Kingston Chase is buried underground in a shifter prison called Cold Foot.
Little does he know, an unexpected ally is breaking into the prison to set some of the inmates free, including the woman who has consumed his mind since the day she was brought down to his cell and introduced into the secret program he is a part of. If the humans knew what was really going on in this shifter prison, it would be all over the news, and Damon Daye seems to want just that.
Every shifter knows Damon is not the dragon to mess with, but if King plays nice for a little while, he can secure a free ticket into one of the most coveted Crews in the world. Too bad he doesn’t work well with others. Katrina could though, and he would give his ticket to her in a heartbeat if it meant she would forgive him for what happened between them.
King has been living a solitary life for years now, and being thrown into a team is jarring to the massive silverback gorilla that dwells inside of him. If he can stay out of Cold Foot, he could tie up all the loose ends from his previous life, but inside the walls of that prison, there is something he cannot live without.
Katrina is trapped in the consequences of her decisions.
She was brought to Cold Foot Prison after she helped her lion Pride attack Damon’s Mountains, and now her life is at a dead-end. She has so many regrets, and apologies to make, but she can’t do any of that from the cold walls of this place. When the first dragon roar rattles the walls of her cell, she knows something big is happening. What she doesn’t realize is that she is about to be pulled from her dark destiny, and thrust into a second chance she never expected. She has an old friend on the outside pulling some serious strings to get her a shot at making it into a Crew that others would die to be a part of, but her emotions are swinging high and wide as she struggles to adjust to life outside of the walls of Cold Foot. The one steadying factor? A silverback gorilla shifter she met one horrible day inside, who seems determined to protect her for reasons she doesn’t understand. King is huge, and dominant, and a fighter, but he’s pushing her toward the people she went to war with in Damon’s Mountains, and she can’t figure out his motive. For the life of her, she can’t figure out whether he is friend or foe. All she knows is that he is important to her, and to her animal, and he gives her hope. For a shifter like her, hope is terrifying.
Don’t miss the thrilling first book of T. S. Joyce’s brand-new Wreck’s Mountains series, where redemption is never out of reach. New Crew, new Mountains, new territory lines to defend, new shifters, new love, and new friends…you won’t want to miss where this exciting series is headed.
****Content Explicit spicy love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Shifter animal battles and wars for territory lines show up in most of these books, which includes action adventure and violence. Intended for mature audiences.
T.S. Joyce is devoted to bringing hot shifter romances to readers. Hungry alpha males are her calling card, and the wilder the men, the more she'll make them pour their hearts out. She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.
She lives in a tiny town, outside of a tiny city, and devotes her life to writing big stories. Foodie, bear whisperer, ninja, thief of tiny bottles of awesome smelling hotel shampoo, nap connoisseur, movie fanatic, and zombie slayer, and most of this bio is true.
Bear Shifters? Check Smoldering Alpha Hotness? Double Check Sexy Scenes? Fasten up your girdles, ladies and gents, it's gonna to be a wild ride.
This story about Kat and King was really about healing broken souls. Kat had made all the wrong choices to get herself locked up one of worst shifter prisons, but she wasn't an evil person. Finding herself sprung by the enemy is just as confusing as the man she wants with her. These characters truly grip you tight and make you want to read their story again and again.
Thescarred h is too scared to trust. Once she was abuser, now she's on the receiving end. When the H is kind to her she doubts her place in his world. They are a great couple, wanting to be better. Loved it.
Another great story by T.S. Joyce, as soon as I read one, I can't stop reading her books. Looking forward to this series. Wrecks crew of inmates is going to be phenomenal and I can't wait!
Katrina is confused from her time with Rook and is trying to find herself. But she’s still got strength and is not a pushover. King isn't the monster she thought, he is quite a gentleman even with all his strength as a silverback gorilla. There are so many tender moments between them that brings out all the feels. They are great together and an amazing couple. They both will help the other conquer their demons The plot is very interesting Wreck’s crew will consist of some inmates they bust out of Cold Foot prison that didn't deserve to be there. Surprisingly, they all get along and there isn’t much conflict. This story is centered more around the romance between Katrina and King.
Again Kudos to the tamer of monsters, I often wonder if your world revolves around your characters.
When I did Digital Imaging I sometimes dreamed of a certain image I wanted to do and I would get up and do it lest I forget. I wonder if that has happened to you?
From the first page I was hooked and couldn't stop reading until I had finished the book. I loved everything about King and Kat's story. Both held in the prison for shifters where they were tortured and experimented on. Until the Blue Dragon Damon decides to destroy it. Kat and Raynah escape with King's help but he's too big to fit through the vent. Kat is forced to leave him to die as the Dragon's fire is burning everything. It's a miracle that he finally escapes only to die by Wreck's fire and to be reborn by Timbers green flames. King and Kat are thrown together and eventually they form a mate bond. Everything changes when Kat is chosen to become part of Wreck's crew and King isn't. Wreck wants him but Damon has said no. King asks to be returned to the prison so he can avenge what Rook did to Kat by scarring her face for life. As usual T has you experiencing all of the emotions from happiness to actual sobbing. This is such an excellent book and I can't wait for you to read it too.
This is Wreck’s series and book one. I am so glad I went searching for books and found this new one from TS Joyce. Honestly, I just enjoy reading her stories and writing style. It’s always seems to be redemption involved but the characters feel real for the most part. This one is about several shifters who were being abused in a prison. Damon, the blue dragon (one of my favorites) and Wreck have a plan to save the ones who do not deserve to be there. The story grows from there. There are triggers from the prison, drugs, physical abuse etc. in case those things are issues. There are new characters and our old favorites to bring this story to life. Read On!
Different Crew * Complex Circumstances * Normal Dysfunction * HEA
The Cold Foot King expands. Not only did the Blue Dragon (Damon) expand his territory and the reader witness the Fast Lander Crew connections continue, but the Holland Pride's female victims continue to heal. Wreck must build the new crew. Individuals must learn to heal, support, trust, find their place, and heal within the newly forming pack. Some will make it. Others will not. King must face his own past to ultimately be with his mate. Katrina, former Queen and traitor of the Holland Pride, best friend of Holland Pride traitor and mate to Fast Lander's #2 must find herself, her place and her strength to start again.
Katrina and King that had a road to travel and once and the end their Happiness can start. King slated the Demons for her and in turn the crew takes a chance on him.
This new series has it all, history and familiar characters from past books, and a new group of unknowns. I admit, I was a bit confused in the beginning, but as usual the author began developing a new world that drags you into the series and it's characters. King and Kat are broken and struggling to survive the wrongness of their pasts, and move forward to a better future. Hopefully together. Looking forward to Reed's story next
Another winning series that I consider well worth my time and $$.
This book shines like the northern star. It has action, redemption, A King alpha and his lady love. Joyce out did herself once again. When we last Damon's mountain, Fastlander was on a mission. So, by chapter two, I was glued to my kindle and barely put it down to charge and make dinner. Multitasking. Katrina, who tired to help Silver before the Holland War, paid dearly for that action gets her revenge and boy is it sweet. Rally, around and get you read on because you don't want to miss this ride.
This one was hard to read, I found it super depressing, not the norm from this author. It does make sense with the setting as things opened and the couple that was there. Interesting that Wreck is creating his crew out of those people and how he picks them. Things did pick up the last couple of chapters, a good thing too. It was nice to see how things ended and for all the other crews to come celebrate this new one.
OMG! This book is SO good! I absolutely loved it. It started off exciting and kept it up until the very end. I’m sad it’s over. Katrina is a great heroine. She’s a great fighter and a good person. She’s confused from her time with Rook and is trying to find herself. But she’s still got strength and not a pushover. King is the so sweet to her. He is such a gentleman even with all his strength as a silverback gorilla. There are so many tender moments between them that brings out all the feels. They are great together and an amazing couple. The plot is very interesting also - to form Wreck’s crew from some inmates they busted out of prison. Surprisingly, they all got along well and there wasn’t much conflict. This was more around the romance between Katrina and King. I loved this and highly recommend it. I plan to reread it again!
There’s a new crew coming, and the potential members are being busted out of shifter prison for the right to compete. This was different from other books the author has created as our MCs are villains from previous stories, and I appreciated the change up. Even just the change in setting having these guys feature in a prison was a novelty I really enjoyed. I did not enjoy some character inconsistencies It’s a small thing, but that lack of continuity with the character traits bugs me. And the big conflict in the book made zero logical sense and I really couldn’t understand how no one could figure out a solution. King didn’t even try to fight for it. But outside of that (if you just go with it) I enjoyed this open and the change of pace from the usual story. There’s some new lore being added in and I’m excited to see where it leads.
Cold Foot King is the first title in the Wreck’s Mountains series, a connection to the Damon’s Mountains universe, as it brings us Katrina’s and King’s compelling romance. At the Cold Foot Prison, shifters are being tortured and made part of experiments, completely against how the prison should have been run. Yes, these people did harm, and most deserve exactly the punishment that was meted out to them, but not this. When Damon decided to oust what was happening at Cold Foot, even if it meant burning the place to the ground with his and his crew’s dragon fire, that meant that so many shifters, those who had been experimented on, were out in the world again. There was a chance that some would become part of a new crew, but not everyone. Kat and King had met in that horrendous prison, were just two of the many shifters who were part of those hideous experiments. They formed a bond of sorts and gravitated towards each other once outside. But, in spite of the growing bond between them, not everything is going perfectly for them… and choices must be made, hard ones that could change the course of their lives.
I will always love going back into the Damon’s Mountains universe, and Cold Foot King was no exception. Kat had made a choice to follow someone’s footsteps that gained her a boatload of trouble. She’s trying to make amends, but part of her strength comes from her relationship with King. And it looks like he’s not going to be with her for much longer. Watching this couple begin to heal, to put their pasts behind them as they chose a far different future, was an emotional journey. I liked them individually and as a couple. There are rough times ahead for King and Katrina, but together they can face anything. If you love a well-written, compelling, steamy, emotional romance that has intense action moments and tender ones as well, then you’d love Cold Foot King by T.S. Joyce.
I historically love this author. I was interested to see how this series was going to play out after the last book and it really was not at all what I expected. I will say I was a little hesitant once I started reading, because you can see pretty quickly how the history between King and Katrina came to be and I am not at all a fan of these breeding program type story lines in books. And I will say that taking away someone's choice is absolutely one of the worst things that can be done to someone. Both of these characters clearly have trauma from their experiences, and it did seem at times that they made light of the situation, but it was clearly a coping mechanism that helped them while they worked through their problems so I don't think it was handled carelessly. Overall, I definitely liked this book although I have complicated feelings about the characters with them each being a little bit of the villain in the other's story. It was nice to see them overcome some of that together and be able to see who the other person really was. The whole crew of prisoners theme is definitely an interesting idea to keep these Damon's mountains series' rolling with a fresh take. I'm excited to see how the rest of the stories play out!
‘Eventually, he reached his arm back and rested his hand on her butt. It felt intimate, like a hug, and the fluttering sensation was back in her chest. Outside of this room, there was a competition for a place in Wreck’s Crew, but in here, it felt like the rest of the world and all its problems didn’t exist. After everything she’d been through, it felt like absolute peace.’
Escaping Cold Foot prison, Katrina became part of a group of shifters who were being looked over to see if they would become part of Wreck Itall’s newest crew. Along side of her was her pregnant cellmate, Raynah. Each had been subjected to becoming a part of the prison’s breeder program.
Cold Foot King is the first book in TS Joyce’s newest series, Wreck’s Mountain. Once again we are bombarded with the deep feelings of her shifters as they fight their own animals, attempting to recover from hardships and pain, while under the watchful eye of the Dragon, Damon, and Phoenix Wreck.
The intense romance between Kat, and Silver Back King, is questioned, due to the prison’s drugs introduced to them in the breeder program. Finding their deeper emotions pulls us through the tense moments of becoming a new crew.
I like the turn this series is taking from starting a new crew in MT to getting people out of prison (second chances) to the redemption arc for the MFC. I appreciated being reminded how completely programmed we get by the social circles we grow up in. Perfect babies and children can be entirely twisted by the selfish people and communities raising them.
The revenge on Rook was chef's kiss. Lucia’s manipulations are irritating even though they are for everyone's good. A few quotes I liked,
“He was trying, and there was enormous value in a trying man.”
Most men have succumbed to the socialization that they are entitled, so everyone else has to try but them.
And,
“What kind of reassurance do you need? Ask your questions.”
Many people don't have a whole lot of confidence or a strong sense of self. But we live in a world that is cruel to weakness or doubt. I love the directness of this question and the complete lack of shame. It offers pure generosity - ask for what you want, take what you need - it's a really great example of love. It's love to give it and love to take it.
A SOLID 3.5 STARS! Sadly, it's a low spice level. This needed a prequel because I was confused AF about landing in pile of of literal shit-show. The setting and tension between the MCs was fantastic, although the plot was reminiscent as a block of Swiss Cheese.
I personally would have enjoyed the story better had there been a prologue of the "breeding" program between King and Katrina. What can I say? It's a kink I enjoy reading about. There was plenty of emotions swirling in the background - a need for closure, too much anger or confusion.
OVERALL it's straightforward, and KING was honestly a good, protective Silverback who only did what he believed to be honorable and worthy. In hindsight, if we've met Katrina prior to this, we might not appreciate her as much seeing as how she was painted to be some sort of villainess.
This is the first book in a new series. King and Katrina are in Cold Foot prison. But as it turns out the prison is doing more than housing the shifter inmates. They are testing on them. Forcing them to do things that they shouldn't be. Now Damon Daye is taking matters into his own hands. He is staging a prison break and telling the public what they have been up to in that prison. King and Katrina may have come together under difficult circumstances but they share a bond. Now he is pushing her towards people she attacked. She doesn't know who is a friend and who is the enemy. But if King is pushing her that way she should go. But what about him. He is trying to save her but not himself. This book is a great read. I can't wait for the next book. Fantastic job once again T.S. Joyce.
Every now and then this author writes a book that is just the best. This is one of them. I thoroughly enjoyed how this grabbed me from the start and took me on a wonderful journey. Having not read the last two Fastlander stories, I’ve missed the situations that led up to this series. But I found the explanations given in this filled in those blanks. Loved both Katrina and Kingston and how a traumatic experience in that nasty prison led to them being friends then more. Interesting about Lucia lying, good twist. I stopped KU for a while but will catch up and read the last two Fastlander books to see what happened for my own entertainment, plus I hate not finishing a series. Read through kindle unlimited.
So many unexpected turns happened in this story. First is Wreck is a leader that I never saw happening. He changed major in this story! King well I didn't expect to love him so much! Such a protective, caring murdering shifter! He can swing from my tree any time he wants! Kat well she deserves King very much! I loved how the story ended but I wanted more as usual! I never like these stories ending because I enjoy visiting with old friends and meeting new friends! When they said they were getting Wrecks crew from prison, I never saw it happening this way. I look forward to seeing how Wrecks crew grows! Another mountain for Damon to conquer!
A lovely story where two people who are shifters come together, they were imprisoned in Cold Foot prison and experimented on, but it gave them a bond that was very real and in working through their problems and past, they learn that real love can not be forged. This is Wreck's team, but for most of it, Damon is really running it until eventually Wreck learns to say no this is my team and this is who I want. Silver and Timber are in it, Katrina who fought against the fastlanders is the star of the story and this about her learning how wrong she'd been and the redemption that she is offered she takes.
I have mixed views of this book. It's definitely not my usual pick - it's a love story about shifters and has a half naked guy on the cover... All things that screamed no!! But since I it was this months book club pick, I decided to try it out. After all, that's what a book club is for, right? To introduce you to books you may not have read on your own. So, I read it for book club.
Here's what I liked: Storyline was decent. It was a quick read.
Here's what I didn't like: The margins/spacing of the actual text drove me crazy! The writing felt immature. Very bad girl/valley girl kinda wording.
King and Katrina First book in new series. Kat was the Queen that betrayed Silver, they both got traitor marks from Rook before she was thrown in shifter prison. King, a silver back shifter murdered his brother to protect a female and he wasn't sorry. He and Kat were placed in a breeding program by humans at the prison and both were traumatized but strangely affected by each other. When the Blue Dragon decides to stop the evil happening at this prison, he allows some of the shifters with good left in them a second chance. I loved this first book and Kat and King together. T.S Joyce can't write a bad book it she tried..lol
Absolutely loved the start to this new series, Wreck’s Mountains❣️King and Kat are in shifter prison after their decisions got them both arrested - though King has been inside much longer. An opportunity to escape which leads to a potential new crew with Wreck as their Alpha, definitely won’t be frowned upon. But can they find love together after everything they’ve been through?
I’m excited to see what comes next and I was definitely more teary eyed than I expected with that ending😢
Tighter than family is the Cold Foot Crew. They are formed by the bonds of adversity and committed to the bonds of crew. Wreck and the blue dragon bring chaos to Cold Foot prison where unthinkable experiments were done on prisoners. King and Katrina were part of that and it brought them together. Through this, a new territory is to be established as Wreck forms his new crew with the aid of the Fastlander members. A fantastic story and I anticipate that the series will be wonderful!
Dang it dang it dang it ........yelp I cried. snotty hard tears. No one should have to suffer such pain, do thing to protect another then be punish for it. or feel so be rated, Fall into a place you don't want to be all be cause you want loved. Forced into something neither wanted but yet true feeling came flowing out. Damon can sure throw fire on shit and Wreck is another fire thrower but threw it all the crew forged forward and true love erupts. Thank you T.S. Joyce for another great read
T.S. Joyce writes the best books! This wonderful redemption story with King and Katrina was amazing! I whined when it was over, but these books are a knock out of the park every time. I have every single one of T.S. Joyce's books, and I will stop reading whatever book I'm currently reading, just so I can devour another drop of Damon's Mountains! Keep up the fabulous work, Hun!
