Ronan

I used to be a cop, and now I kill people for fun. Yeah, yeah I know. Never admit to your crimes. But you don’t know who I am. To you, I’m just words in a blurb. Besides, I don’t plan on living that long anyway.

The system has failed us. There is no justice. So, before I go, I’ll be the justice.

You know. AKAB. All Killers Are Bastards, or however the fuck the saying goes.

Logan

I kill people because they deserve it. But, suddenly, there’s a copycat mimicking my style and stealing my marks. To top it all off, this copycat reminds me of someone. Someone very painful to remember.

I won’t let this slide. Fuck Ronan Carter for making me remember, and fuck him for stealing my kills. He’s going down. You can be sure of that.

Dakota

I’ve been a cop for over a decade. But there’s one kind of case I won’t work—crimes against children. Suddenly, pedophiles start turning up dead all over town. There are multiple serial killers on the loose, and despite not wanting to dig into my past, it’s my job to find them.

To find them and to stop them.

No matter what it takes.

Make Me is a dark romance thriller. It is an interconnected standalone in the Silent Hollow series. There is disturbing and heavy content. Please check content warnings. This book is not suitable for those under 18.

Did I ever think I would read a book where a letter from a stuffed cow would make me cry? Nope but here I am. I love all 3 of these men but Buff is the best lol They all have been through way too much but found a way to love, accept, and heal each other. I hope there's more books in this world in the future. I don't think I have had enough of Ronan, Kota, and Logan. ❤️❤️❤️

This was intense, unhinged and fucked up but damn if I didn’t love it.

I’m definitely fucked in the head because 10/ 10 would get kidnapped again.

Logan: a tattoo artist who kills pedos for the love he lost when he was younger

Ronan: an ex-cop who’s seen too much; kills pedos for the victims he couldn’t get justice for

Dakota: a cop who’s been a victim himself and doesn’t know what love is supposed to look like

It was a great setup and a great story. I only wished the author would’ve taken as much time showing us private moments between all three of them as she did with only Logan and Ronan in the first half.

I absolutely DEVOURED this book. I started reading it and finished 3 ish hours later just shook.

This book shares a universe with Alexandra St. Pierre, and the worlds collide beautifully. This is absolutely a dark, check all your triggers kind of book. It covers some heavy topics as did Merc and Mort, but goes a little deeper into it. If you can’t do child SA or religious trauma Id stay away.

With that being said, this book just hit different. Logan, Ronan and Dakota all have a different reason for doing what they do. All of them have been exposed to the same horrors just in different lights. One a victim, one the justice bringer and one the tortured soul who couldn’t save someone. In a nutshell they need each other.

This book invoked so many feelings. There were a few moments I teared up l, was horrified, and my heart bled. The development of Ronan and Logan was beautiful to see, to see how they helped each other heal, to help each other save themselves. My only ‘want’ would have been we could have seen more of Dakotas development. We get to see some, and we experience him with Logan and Ronan to see the dynamic, but I felt he got a little shorted.

These books combined will be with me for a very long time. Like seared into a part of my soul. I am so thankful they were written. Healing takes many forms and for me these books have offered some.

For a book that had characters so interesting, it was somehow boring? It started off great and it was definitely intriguing, but then it just got dull for a big portion of the story. And the last 20-30% or so went back to being more interesting but at that point I was already bored so I think that ruined it for me and it was still feeling too drawn out.

Maybe I just had a way different idea about what the story would be like for these characters after meeting them originally in The Mercenary and the Mortician by Alexandra St Pierre, which is my fault.

This book is pure entertainment. I am not claiming it’s good, I’m claiming that I was thoroughly entertained. Honestly, my biggest problem with it is that it didn’t feel quite complete. I would have liked it to be a little longer or have a sequel to explore these characters and their relationship better… or maybe just a smutty little companion novella to finish out because honestly this book was MAYBE a 2.5🌶️ for me when I was expecting/hoping for a 4🌶️+ and I’d love a novella to up the heat 😂

I REALLY wanted to like this book.. Cal & Ryan’s book was an easy 5 stars for me.

But… this didn’t work. There wasn’t a clear voice for any of the characters. I couldn’t tell who was talking in any of the chapters despite the fact that it tells you at the start of each chapters because the voices just burred together. All the background information felt like a trauma dump rather than growing an understanding of who the characters are.

And the romance? Womp womp.. We went from straight, to hate, to Stockholm, to just fucking. I never felt at any point that they actually cared or had feelings for each other.

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but having the initial reason for attraction being just “they remind me of my ex” it’s SO cringe.. even if said ex is dead it just really doesn’t do it for me. That happened not once but twice..

They all could have just benefited from therapy and that’s all.

I think I’ll read more from this author and hope for the best.

I don’t love why choose books and I didn’t love that this was why choose either tbh. Dakota just felt unnecessary tbh and it felt forced when he was brought into the relationship. He was introduced way too late, and the relationship between Ronan and Logan was way too developed by then. Regardless of that, I still loved this.

This has officially taken my top fave spot for Alina Mays books! This was an absolutely fantastic read!

This is an MMM romance, and it is deliciously dark, but also so hilarious I found myself laughing through the trauma! If you love Josh from Lights Out you will absolutely adore Ronan!

Ronan is a ex-cop who was sick of the bad guys always getting away with absolutely deplorable crimes! He is definitely going through a psychotic break and finds himself speaking to his stuffed highland cow Buff, and let me tell you every single time Buff opened his mouth I was cackling!

When Ronan takes out one of Logan’s marks Logan is on a mission to take Ronan out, but Ronan looks like someone from his past and finds her can’t do it…so instead he kidnaps him. The banter between these two is absolutely hilarious! When they find themselves with a common enemy they begrudgingly decides to form a truce and work together. When Ronan finds his next mark and not even Logan can stop him from taking him out, the detective who is actively hunting them catches them in the bathroom with their victim. Only Dakota finds he can’t convince himself to tell his superiors what happened. So he finds himself as Ronan and Logan’s next kidnapping victim. This is a gay awakening and watching these MMCs grow through their past traumas was beautiful and heartbreaking. The revenge they are all after was absolutely fantastic!!

If you’re looking for a hilarious dark romance that is anything but ‘diet dark romance’ this is for you! This is dark but heals through humor!

Thank you so much for Alina May for allowing me to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review!

It was so bad🥲🥲🥲🥲
I kinda feel guilty because the boys had really interesting personalities but i cant overlook the bad storyline😭😭

First, There were so many Plot holes and wrong stuff.

Logan knowing Dakotas Name before searching him online for the first time to tell Ronan that his name is Dakota???

Logan saying „i used all my condoms“ , bro was a virgin and said himself after that scene that he never used one??😭

Even the fan art has some huge mistakes…. It kinda disturbed me cause i never recognized mistakes in books.

To the storyline: I expected soooo much and it made so little sense😭from the moment Dakota appeared everything lost his structure… noo cop would fold after 2 days with his kidnappers💀💀🤞🏻

It mad me cringe many times but i loved BUFFALO (the stuffed pet that could talk)

I definitely wouldn’t recommend the book🥲🤞🏻

I received an ARC for Make Me in exchange for an honest review.

First up I love the shared world Alex and Alina have created. The Mercenary & The Mortician introduced Ronan, Logan, Dakota & Buffalo and I was excited to read their story in Make Me.

Make Me was low angst with moderate spice. I don’t usually read why choose MMM but after the brief glimpses of these boys in Merc & Mort I knew I needed their story. They were more than a little toxic but let’s be honest we love bad boys so I’m all for it.

Please read the trigger warnings because a lot of what goes down with these boys early in their relationships is definitely not consensual.

Make Me wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be, coming into this from Merc & Mort I think I was expecting more of that darkness. The story was more focussed on the relationship development between Ronan, Logan & Dakota, their past trauma and how that shaped who they were today and why they do what they do.

I think my expectations for Make Me were maybe too high. I devoured Merc & Mort and I rate this as one of my all time top reads. So coming off that into this I was expecting more. I understand the books were written by different authors and maybe I just click better with Alex’s writing style. I found myself zoning out frequently with Make Me and it honestly was a struggle to finish the book. There didn’t seem to be any definitive plot, it was kind of messy and hard to follow at times. It felt like it had too much going on while having nothing going on at the same time.

Loved the cameos with Cal, Ryan & Vox. Although they didn’t feel the same, their dialogue was off and not what I was expecting. I guess this is because those scenes weren’t written by Alex(?)

Special mention to my favourite side characters Buffalo and Sir Ellington - the bonus epilogue 🤌🏻💋

I loved the character art throughout the book, this was a nice continuation of what we already got in The Mercenary & The Mortician.

I think I am in the minority with my review and that’s okay. We all have our own tastes and likes when it comes to the books we read. This just wasn’t for me if I’m being completely honest.

I am not sure who I loved more... Sir Ellington or Buff! That bonus scene was gold! Also, I feel like I need a Ronan tattoo on my body immediately.

That being said! Loved this book and these boys! This is another must read MM romance that you need on your shelf. I loved getting the perspective of each character and watching their connection develop. I am convinced Alina could write a word on a gum wrapper at this point and I would buy it and frame it with pride. I can't wait to add this beauty to my ever-growing Alina collection.

I think this is entirely a me problem, but I didn’t love it 😭

I thinkThe Mercenary & the Mortician put me in a slump because I loved it so much and wasn’t ready to leave Ryan & Cal behind. However, the cameos we get from Vox, Cal & Ryan filled my heart with joy.

I loved the why choose MMM romance, and how they were able to heal each other from past traumas and find safety with each other. I thought that part of the story was nice. But I did find the overall plot boring & found myself skimming most of the second half of the book.

I did really enjoy the last page though, when we get the text from Ryan about Apex and we know shits about to pop off. I ALSO loved the Sir Ellington epilogue, that had me ☠️

Make Me is pure, fast-paced entertainment.
Is it perfect? No.
Is it borderline crack-ish? Absolutely.
Did I still tear through it like I had a pilot’s license for a 747? Hell yeah, I did.

This book follows Ronan, an ex-cop turned unaliver after realizing the system is trash and he can deliver justice way better on his own. Then there’s Logan—a man with a past soaked in loss and heartbreak—who just so happens to be taking out the same kind of sick people as Ronan.

Only… they have the same method? Oh no. 🤭 Cue an explosive collision between them.

The first half of this book? TOP TIER. I ate it up. The push and pull between Logan and Ronan is filthy in the best way—full of "fuck you’s," "make me’s," fast-burning toxicity, and the kind of aching longing they didn’t even know they were missing until they found it in each other.

And just when you think it can’t get any hotter, Dakota—the cop—catches Logan and Ronan mid–shared hobby 😏 and the temperature cranks even higher from there.

And then... it went a little downhill for me.

I went into this book knowing it was going to be an m/m/m endgame, but I unfortunately couldn’t connect with Dakota the way I wanted to. I feel like he came into the story too late, and honestly? Dakota felt less like a main character than Buffalo, Ronan’s stuffed highland cow that he could talk to.

Yeah, I never said these characters were sane 😮‍💨

And yes, Buffalo is a main character. We can’t be friends if you think otherwise. I LOVED THAT COW 🥹

I do think if we had gotten a little more time with all three of them together, the dynamic could've really worked for me. But alas, it is what it is. I’m giving it 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for being purely addictive, unhinged in the best way, and making me care way too much about a fictional stuffed cow.

edit to add - after some reflection and reading TM&TM, I truly can not give this more than 3 stars and not feel like I'm lying. Without Dakota, this could've been a high 4 or even 5 star read.

“i can practically see the brokenness spilling out of both of them. But for some reason, their broken pieces fit together so perfectly.”

let’s start off by saying this was my first MMM read i’ve ever read and it was IT.
this story was very very dark but def check your trigger warnings with this one because it touches some very hard subjects.
Logan had to be my favorite character; he was everything. his personality, and the way he was described did it for me, the way he was with ronan gave me the enemies to lovers and i was here for it!

buffallooooo; i looooved him. he was much needed in this sorry and i loved his personality lol.

overall Dakota, Logan, and Ronan just hit different. now let me go off to buy a baby cow lolll.

(ARC)

If someone had told me that a stuffed highland cow plushie would bring me to tears, I wouldn't have believed you, but I would have been wrong because here we are and I AM NOT OKAY. I knew I was going to love this book just as much as TMATM from the first sentence because I was hooked. This book was such a fun read. I loved Roman and Logan from their first words and Dakota ended up stealing my heart as well. And although this book had me laughing and smiling for a lot of it, it also hurt me to my core. I love the way each character's traumas were handled and I loved how the overarching theme was healing even through the hard times. This book really showed that healing isn't always easy and quick; there are times when it's hard and it hurts yet this book does not shy away from those moments, which I loved. This is my first read from this author but after this, I fear I'm going to have to read the entire backlog.

Finally…. I read my first book by Alina May…

I am so upset I waited this long.

I completely understand why so many people enjoy Alina’s work and I am no different. I now at your feet and I am not worthy 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

I was expecting this book to pull in my heart strings… I WAS NOT expecting it to tear it out, stomp on it, and put it back together… the emotions I felt throughout this was insane and I am so happy my babies found eachother!!

Yes they’re grown men, yes they will always be my babies.

This is a MMM dark romance with a lot of dark themes so I recommend checking out the content warnings on Alina’s page to prepare yourself for potential triggers because let me tell you these men have gone through it.

But their story on how they find each other and help each other grow is beautiful. They are exactly what each other needs and there’s a sassy stuffed highland cow sidekick to boot!!! Buff is honestly my favourite character in this book and I will definitely be getting some form of highland cow to remember this book.

The backstory for each of the MMCs hurts my heart, and this story really shows how your upbringing and what you go through really does change who you become as an adult, and sometimes we need help to save ourselves and grow.

This book is a perfect example of that.

It is also an interconnected standalone that has crossovers with Alexandra St. Pierre’s book, The Mercenary and the Mortician. I loved seeing the story from both sides of this world. It really made everything so interesting being able to see the story from so many different perspectives. You do not need to read both books to understand the story line, it also does not matter which book you read first, but I highly recommend reading both because the insight makes everything even more beautiful.

Also the Bonus epilogue of this book was my favourite thing OF ALL TIME. I’ve never seen someone do an ending like this and I CRAVE MORE.

Wanna know what I’m talking about? Guess you’ll have to read it to find out 😉

I was privileged to ARC read this book and it did not disappoint! Please please check the triggers! There is k!lling, talks of r@pe, alcoholism just to name a few.

I loved this book, the story, characters, their development, their internal monologue. I can’t pick a favorite I’m team #why-choose

I never thought I would suddenly become obsessed with a highland cow named Buffalo, but I am and I now I have my own stuffie to add to my self as a trophy in honor of Buff. Buff is a crazy, horny, no filter, funny as hell part of this story. “Pirate eye!!” 🤣

Ronan, Dakota, and Logan are pure perfection, it’s like they are a 3 piece puzzle and fit together perfectly.

The bonus Sir Ellington and Buff chapter was hilarious, I knew Ronan was going to get his way in dressing him up in little costumes!

I am so sad that it’s over, but can’t wait for you to read it and experience the craziness of Ronan, Dakota, Logan, Buff, and Elli ❤️

Remember, CHECK THE TRIGGERS

5 Stars – I Came for the Chaos, Stayed for the Highland Cow, and Left Emotionally Wrecked

I gobbled up every second of this book.
No notes. Just vibes.

If the me from a few days ago told me I’d be crying because of a stuffed Highland cow, I’d have laughed in her face—but here I am. Crying. Because of Buffalo.

And also because of Ronan. And Logan. And sweet, sweet Dakota.

I never thought I’d be the type to read a why choose romance. But now I’ve seen the light.

Ronan

Ex-cop turned chaos gremlin. He’s a grumpy little menace with a heart the size of Montana.
His drinking problem and family trauma give him edge, but it’s his stuffed buffalo best friend that sealed the deal for me. The way I laughed. The way I cried. He’s annoying. He’s loud. He’s the group’s brat. And I love him so much.

“Fuck. I’m definitely fucked in the head because 10/10 would get kidnapped again.”
Instant classic.

Logan

Tatted-up, backwards hat, surfer energy with a heartbreaking past. His story with Greyson? Destroyed me.
Logan sees the pieces of Grayson in both Dakota and Ronan, and it shapes the gentle, protective way he loves them. He just wants them to feel safe. To be seen. To be loved the way he never was.

“Sometimes, I just want to kiss the fucking attitude right out of you.”
Please do.

Dakota

My sweet, stuttering detective angel. I would die for this man.
He’s dealing with the crushing pressure of parental disappointment, childhood trauma that made me furious, and a voice he’s been made to feel ashamed of—but he still shows up for the people he loves.

He has a bearded dragon named Sir Ellington, and if that’s not elite character design, I don’t know what is.

“You’re not an inconvenience… You’re perfect just the way you are.”
Logan, protect this man forever.

The Three of Them Together? Magic.

What do a tattoo artist, a detective, and an ex-cop have in common?
They’re broken by the same system that they still believe in enough to fight for the people it failed.

Their story is messy and raw and rocky—and so, so beautiful.
They are exactly what the others need. This book shows that healing doesn’t come from being fixed—it comes from being understood. Loved. Seen. Even at your lowest.

“Their broken pieces fit together so perfectly.”
I am not okay.

A Few Extra Things I Loved:
• The trauma bonding was real and handled with care.
• The found family energy was everything.
• The connection to The Mercenary and the Mortician? Chef’s kiss. I loved seeing Ryan, Vox, and Callum again.
• THE ART. THE EPILOGUE. I’m unwell.

If I had one wish, it would’ve been more time with Dakota’s backstory since he came in later—but even then, I adored every piece of him we got.

“You guys mean the world to me.”
Same.
Absolutely same.

Final Thoughts:
This book owns my heart, my soul, and probably a few brain cells I cried out while reading.
If you’re wondering whether three broken boys and a buffalo can ruin your life in the best way—they can. And they will.

5 Stars. Because I’ll never recover and I don’t want to.

What do an ex cop turned vigilante, a tattoo artist who’s good with more than one kind of gun, and a by-the-book detective all have in common? They all want to see the real bad guys put down and save the people that the justice system failed - the same system that failed each of them. Maybe save each other in the process?

Make Me is an MMM dark romance thriller. Full of banter and comedy, trauma, healing, degradation and praise, and plenty of delicious spice.

As always, check your TWs and know your limits. There is disturbing and heavy content in this book, but if you make it through to the end there’s also SO MUCH beauty and healing and humanity here.

“And, in that moment, nothing is okay, and everything is okay all at the same time. Life isn't fair, but it's also so, so beautiful.”

ALSO THE BONUS EPILOGUE IS EVERYTHINGGGGG! lol

Okay wow. I really don’t know how I’m gonna formulate words for this review but here we go.

HOLY CRAP. I truly can’t express how much this blew me away. The pain and trauma our three MMCs have gone through were incredibly heartbreaking but the growth and love that they all eventually come to was just incredible.

I swear I thought this book was going to be one way and then we switched tracks and I was pleasantly surprised! But i definitely felt every emotion reading this book 😂

Favorite character? I think this was almost everyone’s but Buff for sure! The comments made me DIE laughing!

Alina you did it again and I am so happy I requested an ARC of this because if I could erase this from my brain and reread it over again I would! 5 stars!
(Thank you Alina for giving me the opportunity to read this before it was released!!)

Downside, I already miss Ronan, Dakota and Logan lol 💚

Make Me

Logan, Ronan, and Dakota

The hype for this release didn't disappoint. It's my first time reading Alina. And I loved it. It left me emotional. It could be difficult for some readers so be sure to check before hand if that's a possibility for you. That said I totally recommend reading this. I love that she included art in ebook. I'll definitely be buying a physical copy to keep. Oh and a stuffie to go with it. That's definitely a must!
