Dynah
I ran from my Father as far as my feet would allow, pushing myself until I bled– through forests, under branches, and into the water. When my eyes opened, I was surrounded by him. The Man with the Mirror Mask.
“Forgive me, for I have sinned,” I whisper aloud as I take the forbidden step.

Elliot
For close to a decade, I’ve been searching for the girl in the photo. When I finally find her I can't help but to claim the life of anything or anyone that touches her. She's mine and nothing will stop me from claiming her as such.
“You’re stuck with me, Dynah. Whether you want to be or not.”

⚠️Check trigger warnings first because this one is DARK and taboo.⚠️

Dynah's story was so heartbreaking and messed up. I struggled while reading first few chapters because of 💪🔪(Runa gurlllll I was already crying after reading the dedication and here you made me a sobbing mess) but now I feel the book was worth continuing. I'm still shimmering with rage and can still feel my blood boiling. But dynah's journey from being so broken to a freaking badass was too beautiful to read. She has her own masked man who'll unalive whole world and himself too, if it makes her happy. The way he helped her heal🥹💗.

"If a man should hit a woman and turn a blind eye towards her pain, then he doesn’t deserve to see." SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.

“I’ll give you the world on a silver platter if that’s what it means to stay by your side.” 😭😭🤌

This is a beautiful read. As always, if you have triggers, check the list; especially if you have past trauma of rape, abuse, self-harm, etc. I went into this blind and I’m glad I did.

There are parts in this story that I wished were detailed and spoken about a little more but it didn’t take away from the story. If you love dark, trauma filled books, this is it.

Easy 5 ⭐️ for me - this was my first read from this author and I can’t wait to read her other books!

the amount of times i was raging bc of the sick things dynah’s dad did but then got super horny bc of elliot should be studied 😭

this was heartbreaking and disturbing to read. please check your triggers. this isn’t a book that focuses on romance. it is about abuse, incest, sa, brainwashing (not between main characters) eye opening, and will have you wondering about life.

dynah was abused, raped, and suffered so much under her parent’s care. her body was sold from the moment she could speak. she was never allowed to go to school or grow up having a normal childhood. all she ever knew was to lay down and take a beating, both from her parents and from the men they sold her to. when she ran away she didn’t have anywhere to go. she didn’t have the education she needed in order to get a job. so she did what she grew up knowing, selling her body, prostitution. she wanted a better life for herself but this was her only way of getting enough money and getting there.

elliot has been searching for the girl in the photo for almost a decade. he and his best friend spencer run a business where they rescue individuals and get them the help they need. when elliot finally finds the girl he’s been looking for, he begins to stalk her every move. he’s been in love with her for the longest time and this obsession brought him to murder everyone that has ever touched her. he found her and he’s never letting her go.

i went into this sort of blind but when i read the triggers omg i just wanted to read it for dynah 🫶🏼 i just needed to be in her mind and understand her. runa did a wonderful job telling her story but i just wish it was a bit longer and some parts a bit more dragged out. it kind of felt rushed especially at the end. but i absolutely love how this was fully focuses on dynah and what she went through. the things her dad did to her had me fighting back vomit omg. i just wanted to hug her and cry with her. my heart hurts for her.

i was so happy to see how dynah’s character developed. she wants to take life and make it her bitch. and she did just that starting with her father. that piece of shit deserved everything that happened to him. i still wish he suffered some more but i’m glad he’s right where he belongs … in hell.

THAT ENDING THOUGH ?!!?!! i need to know what’s happening next omg 😱

Runa has a way with plot twists. I always wonder what she is going to throw at me next, and this book definitely had me saying WTF a few times. But that ending definitely took the cake, I have no idea where this story is going, but I'm so excited to fund out.

This book is very dark, it has nothing to do with bunnies and sugar. Dinah this character has an incredibly heartbreaking story. She feels like she is worthless, but as the story progresses she becomes a strong character. Elliot has been looking for Dinah for a long time, once he finds her he doesn't let her go, I loved how he protected her, that he would give everything for her, he becomes her savior and her cure.. The plot twists wow I didn't see that coming, this story is incredible

OMG!!! This was a very dark (pitch-black), violent and twisted story that had me in a chokehold the whole way through. It was insanely emotional, gut-wrenching and tore me up inside.

Dynah’s life is one hell of tragic mess. Her story and trauma is hard to read through at times. It’s definitely heartbreaking and I don’t know how she managed to survive as long as she did. But even breaking free of her monsters, she still lives a hard life, surviving one day at a time. When a man in a mask starts stalking her, Dynah has no idea how much this intriguing man is going to force her out of the shell of her life and make her live again.

Elliot has been searching for the mysterious girl in a picture he has been carrying around for years. When he stumbles upon her, he has no idea what she has gone through and what she continues to go through. But Elliot makes damn sure to tear her walls down and show her how strong she is. He will do and does do everything and anything to protect her.

"Don't you dare jump. Because when I save you, I will make sure I’m the last person you will ever see. I will make you crave me more than anything you've ever desired. I will change your mind about anything you've ever thought to be true. You're stuck with me, Dynah. Whether you want to be or not."

The bond that Elliot and Dynah form is fierce and unbreakable. There are a lot of hurdles these two need to jump over and many demons they need to slay but together they are a force to be reckoned with.

“I told you, Darling. You are mine, and you're not going anywhere without me. That includes the depths of hell.”

This story was heavy but worth every tear that falls while devouring it. It was really well written, had amazing characters and was filled with mind-blowing twists that made it difficult to stop reading even for one minute. It was so freaking good and left me with bated breath craving the next book after the way this one ends.

This book was so addicting!

I do have to say, please read the triggers because this book is DARK, but so totally up my alley and I have to say ... I was shocked at every page turned. So much happened in this one book that I didn't know how to put the book down because it was just so intriguing, exciting, heartbreaking and you will feel every emotion possible with this one.

Runa Nelson did one heck of a job with this story. The ending really had me though because I certainly did NOT see that coming. I will tell you that there were many moments that angered me throughout the book (not by the author's fault) just the story itself was a very hard story, the theme was not light at all. I felt for the FMC in this story for everything she went through and continued going through. I would never wish that type of life on anyone.

But please make sure you read the triggers. I wouldn't want the author to get a bad review because someone went in blind and the triggers did't sit well with them and then bash the author or the book. This is why there are trigger warnings!!

Amazing job Runa, I can't wait for the next book!

💀 Drowned in Silence by Runa Nelson

This book is dark, twisted, and completely unrelenting—and I loved every second of it.

Dynah’s story begins in the depths of despair, escaping a life of pain and destruction. Her path crosses with Elliot, the Man with the Mirror Mask, who has been searching for her for nearly a decade. Together, they uncover unimaginable horrors, but amidst the darkness, a tender and fiercely protective bond forms.

The writing is hauntingly vivid, the characters jump off the page, and the emotional depth is unmatched. Elliot is the epitome of a dark romance hero—unhinged yet devoted, cold to the world but soft with Dynah. Their journey is painful, raw, and leaves you craving more.

⚠️ Trigger Warnings: This book dives into heavy and dark themes. Approach with caution.

✨ Favorite Quotes:
“We’re simply forced to birth our fantasies into nightmares and live with them.”
“I’ll give you the world on a silver platter if that’s what it means to stay by your side.”

The cliffhanger is brutal, and I need book two immediately. If you’re a fan of dark romance that pushes boundaries, Drowned in Silence is a must-read.

Runa Nelson’s Drowned in Silence is an emotionally charged dark romance that delves into trauma, obsession, and the blurred lines between love and control. The story follows Dynah, a woman desperately trying to escape her past, and Elliot, a man who believes she belongs to him. Their connection is fraught with tension, creating a gripping but uneven reading experience.

What Works:
• Emotional Intensity: Nelson does an excellent job portraying Dynah’s struggles, making her pain and resilience feel raw and believable.
• Atmospheric Writing: The novel’s dark, almost claustrophobic tone enhances the suspense, keeping readers engaged.

What Could Be Better:
• Character Development: While Dynah is compelling, Elliot’s motivations could have been explored in greater depth to make his character more layered.
• Pacing Issues: Some parts of the story move too quickly, particularly in the development of the characters’ relationship, making certain moments feel less impactful.

Verdict:

Drowned in Silence is a gripping but imperfect dark romance that succeeds in emotional depth and atmosphere but falls short in pacing and character complexity. Fans of intense, morally gray stories may still find it an intriguing read, though it may leave some wanting more development in key areas.

WTF! 🤬 I felt all the emotions! Honestly, that took a twist I didn’t really see coming, and now I have to sit here with anxiety waiting for a sequel!

I 1000% believed Dynah was going to end up unaliving herself at the end of the book. I’m glad that hasn’t occurred! Hopefully in the sequel, she’ll get the help she needs to maintain a happy and healthy life. The hope is high!

This was unsettling for sure. Everything that had to do with her father, and the complete chaos and disgust of a house she was raised in, the men paying to sleep with a child, all of it. It’s utter madness, and it’s sickening to think these things really do happen in real life to innocent children. Her entire story makes you want to climb in the book and just steal child Dynah away and shelter her the way she should have been from day one.

Honestly, I’m glad this was set up for a sequel.. even if cliffhangers irk my soul! 😆 It means Dynah lived at the end of the book, and she may have a chance at living a real life; one she can be happy, healthy, no longer selling herself, one she doesn’t have to worry that her father will find her.

Definitely not the darkest book I’ve read, but this is up there based on the subject matter of the book. Definitely check those trigger warnings.

This was heartbreakingly beautiful 🖤

Easily got put in my 10 ten favorite reads from the last 2 years!

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I got an arc for this, but Runa surpassed all my expectations, and i devoured this in one sitting and was still left wanting more.

"Don't you dare jump. Because when I save you, I will make sure Im the last person you will ever see. I will make you crave me more than anything you've ever desired. I will change your mind about anything you've ever thought to be true. You're stuck with me, Dynah. Whether you want to be or not."

This book is not a typical dark romance as it's more "pitch black" than just dark. Check those triggers prior to reading, but if you're like me with zero triggers, then you'll be fine 🖤

"If you want to cut someone open, then you will cut me. You want to watch the blood drip, you will watch it spill from my body. If you want to feel pain, then i will make you feel it. No one else. Not you, not your Father, no one. It's me, Little Raven. Only fucking me."

I swear her books just keep getting better and better!
It took me a bit to read some parts because the details were so, wow. But I couldn’t not stop reading! I started this book last night, and finished it in less than 24 hours!
It’s very dark. Pitch black dark.
Dynah went through what I would say the worst shit I’ve read. But after everything she went through, she is still tough, sassy, and is a firecracker who has a bunch of trauma.
Elliot goes in and saves her but also kind of makes things a bit worse. Let’s just say he fucked up a little bit 😅 he’s a sweet guy that fell Head-Over-Heels for her and helps her with her trauma. Something happens and it’s a plot twist. But then again, this author loves throwing in another twist!!
Over all, it’s an amazing book with LOTS of TWs!! So please, please, PLEASE.

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor because this book 😮‍💨 had me feeling all the emotions 😭

“There has to be more to this– something different from what this is. I can’t survive being used everyday with nothing but pain and anguish in return.”

Our FMC went through some sh*t like props to her because she needs a big hug and a warm cup of cocoa because wtf?!? Her father… he’s a d!cl… her mom… honestly she might be even worse. 🤦🏻‍♀️

“If a man should hit a woman and turn a blind eye towards her pain, then he doesn’t deserve to see.”

Thankfully, our mirror man (he has a hot as f*ck mask.. just go read it lol) decides it’s time for him to step in and take over.

“I told you, Darling. You are mine, and you're not going anywhere without me. That includes the depths of hell.

The twists were twisting, the turns were turning, and the spice 😮‍💨 I ate this book up, it’s just so good 😭

🖤 As always please check your TWs, this one is definitely dark 🖤

Drowned in Silence by Runa Nelson

This was my first time reading Luna’s work, and wow—I’m officially a fan! This book was a tough one to get through at times, but that’s a testament to how raw and powerful the story is. It’s not “fantastic” in the sense of an easy, feel-good read; instead, it’s fantastic because of how beautifully Luna tells such a grueling and emotional tale.

The story follows Dynah, a girl who endures a deeply traumatic life. Honestly, there were moments where her journey was so heavy, I had to stop reading for a moment. Then there’s Elliott, her masked stalker, who adds another layer of intrigue to the story. By the end, I was overwhelmed by a mix of emotions—triumph, heartbreak, and pure shock from the revelations that were revealed.

To the author, Runa: I read your note at the back of the book, and all I wanted was to give you the biggest hug. You’ve done an incredible job with this story.

Bravo on such a powerful and unforgettable read!

Wow my girl does not disappoint her books and writing have just gotten better and better with every book she does !!

This book hit in a different way but it was sooooooo good !!! The FMC ( little raven ) love the nick name has gone through so much in this book! She went through things that no woman should have to deal with in her life but she built herself and it made her become a strong woman !!

Our men in this book god are they sexy!! Elliot lost his family when he was young but all he had was a picture of him and a girl !!! He has been looking and looking for this girl until he finds her and he will not let her go! He protects her cherishes her and does anything this girl would ask for !!

This book has me feeling all the emotions along the way and I couldn’t put this book down !!! The twists were twisting and the plots were plotting !!! I had my jaw dropping with the twists just when you think you know what’s coming BAM!! You don’t !! Love this book and can’t wait for more of her work !!

Page Turner is an understatement! This was full on for the whole book. A very dark and twisted life for Dynah, she has been abused and used by so many men, findimg solice in Elliot who has been looking for her for many years. When he finds her he is trying to help her heal, to discover herself and get revenge for the way her dad treated her. She is a broken young women, but so strong and resiliant inside. She needs him, as he needs her. They fit together, findimg their darkness is similar.
I couldn't put this book dowm, at times, I felt sadness for the way Dynah was treated, nobody deserves that, the men who treated her like dirt, deserved everything they got. A book full of twists and turns, yet so many mystery's to solve too. Spencer, Elliot's brother and best friend, their parents, all secrets yet to be discovered.
A great book, I look forward to readijg the next book, as that cliffhanger was epic!

Drowned in Silence
By Runa Nelson

Please mind the triggers this a DARK one.

I really really enjoyed this. Runa does an amazing job of making you feel Dynah’s pain. My heart hurt for her so much. This will put you through your paces emotionally.

Dynah is just barely surviving and everyone just keeps letting her down. That is until a masked stranger saves her, in more than one way. Her inner strength is fostered and encouraged by Elliott. He sees the woman she can become and wants her to heal.

Elliot, he is bold, vicious, strong and loyal. He finds an old photo that he just can’t get out of his mind.
The little girl in the photo. He has to find her.

They are couple goals. I loved them together. I can’t wait to see where they go from here.

This book absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible.
It’s dark, raw, and full of emotional intensity that had my anxiety climbing with every chapter.
Dynah is such a powerful character — broken yet resilient — and she deserves the world.
I laughed, I cried, and I even got blindsided by moments of humour that hit perfectly in the middle of all the darkness.

The ending left me completely overwhelmed and desperate for more.

Can I get a little commotion for the author!?
.
Heck YES Runa has done it again, in this very dark and disturbing tale. PLEASE check triggers, your mental health matters to me and to Runa!
.
Come though this dark past Dynah has lived and out the other end healing and safe. Her past isn’t one that many survive and live to tell about it, and even less get their revenge. Elliot has been searching for her for years and he finally happens upon her while working a job. He is stunned into reality and does everything in his power to keep her safe and make her his.
.
So many twists and turns for a novella, I couldn’t stop reading! I’m so excited for the next installment - I have to know what happens after!

“I WILL MAKE YOU CRAVE ME MORE THAN ANYTHING YOU’VE EVER DESIRED. I WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT ANYTHING YOU’VE EVER THOUGHT TO BE TRUE.”

Drowned in Silence is not a fluffy walk in the park, please read the trigger warnings. Your mental health matters. 🖤

Dynah is really put through the wringer in this story and although she has a hero, he is no knight in shining armour.

Elliot is dark, soft for Dynah but there isn’t ANYTHING he wouldn’t do for her. He is not someone you want to walk by in a field 😉

Runa totally nailed this story, the angst, the plot twist, the cliffy. You’re going to be left with more questions than answers, but it’s fully worth it.

Congratulations Runa, you should be so proud 🖤

To be honest, I had to read the beginning of this in small doses because Dynah’s situation was so rough and heartbreaking and her feelings were so raw and heartbreaking. The way she described how she felt, I could feel that too. Once we were introduced to Elliot and we see the role he will play, it was hard to put down! They had similar starts to life, but their paths were so different until they were finally brought back together. His tenderness to Dynah was so sweet and perfect. The plot twist near the end was so unexpected! And the way it ended… there better be a book two!! I need to know what Pen is gonna do!!

As always, check trigger warnings before going into a dark romance. I really liked this book and look forward to the next one. 🖤🐦‍⬛

I love it when authors give warnings to their content. However, in this case I don’t know if the warning was good enough. The problem being, the author is only allowed to use particular words to warn and must dance around the verbiage. The book is highly disturbing but unfortunately, sits in a realm of truth. It made my heart hurt to think such atrocities take place. However, the author manipulates the content to make it seem worse than it is during your journey until the reveal. The book ended on a cliffhanger but it was advertised as a standalone.
The triggers and tropes: Incest, Prostitution, Rape, Child Molestation, Cutting, Stalking, Serial Killing, Necrophilia Ideation, Cult, Human Sacrifice, Condemnation of the church.

I just finished Drowned in Silence by Runa Nelson, and I’m absolutely speechless. Elliot is the epitome of a dark romance hero—easily on par with Zade Meadows, if not better. The contrast in how he treats Dynah compared to others is what truly sets him apart. He’s cold, distant, and unyielding to the world, yet with her, he’s gentle, compassionate, and deeply understanding of her struggles.

This book had me completely hooked—I couldn’t put it down, even when I knew I needed to sleep. Every time I picked it up again, I was instantly swept back into the story. Runa, you’ve outdone yourself with this one, and I sincerely hope this book gets all the recognition it deserves.

Check your triggers as always cause this book gets DARK and hits some very taboo areas… Mfc has spent her life being used in so many ways in insane.. through out the book we learn more of her twisted life and background.. then we are introduced to our mmc who’s been looking for her for 10ish years cause he has a picture with her and what’s to know why.. let me just say that the reason why was a big shocker I knew thought was coming… our mmc slowly helps our mfc in learning that just cause every other man in her life has used and abused her that he knows no bounds in showing her true love and loyalty isn’t built from using… The TABOO was intense and I’m here for it

Oh my god.. someone tell me why I just binge read this entire book in four hours.

I started reading it and the first three chapters killed me. The pain that Dynah felt and the torture she had to endure even at such a young age.. I have no words. I felt a piece of my soul break with hers.

Then enter in Elliot who also had to suffer from a young age. How gentle, how sweet and delicately he treated Dynah, I was cheering them on all the way. Even with the all twist at the end.

The way the story ends as a lead up to possibly a second book, sign me up!

If you are needing a dark, spicy, almost disturbing read that involves masked men, then this book is highly for you.

I don't even know where to start. This book was so good, but in a much different way than a dark smut filled book. This story was filled with trauma, emotions, abuse, and cult practices. This book gave me all the feels as someone who has had past trauma but this was not done in a bad way. I felt by the end of the book, more like I had a group session with other survivors and some healing had taken place. I could relate with Dynah on some of her struggles, Please *read trigger warnings* mental health is not talked about openly enough, in the end, it was a mostly HEA with a *to be continued soon hopefully because I need to see where this is going!

Elliot and Dynah story.
Dynah should never go through what she has experienced since she was a child. It broke my heart and I couldn’t understand what were her parents thinking? Sometime parents shouldn’t be parents. That being said this story will take you to places that are dark and it has some triggers so be forewarned.
This story gives me an insight to some of the characters problem that I might not have understood with out reading this story. I’m glad Elliot found Dynah, they needed each others support to be in a better place. So much to this story, you have to read it.

If I could find a man to worship me the way Elliot worships Dinah I’d be one happy woman.

In all honesty this book is fantastic if you’re looking for a step-sibling romance filled with religious trauma, trauma bonding, spice and more. There’s character growth, plot twists that literally made me gasp, and a strong FMC that despite her hardships, has kept her whit and sass, letting it ground her through the trauma.

And that ending?!?! I’m already anxiously awaiting book 2.

There are quite a few triggering topics covered in the book. Make sure to read the content warnings listed at the beginning of the book before proceeding to read it.

I read this in like 4 hours, and it was really good…until the switch. This happens a lot in books with trauma and revenge. The switch from her being traumatised to wanting to kill her father just wasn’t believable. It really took me out of the book. I’m not really intrigued as to what happens in the next book if I’m being honest.

But I loved Elliot, get me a man like that seriously.🤭 I liked the characters, you either loved or hated them. I’m glad Elliot and Dynah had somewhat of a happy ending. But yeah, I don’t regret reading this. I just wished there was more of a transition and the ending wasn’t rushed.

I swear every time I finish a book from Runa, I just here after thinking, "What the fuck did I just read?!" LOL!

This book is NOT for the faint of heart. It is a dark, dark, dark romance! There is no sugar coating in this book and has a lot of heavy, fucked up events. Runa really knows how to make you feel alllll the feelings and writes quite beautifully.

I really liked both MCs. I liked that they both overcame a lot of trauma and were made stronger by it.

1000% check the trigger/content warning!

Thanks again to Runa for allowing me to read and review this ahead of its release.
