Hazel Longuet - Biography

Hazel Longuet is the author of the House of Scarabs series, mythological action thrillers that follow a trio thrown together by a heritage passed down their family trees for over 3,000 years. A passionate reader, Hazel’s first love was always writing, and an unexpected illness enabled her to start writing the first book in her series, House of Scarabs. She draws from her varied life experiences to frame much of her writing.

Hazel Longuet’s survived a plane crash, a revolution, and even nearly drowned twice - so, to say she’s accident-prone is an understatement! A gypsy at heart, Hazel loves to travel. She has lived or worked in Bolivia, Colombia, Egypt, Dubai, and Sweden and has travelled to every continent except Australia. She was raised on the grounds of Longleat, an English Elizabethan stately home, where she cleaned out lions’ cages and guided tourists around areas of the house.

As an international business consultant, she was lucky to work with amazing companies and gain friendships with people from around the world. She now splits her time between Egypt and England, where she’s shadowed by her devoted Rottweilers, who are rumoured to be the inspiration for some characters in her novels.

Vapours by Hazel Longuet is a profoundly moving and unique collection that deftly bridges the gap between memoir and the paranormal, resulting in a reading experience that is as thought-provoking as it is emotionally resonant. This is not a book of sensationalized ghost stories, but rather a tender, authentic exploration of love, loss, and the subtle, often comforting, mysteries that linger at the edges of our perception.

Hazel Longuet writes with a compelling honesty and vulnerability, inviting readers into the most intimate moments of her life. The central premise, how profound paranormal experiences not only shaped her personal journey but ultimately led her to discover her voice as a writer, is captivating. Each story, from a poignant visitation decades after a death to a final farewell from a departed loved one, is handled with a delicate grace that prioritizes emotional truth over shock value.

The anthology’s strength lies in its powerful range of tone. It effortlessly delivers moments of genuine sweetness that warm the heart, passages of deep tragedy that stir empathy, and instances of pure, awe-inspiring wonder that leave you contemplating the nature of consciousness and connection. Longuet’s prose is clear, evocative, and perfectly suited to the material, making each “true life tale” feel both personal and universally relatable.

For anyone fascinated by the unexplained, Vapours offers a refreshingly sincere and literary perspective. It provides solace to those who have felt similar inexplicable presences and opens a door of wonder for the curious skeptic. Ultimately, this book is a beautiful testament to the idea that our bonds with those we love may transcend the boundaries we think we understand, and that sometimes, the most important stories are those whispered to us from the quiet, mysterious spaces just beyond sight. A truly touching and unforgettable read.
