Riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes, ruins what is a good story.

Violence Rating: 1/5 - Warning Growl

This book was extremely hard to read and finish. 5 stars for this? These people clearly had never read a 5 stars werewolf book if they considered this top.

There are so many mistakes and errors in it, that I really started questioning my own sanity. I had to re-read the same paragraphs over and over to make sure I don’t have eye problems. Mistakes ranged from grammar issues and scene errors to erratic punctuation, betraying only a chaotic mind littered with so many ideas and words that they just kind of spewed out and were left like that for us to make sense of them.

As a Romanian, I can tell you that a Werewolf in Romania is called a Vârcolac. Pricolici is basically a Spirit that transforms into an animal, usually a wolf (mostly described as a wolf because of our early fear of wolves which was related to Dacians), and it’s a supernatural creature. A Werewolf/Vârcolac is a myth and a cryptid, supposedly real, a living being. The lack of true research on the topic made the whole plot obsolete for me.

A very good part of the book is repetitive. We just follow this family day by day and what they do and the werewolf’s attacks. The other part is the drama between John and Pam and their obvious crumbling marriage, and her interest in Scott.

This problem between the parents is so obvious and yet the author insists on telling us how bad things are by mentioning all the time how much Pam is thinking about Scott. We got it, they both got the hots for each other and Pam is unhappy and unsatisfied. Sometimes subtlety is the key when trying to convey a message, but not here, no. In this book, you get at every interaction with Pam and Scott, to see how much they want each other. It's like a teenage, young adults drama.

The narrative is simplistic. Literally there are pages and pages of dumped actions and descriptions of what characters do. Something like: 'John was doing this...Billy sat down and...Pam was cooking...The guys went inside the car'. Seriously, this is just the manuscript of the book, ideas and sentences dumped without any editing, feels more like directives for actors on a movie set.

Every self respecting werewolf fan knows that the best part of a story is guessing who’s the beast and waiting to read about the horror, the carnage. This book had none of those. The werewolf's identity was too easy to guess and the gore, violence is almost PG13.

Last but not least, John, the father, smacks Dani's (daughter, a 18 y/o) butt as she walks away. I hope this was a mistake like any other in the book and it was meant to be Pam, cause this is just f’ed up. Even at the end of the book I still don’t know who Willy was. Was he Billy’s father or grandfather? We’ll never know because the words were used interchangeably in the book.

This was a very good book. However, some ARC readers would have gone a long way to help improve the errors. My favorite, with tongue in cheek, is this one:
"The *genital* breeze felt invigorating as he came to a stop and yelled at the sliver in the sky." Also, I liked the interplay with Origan and Orgon for Oregon.
Mr. James, your book was really very good. The characters were outstanding. The storyline, the plot, was great. I enjoyed it so much, I immediately bought The Awakening. If you should want an ARC reader, let me know. I'll be glad to add you to my list.

This was a fairly good story that was destroyed by the amount of time it took to decipher all the misspellings, grammar errors and other issues. I don't know if this book was dictated and then translated to type verbatim or if some other issue was the root cause but a great story was ruined by it. Invest in a good editor for your next try.

Thrilling Reading

A very interesting story, that makes you sit up and pay attention. IT is about A school principle and his sister almost 21 year old kid.
Moved from Oregon to a small country town, not long after they moved in some strange cattle mutilation stared to happen. A very exciting story and a not so surprising ending

The story itself really wasn't bad, but it was tough getting through this book. I did finish it, but the vast amount of spelling a grammatical errors were making it difficult. The characters were fine, albeit somewhat shallow and dialogue seemed to vary from pretty ok to rather simplistic and out of character.

Needs editing, but it's a good werewolf book

I almost gave this book 3 stars because of its lack of editing. But, the editing improved as the book went on. The characters were intriguing, and the storyline pulled me in quickly. All in all, if you like a good werewolf story, you'll like this book. I am so glad I finished it.

A Good Werewolf Story

This was a really good story with enough blood and gore to satisfy any fan of Werewolves. Although the werewolf’s identity was not a real surprise, the development of the storyline was very interesting and entertaining. Overall, as a Werewolf lover I really enjoyed this book.

Good story, bad edit review

The story was good and fast-paced. My only issue with the book is numerous spelling errors. It looks like the spelling was checked with an automated spell check tool. The words are correctly spelled but the wrong words for the sentence. For example, it said that he climbed into his trunk and drove off. I am sure it was supposed to be truck.

Good Story

It was a great story, but the spelling was horrendous. You literally had to piece some of the words in order for the sentence to make sense. Didn’t the author have SPELL CHECK??????

Some Issues

The premise was decent but the spelling and sentence structure was terrible. The grammar and punctuation were also terrible. This book needed a good editor. So many misspelled words…

Good story

It's a good story. , however, the grammatical errors majorly suck! I wish the author could have fixed his grammatical errors! The spelling is awful, and some of the sentences.
If you don't mind all the grammatical errors, then the reading for you is okay.

This is a great story line. Good character development and lots of scary moments. A fairly well developed story and they had moments of growth.

To the author: please, please have someone proofread your next manuscript. There are many, many typos that spellcheck is not going to catch.

imaginative

I liked the story in general. Some typos. Felt some of the characters were a bit shallow but then again so are some people in this world. So I can’t really fault the author.

First time reading!

Really good story! Good characters. I enjoyed the authors take on a classic genre.
The writing style was different, and the flow was a little odd, but, in the end, it was a really good book.

Loved it....

I loved this story. It reminded me of old movies and stories about werewolves. I am looking forward to and hoping for a followup story. I'm going to look for more of his books. I really enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed

It was long but it was interesting. I liked the slightly different take on the werewolf story. It needed proof reading for errors but they were mainly in the first half of the book. Overall it was entertaining

Too many errors

This is truly a decent story. However, there are so many errors in the book that it was honestly a chore to get thru it. The author needs a better proofreader and editor.

No one seems to have proof read the book. Became really annoying at all the misspellings and other errors. Took away a lot of the enjoyment of the book

Very good story, but the editing is very bad. So many mistakes it districts from the story. Still I would read more from this author.

Too many spelling mistakes. At one point I thought I was the one who couldn’t read properly. Also, is this a continuation or is this it, as far the story goes?

Good story, but...

Please let me edit your book...it's in dire need of a good editor. It could be very good with adjustments to the dialogue and fixing the continuity errors.
