Christmas on His Doorstep: A Western Historical Romance Book

“You think Christmas is going to fix everything?” he asked.
“No,” she said, “but maybe it’s a start.”
This Christmas, love arrives with a baby in her arms.

Estella never thought her Christmas would start with a train ride to Wyoming, clutching a baby that wasn’t hers... But after selling her father’s shop to give her late cousin a proper burial, she’s determined to raise her orphaned boy as her own. Becoming a mail-order bride was supposed to secure their future—but her new husband doesn’t even want her.

“I didn’t ask for this,” Christopher says, still haunted by the fire that took his wife and baby. For years, he’s kept the world at arm’s length, but the winter storm forces him to let Estella and her baby stay. She promises to organize his home, but her warmth starts to thaw more than his neglected house.

Snow falls, tempers flare, and walls begin to crack. But with the bank threatening the ranch and a mining company pressuring Christopher to sell, can they find hope—and love—before Christmas morning?

In a house made of frost, her warmth sparks a glow,
But healing’s a journey as cold winds still blow.
The snow whispers secrets, the heart learns to fight,
As hope finds its voice on a starry, clear night.

Now while I boast about enemies to lovers being my favorite trope, I cannot deny that I cannot skip a mail-order bride situation when it comes to historical romances. This one has a distraught young woman named Estella trying to give her dead cousin's infant son a family and a grumpy rancher who still grieves the wife and child he lost in a horrible fire.

Even though there is no wedding until the end of the book, this was a heartwarming slow burn/clean romance with a little action. I liked Estella and Chris as the main protagonists and enjoyed their interactions throughout the novel. Jackson, Abe, Vera, and Clementine were great supporting characters and I loved their scenes with the two protagonists just as much.

Western Historical Christmas Romance

Estella was travelling to meet her groom, with her cousins infant child. Her cousin had been writing to Christopher for months. Estella's cousin died in childbirth and she was going instead. It was not what she expected when she arrived during a terrible snow storm and the sheriff Abe picked her up because Christopher didnt know she was coming and when she arrived, Estella made a deal to clean his house until she could find different arrangements. Because Christopher did not want her or the baby.
This is a great western with lots of action.

The storyline is fabulous along with amazing and intriguing characters whether they are the heroes or the villains. It is also a page turner read.

This was. Good story of a couple struggling to find. Way to make a life. The sheriff had been writing to a lady for his friend. Well, she decided she couldn’t wait any longer to go to her groom to be. Surprise, he was not expecting her, more over, a child with her. Nkomo their finding happiness.

Ava Winter is a new to me author, who writes Western Historical Romances. Christmas on His Doorstep is a page turning mail order bride (not as expected) page turning read with relatable characters (Estella and Christopher), twist and turn plot, intriguing characters (heroes and villains). A great read, especially during a November Midwest winter storm.

Great Story

I really enjoyed reading this story. It's full of action and excitement. Seeing what both Estella and Christopher went through before they met each other, and then what they went through together was amazing. This really is a really good story.

This was a great story

I liked this book, having ridden in deep snow and bad winds, I could easily remember what that felt like! Loved the ending, though I didn't read the extended ending.

Once I started reading this story I could not put it down. Chris who lost his wife and son in a fire three years ago. The sheriff was writing letters to a woman to come west. I highly recommend this.

We will get through these hardtimes.

Was an interesting story. Two people thrown together in a blizzard. They need to rely on each others support through storms and someone who is trying to steal his ranch.

This really was a messed up read. A girl with a baby shows up to be a mail order bride. She is not welcome and is unprepared to care for herself or the baby. The man is grumpy and doesn't want her there.
