Adanna enjoys the sweet side of frilly clothes, adorable puppies, and walks in the fresh spring air are the thing for her. When she thinks she’s spotted something else sweet to add to her collection—a gorgeous man sitting on a bench sipping a bubble tea—she struts over to get her guy.
Too bad a misfit fairy accidentally turns the man, Harry, into a bubble tea before she can get there!
Thankfully, she can change Harry back. But first, Adanna has to fall in love with him, boba and all. Then they have to prove that love—physically.
How are they supposed to fall in love when one of them is a cup of tea? And does his straw go there or not?
My Date With Bubble Tea is part of The Sentient Object Calendar Series, a shared series curated by some of your favorite off-the-wall Biblio Barbie, Dakota Cockaday, Holly Wilde, Luna Cantrip, Nicole Parker, Sylvia Morrow, Thea Masen, Unfortunate Reads, and Vera Valentine. It’s meant for readers 18 and over who are ready to embrace a deeper experience with some unusual holidays.
The Story: Unhinged is unhinged but this one hit in just the right way. I loved the chemistry, and I completely fell for the story. I also sent out of context quotes to my friends, and it gave us lots of laughs.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this. I love bubble tea, and I love romance. I figured the straw and the boba pearls would come into play somehow… I just wasn’t imagining THAT 😂 You’ll just have to read it to find out!
This wasn’t an insta-lust or love situation, she really made him work for it. While they are initially attracted to each other, the FMC is much too practical for that. The MMC on the other hand is a hopeless romantic at heart, and all in from the jump. However, they actually take the time to date and get to know one another before fully turning him back, which I honestly appreciate so much.
One of my new favorites from Sylvia!! This sentient object romance isn’t just spicy, it’s incredibly sweet and super silly!! It warmed my heart and had me cracking up from beginning to end! This is definitely one of my favorite couples from Sylvia’s books. Harry is hilarious and a big sweetie! Adanna is absolutely gorg, smart & sassy! She’s a boba queen.
Review: This is my first ever sentient object romance read, and you know what, it was quite good! for being a short book, you learn a lot about the characters in that short time. Harry is actually pretty funny/quirky/cute and Adanna is witty and reasonable. I loved the minor conflicts that actually keep the story interesting! This was a great read and boosted my reading again. I enjoyed it!
From a pomeranian named Snappy to a 2 ft tall bubble tea man, and puns and spice galore! This is a new fave of mine by Sylvia. So cute, so funny and that spice! PHEW. Harry was absolutely ridiculous in the best ways. Loved it!!
Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews: “My Date with Bubble Tea” by Sylvia Morrow
Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.
Social Media Influencer and dog lover Adanna is enjoying a nice summer day at the park until she spots a handsome man sipping Boba Tea, and it's attraction at first sight. Before she can even blink, the man is accidentally transformed into a sentient Bubble Tea by a fairy and she's now tasked to connect with him in order for him to change back! Can this day get any weirder for her?
From the author that brought you “Goat Girl” and the Sentient Romance hit “Stuffed”, Sylvia Morrow does it again with her latest Rom-Com novel that acts as an installment in the author-collaborated “Sentient Object Calendar” series. A loose reimagining of “The Frog Prince”, this narrative is packed with comedic, relatable characters, magical dating hijinx, and not to mention, an adorable puppy that steals the show! I would go into more detail, but I don't want to spill the beans, or should I say..Boba! If you’re curious to check out this funny read, you can mark your “Sentient Calendar” for February 6th, 2024!

After making a post on Threads about wanting to read more Sentient Object Romance, the author kindly offered to send me a copy of her book 'My Date with Bubble Tea'.
I was told I did not have to review it, but I wanted to share my thoughts! <3
The story follows Adanna strolling through the park with her dog when she notices a handsome man (Harry) sitting on a bench. Before she can walk up to talk to him he suddenly vanishes, and in his place is a tall cup of bubble tea & a fairy fretting over her mistake.
The only way to reverse the transformation is for the MCs to fall in love with each other (and maybe have smex in his bubble tea form 🙂↔️)
If you're into
– 'he fell first' trope – smart and witty FMC – cute DOGGY 🐕 – hilarious banter – 🌶️ (it's wild but it works 😌) – short & fun reads
My Date With Bubble Tea by Sylvia Morrow 54 pages | Sentient Object | Weird Anatomy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️
Oh oh oh. This one was FUN. Lots of whimsical, funny remarks that kept the story light-hearted and perfectly weird (exactly what we’re going for here).
When a fairy accidentally drinkefies the guy of your dreams into a bubble tea, the FMC has to help him turn back into a man—but not in your typical “princess and the frog” way. Nope. This requires true love’s… intercourse. 🤣
How does one fall in love and have intercourse with a bubble tea? 👀 I won’t spoil the surprise, let's just say it wasn't quite what I expected. It was better. And it makes this one absolutely worth a read.
I laughed out loud through the entire thing, and somehow it still managed to be sweet as well as spicy. How this author made dating a bubble tea hot and wholesome is beyond me, but I loved it.
I’ll definitely be checking out more from this series. Books that don’t take themselves too seriously are my favorite kind of feral.
I am learning so much about myself with each new volume in this series. No, I will not elaborate.
What I will elaborate on is how much I loved this story. I can always count on Sylvia Morrow to make my cheeks ache from laughing and grinning so much. This is your classic true love’s kiss trope with a modern sentient object twist. Adanna has her eye on a cute guy at the park and is on her way to introduce herself when suddenly he’s gone and all that remains is his drink, a bubble tea. Turns out a fairy accidentally turned him said bubble tea. The fairy explains to them that she can’t fix it, but they can. They must fall in love, and it’ll take more than a kiss to turn this frog into a prince. Unfortunately, falling in love is rarely as easy as it is in the fairytales and this magic knows if your love is true. This story is so sweet and funny. Loved it.
this is juz... BOBA-licious!! adanna is a beatiful & smart analyst while tv screenwriter harry is... insufferable in the best ways!!! such lovable characters!! this read was def strange...yet oddly hot & satisfying!! & ridiculously funny!! lets not even count how many times i had to pause juz to cackle😆😆 overall another amazing addition to the series♥️

4⭐️ 2🌶️ - MF - Human/Giant Bubble Tea - Curse that needs to be broken - He falls first - Bobaposition (see what I did there?)
I love sentient object romance! It is so much fun to throw all logic and reason out the window and read about a woman getting it on with a giant cup of bubble tea and enjoying his textured “biodegradable renewable resource” all in the name of breaking a curse and finding true love.
Harry was such a romantic with golden retriever energy and Adanna was skeptical they could fall in love and use true love’s intercourse to return him to his tapioca free self.
I do wish Adanna was excited about the boba. I feel like there is a lot of crossover between sentient object romance readers and monster romance readers and who doesn’t love some good oviposition?
First off... Sylvia could write shampoo instructions, and I'd want to read it. She truly has a way with words.
If you are into
✨️ Sentient objects ✨️ cute little dressed up dogs ✨️ surprise appendages ✨️ cute pet names or ✨️ forced falling in love (but really it was bound to happen)
Read this! It's short sweet and to the point. I read it in like 2 hours and had such a fun ride with these characters. I never know how to review Sylvia's books because I don't want to give any of the good parts away.. so I'll leave you with another quote and beg you to just read this!
"Ive got a granny-style nightdress on, and somehow, I'm supposed to seduce you so well that you fall desperately in love with me?"
"Those nightgowns worked perfectly fine for plenty of grannies."
Adanna is mesmerized by the handsome man sitting on a park bench when he suddenly turns into a bubble tea. Thanks to a clumsy fairy failure. To get him back they have to fall in love. And while Harry, the bubble tea is all in, Adanna has her doubts about falling in love at first sight? Suck? Whatever....
This novella is so, SO fun. Amazing approach to sentient object romance. Harry still has the ability to talk and communicate with Adanna, making it clear he's 100% ready to go for a relationship, Adanna is way more reserved and takes her time to let him in fully. The schmut is VERY unique and I loved every second of it. Yet another entertaining story in the "Sentient Object Holiday Series" you should put on your TBR if you want to have a good time.
I was incredibly honoured to read this book before its release and I gotta say, it’s one of Sylvia’s most fun books. I’m a HUGE fan, especially of Stuffed and Goat Girl and this was right alone the lines of the fun and witty banter paired with some steamy scenes. This book had me hooked from the first chapter and I couldn’t put it down. Sylvia has a way of taking these quirky, strange, weird stories and making her characters relatable. The lead in this story is such a sweetheart and I appreciate how she chooses to represent her female leads in all her books. If you want a fun read to pass a cold and snowy afternoon, grab this book, a mug of hot chocolate, and run yourself a bubble bath. You won’t regret it!
I think I say this every time I read a book by Sylvia Morrow, but I don’t know where her incredible mind comes up with all her stories. All I know is that I hope it lasts because reading a story by Sylvia Morrow always gives me the serotonin boost I need for my mental health.
In My Date With Bubble Tea, the story begins in a park with a young woman walking her dog—who is in a stroller herself—and crossing paths with a handsome man sitting on a bench sipping bubble tea. One fairy and a sneeze later, the charming young man has now become the bubble tea.
I really enjoyed this novella. It’s both unexpected and very funny. It fits perfectly into The Sentient Object Holiday series. Harry’s humour is a bit corny, but it still made me smile a lot and I’m always a fan of a very smart FMC like Adanna is. I also loved Snappy and her stroller.
I highly recommend this novella. Now I’m going to dream of a good bubble tea—but a little less of the boba; my brain needs to get over it.
Thanks to Sylvia Morrow for giving me the opportunity to receive an ARC of My Date With Bubble Tea. This review is my own. All opinions expressed are mine.
Thankyou Sylvia and Bookfunnel for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a very short romance about an influencer who is just minding her own business one day when she spys a HOT man in the dog park and it all goes wrong! He is transformed into a bubble tea... can she fall in love with him so he can return to his human self?! I don't think I could have but I was so happy that she did!
This has a HEA and was a funny quick read. There are trigger warnings in the book and if you are not a usual reader of Sentient Romance I would read this before picking the book up as I was SUPRISED at one point (but I did love it haha!)
Adanna enjoys the sweet side of frilly clothes, adorable puppies, and walks in the fresh spring air are the thing for her. When she thinks she’s spotted something else sweet to add to her collection.
Too bad a misfit fairy accidentally turns the man, Harry, into a bubble tea before she can get there!
Thankfully, she can change Harry back. But first, Adanna has to fall in love with him, boba and all. Then they have to prove that love—physically.
Such a fun read, Harry is so witty and fun and Adanna is not far behind, perfect read if you want something fun and spicy to read.
Omg this was hilarious!!! I have been looking forward to this book, and this entire series for a while. Love this band of amazing authors out here giving us all the spice and answering all of our questions. Exactly how do you take your bubble tea? Another banger! Love how Sylvia is always able to find the perfect balance between building cute characters, answering all my questions about how it would work, and keeping it extremely spicy and fun. Highly recommend!
If you love bubble tea, you have to read this! It’s funny, features two mischievous pixies, and, of course, has plenty of spice. I absolutely loved this short story—I really missed Sylvia’s sentient romances; they’re some of my favorites—super sweet and silly. I couldn’t stop laughing, especially at the part with the tapioca pearls! 🤣
Even though the story is short, we still get to see the full development of these two characters’ love story.
This book was exactly what I needed at this time: a silly and smutty low-stakes read. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the little fate element.
Harry gets accidentally turned into a gigantic bubble tea drink when a fairy loses control of her magic while sneezing. Because Adanna witnessed the whole situation, it seems that fate is at work and that true love will be necessary to break the spell. Fortunately, Harry is a romantic at heart and is determined to get Adanna to fall in love with him.
This story is snack-sized and perfect as a palate cleanser between heavier reads. It's funny and spicy with a happy ending; great for those who enjoy sentient object romance!
I have received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
I could not have loved this more. I was absolutely laughing out loud. As much as I don’t love to compare authors, I would easily say that I would put her right next to Holly Wilde as my favorite sentient object author because yes 🙌🏽. The puns are what makes these so damn good.
Is it ridiculous? Yup. Will you have a blast reading it? Hell yes.
Adorable read from Sylvia. Our MFC spots a cute man while out walking her dog and is getting ready to shoot her shot, when a fairy turns him into bubble tea! In order to undo this magical mishap, they gotta have true loves first bang. Full of fun puns, Sylvia takes us a bit further than just the first bang, and we get to see our characters fall in love.
Amazing! This is the first book I’ve read in this series and I’m so ready for more!
The puns! The smart, hot, rich woman and the artsy man. I love that coupling so much! Genuinely burst out laughing so many times and it was, as all sentient romance is, weirdly hot.
I honestly kind of liked the boba action? It reminded me of ovipositor stuff and I’m so down with that!
OK, let's spill the tea - It's 25% sweet, a little nutty, and contains sp-ice. This was such a fun read! I adored the character dynamics with Harry being the bubbly, artsy, and romantic one while Adanna was the smart and sceptical one. It's short, very creative, and hilarious - I really enjoyed it!
One of the best sentient romance I've ever read. The puns were top tier. Just the RIGHT amount of corn and sweetness (25% iykyk) to make you kick your feet. For lovers of amazing smut, weird peens, bubble tea, and cozy romance...this one's perfect for you.
This is the first story I've read by Sylvia Morrow and it was such a wild, fun and endearing read! I loved seeing the genuine connection grow between Adanna and Harry. I also really enjoyed the light humor and banter in this too! The magical elements were a lot of fun and almost gave this a fairytale-like vibe. Overall, this was an enjoyable read!
I will say it’s an adorable love story. I’ll be honest though I am uncomfortable about her fmc being a black woman and I almost didn’t finish once I realised but I did. I had to see how it went. I’m still very uncomfortable and I didn’t like it. The story itself is good but writing a black woman and using her blackness to move the story along was not it.
Cute short sentient romance story. I loved the MMC, he was just a romantic. The plot progressed quite quickly and both characters were easy to love. I personally had now idea how this all would work out but it worked.
Insta love on Harry's part but I loved him so much! He was so.. bubbly LOL He was charming and witty. Adanna was so funny too and had the real skepticism down. This was such a fun read!
