All ten year old Nathan Evans wants is a reprieve from his lonely, painful, aristocratic existence. On a frigid Christmas Eve, the solace of the Northumberland hawthornes call to him. Instead of frostbite, he finds a warm hearth and the lovely dimples of a Scottish lad whose infectious joy and kindness threatens to thaw even his frozen heart.
Years and Christmases pass, and Hamish McKenna becomes more than a friend, he is the sanctuary Nate cannot live without. But the ease of childhood gives way to the complexities of adolescence and forbidden feelings neither can fight.
A soft brush of fingertips, a fumbling first kiss, and the fear of destroying their friendship slips away— replaced by the undeniable pull of a bond forged in friendship and illuminated by passion. But when the stark realities of adulthood, the arduous responsibilities of Nathan’s title, and the threat of society’s judgment cast a shadow over their blossoming future, will the scant light of the December sun see them through another Christmas together?
Spanning decades, Snowdrop for a Scot, is a breathtaking and devastating tale of friendship, found family, lust, love, and loss. This friends to lovers story brings together two lonely souls under the falling snow.
Laura's love of literature began in the long hours with her mom and a stack of library books. Writing was the natural progression. Prior to the creation of A Wildflower for a Duke, most of her writing as an adult had been relegated to constructing ridiculous sentences to inspire her homeschooled children to practice their reading, and creating fundraising posts for her animal rescue non-profit. But long hours of nursing babies and waiting in the wings for co-op classes provided slivers of time to read, so read she did. And in those stolen moments, Laura rediscovered her love of historical romance.
When she isn't writing, Laura can generally be found outside romping with her slightly feral children or hiding from her five-year-old who wants to play "Exploding Kittens" for the six millionth time. Despite having fostered countless animals over two decades, she somehow still receives surprised texts from her husband when he arrives in the kitchen to find a random baby goat or three-legged puppy.
Snowdrop for a Scot is one of those books that will always live in my heart. The sweetness, love, and joy these two found in each other was so pure and unconditional. Although they came from completely different worlds, theirs was a love given freely without expectations of change or of being anyone other than who they were.
I loved watching them transition from childhood friends who were filled with youthful doubts to lovers who knew the value of their bond and would not let anything keep them apart. A perfectly balanced dynamic with a mutual exchange of support, love and effort. They had a powerful, selfless love that extended to everyone around them transforming their lives for the good as well.
Even knowing how this was going to end, I could not stop turning the pages. The 'show, don't tell' writing style allowed me to experience the world and emotions right alongside the characters. I adored every meaningful, beautiful, impactful word. I cherished every moment I got to spend with these two. I've always doubted the saying "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" but this story has made me a believer.
A Wild Flower For a duke https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... , Laura Linn’s debut novel was one of my absolute favorite reads of 2023. This is where we are first introduced to Hamish, Violet and (sort of) Nathan. This prequel novel (which I recommend you read AFTER Wildflower) Nate and Hamish first meet as boys and become fast friends. Hamish’s simple but loving family farm becomes a refuge for Nathan, the abused son of a cruel and indifferent Baron/Baroness. As they get older they find themselves drawn to each other as they turn into teenagers and then men untill they both can’t deny the love they have for each other. How they both meet Violet and then how Violet becomes a part of Nathan and Hamish’s life is such a beautiful story of love, friendship and sacrifice. Wildflower left some gaps of the origin story for these 3 characters (and also how Zach, their son had come to live with them) so Ms Linn writing this story was such a nice surprise that I didn’t know how much I needed Knowing how this story would end was difficult the more I read Ms Linn’s beautiful love story of Nathan and Hamish and I put off the last part until I had a quiet moment to myself to finish it so that I could do my own grieving for Nathan. Laura, Thank you so much for writing this.

This is the story of Nathan & Hamish - a baron’s heir and a shepherd’s son - who meet on a cold winter’s day when they’re both ten years old. One comes from a warm loving nest, the other is barely tolerated by his short-tempered pretentious father. They become best friends, and as they grow, so do their feelings...
If you’ve read one or both of the previous books by this author, you’ll know the inevitable outcome of this book... I knew, and still my heart shattered into a million pieces.
Although Christmas plays an important part in this tale, this isn’t your usual sweet and sappy holiday romance. It spans nearly three decades and it’s the moving life story of two men finding a way to make their impossible love work. It’s a unique young woman - their childhood best friend - fleeing her abusive stepfather and finding a safe haven. It’s a gifted but misunderstood little boy finding a true family. It’s about unconditional friendship, loyalty, passion, pining, jealousy, struggle, heartbreak, hurt, compassion, care and being brave. It’s about getting knocked down and rising stronger. It’s about responsibility, expectations, disagreements and disappointments. Intense happiness, guilt and fear. Laughter, tears, sacrifice, patience and compromise. It’s discovery and exploration of the sizzling steamy kind. It’s pure and honest love in all its shapes and sizes, and I think it’s breathtaking! An emotional masterpiece and a story that will stay with me for a long time to come!
I don’t know that I can do this book justice with my words. It follows Hamish and Nate over decades, and their love story is absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful. I adored every word, even the ones that ripped my heart in two and left me sobbing. I can’t wait to read more by Laura Linn.
Omg what an absolutely beautiful story of love, friendship, and unconditional devotion to those you love. I could not put it down. I laughed, cried, and totally felt all the emotions. Hamish and Nate's love was unbelievable beautifully written. And their friendship and devotion to their friend Violet. Unconditional but thoroughly moving. I will remember this book for a long time.
