Hearts and Hidden Identites: A Pride and Prejudice Novella Variation

Attention: Please note that this is the second edition of this book. Apart from an updated formatting, the book has improved on the first version, added more romance and content than the previous edition, corrected some distance error and updated its formatting. AFTER AN UNEXPECTED MEETING IN LONDON, Elizabeth Bennet is haunted by memories of the enigmatic gentleman she danced with at the masquerade ball. When Mr. Darcy arrives alongside Mr. Bingley at Netherfield Park a year later, she is soon shocked to realize he is the same man who had won her heart that night. Elizabeth's feelings, however, are complicated by Darcy’s apparent aloofness, his refusal to dance with her at the local assembly, and Wickham's tale of how ungentlemanly Darcy had treated him.

DARCY CANNOT FORGET THE MYSTERIOUS LADY from the London masquerade ball. Despite his growing attraction to Elizabeth, he is torn by the lingering hope of finding the woman who captured his heart that night. Conflicted, he maintains his distance, unaware that the two women are one and the same.

WHEN ELIZABETH BENNET OVERHEARS MR. BINGLEY urging his brooding friend Mr. Darcy to move past his obsession with the mysterious masked lady from the London masquerade ball, she realizes Darcy is the man she shared a dance with that night. Though tempted to reveal her own identity as his masked dance partner, uncertainty keeps Elizabeth quiet.

A CRISIS THREATENS TO TEAR THEM APART FURTHER. Darcy’s beloved sister, Georgiana, faces a health scare that demands his full attention. Determined to protect his sister, Darcy leaves for London, torn between his responsibilities, his lingering feelings for the masked lady, and his growing attraction for Elizabeth. How will Darcy react when he discovers the truth? Will Elizabeth reveal her identity? Will Georgiana's health crisis push Darcy and Elizabeth closer together or drive them further apart? Will Elizabeth set aside her prejudice and see Darcy beyond the light of Wickham’s tale?

"HEARTS AND HIDDEN IDENTITIES" is the author’s first book about the enduring love of the main characters from Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.” A charming, enemies-to-lovers, happily-ever-after variant, this heartwarming story will leave you breathless and longing for more. I liked the premise. I was annoyed at the bad geography though. Pemberley closer to London than Merton? No way.
