This is an interesting and thoughtful exploration of life after death, framed through the experiences of two young women from different backgrounds. This book, seemingly written for a younger audience, offers readers a unique perspective on what it means to move on after loss.

The story follows Sienna and Cassidy, two young women who couldn't be more different. Their lives shift dramatically after a tragic car accident, leading them both to the afterlife. Forced to confront their biases and pasts, they must learn to work together and face truths about themselves and each other. One of the most compelling aspects of this book is the development of Sienna and Cassidy's relationship.

While I personally do not love the inclusion of real-life religious themes, it handles different beliefs with sensitivity and inclusiveness, acknowledging multiple cultural perspectives on the afterlife. It is respectful to a diverse audience and is not an overwhelming aspect, luckily.

Webb's portrayal of grief and loss is particularly noteworthy. Through the journeys of Sienna and Cassidy, the book delves into the complexities of mourning and the process of moving on. The characters' struggles with accepting their deaths and finding purpose in their new roles as spirit guides offer a meaningful exploration of how individuals cope with loss and the ways in which they find healing. I thought it was lovely.

This is a heartfelt and insightful novel that tackles important themes with grace and sensitivity. It is an excellent choice for young readers dealing with grief, as well as anyone interested in an imaginative exploration of life after death.

Holy schmoly! What an INCREDIBLE book.

I read a fair number of YA books, but most are geared toward the older end of the spectrum. This one is accessibly for the younger end which is so nice to see. The language is easy and flows well. The actions of the two main characters Sienna and Cassidy are believable. It’s very well put together.

I loved Cassidy’s character from the beginning. I understood her and her need to have her wall up and how that affected her actions. When I discovered why (no spoilers here) I really felt for her. Our circumstances were different, again no spoilers, but growing up in a difficult family dynamic I understood why she acted the way she acted. I’m not condoning it, or saying her iciness and alienation of people is okay. I understand it.

Sienna was a harder character for me. She quits when things get tough and that bothered me a lot. I’m a believer that the best things are worth fighting for. Of course, we are who we are and she has a a lot of great qualities too. She’s whip smart and she has a deep compassion I wish I had. In the end I felt really drawn to her as I witnessed her maturity.

The world this author created is easy to understand and frankly, straight up beautiful. She made death digestible and not scary. I’m not normally a soulmate kind of person, but I like the way it was handled here. Having a soulmate didn’t make any relationship magically easy. Everyone continued to work hard to have healthy relationships.

This book hangs on a cliffhanger and I’m curious what is going to come next. The town of Fleet needs Sienna and Cassidy.

TW: brief descriptions of fatal vehicle crash

I 100% decided to read this book based on the cover alone. After the first few chapters, I was worried that I wasn't going to enjoy it; Christian fantasy isn't my thing and I have trouble reading books written in present tense. However, I was quickly pulled into the story when the two main characters really began to come to life...which is ironic, because it's when they're training go become spirit guides in the afterlife.

Sienna and Cassidy never got along, yet somehow they're stuck training together. I loved seeing them both finally open their eyes and realize that things weren't always the way they seemed, and maybe they needed to learn from each other's experiences.

I am so excited to see where this story goes, and I'm so happy that the sequel is already out---now I just have to sneak it onto my TBR without all the other books knowing.

I can’t wait to see what Cassidy and Sienna get up to next — and I have some theories about them 🙈 I really enjoyed reading this, and it was so fun, while also being pretty… deep? I don’t know what words to say.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book with its Good Place-esque vibes and well-drawn characters. It was such an interesting take on what might come next for us - the highlight for me was definitely how the new life of Sienna and Cassidy is imagined and how they interact with the people they have left behind - and all the rules and leisure activities involved. I really liked that both protagonists were so markedly different, with old prejudices influencing how they felt about each other and that they still managed to learn to afford each other kindness and work together. And while some aspects of the life behind our current life were a little too binary and Christianity-adjacent for my personal taste and I would have liked to go without the whole soulmate concept (it always gives me the ick, but that's just me), 'Spirited' still was a highly entertaining and rewarding read for me.

What a gripping read!! I absolutely loved this book. It was fun, inspiring, and thought provoking.

This is a story that embraces the theme: what happens after we die? Is there an afterlife? The possibilities are endless and S.M. Webb explores this a great deal throughout this story.

It's humbling and deals with very raw emotions that I think are essential to both the reader and characters. And Webb manages to do this with a lighter tone that makes it easy to digest and connect with. It's the perfect blend of adventure and self-reflection. It's a fantastic read and I think a must for anyone exploring this theme!

Well done, Webb!!! What a stunning debut to a world beyond the living ❤️

Spirited, is an inspiring story for anyone who has lost a loved one and grapples with the question, is there an afterlife? And what happens to our loved ones after they die?

In an honest and unassuming tale, Author S.M Webb pours her heart and soul into this story with grace and humility that stirs the soul while unpacking the not-so-human, experience of life after death.

Filled with messages of hope, comfort and peace, the reader is led to only two conclusions—there is life in the clouds and we are eternally connected to our loved ones after they transition to the other side.

Profoundly moving!

I cannot express how much I loved this book. In a way, it’s a coming of age story, but it’s done in a way that’s unexpected and different. Watching Sienna and Cassidy learn, struggle, fight, and each come to an understanding about themselves and the other was so incredibly fascinating. There’s still so much more for them to do and learn, I can’t wait for the next part of their story. I absolutely recommend this book for anyone who loves a well done coming of age tale, and anyone who wants to dip their toes into the world of paranormal fiction.

At first I wasn't sure where the book was going and how these two were going to relate to each other but I did find it a really interesting idea that their passing was planned in such a way that they are perfect compliments to each other.

This whole book definitely plays with the idea of what happens after death and I wouldn't be mad to find a place like that in the end. Where you can still work on your passions that maybe had a back seat in life. I did think Sienna would continue her videos and I hope there is the option for her too after all the big bad that was set up. And for Cassidy to fight for fun instead of because she has to. But I think both girls should thrive in their new situation.

The only thing keeping this from being a 5 was that neither girl wanted to acknowledge, until the end, that they should maybe talk and find out about each other's lives so they can no longer be seen as either naive or clueless and finally gain that common ground. I get it, they both had their ideas and it was gonna take possibly quitting to make them see things but lack of communication usually annoys me a little. Regardless it was still a really good book and I do wanna see how they can stop the ember that's threatening them.

It’s hard to call this a coming of age book, as it is looking at life after death, but that’s the feeling this book gives me. In this book, we follow Sienna and Cassidy after a devastating bus crash resulting in their crossing over to the clouds (basically heaven).

Upon crossing together, they are forever linked together despite never getting along when on Earth. They soon learn that even in the clouds, there is much for them to do to influence earth. The girls take on the journey of becoming guides—spirits that help influence people on Earth and guide them in the right direction and warriors—the defence against the spirits that go in the other direction.

BUT they have to do it together. This book has a lot of heart wrenching moments that got to me. I definitely had some tears at points. There is a strong focus on addressing grief and moving forward through loss, and for a YA book, this was a very deep emotional dive.

There is also a strong focus on understanding that people have their own stories, traumas that we don’t see, happening behind closed doors. Overall, this was a very interesting read with some mature, important topics. The book ended on a cliff hanger and I’m curious where it will be going next!

I had the pleasure of being one of the first to read Spirited. This book is so refreshing in the sense it makes you think the impossible.
S.M. Webb has an exquisite way with words. Brilliantly molded the unlikeable characters into likable. She formed the spirited world you only dream of going to one day.

I found this book very enjoyable and a must read! I also recommend gifting it for your teens as well.

Spirited is a beautifully written story about life after death, illustrated through the experiences of two young women who are polar opposites of one another. While written for a younger audience, this novel offers a unique perspective on what it means to move on after loss.

Sienna and Cassidy’s lives are transformed after a tragic car accident that leads them to the afterlife. Webb does an excellent job in portraying grief and loss. The girls struggle to accept their deaths and go through an emotional journey to find healing.

This book is an excellent choice for young readers dealing with grief and anyone interested exploring what life after death might look like.

Spirited is an interesting story about what happens after death. The story follows Sienna and Cassidy, who are very different from each other but after a car accident they are now in the afterlife and they need to find a way to work together and confront their past and find the truth about themselves. Their relationship is one of my favorite parts of this book! Seeing them grow individually and together was wonderful! The book does end with a cliffhanger so it will be interesting to see where the story goes next!

I wasn’t sure what to think when I started to read but I’m glad I kept going.
From the dual POVs, character growth, understanding, and so many emotions while reading I couldn’t put the book down.
I was really looking forward to learning how Cassidy and Sienna would learn to put their judgments aside.
Can’t wait to read book 2!

I'm going to start this by saying it's a YA which I normally don't read. It reads as younger YA which isn't a bad thing just not my preference.
That being said this story was really well written! It's a good story that gives us a look into a world where death isn't necessarily the end. You see the recurring theme of what happens after we die? Is there such a thing as an afterlife? throughout this book.
It is an emotional book that ends on a cliffhanger, and our characters Cassidy and Sienna have flaws but are beautiful characters, their journey (believe it or not) is just beginning.

Spirited: No Accidents was beautifully written and tackled the harder subjects really well. Pegged as a book that questions what happens after we die, Spirited really brought that question to life within the pages of this novel.
The characters I felt were a contrast to each other, Cassidy had her personal issues and once we started to learn about her background it became easier to accept the way she was. Sienna was a tough cookie, though her ability to give up easily was a stark contrast to what I thought her character was. That being said both characters were developed well and I liked them both.
I really liked the way this novel was written, the descriptions were full and gave the storyline depth and it tackled hard topics but still gave hope.

This was an inspiring read. It had me deep in thought throughout.

What happens when we die?

The authors' approach to this subject was unique and enlightening. A richly detailed deep dive into the afterlife.
The story is based on self-discovery, grief, and loss.

I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with lots of emotion. It also had a lot of laugh out loud moments.
I loved the two main characters. They were both very different, and reading their growth and struggles, and how much they were trying, it was very touching.

I am looking forward to what comes next.

I really enjoyed this story. If you are intrigued by the afterlife, fate, angels, & spirits, this book is perfect for you. The author does an amazing job crafting a super detailed version of how many levels & paths there can be after we pass from Earth. It's clear that the author cut no corners in thinking over all options when building this beautiful & also sometimes scary look at how life after death continues for our spirit.

The main story centers around two teenage girls from a smaller community who are on very separate paths & neither particularly likes the other. However, due to an accident, they both end up in the afterlife together & are forced to work together to find themselves & to help those who they have left behind on Earth. The story can sometimes feel a little slow & you're not sure what path it's taking you down, but there's mystery to it always pulling you forward. The last third of the book does an amazing job of emotionally pulling you into both characters' paths as well as explaining the reasons behind their personality differences. Blending these things perfectly while shining a light on how expansive the universe is in the afterlife.

You don't want to put the book down because you're so curious to see how this ends. The ending is so perfect to give you some closure but also leaves you with so much excitement for what is about to happen in the rest of the series. If you're looking for a sweet, interesting, wholesome mystery about friendship, family, & life after death this series will have you breathlessly flipping the pages to the end & ready to jump right into book 2.

S.M. Webb's ‘Spirited: No Accidents’ is a captivating exploration of the afterlife, blending a sense of adventure with self-reflection. The story delves into the profound question of life after death, examining the endless possibilities that might arise in this realm beyond. The book approaches this weighty theme with a lighter tone, making it easily digestible. I connected with both the characters and their underlying emotions.

The story is both humbling and emotionally raw, dealing with the complexities of loss. I commend Webb for transforming somewhat unlikeable characters into endearing figures. Just goes to show how you can’t judge a person by their… uhh, cover? The strained relationship between our protagonists is richly detailed, and the story left me with an impression even after the book concluded.

‘Spirited: No Accidents’ is an exploration of the trials of teen-age, intertwining with the complexities of growing up, friendship, love, and self-discovery. The imaginative writing brings the story to life, emphasizing the transition into a new reality rather than the existence of death.

The book’s fantastical journey into the afterlife, led by two spirited young women, not only entertains but also provokes thoughtful reflection. ‘Spirited: No Accidents’ is a moving and comforting read.

This was definitely a bit different than what I thought the book would be, and I did like it.

This is a present day story where two girls that don't have much in common and don't really care much for each other, are now bound by fate on what their future will be.

Due to a horrible accident, the two main characters, Siena and Cassidy unfortunately die, but find themselves tied together in a way when the come to the after life. Decisions that they make reflect on each other, and they have to work on their differences to not only help each other but those around them.

This is an interesting book that really deals with grief when losing love one, but also seeing the side from those who have died also. And for the characters to not only interact with their loved ones on earth, but also in the after life, shows how they deal with their grief.

It is written for a younger audience than myself, but it can help others too.

I can't wait to read the next book

This was my first read of the year 2024 and it has been a very inspiring b0ok as it made me wondered what really happened to us when we died some day.

The storyline was very heartwarming at time and the author manage to perfectly capture the emotions Cassidy and Sienna. I can feel the hurt that Sienna felt when she first visited the Earth after crossing over. Have to admit, I did feel a little annoyed at both of them because they were too quick to judge each other. There was a great character development as well towards the end of the book and that made me smiled to myself. Apart from that, what I loved the most was how we complemented each other due to the differences that we have and it should not be an obstacle in the effort to work together.

All in all, this book is highly recommend to everyone out there, and I for sure could not wait for book 2!

This is such a moving story. The difference between Sienna and Cassidy's lives, from family situation to circumstances, is stark. They each have their own misconceptions and struggles, but death really is an equalizer. I wasn't expecting to like Cassidy as much as I did so early. The way Sienna introduces her, I was preparing myself to hate her. But, of course, the face she presents to the world isn't the whole story, and her life behind closed doors broke my heart. Sienna has had so much loss in her past, my heart went out to her for an entirely different reason. The story itself is compelling, and moves along at a smooth pace. I loved the supernatural aspects, death, the afterlife, angels, it all just fit smoothly into the story. Oh, and that ending? I need more!

Spirited is a beautifully penned take on the afterlife, grief, acceptance, and moving on.

That being said, I honestly don't know how to review this book. It was a tough one for me to read, especially when it came to Sienna's dad trying to move on.

The pacing was slower than most books I read, but it was well-suited to this book.

I enjoyed the author's take on the afterlife or "The Clouds" and the choices that everyone is given. Although, if Heaven is sunny every day, it's going to be rough for those of us who prefer rainy days. :)

Sienna and Cassidy were well-written, and I love how Webb shows the reader that a "perfect" life may be anything but and that you really never know what somebody is going through.

Webb creates a beautiful world in which death is very much the beginning of a new and exciting journey for the young characters whose story we follow. The complexities of growing up, of friendship, love and finding out who you were destined to be are still the heart of this story which makes its exploration all the more innovative and intriguing. The complex relationship between the two lead characters is handled with humour and leaves you, surprisingly, rooting for them both. How their journey continues is left hanging and will make you desperate for the next instalment.
