Epic romance, two heroes at a time! My story universe features warriors and blacksmiths, rescue swimmers and hockey players, treasure hunters and time travelers, and quite a few shifters. My favorite kind of hero: a grumpy f*cker who’ll do anything for the man he loves.
This is the first Mia West that I feel has let me down. I decided to wait it out and not read chapter to chapter on AO3. I wanted it in one satisfying go. Sadly, I'm not very satisfied. It felt too jumbled, not enough time with each POV to establish or reestablish bonds with characters. I'm glad I read it. I love supporting her work, but feel she has done so much better. Some if her characters live rent free in my brain in the best ways. If you enjoy this new twist on the Arthur legend, give this series a go. Thankfully, this was a short one. I'm hoping the next book resolves many issues.
How wonderful to get another book in this immersive and epic series. By this stage, the characters are so familiar and so beautifully drawn that the reader is plunged into the action and emotion in Mia West's wonderful take on the Arthurian legend.
I liked this installment better than book 7, but I thought there were too many POVs. It was hard to keep up with. I'm also still pretending that Britte and Uthyr aren't a thing. Thankfully I didn't have to skim too many scenes there. Looking forward to the last book, though.
