Hearts on Fire #1

Fire's Resonance

Rate this book
She burns in my blood before I ever touch her.

A human glass artist with flame in her veins. My flame. My signature. The one I’ve kept hidden since they called it defective. Since they exiled me.
Now her scent calls me home. Her body begs to be claimed.

But the Guardian Bond doesn’t ask. It takes.

She glows when I touch her. Moans when I growl. And when I mark her, the entire sanctuary erupts—statues awaken, corruption shatters, and the council falls silent.
They call it prophecy. I call it mine.
I’ll fight their laws. I’ll burn their enemies. I’ll break every sacred rule to keep her breathing beneath me.

Because I wasn’t meant to be pure. I was meant to protect.

And if the clan wants to test my fire again?
She’s not just my mate.

She’s the reason I become a goddamn dragon.

Read on for explosive mating fever, enemies within, forgotten prophecies, and a scarred warrior finally claiming what was always his. HEA Guaranteed!

did not get into

This world and feel like it was “real” as with some of authors other books I have read. Recommend getting some blunt test readers.
The story dragon world and human purity people were not logical or believable. The relationship back and forth was not as well. Felt like scenes would progress then they back stepped many time over same things. Foster sister relationship was another unfocused and could have been developed differently.
Almost changed rating over the corruption plot part but liked the dragons. Whole long corrupted plot was another unfocused and not believable part. Not sure I will read another in series even though I have like others by author.

I liked the plot, but overall, it was very repetitive. And sometimes they speak in full sentences, and others its like they are cavemen talking, which was odd.

A captivating read, wonderful characters and a read that will hold you captivated
Raaks story is all about the grey flames that have marked him as being inferior within his first 4 elemental fire Clan and the truth of the fire that is buried within him.
Then the actual unique quality of his dragon fire begins to show in it’s the elf in the art of the creative glass workers designs; he is drawn to her talented ability which calls to his fire.
The mysterious artist amasses pieces that call out to capture living flame, these are triggers for the Guardian Bond. These are the elemental bonds that could form when the dragon kind faced extinction. Spark and Raak’s flames combine creating protective magic which had been lying dormant for centuries.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Protect first. Claim later. Love always.

Instead of burning the crimson fire of the royal family, Raak's grey flames always marked him as something inferior within the Fire Clan. The truth of the nature of his fire was buried deep by those with nefarious intentions. But when the unique signature of his dragon fire begins appearing in the art of a human glassworker, he is drawn to it and her.

Meeting Spark, the mysterious artist whose pieces seem to capture living flame, triggers the Guardian Bond... The first of 4 elemental bonds that would form when dragonkind faced extinction. Spark and Raak's flames combined to create new protective magic which had laid dormant for centuries.

Fire's Resonance brought us solid world building and character development, as well as a great mix of romance, intrigue and betrayal. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Great book about a glass artist who has unusual abilities and the dragon who saves her and takes her to an underground world of the dragon realm. Here, they discover that she not only has dragon blood, but the two of them are connected through a Guardian Bond, something thought long extinct. It seems that the first of four bonds has manifested, bonds that mean the clan is about to face a threat. Now, Raak just has to keep Spark safe long enough for her transformation to occur, but there are forces within the clan that don't want a human in their sanctuary and at least one who wants her dead. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

A sweet romance

This is book one of the series. The author built the world throughout the entire book. The male lead, a hybrid dragon and human, was always bullied by full dragons due to his differences. He has worked doubly hard to prove his worth in the clan. Yet still some council leaders harass him. He meets the lead female by mate pull. The trouble is that she does not know that she has a special power and is a bit more than just a human. The book focuses on the male dragon working to convince the human female that she is his bonded and their bond is something rare and precious. There is a happy ending for now. Read On!

2.5* I will say upfront I'm a very harsh critic. Don't get me wrong I do like this book and it could have been a great book. I understand fighting with yourself over what your body wants vs what your mind thinks is right. But the constant repeating of the exact same thing over and over just gets old. If they would have focused more on expanding the storie with more background and details. A lot of the focus was on wanting to have sex - denying wanting to have sex and complaining about the circumstances of her life. I wanted more background, more about the dragon world and how they live.

Raak and Spark, great names, are the newest couple to join the MT couple lineup. I love reading the first book in a new series. There's always so much to learn, so many new and intriguing elements to discover. This book is a very welcome addition to my MT books, mainly because it features dragons and a whole dragon realm. I love dragons. I had a great time reading this story, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Great story

Spark, a human, had abilities with fire, no one understood, until she created a link to a dragon, who found his mate through her flame art. However, the mate bond turned into something stronger and ancient, and I'm not telling!

Always enjoy Millies books, but somehow this one has a different feel to it, a little more serious storyline that absolutely works.
Into book two..

Very Good Story

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the story between Raak and Spark is interesting and dimensional. It encompasses a World Spark was not aware of, mysteries of her nature and of his nature. It was a really good start to a series and I look forward to the next book.
