And as the new head of my family, it was my business to make the Barlowe mafia one of the strongest on the east coast.
The first step? Arranging a truce with one of our enemies.
I hadn’t expected Ace to agree without a little convincing, but he came ready with a counter offer of his Marry a high ranking member of his family to solidify our new arrangement or no deal.
Agreeing came with ease, until he introduced me to my future wife, Analia Callahan.
Nothing could have prepared me for her.
Analia Callahan
The day my father took his last breath, I assumed his position in the family.
He’d prepared me for the challenges that came with keeping track of the family’s money, and I took it seriously.
Just as I was settling into my newfound role,
the head of the Callahan mafia, my cousin Ace, called upon me for something else Marry one of his enemies to help strengthen our ties.
Because I’d do anything for my family, agreeing came with ease, until he introduced me to my future husband, Wyatt Barlowe.
Nothing could have prepared me for him.
It is important to note that Wyatt Barlowe was introduced in Sinful Enforcer—book six in the Mafia Misfits series. His story—while a standalone—plays a part in the continuation of that series.
One thing Asia is gonna do is write a Mafia story. This was a gentle and unique approach. I can see how this may be "boring" for some people, but I appreciated the more relaxed aspect of a mafia marital arrangement. We don't always need to read about hostile unions. Wyatt, now the leader of his family, decides to ally with another family through marriage to increase his empire. Despite the challenges that come with being deaf in the crime world, Anaila's father prepared her for this life. I appreciate how she saw that this alliance would strengthen and benefit both organizations. Wyatt and Anaila's love felt more natural in its pace. They were quite purposeful about their marriage. Wyatt made her feel protected, recognized and understood. As we join them in this newly created union, we uncover skeletons and snakes on both sides.
I was patiently waiting for this one, and Wyatt was well worth it! Wyatt was now the head of the Barlowe family, after his father stepped down leaving it in shambles. Needing something to strengthen his family, he decides to form an alliance with another family to do just that. However, he did not expect Ace Callahan to offer up marriage as the only solution for the agreement. With family always coming first, Wyatt quickly agrees and awaits the meeting of his future bride.
Analia took her father's position in the Callahan family after he was killed, as he had trained her to do. She also knew it was family over everything, so when her cousin Ace told her of the arrangement of marriage to solidify a union with an enemy, she knew what she had to do.
What neither Wyatt nor Analia realized was that they would forge an immediate connection that would tie them closer than the "contract" of marriage that they agreed to. They bond over having one parent that they loved so much and lost, versus the living parent that has made life hard for them due to unforeseen reasons. The uncanny similarity of Analia and Wyatt's mother, and both knowing the challenges and risks of growing up in the mafia world.
Analia immediately felt safe, understood, seen, and heard when she was with Wyatt, and it scared her, but excited her at the same time. Wyatt felt at peace when he was with Analia and knew that she would be more than just a truce made between families. She was someone he could love. It was the trust, support, partnership, and eventually love between Wyatt and Analia that stole the show. They were intentional about making their marriage more than just an agreement, while they still strangers.
When all the ish started to go down with the dirty cops, it was a race to find out who was behind it all and put an end to it. Lawd.... who knew that these parents could be so damn hateful and exhibit all this malicious behavior toward their children. 🤬 This union between Wyatt and Analia opened up Pandora's box, with secrets, lies, and skeletons flying outta there!! 🤯
I enjoyed the cameos from Gaia, Rocco, and Luca as all these family's merge together to get that money. 😂 I am really enjoying this series and looking forward to what is next.
I'm a fan of the Mafia Misfits series. I've found it to be quite enjoyable. However, this book was a snooze fest for me personally. I found it as a whole to be just meh. I thought the story started off interesting but it quickly started getting boring. On one hand, a lot was going on. On the other hand, nothing was happening. I thought it dragged a lot. Everything seemed to be moving slowly. The murder mystery subplot was kind of interesting in the beginning but like everything else in the book, it too got boring.
I did like Analia and Wyatt as a couple but I thought the writing of their relationship was a bit disjointed. One minute they're embracing their feelings for each other. The other minute, they don't know if they can trust one another and keeping secrets from each other. There was also a lot of grammatical errors in this book. I struggled to finish this story because the interest I had for it in the beginning waned and eventually I started going through the motions just to finish. In my opinion, this latest installment in the series wasn't the best. It's now my second least favorite book after Sinful Obsession.
I don't know if the stress of Amazon constantly messing up her releases when it comes to this series, her delaying the previous release of the book because of Amazon's fuck ups and her taking a year long break from this series to write other books played a part but the story didn't deliver for me. All in all, I'm still a Mafia Misfits fan and I will continue reading the series but this book could've been better and damn well could've been more interesting.
"When I put this ring on your finger, I chose you over everyone."
Finally!! Another Mafia series from Ms Asia Monique. A literal Christmas gift to us all.
Wyatt and Analia marry to align their Mafia families and this begins one of the sweetest arranged marriage stories ever. Wyatt and Analia are both dealing with separate but connected toxic ass parents. Wyatt is cementing his place as the leader of his crime family while Analia is navigating learning about her deceased father's secrets/past.
Oh and we get to reconnect with some characters from the Mafia Misfit series. Shout out to my personal favs; Rocco and Gia.
This was a softer novel in comparison to the other Mafia Misfits but it was sooo good. Like some of it was slightly predictable but the love and romance aspect between Wyatt and Analia was more than enough. No shade to the other Mafia book writers but sometimes they be tryna jump into sex and love a lil too quickly so we never really get the warm and fuzzy, we never get the chance to feel the romance or love. We see passion, we see immediate trust and that shit is a scam forreal cus ain’t no way ya daddy sold you to the highest bidder and in 3 pages you in love. Like outside of sexual chemistry we the reader need to see more compatibility and friendships too. Like I get it’s fiction but when people are involved we the reader still need to feel those developments and situations bloom.Wyatt & Analia were perfectly matched and their love felt evenly paced. The cop drama was a nice touch and it felt good to see justice prevail lol at least in the sense of cops getting what they deserved for being just as crooked. I think she could’ve done more to make the big secret a little better and slightly less predictable but she did spin me on my head with the random brother. Asia Monique doesn’t disappoint and even when some hood/Murder/Criminal stuff is going down she still gonna have you twirling you hair and kicking your feet like a school girl with a crush.
This book gave the descriptions I always wanted about what’s it’s like for my deaf kids. As a hearing mom of toddlers I have always been curious and sometimes envious of their gift of silence. Being able to understand what my son experiences when he connects his cochlear was beautiful and emotional for myself and my family. The use of total communication —our choice in our household and the way she made sure we as readers understood when sign language was used on its on and when it was used alongside voice…empowering. This book confirmed to me that my kids can truly be a powerhouse in this world. It also made me envious of how so many were willing to adapt for the sake of Analia’s gift. The love story…seamless and beautiful. I hope to read more of works like this.
“Silence had always been my refuge, a constant companion in my life. But for the first time, I wanted to share it with someone—with him.”
What I Loved: •Previous character cameos & updates •Touch her and💀 •Deaf representation and use of ASL - Asia.👏🏾 •When he signed to her. Wyatt Barlowe, the man you are...yes😍 •Yall know I love a badass FMC who will also take down🥷🏾 •Analia and Iron Man. Girl! Everyone should hate to see them coming •Their nicknames 🥹♥️
I love when mafia stories include female characters that are just as bad ass as the males. This book had a mix of arranged marriage, family drama and some suspense.
I enjoyed the journey of Wyatt and Analia, the way they just meshed together easily and found a way to learned each other was cute
i don’t know how asia monique does it, but she has found the perfect balance between the grittiness of the mafia and the pure heartedness of romance. it feels inadequate to say that this was “soft”, but the way both characters loved and showed up for each other in ways no one else had or could, simply because they were so intrinsically made for the other was so comforting. there’s something about this books that few, if any, other mafia romances are able to capture. and the fact that the fmcs are always so independently sure of themselves and strong, and badass, and empowering, even after they fall in love, or more so because of it? unmatched.
This was more like 2.5 stars for me it was boring. The characters were boring but a little likable. I don’t get why the author made the MFC deaf, she barely signed. That was what made her unique but most of the time she just had regular convo and was able to hear as good as anyone that is not deaf. It was a pointless feature of the character if it wasn’t gone be used often. The story was okay but it was like a drag but interesting enough to at least get to the solution if that makes sense. I skipped a lot and mostly all of the ending because I was just ready to get it done. Don’t know if there is to be a part 2 but i probably won’t read it anyway. I did like how the characters didn’t hold information back from one another for halfway the whole book. They were very open with each other and it made for good communication. Other than that it wasn’t an exciting read, at least not to me, but it was ok.
Overall I thought that this was a nice continuation of the series, but some parts dragged and had you wondering where this story was going. Who needs enemies when you have a family like these two and people willing to sabotage their own - just shameful.
Only a few authors can get up early in the morning to finish a book that I started, and Ms. Monique is one of them. lol Even with the year break and Amazon messing her up releases in the process, (in my opinion is BS STOP PLAYING WITH MY GIRL!!) This book was truly worth the wait! I personally enjoyed Wyatt and Analia's story. I loved how Analia was deaf, yet she didn't let that hinder her from getting shit done. Can't lie, both of her parents were messed up, with her mom basically being a passed around back in the day from what we gathered. lol Along with her father not being the prefect man Analia thought he was, I know it was hard but I'm happy she got her ending with finding out the truth along with finding another family member in the process. With Wyatt, he knew the type of man his father was, but he didn't let that affect him as a man. He truly loved his mother down though, and I thought it was cute that his mom was also deaf. Him and Manny were more as brothers than cousins and I felt sorry for Manny when he found out the truth about his dad. (I hope we get a mini story about him and Allyson) Together Wyatt and Analia had a lot to learn about each other, yet they were meant to be. Now that he's working with the O'Sullivan's I know we'll see them in upcoming books. I enjoyed seeing my baby Rocco and Gaia and even a slight camo of Luca as well. The reason I gave it a four is because to me I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Other than a great book as always and I can't for the next book!

I have been waiting for this author to release her next mafia romance for a while now and this book did not disappoint. I loved everything about this book and this couple.
Wyatt and Analia were a perfect match and I loved the way they were able to communicate with each other. I loved that Wyatt wanted to protect her at all costs and that he was willing to communicate with her in sign language. Most of all I loved that they didn’t push each other to talk and allowed each other the space to come to the other when they were ready. They built a genuine connection that paved the way for unconditional love, loyalty and respect. They stood beside each other during their battles and offered support to the other, whether it be physical or emotional or both. Wyatt may have started things off trying to gain an alliance with the Callahan family and further strengthen his families ties in the mafia world, but he ended up walking away with the love of his life and a partner who understood every part of his world and vise versa.
This was an enjoyable read that I would highly recommend along with the rest of the mafia romance stories by this author. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author and who will be next the couple with the mafia romance.
🥷 Black Mafia 💍 Arranged Marriage 🤟 ASL/Deaf representation 💔 Fueding families
"Our Marriage was arranged, but what came after had everything to do with fate" - Analia Callahan
Wyatt was so worth the wait. One thing I love about Asia Monique's Mafia series, is that she is going to give us a great balance of romance and killing. Wyatt Barlowe and Analia Callahan were an arranged marriage, put together so that Wyatt could get in an alliance with Ace Callahan. I loved reading this two fall in love. They both felt safe with each other and had each other from the beginning. Wyatt did not play about his wife and Analia was a strong FMC that could handle her own!!! You could feel their chemistry, desire, and passion for each other. I couldn't help but smile reading their scenes 🤩
The buildup and plot was everything, I didn't know who they could trust, but when it was all unveiled... some parents just ain't ish!!! Asia did a great job of wrapping it up and answering any questions. This was my first read where the MC was deaf, and Asia did it so well. The ASL representation was everything.
Loved the cameos from the other Mafia misfit. I hope we see more of "Papa and Firefly" in the next books. I also hope we get a story on Ace and Rayen 👀.
So glad to be back in the world of Mafia Misfits and their Districts.
Wyatt: The Barlowe Mafia was an enjoyable read with some truly memorable moments. I especially appreciated the introduction of another family within a unique setting and the inclusion of a character representing the ASL community. The strong bond between Analisa and Wyatt, as well as their extended family of crews, was a standout element. However, I would have liked more elaboration in certain parts of the plot to enhance the overall depth of the story.
Sidenote: Nicknames are my favorite, so I highly recommend getting to know Thor & Ironman as well as Papa & Firefly.

I just loved Wyatt and Analia so much! Their chemistry and interaction exploded off the page for me. Wyatt has recently taken over as head of his crime family and is looking to end old squabbles and expand his territory. His rival suggests marriage into the family to seal the alliance. Wyatt agrees without thinking about who will be his wife. Analia says yes to the family and doesn’t have high hopes for this arranged marriage. All those thoughts got out the window when they meet. Wyatt soon sets out to actually win his new wife’s affection. While they try to navigate in two crime families the secrets they reveal blows both families up and no one is safe. I was so sad when there wasn’t another book to read.
I’m obsessed with any Asia Monique book! This was my first mafia book by her and I loved it.
It had the right amount of mafia, romance, and drama. It had several different plots going on that fed off of each other. Sometimes in books, several different plots can get annoying but the plots in this book didn’t seem like too much and closure was given to all.
The romance between Wyatt & Analia was soo cute. I loved how they protected and took care of one another. They knew what each other needed without saying it because they both understood the life. How they fell in love with each other over time was just adorable.
I loved Nali’s character. She was such a bad ass FMC. I would love to see this as a movie or something!!
I ate this one up! I'm a fan of Asia Monique's now, and I'm definitely reading more of her books. I loved the two main characters, Wyatt Barlowe and Analia Callahan. Wyatt was everything, and I loved that this book features a disability representative with Analia being deaf. I enjoyed the mystery aspect and the connection between the two. I had no idea this was an extension from another series, so I do want to go back and read that series. It didn't ruin anything for those previous books by reading this one first. The spicy scenes were good, but I needed just a little bit more, but that could just be my preference.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this mafia misfits series and haven’t found any other mafia series to rival it. I never thought anyone could live up to Enzo and his love for Lucia in book 1 BUT Wyatt has come along now and is a good contender to knock Enzo from his poll position.
Certainly as I kick off 2025, Wyatt is looking like a strong contender for this year's book BAE of the year award. The way he cared for and eventually loved and protected Nalia was heart warming and Nalia reciprocated beautifully. This book was not that spicy 🌶️ but it certainly had a level of sensuality that was good enough.
This is an okay Mafia/crime family story but a much better Black romance tale. Thats why I’m rating it 3.5⭐️.
It’s an arranged marriage trope without a lot of the push and pull that normally accompanies this type of trope. They just agree to fall. It’s okay but a little boring.
The story is about two Black crime families in the DC area foraging an alliance through an arranged marriage. Wyatt is the head of the Barlowe family and he agrees to marry Analisa a member of the Callahan family.
There’s family drama, a few situations that affect both families, a twist and a murder solved. But all of it boils down to a okay read.
I really enjoyed Analia & Wyatt’s story. Despite it being an arranged marriage, the pacing & progression of their relationship felt natural and authentic. You saw them go from being curious about each other to liking one another to truly developing a deeper level of love. Even though there were times they struggled internally with whether or not to trust the other, because they came from feuding families, they each made intentional choices to choose their partner over everything and it was great to see. The dysfunctional family dynamics and mafia shenanigans also made for engaging plot lines as well.
I enjoyed the representation this author presents of the hearing impaired community. Wyatt is everythinggggg, and I liked that he remains steadfast in his marriage to Analia. Analia is such a strong FMC. She is a boss and does not play about her money.
Most of all, I loved that the author doesn’t allow Analia’s lack of hearing abilities to define her or overshadow who she is as a person. Being deaf is a factor that shapes who she is, but it is not all that she is.
Asia Monique has done it AGAIN!!! This book was really good. The overall plot of the story flowed well. It had all the good elements of a marriage of convenience Maria romance. I also loved how there was nooo third act breakup or a threat of one at all. These two communicated so well which I appreciated. I also loved seeing my favs Rocco & Gaia. As well as, the potential sneak peeks of possible couples/stories to come.
I’m already in love with this series and this latest edition. An arranged marriage gone great with two hearts open to the possibilities of love and are rewarded because of it . This being a Mafia Misfits read of course brings with it intrigue, action and side characters you’d love to get to know better. I fell completely in love with Firefly and her Papa and you will too. Enjoy!
