Smith sure hammers the psychological in a psychological thriller! 😍
Oh was it a pleasure to be back with Olivia after the fantastic ending of The Forgotten Bride. Smith has an indisputably perspicacious charm to his writing and always composes a solid read, and it was no different here!
What I loved most about this book was how unexpected the plot was. Could I have ever predicted where the final chapters would climax… NO! …and this made it all that more exciting.
With twists aplenty, multiple POVs, cliffhanging chapters and incrementing tension, I loved this book. My eyes were stuck to the pages from the onset as I rapidly turned them to unveil what Smith had in store.
I loved Olivia’s character and delving into her psyche with Benjamin - I thought this was cleverly incorporated. I also really enjoyed viewing things from Aurora’s perspective at times too. This was a book about a family being threatened apart and the lengths you’ll go to protect those you love. Smith thrusts you into the action and really places you at the heart of the chaos.
I wondered how this book would top the first, and although I preferred its predecessor, this one also doesn’t let you down and makes an amazing read. This sequel was impressively delivered and I love how Smith demonstrates his strengthening writing with each book he releases.
A huge thank you to @philipsmithfiction for this ARC of The Bride’s Revenge which publishes on the 30th January. I cannot wait to read his next work. We need more from Olivia though!!!!! 😍
This is the sequel to The Forgotten Bride, so you know what that means right… you have two fantastic books to get reading! 🙌
The follow-on from The Forgotten Bride is that there's always a worry that book 2 won't be as good. I can assure you that this isn't the case here.
A continuation of Olivia's story from escaping the bunker where she was held captive for 10 years. The only difference is that this time, you get mainly Olivia's and her daughter Aurora's point of view. It worked perfectly well with the story, and I loved getting to know Aurora's character more. The plot has such a great pace to it with its short chapters it's so easy to forget that you're reading and be totally lost in the story. It's addictive reading, and because of this, I found it hard to put it down. I read it in such a short space of time, and now I'm left needing to know what happens next!
There are so many twists and turns that I didn't know what to think. My mind kept going off in all these different directions, trying to work out what's going on. It kept me guessing, right up to the end. At one point, I shouted out to myself, 'I knew it'. Full of those 'what the hell' and 'Oh my god' moments.
What I will say is this is one hell of an anxiety inducing edge of your seat, rollercoaster ride of a story.
I would definitely suggest reading The Forgotten Bride first because it's just as awesome a read, and you will get the full back story of Olivia.
Thank you, Phillip Anthony Smith, for my advanced copy of this book. My opinions are my own
It was lovely to catch up with Olivia, Nathaniel and Aurora again. After following Olivia’s story in The Forgotten Bride, when she was kidnapped and held in a bunker for 10years. She was finally reunited with her family.
The Brides Revenge follows the happy couple as they prepare to get married (second time lucky). As wedding day nerves approach, can the day go ahead without a hitch?
Surely history cannot repeat itself ?
Surely there cannot be more dark family secrets ?
Will they get their Happy Ever After or is revenge really best served cold?
Well, wow!! So many twists. The prologue had me wondering if there was another twisted family member lurking in the background. Events unfold, fights happen, tense, gripping moments daring to rip the family apart.
I loved every aspect of this story and at first I thought I was reading The Forgotten Bride again until BAM!! Right in the midst is a dirty dog with a very big, dark secret who threatens to kill Olivia, and brings all her memories to the surface again, doubting everyone and everything but she’s somewhat bolder and stronger this time.
Does she get her revenge ?
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. I read this in one sitting after receiving an early ARC from the author
‘The Bride's Revenge’ by Philip Anthony Smith is the second instalment in a gripping series that elevates the psychological thriller genre to new heights.
In this electrifying sequel, we continue Olivia’s chilling story after she had escaped from her terrifying captivity. But she now finds herself in a dark twisted game that she thought was over. As she navigates a deadly web of betrayal and manipulation while trying to protect her family, she wonders who can she trust?
I was thrust into a whirlwind of suspense and intrigue, where every page turn unraveled yet another unexpected twist! With its relentless pace, the story unfolds rapidly, with each chapter brimming with tension. The psychological elements of the story drew me deeper.
Prepare to be enthralled, as Smith takes you on a journey that is as thrilling as it is thought-provoking—one that you will not soon forget.
This is my favourite book of Philip Anthony Smith so far and I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next. Thank you Phil for allowing me to be part of your ARC team.
This is the second book in the series with The Forgotten Bride being the first book. What a great follow up. I have to say though, I did prefer this book to the first one.
The storyline was deep and had several layers to it. The story concentrates on PTSD and the extreme symptoms that come along with the illness, which I’m sure you’d have if you’d been held captive for ten years. The torture that Olivia went through mentally, is very harrowing.
At times I felt myself getting a bit annoyed with the characters. I remembered them all very well from the first book but I often found myself questioning some of their actions and thinking - really, would you actually do that after the hell you’ve been through. Though on a whole they were well written.
I felt a bit unsure on the ending as I thought a couple of the people didn’t get what they truly deserved and got away maybe scott free. On the other hand it was nice to see Olivia’s story all wrapped up and see that she was truly away from her sordid past and happy once again.
I have been reading Philip’s work right from his first book and find his work to be very talented and I still believe this, he is a fab skilful writer. Thankyou to Philip for sending me this ARC to read and review.
‘ He took everything from her. It’s time she repayed the favour.. ‘
WOW!
Firstly I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to read The Brides Revenge as an ARC.
I absolutely adored The Forgotten Bride and Phil has knocked it out of the park again with this ELECTRIC SEQUEL!
An absolute page turner yet again! Phil seriously captivates readers keeping them guessing throughout! The incredible twists and turns you just do NOT see coming! The way he was able to weave the story from book one and book two together was genius ..
I cannot recommend these books enough - absolutely phenomenal 🔪
Oh wow, wow, wow!! I loved the first book so wasn’t sure what to expect from this one but it blew me away! I did not expect the twists and ending to this one. I absolutely love Olivia, Nath & aurora’s characters their so likeable. I loved how it’s was mainly 2 people’s POV throughout the story! These are quite long-ish chapters which I’m not a fan of usually but I was so invested in this book I did fly through them!
Christ almighty, I genuinely had heart palpitations by the end of this book! 😅
I was kindly sent an ARC copy of the sequel to 'The Forgotten Bride' by Philip Anthony Smith
I'm always a bit iffy about sequels! And I absolutely bloody loved The Forgotten Bride! So I was kind of praying the sequel 'The Bride's Revenge' would be just as good... and it blew my flipping socks off!
I think I genuinely went cross-eyed towards the last few chapters, trying to read that fast 🤓 once again I thought I had the main culprit pinned down, and once again I didn't 🤣 I'd be a shit detective that's for sure!
If you haven't already picked up 📖 'The Forgotten Bride', I strongly suggest you do, and then get 'The Bride's Revenge' Which is due for release on 30th January 2025 🥳

The Bride’s Revenge ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ by Philip Anthony Smith Release Date: January 30, 2025
A gripping, psychological rollercoaster, a sequel that raises the stakes and plunges readers into a chilling maze of obsession, betrayal, and vengeance. Olivia’s journey—from celebrated author to a woman fighting to escape her past—captures the fragility of redemption in hauntingly vivid detail.
Smith’s writing shines with taut pacing and razor-sharp prose, immersing readers in Olivia’s fractured world where nothing—and no one—can be trusted. The intricate plot keeps you guessing as shocking twists unravel the deeper layers of Olivia’s trauma and the sinister forces at play. The villain, coldly brilliant and relentless, serves as a formidable antagonist, making every confrontation pulse with tension.
While the story brims with suspense and psychological depth, the sheer intensity of Olivia’s struggles can feel unrelenting at times, leaving little room to breathe. However, this relentless momentum mirrors her desperate fight for survival, keeping me turning pages late into the night.
The Bride’s Revenge is not just a thriller—it’s a dark, thought-provoking exploration of how far one woman will go to reclaim her life. If you enjoy complex characters, unpredictable twists, and morally ambiguous themes, this book will leave you breathless and questioning who the true hunter—or prey—really is. I highly recommend this book. It’s the perfect sequel to The Forgotten Bride!!
I thought the book was even better than the first! Completely kept me in suspense until the very end! The description of the characters was awesome! I sure hope there is a next book after this one! Can’t wait!
What an amazing sequel to The Forgotten Bride! Just like the first book, I was hooked entirely from the beginning and could not put it down. This time we follow Olivia who now tries to live her ‘normal’ life after being held captive in a bunker for a decade however, unsettling events happen again and she’s definitely not afraid to face them. I don’t want to say too much about the plot incase I spoil it 😅
The illustration at the start of every chapter is literally my favourite thing to admire. It’s like giving you hints of the chapter which is really cool.
I also really enjoyed reading both Olivia and Aurora’s POV as for some of Alex’s POV as well because we get an understanding of some of the back story as to why Olivia was captured in the first place. And on top of all that, there is just this massive drama and secrets that unfolds and I LOVE IT! 😍
I thought I had guessed some of the things right but it catches you out with a plot twist and another and another which for sure baffles my mind 🤯 It has surely kept me on my toes! Throughout the story, I mainly had my fingers and toes curled as it was so intense!
Overall, highly recommend this book for a thrilling ride and with Smith’s writing style, he never fails to make us gasp!
Thank you Philip for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
Philip is back with another cracker of a story in this gripping sequel to The Forgotten Bride!
I was a little worried at first that I would have forgotten (no pun intended 😂) what happened in the first book, with it being released a couple of months ago. However, there were plenty of references to the characters and storyline from book 1, so I soon got into the story again. In The Bride’s Revenge, there is a dual-POV switching between Olivia and her daughter Aurora who is now more grown-up. I loved this writing style, it was easy to follow and kept me hooked!
As always with Philip’s books, the writing was fantastic! There’s just something about his writing that draws you in to the world he has created. The characters are so emotive and feel so real, taking you on a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the book. 🥺😳🤯
One thing I particularly enjoyed in this one were the courtroom scenes, which made for compulsive reading!
And that explosive ending! There were some jaw-dropping twists, and it literally felt like I was watching a film/tv show! It was so good 😍 I didn’t predict them either!
There was a great epilogue too! It left me grasping for more from the story, and it definitely feels open for a third book which I would love to see! Philip’s already announced a novella which he is currently in the process of writing. I can’t wait to read it! 😁
Every time he releases a book, afterwards I’m like yep that’s my new favourite, but he’s done it again! They honestly just get better and better! Everyone please go and show him some support, you can even download his debut book Run For Your Life for free- Just visit the link in his bio! my opinion he’s a fantastic writer who doesn’t get enough recognition.
Overall this was a PHENOMENAL sequel that will most definitely be in my top books of this year! A huge thank you again to Phil for having me on his ARC team and for the ARC copy of this book. I truly appreciate it! ❤️
WARNING: This book is a sequel. While I never post spoilers, some aspects of the plot description may unintentionally allude to what happened in book one, The Forgotten Bride.
Olivia, now a successful survival memoirist since her escape, is finally having the wedding that was stolen from her over a decade ago. However, she has to confront her trauma in order for justice to finally be served, but someone is mocking her by manipulating the events of her captivity and causing the public to question the truth. As the past and present intertwine, Olivia must fight to survive and protect her loved ones as well as herself and her integrity.
This is how you do a sequel!! It is rare when a sequel matches the energy of the first one, but I felt like this one exceeds! And there absolutely has to be a third book..... Right??? RIGHT?!?! Because I neeeeed more answers. Olivia felt much smarter in this one, and I didn't find myself wanting to reach into the book to strangle her. This book also offered new and interesting characters that added depth and layers to the plot and list of suspects. While one aspect of the major twist was identifiable early on for me, all the other parts completely took me by surprise as my head was spinning in circles by the time I reached the epilogue. This was so good y'all!
Another 5⭐️ psychological thriller book from Philip! I am not sure if he is capable of writing anything under 5 stars to be honest!
'The Bride's Revenge' is the sequel to 'The Forgotten Bride' and takes place right after the 1st book. We are following Olivia's life after her 10 year kidnapping ordeal along side her husband Nathaniel, and daughter Aurora. We follow their lives a few months after Olivia escapes. She writes a book about her ordeal and not long after it is published things start to go very wrong for the whole family, and we are taken on a journey of betrayal, lies, deceit and revenge.
'Like a thorn in my side, Alex had burrowed himself deep into my life and refused to let go, his barbed stems wrapping around everything I held dear, constantly tightening and squeezing the life out of it.' - Olivia
We are told the story through past and present timelines and through Olivia, Aurora and Alex's POV and I feel this perfectly builds the suspense that is throughout the whole book. You are constantly left with questions! Him? No, not her? Ooohhh HIM.. This kept me hooked from the get go and I just couldn't guess the ending. The twists and turns happened pretty much in every chapter but it wasn't to much, it was just right and this along with the pacing of the book make it 5⭐️ for me.
Now. THE EPILOGUE, book 3? The Bride's Escape?
Anyways to wrap up, absolute 10/10 book from me and I absolutely loved it! Look forward to seeing what else Philip writes ⭐️
This story follows on from The Forgotten Bride and I am so happy to be back with these characters, I need closure.
Olivia wants to forget all about what happened to her and her loved ones and rebuild her life with Nath and Aurora. But when you’ve been through something so traumatic you find that you’re fearful of everything even the thought of finally being happy. Slowly her world begins to unravel and she has no choice but to return to America to face Alex, the man who held her captive for 10yrs. Olivia is convinced Alex is still pulling the strings and is paramount in her life continuing to crumble but can he really have that much reach from a prison cell?
Told from Olivia, her daughter Aurora and Alex’s point of view we are given a unique perspective of what life is like for Olivia and how all of this has and continues to have an effect on Aurora. Meanwhile getting some background from Alex, although can we really rely on his perspective?
This book is a fantastic follow up and definitely answers any remaining questions I had from the first book. As is the norm for this author the twists kept on twisting. I was on the edge of my seat and internally screaming at some of Aurora and Olivia’s decisions but that just shows how great the writing is.
Thank you so much to the author, Philip, for sending me an ARC copy to read and review. I already cannot wait to see what book you come up with next.
“Everyone, including my family, thought that the nightmare was over. Not me. I was still waiting to wake up.”
The Bride’s Revenge follows Olivia who, after surviving a ten year kidnapping ordeal, uses her newfound freedom to write a memoir detailing her horrific past. But freedom and fame come with a price and Olivia soon finds herself at the wrong end of a twisted mind, and has to navigate a new sick game to protect everything she loves. Can the bride finally get her revenge?
The Bride’s Revenge is a sequel to The Forgotten Bride and is told from Olivia and Aurora’s perspective from the present tense with a gripping prologue teasing a week into the future, and a few flashback chapters from Alex’s perspective to add more fuel to the already white-hot narrative. I loved that it didn’t repeat a lot of its predecessor but has subtle hints and parallels to the first book, and it made for an electrifying sequel.
The Bride’s Revenge is a masterful exploration of betrayal, revenge and manipulation, layered with twists and turns that left me bewildered and breathless. The twists in this book were so devastating, that they redefined everything that came before them - and that is literary genius in its truest form. I devoured this book overnight and it has set a very high 5 star standard going into 2025.
I just want to say again a massive thank you to Philip Anthony Smith for sending me this advanced copy. The Bride’s Revenge is out Jan 30th!👰🏻♀️🔪🖤
He's only gone and knocked it out of the park again! Another gripping, twisty and maybe slightly frustrating read which has got me out of my reading slump! I love how fast paced this was and how the end of each chapter left you desperate to just keep on reading. The twists, well wtf is the best way to describe just how good they were! This was the perfect addition to the forgotten bride. The main character Olivia did annoy me a bit more in this one but that could be a me problem but I did absolutely love this book and I devoured it!
Oooof! Philip has delivered an absolute smack in the face (in a good way!) with this one!!
The story pulls you right in and I think I felt every possible emotion reading this book! Happiness, Joy, Fear, Anger, Despair.
As Olivia and Nath finally get to have their wedding day, what should be the happiest day of their lives once again turns sour.
Who is sending mystery packages and why? Just how far is Alex's reach from prison? Is there something they are missing?
As Olivia's fresh start begins to unravel we find ourselves on a rollercoaster journey.
The story is told from both her and Aurora's points of view and both of them find themselves on journeys of fear and betrayal adding huge amounts of 'edge of your seat' vibes to the story.
My mind was blown by the twists that kept on coming!!
In a nutshell, this is an epic story that doesn't disappoint but it certainly has shock value several times over! I loved it ❤️
🌟You MUST read The Forgotten Bride first or you'll be endlessly confused as to who is who and what and why etc🌟
What an honour to read ‘The Bride’s Revenge’ as an ARC!
Sequel to ‘The Forgotten Bride’, ‘The Bride’s Revenge’ sees readers plunged back into another mind blowing psychological thriller, following Olivia, her husband and their daughter.
Olivia thought her nightmare was over; but is it really just beginning? Can she trust those closest to her, or do lies and deception lie in wait?
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, it was phenomenal. The way this and the first books plots were weaved was expertly done, and the twists had my eyes bugging out of my head and my jaw dropping!
The way the story unravels and unfolds is utterly enthralling; Philip Anthony Smith captivates the reader with conniving characters, killer twists and gut punching grit. You are definitely not left disappointed when it reaches its conclusion.
I was kindly sent a copy to review, however this is all my honest opinions.
I'll start off by saying I actually preferred this one to the first one.
This had me on the edge of my seat and gripped. I had a few wtf moments... There are so many twists and turns that my mind was going crazy thinking where is this going. Secrets, lies, shocks.
I did like that you learn more about 'Aurora' in this one.
Philip is a very talented writer, and I enjoyed his writing style. I like the different POV within the story.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Publication Date 30th January 2025 As always many thanks to Philip for early access to his new book This Is a compulsive read from the first page, everything is cleverly revealed allowing the reader to understand Olivia’s mindset and her strength and determination shine throughout. We learn more about Aurora this time and it’s definitely like mother like daughter. Sprinkled with secrets and shocks after shocks that were impossible to guess totally genius. For me this was even better than the first book(and I never thought I’d be saying that) Both books would make a great film or tv series. I can’t wait to read what Philip writes next personally I want more from Olivia and co. If you love an expertly written psychopath story grab yourself a copy as soon as you can. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. PS Philip I hope your fingernails have survived 😁
I've really enjoyed reading Philip's books, a new to me author and one I will look out for in the future!
I really liked the storyline, the suspense and the characters. Full of twists and turns and I was hooked. Characters I wasn't sure of like Mel, something was off to me but wasn't sure what but could tell something wasn't right. I really liked the way it follows on straight from book one with not too much overlap so definitely read in order for this to make sense as it wouldn't work as a standalone as too much has happened previously.
What seems on the surface a kidnapping is so much more, a whole can of worms is opened up and Olivia stumbled on more than she bargained for!
Another book with time jumping back and forth gives a real sense of things from different pov's, loved it! That ending, chef's kiss!
Olivia is finally moving forward with her family after enduring a decade in captivity. It should be smooth sailing from here, right? WRONG. What unfolds is a journey of healing, betrayal, and even more secrets are revealed that shake Olivia and her family to their core.
The layers of lies and interwoven connections were expertly revealed, keeping me hooked from start to finish. I audibly gasped more times than I can count during the last 20% of the book, which is packed with twists and unrelenting tension.
This story is a rollercoaster that doesn’t shy away from dealing with trauma while delivering heart-pounding suspense. If you loved The Forgotten Bride, this sequel is an absolute must read.
This sequel to The Forgotten Bride is fantastic!!! I love following the story of Olivia, Nathan and Aurora. This kept me on pins and needles, dying to know what would happen next! What a surprising twist! Lots of action and suspense, the authors writing is incredible. I immediately went online to order another of this author’s books. I’m wondering if this may turn into a trilogy?
I have been impatiently waiting for this book and I was certainly not disappointed.
There is always a little apprehension going into a second book of any series - especially as I loved the first book - and I enjoyed this one just as much.
It’s such a great read that hooks you from the get go and I just thrive off the DRAMA of it all and can’t get enough. I had this on Apple Books on my phone this time, and found myself opening it at any opportunity because I just kept needing to read a page more.
The new addition of a dual POV worked so so well for this book, I really liked reading it from both Olivia and Aurora’s POV, especially with the edition of a new character.
It’s much much bigger and darker than you would ever think, adding a different level of “HOLY S***” to the story. I didn’t see any of it coming, despite being suspicious of pretty much everyone - even Olivia at one point!
I personally think it’s expertly plotted and multilayered, it’s clever, shocking, full of suspense and twists and so satisfyingly woven together.
I was lucky enough, AGAIN, to be sent this by the author to read ahead of its release on the 30th January - so that gives you plenty of time to read the first and then IMMEDIATELY read this one after!
I was kindly gifted this book in return for an honest review, I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to review this amazing book!
What an amazing sequel to ‘The Forgotten Bride’, I couldn’t put it down. This book follows Olivia who is now trying to live a ‘normal’ life after her horrendous ordeal of being held captive for a decade however living the normal life proves difficult when unsettling events begin to occur.
This book was fast paced and with all the twists I was intrigued to find out more. It was so dark and compelling! I absolutely loved the illustration at the start of every chapter, I love how it gives a hint of what’s to come.
The Forgotten Bride was my book of the month back in January and I’ve finally got around to reading its sequel.
I really do enjoy Philip’s writing style - it’s easily digestible, great dialogue and fast paced.
We’re back with Olivia and her family who is being tormented ahead of her kidnappers trial. Secrets are exposed, there are untrustworthy characters worming their way into her life and she’s in danger once again.
The finale of this one was just as tense as its predecessor. Brilliantly fast paced with sinister vibes.
I did enjoy it; just not as much as the first book which I loved.
The second book in "The Bride's" series and once again we meet Olivia on a rollercoaster of a ride. Lots of twists and turns which kept me interested throughout and an ending I certainly didn't expect. A brilliant read
WOW WOW this 2nd book was absolutely brilliant. I ❤️ it. I actually enjoyed it better than the 1st in the series so looking forward now to reading the next one ... 😀
