She spent her life helping others, but when her own life is on the line—can she find the strength to help herself?
Sara Davidson has it a career as an immunologist, helping countless strangers face life-risking illnesses; a loving, devoted husband; and fantastic, supportive children. Nobody ever had any doubts about where her life was headed, least of all Sara herself. So when the migraines began, Sara was determined not to let them stand in the way of her work. At first, they were just a nuisance. Then they became debilitating. Before she knew it, she was looking at an image of a lump in her brain, her husband Abe clutching her hand like he was trying to hold on to whatever time they still had.
Diagnosed with a brain tumor, Sara realizes she faces years of death-defying surgeries and long and painful recoveries—and that she is not ready to give up on the life she built. As the surgeries on her brain take their toll, Sara struggles for every shred of independence, trying to save whatever she can of the things she her work, her family, and her relationship with Abe, who is trying his best to support a wife he is slowly losing while he can’t do anything about it.
As her condition keeps deteriorating, and she is left with no other option, Sara must make a difficult will she let her disease take over, or will she save whatever life she still has—even if it means she must give up on the brilliant doctor she once was?
Based on an incredible true story, All the Words We Cannot Say is a powerfully moving novel about love, courage, and finding the small wonders of everyday life that are worth more than words can say.
The summary on Goodreads describes what this book is about. For non-Jews, this book helps the reader understand many things about the Jewish "culture". The author is very devout and the reader gets a glimpse into how she and her family navigated the numerous extremely difficult decisions they were confronted with (mostly health decisions but not all). The reader can't help but be convicted regarding their own spirituality. An important book - I'm glad I read it.
Loved this book and it's testament to faith. Tamar is an amazing, strong and courageous woman with a beautiful testimony. I highly recommend this book!
I was captivated by this book and finished it in 2 days. Extraordinary tale written by a devout Jewish women about her multiple health and other crises, miracles she experienced, and how she coped and found strength through her faith. It gave me a better understanding of the Jewish culture and having experienced my own health miracles, I was completely absorbed by her story and the depth of her faith. This book really resonated with me and gave me much to think about. I highly recommend it, especially for anyone who is experiencing a major crisis in their life. I discovered she has written a follow up book about using trauma in our lives for personal growth and have already started reading it.
I’m not sad I read it, she’s very inspiring with her faith, her perseverance in terrible odds. It was difficult to follow a timeline for how long between situations, maybe not important to her story.
