If you’ve read Books 1 & 2 in the Newland Trilogy, you’ll want to fill in all your unanswered questions by reading the final book, Redemption Ground. Before reading the book, I wondered how E M Carter would resolve the overwhelming injustice of the Newland world, bringing justice both to those wronged and to the perpetrators. And in a story that is laced with tension from the first chapter and continues in nail-biting suspense right up until the final section, the conflict does eventually build to a large-scale showdown.
But individual narratives and characters are not forgotten in this complex drawing together of many threads. E M Carter skilfully weaves a denouement that brings together back-stories and relationships, whilst staying faithful to the dystopian world she has created, reassuring us that no one has been forgotten.
On a practical note, I would suggest reading all three books in sequence, without too long a period in-between. We are introduced to many characters throughout the series, and some are referred to in Redemption Ground who were first introduced in Book 1— Repression Ground—so it would be easy to forget their identities without doing that.
I don’t normally read dystopian fiction, but this Trilogy has grabbed me unexpectedly, drawing me into the lives of the three young protagonists. It has taken me with them on their harrowing journey to uncover lies and discover truth, causing me to cheer them on in their individual growth of character and their courageous quest for freedom.
I heartily recommend this to all dystopian lovers who enjoy the bittersweet combination of apocalyptic drama, powerful friendship and indestructible hope.

Back to Newland and our heroes—Coran, Carys, Jacob, Amy, Raza, Reia, etc. I enjoyed reading the books through their lenses. Following their perilous journey from Book 1 through Book 2 and finally to Book 3, I can say that E.M. Carter has produced a brilliant read! The themes of Love, Unity, Freedom, Courage, Justice, Equality, Family, Hope, Faith, 'Productivity', and Youth Empowerment are beautifully portrayed in the three trilogies. In the end, I sigh with relief after gripping moments of tension, horrible moments[Raza's baby], and evil are all put in place!
Christmas's bitter cold and frozen season contrasts with the air of jubilation, victory, and hope.
A brilliant and enjoyable read worth its 5 stars!
