I didn't realize how much I missed this world when I started reading this short novella. I was instantly connected with the characters from the first word onwards and they held me tight all the way through.
The family recovers from the brutal events that took place in book 3 & 4. Destiny is broken, lost, depressed, agonized by the pain of being raped and losing her baby. The only connection she truly feels is the bond she has with her brother Rowdy.
Rowdy is dealing with his own demons, trauma's and memories. He is dealing with his abuse and he struggles with the fact that he lost Wild.
And Wild? He still loves Rowdy. And he misses his best friend.
I love how being back home settles Rowdy.
Outdoors, I come alive. Pain, memories, guilt -- it all sheds from me like a second skin and I run from it all, instead soaking up everything about the stunning wilderness that brings me true joy.
How it gives him the strength to take care of his parents and siblings. Especially Dez, Destiny. They are intricately bonded.
And for a second this short story drifted in a certain direction and my heart dropped. Not because I didn't like the idea. But because it didn't feel right in my heart. Because I felt something else that has burned through me since book 3 and 4. And when that bit pops I was so relieved. I think I have never felt such relief before. Because I know in my heart what the destiny for these characters are. And I am so glad it goes into the direction I wanted it to go.
But everything changes when Destiny overhears something. And Rowdy rushes after her.
This is worse. Losing Destiny would be the end of me.
My heart, oh my heart. This story perfectly sets up the next book in this series. I think Rowdy's book will be my favorite in this entire series. I absolutely cannot wait to read his story. His journey and I absolutely cannot wait to see his heart stretched with love and belonging.
This small novella held so much emotions and so much depth. I love how it immediately pulled me in and how I couldn't stop reading.
Preparing myself for 'The Rowdy Ones' the next book in this series, I was shocked to see that I'd not read this little novella which sets us up for Rowdy and Destiny's full story.
This was kind of a quick catch up, what had happened and where they were headed, like myself if your obsessed with this series 'the wild' the author has thrust us into I'm beyond excited to jump into the next one..
Rowdy will have your heart breaking for everything he endured out in the world, putting his trust into a man who took advantage of him. Drugging and raping occurred numerous times.
And Destiny will rip that heart to shreds, you could say Rowdy has saved her twice, for her kidnapping and rape to her trying to unalive herself.
What happened to Rowdy when he left home that changed him so much? What happened to ruin his and Wild's friendship? And how did he manage me in the aftermath. This novella is a transition to Rowdy's book where we learn about his backstory.
A good novella. We definitely needed a backstory for Rowdy who was broody and mysterious after returning home. I believe some of his story was shared in another book, but I can't remember fully.
Anyways, it's a good transition. The one thing I felt was lacking was ages. How old is everyone in this? That was confusing to me.
I also felt bad for Wild. Kind of hope he will get a book at some point. Poor guy.
Overall though it's a good setup before reading Rowdy and Destiny's book.

this is a winter novella that just kinda of sets up rowdy's story...as its not a romance story between these two at all but they just both get povs...& i can NOTTT wait for more naughtiiineeessss with this wild crew!!!
Wild is excited to see his cousin, Rowdy. Momma is pregnant with twins so travel isn't advised. Evan is living with Wild & his family. The twists and turns in this novella were amazing. I loved it. Now onto Rowdy’s story
I love K. Webster and this series. While it isn’t for every body, it is an amazing series. This is a taboo novella involving mentions of sexual assault and rape, mental health, drug use and other taboo subjects. Read with caution.
I really liked reading that Wild wanted Rowdy. That really isn't shown in the rest of the series. I hope that the next book has Rowdy and Wild coming a part for each other. (Oh I hope there is going to be more books)
QUICK THOUGHTS 💭 🖤 The emotions the author brings out in just 60-something pages!! I flew through this novella because I had to know what happened next. 🖤 I had to reorient myself to the Wild world after a few years away, but wow am I glad to be back in this dark, taboo world. 🖤 This novella provided more context to Rowdy’s time away from the wild and prepares the reader to dive back into this world again; I’m glad I read this novella before diving into The Rowdy Ones (coming 10/6!). 🖤 My heart breaks for this family and all that they have endured.
This is the story we heard so much about, but yet absolutely nothing about. I was a bit upset in the last two books when they would mention why Rowdy is the way he is, but then they never really told us. This is a short novella to fill us readers in. Definitely read it, don't skip over it!
After reading I had a greater understanding of Rowdy and I feel so bad for him. I was left wondering if he will find his happily ever after, and with who exactly?
Lets grab the next book and find out because it is out now! Yay!
I absolutely loved being back in the Wild world! Rowdy has been through so much and I can’t believe I have to wait until October to get more of his story 😭 This novella is available on K Webster’s website. I believe The Rowdy Ones will also be on there once it releases in early October 2025.
Here we get to see Wild as a kid and then how Rowdy is after his time in hell and my heart broke for him. And when his sister learns what happened to him? Man, my heart broke all the more!!
I found my way to this book after finding out that Rowdy is getting a (taboo 🎉) book in an announcement by K. Webster! I didn't even know this novella existed before it, but omg I'm so excited for Rowdy's book 😍. I read this in 2hrs! Be beware of TWs.
This short story works as a prequel to Rowdy's book / a bridge between the big books. It gives us more info on Rowdy's trauma, & shows his bond with little sister Destiny & "cousin" Wild. I'm glad to find Wild actually wants Rowdy 🤭. I didn't expect all the confessions & talk to happen so fast here, but it sets the stage for dynamics for main book.
Gosh, being friend/sibling zoned hurts. I really hope Rowdy's book is MMF at least 🥺.
⭐ 4 Stars – short, intense, and emotionally raw 📚 Wild World, Book 4.5 | 🔥 A glimpse into Rowdy’s broken heart
This novella may be brief, but it packs so much pain, longing, and confusion into such a tight emotional space.
Wild Winter gives us a brutally honest look into Rowdy, someone we’ve only seen as a side figure in the chaos of the Wild World so far. Now, he's front and centre… and unraveling….and I’m loving it!
Rowdy’s inner voice? Absolutely wrecked me. He’s isolated, ashamed, drowning in his past mistakes and haunted by a forbidden desire he can’t shake. We also have glimpses of Wild…. As well as Destiny…..
I need to know who K. Webster pairs him with in the next full novel, because this setup? It's dark, it's heartbreaking, and it feels like we're about to watch him fall into something he knows he shouldn’t want.
Wild Winter doesn’t give you full answers, but that’s the point.
It’s the silent inhale before the scream. It teases Rowdy’s forbidden feelings, and you know his full story is going to hurt before it heals.
I'm personally aching to see where K. Webster takes this savage soul next. Bring on Book 5.
Wow, talk about facing your fears head-on. But that is what love, protection, and loyalty mean to Rowdy. This short appetizer was filled with the sadness and the cruel reality that these characters, this family, have gone through. I was surprised by the subtle twists. I believe Wild should be loved as fiercely as he loves. I'm also intrigued about who will bring the light at the end of the tunnel not just for Rowdy, but for Wild and Des too. One thing is for sure, for Rowdy to get there in the next book, it will be extremely difficult. But at least he won't be alone. And who knows? Maybe the author will surprise me again.
I was excited to get this quick novella to bridge the gap between the traumatic events from Untamed/Unruly and the next release, The Rowdy Ones.
This is one of my favorite series and I can't wait for Rowdy's story. This novella packs a serious punch for such a short page count. My heart breaks for all of the characters and I can't wait for The Rowdy Ones.
I just knew there was more to Wilds dislike towards Rowdy. but man, did K Webster break my heart with Destiny. Finally hearing some of what she went through when she was taken and the after-effects, I just want to scoop that poor girl up and protect her with my life.
I read this series in 2 days and am now left in a hole because we have to wait for Rowdys' book.
I know they’re all fucked up, but I really cannot wait for Rowdy’s story everything is so painful I really would like to see him happy I don’t care who he ends up with, but I just want him to be fucking happy. Oh my God.
This was a quick treat to get us caught up and hooked for Rowdy’s story… I’m both heartbroken and intrigued. I can’t wait to see what happens and know it will be another Wild ride! I’m always excited when I get to see snippets of the family’s daily life, and this didn’t disappoint…
Rowdy's story promises to be an interesting one about overcoming trauma and finding love. I suppose this will also be a throuple between him, Dez and Wild
