“Had coming to Jonathon Island been a mistake, or the happiest of mistakes?”
Bronte Parker is on a deadline. She’s sequestering herself in a rental cottage on Jonathon Island because she has a publication deadline to meet and has neglected to reveal that she’s fallen way short on her wordcount.
Major Jonah White, Army surgeon, is finally arriving on Jonathon Island to surprise his family after an extended deployment in Germany. He hasn’t seen his family for 2.5 years and he’s nervous about news he must share with them.
They both learn that being honest with their feelings is the key to future happiness.
New-to-me author, Christen Krumm, writes to examine if absence really makes the heart grow fonder and if one can still be friends with someone they’ve just met even after discovering who they really are.
I loved everything about this 5-star book - especially meddling Martha! I saw my husband's accommodating and loving gestures mirrored in Jonah and it made me appreciate him all the more.
This book will stay with me because of what it highlights about:
1) the square peg/round hole idiom. Too often I try to make things work rather than declare what I know is true. This book inspired me to appreciate the experiences and people who ‘fit’ with us - who are our ‘round peg.’
2) the value of speaking up rather than walking away. Bronte learned to advocate for herself and honor her feelings, despite the knowledge that it may make her a square peg.

This was my first visit to Jonathon Island, and I can understand why it's an enjoyable place for other Christian fiction readers. The friendships are tight-knit, and the community is welcoming to strangers, which aptly describes what it's like to jump into the series partway through. Even if you are new to the island, the stories act as standalones, and you will quickly discover that you want to hear everyone else's backstories. Getting to meet Bronte Parker and Jonah White made this Christmas excursion even more fun as we see an initially grumpy author who is under a tight deadline encounter an army doctor who has a penchant for—of all things—rom-com books and Christmas celebrations.
The book is easy to breeze through while addressing issues that can affect relationships. Jonah might possibly be too perfect on the page, but he is a good counterpart to Bronte's stress, self-doubt, and fears, helping her see her worth in God. The other folks on the island really round out this story, imparting a strong sense of Christian fellowship. If you're looking for a quick escape to Jonathon Island over Christmas where you can dive into all the small-town festivities while meeting a sensitive doctor and a frazzled author, this book will help usher in the holidays in the most literary way.

I'm sad for my time on Jonathon Island to come to an end! It seems like such a wonderful place to visit and relax. Cute shops and getting around without vehicles.

Meet Me at the Christmas Cottage was a sweet contemporary romance read. Brontë and Jonah's meet cute was great, hilarious, and unexpected. Brontë's backstory left me hurting for her as she not only grew up in the foster care system but also had her heart broken. She figured she was always the stand-in.
Jonah, who is in the Army, is conflicted regarding his future, but can he do that without disappointing his dad if he pursues his dreams?

This close proximity, strangers to more, set in Christmas time at a cozy cottage is perfect those love strangers to more and cozy Christmas vibes. These two, Brontë and Jonah are perfect strangers until Brontë is renting Jonah’s family home for the holidays while she’s trying to get some much needed writing in. Brontë is a writer but struggling with her next in the series until Jonah gives her inspiration to change how she sees family, Christmas and faith in God.
I loved this sweet Christmas time book with lots of heart, some laughter and a Christmas Ball with Christmas activities.

So sweet!!! Loved it. "Bronte Parker is a successful very-much-non-romance writer who gave up on her own happily-ever-after long ago." And Army surgeon Jonah White are accidental roommates in this delightful Christmas story!
Their 'meet-cute' actually involves a bloodcurdling scream. "She was going to die. Forget about dying by deadline. Bronte Parker was going to die at the hands of the man-the very nice-looking man-who was looming over her." Loved the humor, movie quotes, book quotes, and being back on Jonathon Island.
Bronte is grown up, but her past childhood as a foster kid very much impacts how she sees life. She is behind in her writing with a deadline looming, and Jonah is determined to make this a real Christmas for her and perhaps help her with her writing slump. I love that he is an avid reader and offers to be a sounding board for her. You don't want to miss this sweet and fun bookish romance on Jonathan Island! It's so good to be back with all the friends on the island.
This can totally be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the whole series!

A beautifully crafted, sweet romance! With deep and lovable characters, and a winter wonderland setting, this cozy story put me in the Christmas mood.
Bronte, who is an author, rents a house on Jonathon Island so she can focus on finishing her next book. Jonah is the surprise she wasn’t expecting (in more ways than one). As they spend time together, Jonah is able to help Bronte experience many things for the first time— the best of which is being loved unconditionally. This well written, heartfelt story deals with the tender topic of infertility. The ending is delightfully satisfying. I appreciate that this is a chaste romance with mention of faith in God.

I’ve loved every moment spent on Jonathan Island, getting to know beloved characters, taking in the scenery, and remembering what it’s like to fall in love. It’s been magical.
But this. This is most definitely my favorite of the series. Bronte and I have a lot in common. An unusual childhood, always feeling on the outside looking in, and tremendous social anxiety—especially in crowds of people.
Thankfully, I found my Jonah—or did he find me? No, he’s not a military man, but he’s in the Lord’s army, leading the charge as a pastor. And he gives me the same strength and confidence that Bronte receives from Jonah.
Being seen is the best gift. Being welcomed is good as well. Belonging? Can’t beat it. And that’s why I love this story and why I love Bronte.
She nestled into my heart and won’t be leaving any time soon. And her story had me sobbing through the last few chapters. It’s exquisite. It’s charming. And it’s the very best of the bunch!

This is the final installation of the Jonathan Island books and once again it has me wanting to move. And the Christmas cottage sounds like the perfect place to snuggle in and stay for awhile.
The forced proximity aspect is super cute and well played with a blizzard forcing Bronte and Jonah to stay put in what could have been an awkward situation. Bronte, an author that is struggling to write her next story and Jonah, an army doctor that is coming home after years away, are stuck together in a blizzard at Christmas. Bronte simply wanted a quiet place to write. Jonah simply wanted Christmas with his family and figure out how to share some news that could upset his family.
Jonah has a big heart and has decided to help Bronte with her writers block. And also to give her a true Christmas, something she had never had before.

This book vilified a man for wanting kids.
Giving up a lifelong dream of having children for a person you’ve known like a week is INSANE.

Jonathan Island is a place I dream about after reading all of the books in this series. But Jonathan Island at Christmas is on a whole other dimension. It is a place where dreams can come true. A place where God, community and family are important. This is a place where Bronte Parker needs to be. She just doesn't know it yet.
Bronte is a novelist who has written a highly successful series, some of which have been made into movies. She is coming to the island to write her next book in the series in hopes that the peace and quiet of the quaint island will help her overcome her writer's block. Time is ticking quickly towards her deadline. What she does not expect is a roommate in the house she has rented.
Jonah White is an army surgeon who has not seen his family in several years. He decides to surprise them for Christmas. Instead of his family, he gets the surprise of a stranger in his family home. Let's just say their first meeting was not a good one for either party. Insert a little laughter here.
It was such a meaningful read as the author builds the characters, and you receive insight into what makes them tick. As I read about Bronte's past, I teared up. She was raised in the foster care system, and cynical is not even a good word for her. She even refuses to write a happily ever after in her stories because according to her those do not exist except in fair tales. This poor woman needed someone to show her true love and the love of God. She also believed that God had forgotten her. I saw she used her skepticism as a shield or a wall around her to protect herself from any further hurt. She was crying out for love and acceptance. She just did not want to admit it.
Jonah makes it is his mission to show her happiness does exist in life. He was the perfect man for the job. He was so incredible in every way. He was charming, kind and truly cared about the needs of others, even a stranger who acted like Ebenezer Scrooge.
This book has a valuable lesson in that love does conquer all, especially the love of God. Family is of utmost importance to lift you up when you are down and grieve with you when that is needed as well.
The ending was superb. I cannot even contain my smile, and my happy tears after reading the way this ended.

Meet Me at the Christmas Cottage is the perfect ending to the Jonathan Island series. Though I am sad to say goodbye to this town and its residents, it really has been a fun place to visit. If you love a good Hallmark series, this is the series to read. This is the first book I have read by Christen Krumm, and I look forward to reading some more.
The character development was great. Bronte was a foster kid and has a lot to unpack from her past in the system. Watching Bronte process things while also writing her book on a short deadline was fun. Jonah is trying to figure out what he wants to do next. Feeling the family pressure of being a doctor, it’s a hard decision to make. Follow his family calling or lean into God’s plans for his dreams.
The setting is perfection. If you have seen any of my other reviews about Jonathan Island, it’s very clear that I have fallen in love with this island town. The storyline is great. It starts with some confusion when Bronte rents the White’s home, and Jonah comes home to try to surprise his family, only to find that someone else is staying there. The family is away on vacation, so they can’t get a hold of anyone, paired with a snowstorm, and every place is booked. Bronte and Jonah decided to stay together in the family home and make the best of a bad situation. Bronte is on a writing deadline and trying to write her next novel. I have been really loving all the books with behind-the-scenes on writing a book lately. Such a fun dynamic. In this book, we get to check in on all the other couples in the series and see where they are at. It was a fun way to end the perfect Hallmarkesque series.
The Forced-proximity turned romance is perfection, sweet and kisses-only romance.
Christen Krumm did a great job intertwining faith throughout the book. This was a beautiful reminder that when we feel like we are not accepted, we always belong to God, we can always find our home in Him.

Meet Me at the Christmas Cottage is the perfect ending to the Jonathan Island series. Though I am sad to say goodbye to this town and its residents, it really has been a fun place to visit. If you love a good Hallmark series, this is the series to read. This is the first book I have read by Christen Krumm, and I look forward to reading some more.
The character development was great. Bronte was a foster kid and has a lot to unpack from her past in the system. Watching Bronte process things while also writing her book on a short deadline was fun. Jonah is trying to figure out what he wants to do next. Feeling the family pressure of being a doctor, it’s a hard decision to make. Follow his family calling or lean into God’s plans for his dreams.
The setting is perfection. If you have seen any of my other reviews about Jonathan Island, it’s very clear that I have fallen in love with this island town. The storyline is great. It starts with some confusion when Bronte rents the White’s home, and Jonah comes home to try to surprise his family, only to find that someone else is staying there. What a sweet twist to this series. A Christmas story! I love it!
In this book, we see the return of Jonah, with his struggle to know what to do with his life. We also get to meet Bronte, a woman with a few secrets and struggles.
Can these two, thrown together by mistake, overcome their issues to find joy during the holidays?
I truly enjoyed reading this holiday story! It was fun to get into the mood as the weather was changing outside. Now I think I’m ready for the holiday season to start!
Christen Krumm is a new author for me to read, but I genuinely enjoyed how she wrote this story. There was drama, fun snark, sweet moments, and lots of Christmas spirit. Meet me at the Christmas Cottage by Christen Krumm is a cute but complicated Christmas story that takes place in the Jonathon Island Universe, an island that mimics Mackinac Island- isolated, no cars, infrequent ferries- just the place to get stuck in for the holidays.
Bronte, a successful author chose the island to be able to write her latest book whose deadline is looming. She rents a cottage but gets interrupted by the unexpected arrival of the owner’s brother, Jonah, an army doctor on leave. You guessed it, sparks fly in this close proximity story.
The author pulled me in to the story with the wonderful premise, the witty banter, the friendly inhabitants and the Christmas atmosphere. The likeable hero and heroine, who are working through their past disappointments and expectations, fall in love quickly, but it makes perfect sense. They are good for each other and Jonah encourages Bronte to trust God again, not without a few glitches along the way.
A warm, cozy, Christmasy story. This makes me want to return to Jonathon Island for more stories.

This is such a sweet Christmas romance story!
I loved meeting Bronte and Jonah, and watching them interact, and seeing a relationship form between them.
Bronte carries so much baggage, and is determined she's not worth the relationship.
Jonah has also been burned in the past....and yet, somehow, these two find themselves drawn together in a very short time.
Gotta say -- I'm never quite sure if I believe in that whole love at first sight bit...but it does make for a sweet story here! Although I'm not sure it felt entirely realistic to me, but it was FUN to read!
If you are looking for a sweet holiday story, then I recommend you try this one!

‘Authors write what they know about.’ This is quite a popular premise and one that author, Bronte, having grown up in the foster care system lives by, writing a family saga readers, and her agent, consider ‘sad’. Writer’s block and a looming deadline motivates her to retreat to a rental house on Jonathon Island just before Christmas.
Army surgeon, Jonah, decides to surprise his family with a visit for Christmas, except that he gets the surprise when he discovers his childhood home occupied by a stranger, instead of his family!
A delightful novel with lots of small-town Christmas ambiance, a group of close friends encouraging and supporting one another, and a very reluctant heroine who can’t resist a good-looking and kind man.
The author holds the attention of her readers with her writing pace and plot development as she reveals the dilemmas both Bronte and Jonah experience from the beginning and describes their changing mindsets as events unfold.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Bronte is a broken and lonely author who doesn’t believe in happy endings. What’s more? She has a major case of writer’s block. The cure? Spending the Christmas season all alone on Jonathon Island in a lovely rented house where she can finish her book before her New Year’s deadline. Oh the anxiety Bronte gave me as the book progressed, and she still had way too many words left to write!
Jonah is an army doctor, facing reenlistment, who doesn’t know his next steps. All he wants is to spend Christmas with his family in his childhood home, but his surprise homecoming only surprised him when instead of his loving family, a beautiful stranger greets him at their home.

I've enjoyed this series, and now, I've had a chance to celebrate the holidays on Jonathon Island! Imagine a blizzard outside, two very opposite people on the inside, and no way to escape each other's company. One person only wanted a quiet place to finish her book, and the other longed for the joy of Christmas with family. Grumpy versus cheerful. How would this scenario play out?
I loved Bronte and Jonah! From a hilarious first meeting to intriguing snippets of their pasts, from heartwarming awareness until a perfect ending, this is a book you don't want to miss! I was engaged with the characters, the Christmas holidays, and the budding romance. My only reservation? This is the last book in the Jonathon Island series!
I recommend "Meet Me at the Christmas Cottage" to all who enjoy contemporary Christian romance. Kudos to Christen Krumm and Susan May Warren!

A snowstorm traps them together and Jonah tangles Bronte into decorating the house Christmas tree, going to the Christmas stroll through town, participating in the snowman building contest, and going to the Christmas ball. Which she seems all happy to do, even though it distracts her from writing her book.
I loved Jonathon Island and the whole community, and support shown by them throughout the entire book. I enjoyed all of the festive activities the community held and how Jonah showed her all of the things she missed in her childhood. I enjoyed Bronte and Jonah’s very slow burn of a relationship.

First of all, it should be clearly marked when a book is Christian. I’m not interested in reading those books so this will color my review. Jonah takes everything lightly like absolutely nothing matters. He laughs about saying grace or making food or getting snowed in, when he hasn’t been home for years because of some big dark secret I didn’t care enough to find out. Brontë is trying to write the last book in her very popular series and is struggling because her series is a bit doom and gloom. They get snowed in on an island which is my dream trope and they totally destroyed my dream trope. Not happy about that.
Jonah is very one-dimensional. He’s an army surgeon yet filled with cheer all the time. It doesn’t feel normal that anyone is that cheery and certainly not someone who has likely seen the things he’s seen. He talks all the time about wanting children, and we already know she can’t have children. I can’t believe I got 31% into the book.

With the deadline on her novel looming and almost 90,000 words left to write, Brontë Parker rents a house on Jonathon Island so that she can focus on meeting her deadline.
Jonah White is a surgeon in the Army who heads to Jonathon Island to break some news that he has been warned will break his father’s heart.
When Jonah and Brontë end of forced to share his sister’s house things heat up. Jonah needs to work through how family expectations will impact his goals and dreams. Brontë must come to grips with her past to move on to the life of love that God has planned for her.
This sweet Christian romance is well developed and covers some deep topics. I would strongly recommend this book.

I loved this next installment in the Jonathon Island series! The author was adept at bringing Christmas time and the feelings of the season to life, and it was so comforting to read this book at a tough time. I related to Brontë so much, especially when she was feeling inadequate, stressed, and lonely. Her story was very encouraging to me, and I highlighted several passages that meant so much to me. The Christmas atmosphere and the funny, sweet romance was just what I needed to read at that moment. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys inspirational romance and who might need a sweet, holiday pick me up. I am so glad that there will be more Jonathon Island stories, and I am looking forward to reading them!

All the swooniness you need......
I loved this book and series. I had just put this series on my tbr list last week and quickly got through the six books, as I am a fast reader. I loved all of the romance, the longing, the descriptives of the romance without all of the spice, because that's what I really like in romance books is not all of the spice. It also helps that I know the author for book 6 and so I was pleased to read it knowing her and how exciting that was. I also loved that she set the main character to be from Tulsa which is where I know her from so all of the familiar things about Tulsa were fun toward the end of the book as well. I am looking forward to reading season 2 of the Jonathan series, and can't wait to read more of what Christen has written. I've read her other book, as well and it was very good also.

Jonah is a military man and back to surprise his family for Christmas. He struggles with his dreams and wishes but is afraid that what he wants is not what is expected of him.
Very cute story that will leave you laughing, in tears, and excited for the Christmas season.

I really liked this story. The plotline doesn't shy away from harder subjects but doesn't get lost in them either. The pacing breathes, and the characters came alive for me.
Army Surgeon Jonah White didn't get eaten by a whale, but he does come from a large family of sisters. Novelist Bronte Parker is content to be an inky and mysterious wallflower.
I loved how the author crafted their differences, their compatibility, and their shared value of literacy.
I was reminded of Shakespeare's Sonnet 116, in a ‘marriage of true minds…love is not love / Which alters when it alteration finds.’ I leave this book with a full heart and an open mind, and I’m hoping you will too.
