Psalm Reign is the IT specialist for his family’s online brokering business. When his brother is shot and sent home under 24-hour nursing supervision, he moves in to assist with caring for his brother and watching his back. As handsome and successful as Psalm is, he’s always been more into gaming and computers than the fairer sex. When the gorgeous chocolate nurse gains his attention, he starts to wonder if there is more to life than his family’s crime empire and designing games.

Recently separated from her husband, Anya Williams has been fighting to find her independence in spite of her husband’s refusal to give her a divorce. When she finds a job working as a home health nurse, she never expected her client’s grumpy brother to be so captivating.

No matter how enchantingly beautiful she is, Psalm equates Anya’s presence to his brother’s condition. He wants her gone and is not afraid to show it. The sooner Bishop’s nurse leaves the better. Annoyed by her very existence, Psalm avoids Anya at all costs. While she watches over his brother, he watches over her. As much as he hates to admit it, the bubbly nurse is the bright spot in the darkest time of his life. When he realizes she needs his protection, Psalm doesn’t hesitate to step in.

This was MID. I was lured in by the cover, but the characters hardly drew me in.

We begin as Anya is going through another traumatic experience, as her husband is there in body only. His cold and callous behavior is only amplified once Anya finds out that he could very well be the cause of their loss. Leaving her husband and getting back to work are priorities one and two, to get her life back on track. However, her boss at work does not understand the meaning of the word no, and his harassment is becoming her undoing.

Getting offered the job to care of Bishop Reign, and leave the hospital was a dream come true for Anya. Well, at first it was. Until she meets Bishop's rude ass brother Psalm. He won't talk to me, and when he does it is with such malice like he hates me. What is his damn deal? 😤

Psalm is used to everyone leaving him alone to do his thing in solitude, until he has to share space with Bishop's new nurse. Why can't I concentrate when she is around? Why does she smell so good? Why do scrubs look so damn good on her? I need her gone as she is the biggest distraction. That's what his mouth said, but his mind and heart wanted Anya bad. Once Psalm actually led with his heart and spoke to Anya, things moved quickly with them as she was feeling him as well.

Then the weird ish started to happen with someone messing with Anya, and Psalm's protective instincts kicked in. She was his to protect, as he could not lose anyone else. I loved seeing the vulnerability come out of Psalm as he showed and spoke the feelings of his heart to Anya.

I was a bit shocked to find out who was behind all that weird stalking, as I believed it was Graham behind it all. 🤯 So happy for Psalm. 💓

i’m troubled by this book having such high ratings. it was dang near terrible. but i wont go that far because i did like psalm. he was a bit childish in his behavior, in the beginning. but with time it showed he had commitment issues. idk. i also thought he was kinda bad with his whole job of being a nerd. like if he was able to handle tech situations, i personally don’t believe it should’ve taken that much time to find the actual stalker. other than, i do believe the love/feelings he had for anya was cute. he attempted to execute those feelings well. anya on the other hand, was mad annoying. she just came off a little too dumb for my liking. the whole “damsel in distress” trope was more like dumbass who didn’t want to help herself. the issues she was facing with graham could’ve been resolved and she was way too dumb to keep allowing michael to do the things he was doing. the brothers finding out super late who actually did the shooting was also weird. i ultimately feel like the timeline was a bit off, there was a lot of details missing and the characters didn’t exactly mesh. i’m giving it 2.5 rounded down.

Just no.
Psalm acted like a kid who bullies the girl he likes, I aint like that.
One minute they were arguing next minute she on her back, what is thisss ( iykyk the meme I'm talking about) and his attitude shift was head turning.
Anya is annoying and she did dumb things, serious things were happening and she did not have a care or a worry in the world about it. And when she does start to worry it's about the wrong things I just could not stand her.

I'm sorry there was no previous interactions that we read about that allowed me to believe that those I love you's should have been said when they were.

This really was not the book for me, tried to give it a chance but at the end I just skimmed and couldn't wait for it to be over.

2.5 okay stars.

This was an okay read. I was intrigued by the promise of a grumpy-sunshine romance in the synopsis but that wasn’t quite what we got. While Psalm was somewhat grumpy, I wouldn’t go so quiet as to call Anya, sunshine. I feel like this story had a lot of potential but there wasn’t enough plot or character development. A lot of the pieces that would have added to the drama and the plot were edited out- from the conversation between Anya and her husband when she gets final confirmation he’s trifling, to all the stalking incidents and the resolution. This all felt somewhat incomplete and a little too skimpy of a story. It also felt like perhaps there were other linked books with context that would have helped us understand this one more, yet not enough nuggets of that context were shared to make me want to go hunt down previous related books. Other than this, I suppose I did finish it so I suppose it wasn’t all bad.

First book I read by this author it will not be my last. Anya goes through a lot with her husband when she is finally fed up she ask for a divorce which her husband refuses she moves out and moves on. Stalking soon takes place and her car tires gets flat so much is happening in her life she doesn’t know who to blame her husband or the new man she has been sleeping with.
I hope to read more about the two main characters and maybe the MC sister gets her own book since she is talking to someone

I like to read fluffy stories like this in between larger reads to break them up a bit. I like this genre, it’s easy, fun and steamy. But when you find authors who have (to me) mastered this genre, it’s really hard to read offerings that fall short. This one fell very short. Insta everything! Just boom we’re here now. That’s just not fun to read. Boo!! Meh!

This book was overhyped. There were a lot of holes and many time jumps. Didn’t grow a connection with the characters. The plot was good though

The only thing I didn’t like was, how the female character was written to be helpless or she didn’t know what to do at times and had to mainly depend on a man for everything . Like girl come on. But other than that I liked the book.

Very entertaining story, I actually liked Psalms character a lot - he did not expect to fall for Anya the way he did. The story was quick to read and things took a turn that I wasn’t expecting. 3.5⭐️

This was okay to me idk something about the timeline of this one being the same as the other 3 dark reign dynasty books kinda put me to sleep. I liked Psalm and thought although a lil juvenile his behavior was cute. I couldn’t get into Anya sis went to school for all them years and the intelligence just wasn’t matching up. Like I know nurses go through a lot to earn them license so the smoking and the stupidity just didn’t mesh well. She didn’t give black most of the book girl was ditzy, dumb and in denial (that Ima give him a call and see if we can squash this, gave Caucasian woman in a scary movie) I also wish authors would spend more time building the background up. Like I don’t wanna get to the middle point of the book and see her finally explain her and Grahams dynamic, start with that so we the readers can at least make sense of a relationship, empathize and understand the ties they had to each other. Then it’s like she was always a damsel in distress but NEVER TOOK CHARGE AND CHANGED THAT. In these 19 chapters crying about having to be rescued lmaoo yet you floundering and flopping like a fish out of water at every turn.

Plain Sight

Behind every pair of shades are eyes focused more on you don’t be dormant on activities around you. Knowing your surroundings doesn’t make you paranoid, acknowledging who, what and when to allow the right people in your presence is key.

Psalm by far is my book husband

This book was fiya!!! Anya was working on my nerves when she accused Psalm. Micheal fate should have been met by a 9mm instead of 12-mths in jail.

Psalm!!!

That man was a whole mess but he did not play about any of the people he cared about. He most definitely understood the assignment.

I felt like the book was shallow and it was just smut. There was no build up from either of the characters, just sex and lust

So. Apparently this book is a part of a series and the author’s note recommends reading the other two books before this one. However, I read the synopsis for both of those books, wasn’t interested, and made the decision to read “Psalm” anyway.

“Psalm” picks up after the events in one of those books and has characters from them but in actuality, you don’t *need* to read the other books to know what’s going on in this one. The happenings from those books are carried over into this one but everything is explained. Also “Psalm” focuses on Psalm and Anya’s relationship. The drama is secondary.

“Feenin” by Jodeci perfectly sums up Psalm’s desire and love for Anya. [Most of] Psalm’s antics were so adorable and romantic. He had me smiling big af and squealing like he was doing the shit for me 😂 Psalm was also lowkey funny sometimes.

Anya started off as slightly naive and inept when it came to personal matters, but she matured into a capable and aware character by the end. She was also hilarious and had me laughing at some of her antics. I also liked her friendship with Charlotte. I wish we got to see more of it, but I understand why we didn’t.

Psalm and Anya were really good together. I was initially surprised with how fast they gave each other pet names and got into a relationship, but had to remember there are time jumps in this book, which I appreciated. And it’s not just time jumps for the calendar time that has passed. We’re getting time jumps between destinations that are minutes apart from each other. In one sentence, Anya might be talking about going to Psalm’s house and the next sentence, she’s already there.

I thought the epilogue was really cute and was a satisfactory wrap up to this book. Psalm being overbearing had me laughing, but it was understandable.

And one last thing, this book could’ve gotten five stars from the cover alone 🥵😂 That model is fine lol.

Psalm and Anya!!

Reading Psalm and Anya's story just took me to my happy place because of how good this book is. After Anya was hired as a nurse for his brother, Psalm didn't know what to do with his developing feelings for Anya. Not surprising, Psalm didn't hold out for long before he made his move. Anya's bestie, Charlotte, was right. Psalm turned out to be that quiet freak. 😂😂 Psalm and Anya's passion generated a lot of heat that you could feel leaping from the pages. I loved Psalm's protectiveness mixed with a bit of the unhinged, but you knew underneath it all, his behavior was due to his love for Anya. Graham and Michael were both lunatics in my book because who does the things to women that they both did? This was a thoroughly enjoyable book that I highly recommend you pick up!!

Real love without nonsense

This book was just as good as the others. I love how some loved on oh girl because it was unconditional. Her husband did not deserve her. He was a asshole, and I was glad that she left his ass for what he did. Sometimes it just goes to show You don’t always get what you want with the man you think you love you get what you want and God blesses you with the man that truly loves you. Sam and his brothers were amazing. I love their bond and along with their cousins, and he deserve this happiness. Great book. Great read I enjoyed every bit of it and Miss James please come with something else. I need more.

I love the characters

It was nice to see thugs that pray. I got pulled into this book from the first paragraph. I was instantly invested because of the coldness of one character, it made me wonder if he is showing his butt this early, what kind of ride am I in for? I hadn't read the previous books before this one, so for a newcomer to this world it was still easy to follow and I don't feel like I lost anything by not knowing the back stories. All in all... I read this book in a few hours and, would have been done sooner if my niece and nephews did not keep wanting my attention lol 😂.

Psalm and Anya

Psalm, ain’t nothing about him scary at all. The way he made sure Anya was straight while caring for his brother and not saying her word to her in the beginning. Then when he finally gave in and just went for it. Yea, he definitely showed nothing about him was scary. I knew Mikey (LOL) was a creep. But both Psalm and Anya level one another out because Psalm don’t play when it came to Anya, meanwhile Anya wanted to do everything by the law. Book is good! 5 stars but a 10 out of 10!

be of my Favorites!

Psalm is a conundrum! A hood that cures and expresses his feelings freely?! I was totally in after the first chapter. Poor Anya has not one but two stalkers! As they navigate starting a relationship, dealing with her stalkers and learning to trust each other, there are answers to mysteries from the previous stories. This book was great and of course the steam of romance and hilarious banter was on point as well!

Psalm

Clearly i read this out of order and was only confused on the parts of Bishop and their aunt but it did not take away from Psalm and Anya. The thing I liked is he never saw her as a damsel in distress like her ex did. He knew he wanted to protect her at all costs and did so by any means.

This book was interesting to say the least. Psalm was my guy, I mean you have a nerd and computer genius wrapped all in one..and don't forget that he was fine as a new bottle of wine. Again, I could not stand Anya. I mean I understand that she was going through something with her no good conniving nasty wanka husband who WAS the cause of her losing her baby, that she had to give my guy Psalm a hard time. Again, Anya was a woman who didn't value herself and she definitely didn't understand the assignment of know her self worth. She lost herself along the way when she got married. Psalm was a very patient and loving, caring and sympathetic fine ass man who did everything in his power to show Anya just how much she was worth and for some crazy reason, she didn't get it at first. To speak on her boss Graham, man that dude couldn't catch a hint if you gave him a map and a clue that she wasn't interested in him made my blood boil. He didn't understand the word NO! (he was a total creep and that's putting it mildly, I would have been had somebody pull up on that dude) and his harassment definitely had a lot to do with Anya's mental state. She started thinking it was her ex-husband and to ultimately decide that it must have been Psalm who was playing tricks on her. This book was one that I love and hate all in one.

Hate to love her

This book was such a good time. Psalm was so down bad and delusional about this woman, and it was so comical. I love the grumpy/sunshine trope, and I love it more when the grumpy party is a curmudgeon because they hate the fact that they like the sunshine character, and that was the case here. Psalm really was upset that he liked Anya, and that made his actions even funnier. He was a certified crashout, but I love them getting together and his willingness to do anything for her.

My heart was hurting for Anya in the beginning being mistreated by her own husband after experiencing a miscarriage. He was so insensitive toward her and the entire situation. Graham was definitely a narcissists his lackey of accountability and then was mad when she wanted a divorce. Psalm was a true blessing and I love how he was always coming to her rescue and paid attention to her needs. That’s the type of man women deserves. Then Michael was a straight creep and he deserved everything he got. Great read 🔥🔥🔥

PSALM & ANYA ❤️

I really enjoyed this story. Psalm was the quiet, loner of the family who took on everyone's else's problems but with good reason. I loved how this book gave him his own love story. Although Anya was dealing with her own issues, you could easily see the attraction between her and Pssalm. He was a great protector and lover. I loved reading about Pdalm's growth in opening up and experiencing falling in love. Despite the craziness going on in their lives, these two were truly meant to be. An amazing read. Glad the Reign brothers got their happily ever after with some amazing women.

Loved this!!

Psalms story was so cute and refreshing!! He tried to fight that internal pull as long as he could before giving in. I love the way Anya accepted the love that Psalm offered even after the endured all that she did with Graham. I’m glad they got their happily ever after because they both deserved one!!

Delulu

Psalm was delulu. I loved him. His no-nonsense personality was one for the books. Anya was too trusting in my opinion, but I'm happy at the ending. Now Psalm, how you get mad and you created the hostility in the beginning????? At least he knew what he wanted and didn't let up.

I ate this book up!

I enjoyed this book so much! I love how attentive and sweet Psalm is when it comes to Anya. He does now play about her. That ending was so freaking cute! I love how Anya finally got the ending that she wanted and deserved. This is my favorite out of the of the brothers books. Will definitely be reading the next!
