My brother’s best friend has no idea how I really feel about him. So, I pick a bold way to make it asking him to take my V card.
Rhys To most people, he’s the bad boy of college hockey, thanks to his rough play on the ice, broody demeanor, and the tattoos that cover his rippling physique. To me, though, he’s the guy who sends me playlists and makes me laugh when I’m in a bad mood. He’s also the guy I’ve been in love with for most of my life—but to him, I’m just his best friend’s dorky sister.
An introverted art student deciding to finally come out of my shell this year. I’m determined to make up for the time I’ve lost as a wallflower and catch up on all the experiences I’ve missed out on—including in the bedroom.
Rhys is helping me become more confident; teaching me to finally take risks to get what I want.
So, I put his advice into practice in a way he never asking him to be my first.
Now my brother’s best friend is showing me everything I’ve been missing out on.
I promise myself that I’ll keep my heart in check. That I won’t let myself get used to us being more than friends.
But when it comes to love, maybe some promises are meant to be broken.

TROPES: ~brother's best friend ~virgin heroine ~childhood friends to lovers ~slow burn
This was a cute read! The hero and heroine have known each other since childhood, he's her brother's best friend. They're close friends as well. Rhys sends her music playlists, they have inside jokes, and they're adorable together. :)
This is a slow burn, but it does burn eventually! The only thing I didn't like was that the hero had feelings for the heroine yet slept around with other people. Blegh.
sometimes a girl needs a short hockey romance because she’s been watching too many world junior interviews, this is one of those times.
this is a very simple and low stakes college, hockey romance that would be good to get someone out of a slump or fulfill a need. i enjoyed the characters and thought their relationship was nice but its not anything crazy or new. i did really appreciate how the book didn’t go on for too long and that the brother didn’t react like an alpha male to finding out his best friend was dating his sister!
This was a cute and cozy hockey romance, but there just wasn't a lot that made it stand out compared to all the other hockey and brother's best friend romances out there.
Rhys was sweet, and I love how they pined over each other for years, but I felt like Maddie was a meh character. Not a bad story, just not a memorable one for me
This is a sweet, very low drama story. They’ve known each other since childhood and both had a crush on each other. I wish both MCs had waited for each other and not just the h.
Looking for a cute and short read? This is it! I am an absolute sucker for the brother’s best friend trope and I really enjoyed the way it was written in this book. The book is really easy to read, as is the rest of the series, but it isn’t necessary to have read to other books to read this one. But they’re good too so why skip them?
I absolutely loved this book. Brother ‘s best friend trope is definitely a new favorite. It did make me cringe when he crashed her date, but he loved her so much. He literally is the if you hurt her I will hurt you and I love it. I liked how fast paced it was (but it didn’t feel rushed), even though they’ve known each other since childhood.
I lost more brain cells reading this book than I would have if I had a time machine to go back and slam my head through the wall and punch myself in the face instead of opening this book
I really want to love this story so bad but the slow burn is fvcking annoying!!!! Half of the story is about the heroine and hero back and forth with the slow burn annoying scenes where they almost kissed and not, stupid games 🥵
I’m sorry, but I hate slow-burn stories like this, especially with this type of couple to begin with. Both want each other so badly, and the attraction becomes a very high demand when they are getting closer than ever. But still, both of them are annoying with the slow burn. I blame the hero the most because he is such a stupid man for not taking action just because the heroine is the best friend’s sister. Like, what are you waiting for? For the sky to turn purple with glitter? EVEN MY GRANDPA CAN WALK FASTER THAN THIS HERO’S ACTIONS SERIOUSLY.
And let me be straightforward with you cause I’m at the moment right now where i really am so disappointed on the story. THE HEROINE CONFESSED HER FEELINGS FIRST FOR THE HERO!!! MOTHERFFFFCCCKAKSHAH 😡😡😡😡😡 I’m not a fanatic feminist, tbh nope i am not like that. BUT FOR THE HEROINE TO SAID FIRST ABOUT HER FEELINGS TO THE HERO? THAT’S SOOOOOO LOW ~ It made me want to puke and vomit so bad physically and emotionally when i read that part 🥵🥵 IT AIN’T RIGHT 🥶 WHERE IS YOUR DIGNITY??!!!! 😣 like eewww!!!
I mean after she confessed and they kissed finally AFTER A LONG CHAPTERS OF DOING DUMB SH*T SLOW BURN SCENES 🤬 The kissed was great, romantic and all of that but still… BUT STILL… The heroine confessed first????! 🤬 (I’m a painter) so if i can paint this scene with my emotions being annoyed with the heroine confessed first to the hero, it’s like: they’re kissing in the top of a cow sh*t because even tho the kissed was great, still the sh*t is there because the heroine confessed first… sorry but it just annoyed me that she even do that and this scene was even written like this like HUGE WTF MOMENT for me 😭😭
Also when you keep reading this, it’s like the heroine is the one who always a bit pursuing the hero. Like asking s3x for the first time, she did that. And sometimes she shows up at his room first like that, idk it’s like the heroine always doing that first makes me a bit annoyed. Cause i want the hero to do all of that!!!!!! Not the heroine!!!!!
And also the hero have been dreaming about having and wanting the heroine as his for YEARS he said. MANY YEARS he said. That was a bit off because why you taking it so long to do something you claim to love???! 😓 I hate that part as well. Like: i love you for so many years but can’t date you immediately cause you’re my best friend’s sister 🥵 Excuses and excuses 😥
If you’re a patient person and love slow burns and love stories like this then this is your book 🙏🏼 But for me this is definitely not the book and story for me…
‼️‼️‼️Safe all the way. No drama with OW. Only with OM but it’s not annoying tho or too much, nope. The heroine is a virgin, the hero is not but he is celibate for a long time. NO CHEATING and no separation. There was unnecessary childish drama but not too annoying. NO mean friends, it has bullying scene but it was only one time and a short one. The hero is not a manwhor3 he said and even his friends said that too… The chemistry is amazing 💘💘 He remembers everything about her, her likes and dislikes and same goes with the heroine remembers everything about him too… No strip club! Great s3x scenes especially the hero loves to worship the heroine’s body and prioritize her… It has pushing away couple of times between both of them but not annoying enough to made me more mad about them with the slow burn🤣 Happy ending… Married and the bonus book epilogue shows them having adorable daughters 💘💘💘💘
⚡️⚡️⚡️THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING MY REVIEW. Even if you hate my review i still say thank you so much cause you spend your time reading this one👻 I’m not a professional reviewer or professional reader. I’m just someone who likes to read novels that is safe and no cheating whatsoever. And many more that i like lol😆 I DID NOT GET PAID TO DO THIS. This is just basically me writing my review based on my personal opinion about the book if it’s safe or what I will write it all down just the way i like it 😏 I know my review can be very straightforward with the way i write it down all of it and not a professional writing because again I’m not professional reviewer anyway. And whatever negativity you might think of what i write or what my thoughts are on my review about a book, me and you are not the same person. I have my own types of book and you have your own. You have your own thoughts and same with me. You can’t control what I should write on my review and neither should I. I WILL NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT AND I WON’T EVER REPLIED TO IT. If you still don’t like what i write and my disclaimer here, IT’S A YOU PROBLEM. NOT MINE😙 HAVE A GREAT DAY❤️❤️❤️
Types of book that I’m looking for: SAFE, safe all the way from the beginning till the end🥵 No cheating, no unnecessary childish drama. Not too much OW DRAMA cause they are loud and annoying lol. NO to still having feelings about a ex especially wants go get back together tf no. NO to friends with benefits and still seeing other people type of sh*t. NO to hero or heroine who said i love you and have been obsessed but still likes to fvck around yeah big NO to that sh*t. NOOO to still married or still in a relationship with someone else while liking the main character, yeah they have to be single since the beginning. NOOO to a long separation and have someone else they have s3x with during the separation. NOO to too many times of separation and breaking up sh*t. NOO to toxic narcissistic characters. I preferred the characters are loyal to the core, over the top possessive heroes since the beginning and never stops, main characters have unique jobs or talents, the hero adores and obsessed with the heroine so much, the hero fell harder for the heroine and don’t want let her go and fight for her. And most importantly EPILOGUE AND ESPECIALLY THE DECADES LATER SCENE…. HAPPY ENDING IS A MUST. Chemistry is a must too 🙏🏼
I have not read a great deal of books however from what I can gather, this seems like a standard romance story and has nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd.
There was a good amount of spice with a solid romance story line but a disappointing lack of plot. The ending was supposedly meant to be a feel good happy ending, however it was just boring and failed to make me want to turn the page, it just needed that little bit more!
Characters were well written and their monologue was easy to enjoy.
This was the one I was looking forward to the most in this series but somehow it’s my least fave so far?? I just felt their sexual relationship took over their romantic relationship, but I wanted the giddy kicking my feet feeling, you know? And instead it was just reading about them being horny.
One of those situations where expectations didn’t meet reality. They were cute though, and it was still a fun and easy read. I’m going to continue the series because I’m on a roll, so take that as you will.
The idea and the anticipation of Rhy's story was easily 5 ⭐ for me. I am just a sucker for a "forbidden" romance, yearning and the brother's best friend tropee Sadly, the exectution was 1-2 ⭐but I can't bring myself to rate it this low so it is an averge 3 ⭐read.
I have to start off by saying that there is nothing particularly wrong with this book, I like the cover, the set up is glorious, editing and formatting is on point. However, and I cannot stress this enough, nothing happens in this book. There are no stakes, no risks are being taken, I would almost call this boring. There is no tension, no anything. I just kind of skimmed over the last 40% because what else was there supposed to happen? And seeing how it doesn't seem like I missed any plot, that impressions seems accurate to me.
I am not sure if this book fell flat for me because my anticipation for their story was so high that there is no way it could have been presented in a satisfactory manner or maybe this was just ... rushed? I kind of wish the author would have taken more time with this.
I really wanted to like this one. I like the first two of the series more. This one I felt it was mostly them having internal conversations about how much they liked each other at least for the first half. And then them getting together was anticlimactic. A cute couple but a boring story overall.

Okay I LOVE a brothers best friend trope… like it’s my favorite. What I do not like is the “let’s make a deal where you teach me/give me my firsts” blah blah BLAH. Girl shut up
Also how in the eff did neither of them realize that the other has been in love with you basically your entire existences
The writing in this was kinda boring like it felt like a lot of filler and the author wasn’t sure how to fill the space
All this to say that Rhys is a good boy and Maddie didn’t infuriate me like a lot of FMC’s do in situations like this
Anyways

I enjoyed this one a lot and I love the brothers best friend trope so that was a bonus. I just wish it didn't take more than 50% of the book to get to the actual storyline that was mentioned in the blurb. Which also meant I was left wishing they would finally get together for more than half of the book and it made the first part feel very slow.
I enjoy this series! This was a cute story, but kind of lack luster. Not a lot of build up to “her brother finding out trope”. The brother was pretty absent the entire boo, so the hook ended up just being the two characters being cute and falling in love with no issues.
I did get frustrated with how many times they “almost kissed” - that was getting old lol BUT overall, the story was cute and the characters were likable.
I would recommend this series as just a good easy read.
Soz just didn’t vibe. Felt a bit awkward and childish with them some smut thrown in? Instalove is deffo not for me and apparently every book is just meh after Deep End (rip my reading future)
Probably my least favorite in the series, but still quick, cut, and light hearted. Makes for a nice palate cleanser between heavier, longer books for sure.
