Holly Noelle has lived her entire life in Tinsel, Tennessee. This year, her usual happy, jolly soul is stretched too thin. She’s maxed out with her list of responsibilities and her family obligations. Deciding that this year will be her last as an elf in Santa’s Village, she’s making the choice to focus more on herself and her needs. Holly’s Christmas wish is to find someone who will light up her world and make her heart sing.
When she meets the grinch whose house she’s requested to decorate, she can’t imagine him ever fitting the bill. She quickly finds out he wasn’t the one that made the request and has no love for the Christmas season. He may be off-the-charts sexy, but his grumpy attitude could sour what little Christmas spirit she has left.
Gabe Shepherd has a hate-hate relationship with the merriest season of the year. Growing up without a family, he never had an opportunity to celebrate Christmas like most people do. Having moved to Tinsel, Tennessee in the summer he had no idea what he was in for. Being surrounded by garland, lights and everything bright for months is his worst nightmare.
Meeting Holly brings Gabe fully out of the past and locks him into the present. She opens his eyes to the joys of the season, helping him heal old wounds. With the help of Holly, a Marine buddy, and a family member Gabe didn’t know existed until a year ago, he finds his heart full of the Christmas spirit and decides to create roots in this over-the-top Christmas-loving town.
This is one of my favorite holiday reads so far this season even though insta-love isn't exactly one of my favorite tropes.
Holly Noelle has spent every Christmas playing the role of an elf in Santa's Village in addition to her many other responsibilities. She's ready to make herself a priority and wishes that she could find someone who will light up her world the way that she lights up the small town of Tinsel, Tennessee. When she decorates the home of Gabe Shepherd, she has no idea that it's not at his request. Gabe is a grinch who doesn't appreciate all of the lights and decorations that Holly has spewed all over his yard. Then he meets Holly. She may just be the person that Gabe needs to show him the joy of the holiday season.
Holly and Gabe's story drew me in right from the start. It's festive and fun, but it also has an underlying story that's a bit sad too. I love how the author wove all of this into an unforgettable Christmas story that is worthy of a holiday channel classic.
Although this is a shorter book which takes place over a matter of a few days, these characters and their story are well developed. I did feel like the ending was a little rushed, but that didn't keep me from smiling as I turned the final page. This is an excellent edition to any holiday romance TBR.
A little steamier than I like, I skipped over those parts. Otherwise, I really liked this book. I’m glad Gabe found his Christmas spirit, and he found love, too.
