The audiobook is 12 hours long, and the first 6 hours were so boring that I felt I could have skipped 2-3 hours without missing anything at all. However, the pace did pick up after the first 6 hours, so it turned out well in the end
This never developed the main character. He is incapable of carrying the story through most of the book. The hints of the overall plot are few and far between, and the overall introduction is too late. I never connected to the story and did not care about what was happening.
Giving this a 3☆ because why did we need to listen to the mc's daddy issues ugggg that was unnecessary. 😒 So basically a sister threw a temper tantrum and ruined the universe. A shut in with daddy issues GREAT hopefully his weaknesses don't bleed into the story to much. He gets turned into a tainted mutant how nasty plus what's the point of this the void is endless so just fight fight fight with no end i really don't see the point DNF
I like discovering new authors who can write. I’m happy to note this book is one of the good ones. A little melodramatic and some over the top introspection but a pretty good backstory and a good setup for an apocalyptic setting that looks to be multiversal.
A bit of bathos, poor orphan boy trying to reconnect with his father winds up in an apocalypse where one in ten survive, and the remaining nine turn into monsters.
Apart from some ham-handed dialogue infodumps, the universe is unique enough to be interesting once the horror starts.
It was a good book, I wish it were a little longer but I wish all good books were a little longer. I look forward to the next one. It has stats and a bit of crunch but not enough to make it the main part or over do it.
But, it definitely is intriguing. This is one of the harshest conceptions of a "system" I have read, which makes for an intriguing read. I'm ciertos to see where the story goes next!
I was so bored. I kept looking at the time on the audio book hoping it was close to being over. It just couldent catch my attention. Ill keep the second book in reserve if I ever just want some background noise.
This LitRPG takes place in a much darker world than a lot of the post apocalyptic LitRPGs that I have read. The way the MC evolves makes for some unique experiences. The game system was original and the story was entertaining. I’m interested to see where things go next.
