Fit For A Prince

Rate this book
The prince is dead.

Diaspro Onelle would have made an excellent princess, if her betrothed hadn’t died in front of her. On a fateful night in the kingdom of Ivalon, Diaspro’s entire world burns as the king of Aemastia destroys everything in sight. Before she can escape, she’s taken captive and locked away…until another fateful day arrives, and she’s summoned before the enemy king. Intrigued by Diaspro’s previous betrothal, King Septimus decides that any woman fit for Ivalon’s perfect prince must surely be suitable for one of his sons.

Diaspro is suddenly thrust out of her prison cell and into the role of prospective princess. With only a few months to charm a prince, Diaspro doesn’t have much hope that she can capture the heart of a man who already despises her. She would rather die than marry an Aemastian blue-blood, but that’s exactly what will happen if she can’t convince one of the three brothers to propose.

Dying is easy, but surviving long enough to enact revenge is the kind of challenge Diaspro can’t ignore. Marrying the enemy would allow her to save her people, but can she win a prince so soon after losing her own? She’ll have to tread carefully or else they might find out how she was chosen by royalty the first time...

Fit For A Prince is book one of a three part, no-spice, fantasy romance series, featuring a swoony must-choose romance, arranged marriage, prisoner to princess, and impossibly high-stakes.

The prince is dead.

Diaspro would have made an excellent princess, if her betrothed hadn’t died right in front of her. Now she’s a prisoner to the King of Aemastia. The only way to earn her freedom, is to play his twisted game. Diaspro must convince one of the King’s three sons - to marry her before the season ends, or she dies. There’s only one problem, the three princes want nothing to do with her and see her as a threat.

First of all- Love the cover!! 😍

Fit for a Prince opens with fast paced action and suspense, that makes you want to keep flipping the pages to see what happens next. I really had a great time reading this. I didn’t know who to trust, I didn’t even know if I trusted the FMC- She was most definitely hiding something that I just could not figure out and I’m usually super good at this!! The book felt like there were holes, but by the end, everything started coming together as the secrets were revealed. Mrs Manning definitely had me stumped. I didn’t like any of the Princes at first, but as the story progressed, each one began to let their guard down (some more than others 🙄) . I really hope we get to know them a bit more in the next installment, they did feel like their characters could have been fleshed out a bit more but … Holy cliffhanger- WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?! Was not expecting that 😱. I have no idea where this is headed, but I can not wait for the next book to find out! Clean read all around - Would recommend ❣️

WHAT DID I JUST READ?! *cue a thousand echoing gasps*

So, I’m usually pretty good at guessing plot twists, but once again, Miss Manning has blown my world into smithereens. I won’t elaborate, because it is cruel to spoil, but if you guess the story's ending early on, you have my eternal respect.

The pacing was slow, but fast…I was hooked by the mystery surrounding Diaspro and her country—I NEEDED to know Diaspro’s secrets and what made her the person she was.

Diaspro, our determined and fierce FMC, was quite the leading character. She’s not willing to take no for an answer and doesn’t believe in failure—for she has everything to lose. Her fighting skills are unmatched, and I’ll admit that I thought she was magical herself—a elf maiden warrior—but that wasn’t the grand secret at ALL 🤣 The only royal left of Ivalon, she’s made by the despicable King to court his sons—see what made Prince Damon, her former betrothed, want to marry her (when no one else was good enough). Prince Atlas, Lochlan, and Cedric are so different, yet so alike. They all long to uncover Diaspro’s secrets, but each has a different motive. I would root for one Prince, but then choose the other…I can’t wait to see which one she ends up with and how she’ll fight for her kinsmen.

If you love PLOT TWISTS, love triangle (but it’s kinda a rounded base love triangle with 3 men in the running), royal intrigue, dark fantasy vibes, fierce FMC, a despicable king, mysterious magic, you have to pick up this book!

OH MY GOD! THIS BOOK IS BRILLIANT!

If you want to read a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, pick this one!

You keep reading thinking you know what's going to happen, but you actually don't. The characters are layered and have so much depth that you feel for each one of them.

And that end...oof, Book 2 can't come fast enough.

Oh. My. Word.

Words cannot begin to even described what I am feeling after reading this book. Abigail Manning is a master of weaving a tale where you think you know where the plot is going, but then BOOM out of nowhere a plot twist! This plot twist will throws you in for a loop and have you questioning everything! I have never been more stumped about direction a series is heading towards! The plot is riveting and I was immediately pulled in! I kept reading until I was done. Definitely a bit darker of a tale but so good! Diaspro was a cunning and sassy heroine that would do whatever to save her fellow countrymen. There is one prince that I am rooting for. He is most likely not the popular choice but he fits the enemies to lovers character well. Even though Diaspro vexes him, I can see a hint of a soft side to this prince. If you love enemies to lovers and love triangles, highly recommend. Fit of a Prince is definitely worth the hype! I am eagerly waiting for the next book!

I volunteered to read an ARC copy of the book and all thoughts are my own.

I funded the kickstarter for Book 2 so I hope that the second book has an even twister tale than this.

Honestly, I loved it. All three princes were anti-Diaspro for a while. So I like that it was not simple to charm any of them. The slow 'charming' was precisely what I was looking for, and by the end of the book, I still am unsure over who likes or loves her.

The reason I did knock it down a star is that the world building was little to none. There is also magic but magic wasn't really present.

I have been looking forward to this book for a while, and once I started it, I couldn't stop. Now that it's finished, I can't stop thinking about it and wishing that the second book was out already.

Diaspro was a heroine to root for. I want her to survive and to secure her vengeance. I also want her to tell me more about her secrets- and I'm not the only one. The three princes she must woo also want to know what she's hiding. Concerning the princes, I have a clear favorite who I'm rooting for to win Diaspro's hand and a very clear LEAST favorite (and also one that I don't want anything bad to ever happen to- ever).

The court intrigue was practically a character of itself. And the plot twist that I tried unsuccessfully to guess the whole book blew my mind.

Note for more sensitive readers: this story discusses war crimes and extreme cruelty.

This is the perfect book for readers who love to choose which morally gray characters they want to root for and want to read fun tropes in a new way.

Soooo good! I both started and finished this book today. I was around 60% when I realized this wasn't going to all resolve by the end of the book, there wasn't enough time. That ending though! I didn't see that coming although looking back, the signs are there. I'm definitely going to need the next book!

ANOTHER FIVE STAR READ FROM ABIGAIL MANNING.

I am not surprised. I walked into this expecting it to be five stars and it did not disappoint. I really loved the FMC and all of the MMCs in this story (yes, even Lochlan!).

I was not surprised by the big reveal at the end of the book and was very pleased to see how it played out. It was very well done. I have my theories for book two and I cannot wait to see if I am right or wrong!! It is going to be so hard to wait for the next book to come out!

There were so many fun and exciting scene in here and the story is full of tension! I absolutely breezed through this story. I cannot recommend it enough for romantasy lovers.

Diaspro is such a bold, strong, intelligent woman. I loved her spunk, her cunning, and her wit.

Lochlan is definitely the moody brother. I actually really like him, I think there is so much more to him than we see. I wish he wasn't so aggressive sometimes, but I think we are going to find out some things about him in book 2!

Atlas is very mysterious. I have the feeling he will be all the girls favorite. I like him too, but my morally grey loving heart is still really intrigued by Loch. I also think we will find out more about Atlas in book two...but I will keep my theories about both twins to myself!

Cedric seems to be kinder and gentler than his two brothers. There were some cute moments between him and Diaspro...but i think she needs to be careful about who is nice to her...

Anyways, I know we are going to find out so much more about these three brothers and their father, who is clearly just a terrible to his own kingdom as he is to others.

I am going to be (not so patiently) anticipating book two to see what happens after that final scene!

I definitely recommend this story! I am positive it is going to be one of my top reads of the year!

I received an ARC from the author, all thoughts in this review are my own.

Fit For A Prince was a phenomenal read! From the very first page, the story drew me in and kept me turning pages.

Each character was interesting with their own plans and motivations. The plot and pacing were both excellent, and I found the world-building very interesting.

But I must say...that cliffhanger was pure evil. I need the next book 😆😭

I usually LOVE plot twists, and this one was a good one. But I hated that I didn’t know who or what she was for 99% of the book. And it seriously felt like I was just reading about an AI robot character, she had no feelings for anyone or anything, except, for perhaps, her servants. And for most of the book, it seemed like she was just waiting for the princes to give her their time. And even then, once she did, one of them, she spent no time with, and the other, she just watched him fight. And then the youngest prince, you basically get no emotional attachment because you aren’t a part of their discussions in the study. Which made the princes’ efforts in the end not make any sense. I was intrigued by Diaspro, but this was all plot and nothing else.

That being said, the plot was excellent. I have questions about this guardian from her kingdom and it makes me wander if he will be the true love interest since these other three were so lacking. I hope the next one is better.

Wow. Just wow.

I love this book. I finished it the same day that I got it.

The romance was really good. I don't normally like love triangles. At all. They just make me annoyed because I can really see the end coming and I don't like watching all of the teetering back and forth between two characters. But this was more than a love triangle. And I loved it. I still don't know whom I'm rooting for. And I don't know what the ending will be yet.

The characters are so good. I can truly tell the depth and realness to each one. They are all interesting and don't feel shallow. I love seeing the growth in each character.

That plot twist at the end was unexpected. Looking back, I can tell that all the clues were there. But even with all the clues, I completely didn't catch it until it happened. It was expertly done. And I can't say much more if I want to stay spoiler-free.

The contest feel of this book was fun. And I really liked the background of war in the story. It was really cool.

This was a very good book and I can't wait for the next one. I'm excited to see where this story goes!

I received an ARC copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Words have escaped me. WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!? The tension. The yearning. The frustration and fear! I swear my emotions were swirling with every page. I knew it was a series, but I was NOT expecting that cliffhanger. Well done, once again, to Abigail Manning. The girl knows how to write a dang good book!!!!

The mystery was so well-done. I didn’t catch on until the moment before the reveal. I was as clueless as the princes as to what was going on! Honestly, this was better executed than some of the thrillers I’ve read recently. & it’s not that genre, but man… does my brain feel like it’s still running a thousand miles a minute trying to put all the pieces together & take a second look at the clues!!

This book is for you if you’re into:
-Courting 3 Princes
-Steely Gazes
-Strong FMC’s
-Slow Slow Slow Burns
-Love at first Spite
-Clean/No Spice/Monogamous

I was lucky enough to receive a copy in advance, but you’ll be able to enjoy this book on August 1st!!

This book... oh man. I backed the Kickstarter for this book because I've been wanting to read some of Manning's work, and I'm glad I did. But let's start at the beginning.

POV: First person
POV Character(s): Diaspro Onelle
Verb Tense: Past
Trigger Warnings: imprisonment, captivity, torture by starvation, some assault
Spice: None

I backed this book sight unseen on Kickstarter, like I sometimes do, and I'm just going to be honest, this was such a fun, fast, delightfully surprising read. But also? I need book 2 like yesterday. I read the book in a grand total of two days because I just really, really wanted to know where it was going, which is always good.

Lady Diaspro Onelle is our POV character who we meet at the end of a battle that's destroying her kingdom. She's engaged to crown prince Damon, but he's already been killed in the fires raging through the castle, as have his parents, the King and Queen of Ivalon. Diaspro has decided she won't take anything lying down, however, and as a survivor, she's ready to try and escape the soldiers from the neighboring country who have invaded her home and destroyed everything she knows. Unfortunately, she's caught.

Taken by King Septimus back to his home in Aemastis, Diaspro finds herself in a dungeon with other Ivalonian captives. She's taken from the dungeon after practically starving to death into the king's palace where he gives her an ultimatum: prove you're worthy of a prince by convincing one of my sons to marry you or die. Diaspro is never one to take a challenge lying down and immediately begins her quest to woo the three princes of Aemastis, or at least to attempt said wooing as she's got no intentions of a happily ever after in this rival kingdom.

The premise of the book was a delight, but I was mostly intrigued by Diaspro herself. We got many of her internal thoughts, and it was those juxtaposed against what she told everyone that made me question if she was an actual truthful narrator or not. Her character was an interesting conundrum. She seemed uncomfortable in the pretty dresses she was given, had great empathy of her fellow Ivalonian slaves, and studied the princes for weaknesses to exploit through barbed words rather than flirtatious banter. I spent the majority of the book wondering what exactly was going on with her and wishing for more information to come about her background.

What I got was a last-minute reveal that threw me completely, and I was utterly delighted. I love it when an author can truly surprise me, and Manning did not disappoint with the reveal. (Also, she now has me wishing book two was in my greedy little hands so I can continue the story.)

Aside from Diaspro, I loved most of the characters. Her few Ivalonian servants were a delight, especially Beckham with his little magic necklace that had healing powers. I loved that Diaspro became a symbol of resistance among the Ivalonian servants in the palace, just as the mysterious Guardian had done outside the palace. I loved the three princes, twins Lochlan and Atlas and younger brother Cedric. They each had interesting personalities, and though I'm fairly certain which prince is going to be endgame for Diaspro, I have to admit there's potential for all three, which is rather nice.

I'm not going to call this a romantasy. It felt more like a prequel to a romantasy. It sets us up to crave more in the reveals I'm sure will come in the sequel(s), and it gives us this glimpse into a world where Diaspro comes from a country where magic still lives but remains locked away in stones that reside in a Vault. The dead king took the Vault's location to his grave, and even Diaspro, despite her closeness to the prince, doesn't know much about the Vault. Meanwhile the princes of Aemastis are neck-deep in military plans and plots to try to discover this Vault as Aemastis has a dearth of magic and King Septimus desperately wants to find the source of magic and claim it as his own.

Overall, I really quite enjoyed this story and will happily buy the sequel when it comes out. I loved Diaspro and the reveal at the end because I was beginning to think there would be no grand reveal and instead there would be a race to escape the cruel king. But just my luck, the surprise was definitely there for me. It's rare I get so surprised these days since there are only so many ways a story will go, but I did and I loved it.

This is a lovely intro to a series, and I'll await the next one with bated breath.

{Romantasy; MMMF?; clean romance so far}

⁃ First in a series
⁃ Plot twist at the end

The book started well. I love the idea of a woman pursued by several men, as long as only one succeeds. I am not a fan of Reverse Harem/Why Choose. In this version, her kingdom was overrun, and she was...not killed. Instead, the invading king decided to use her to demonstrate he claimed the ultimate revenge. It’s petty. It’s Trump. But who can argue against life?

Diaspro is an interesting name, so I quickly googled it. Apparently, there is a Diaspro, who is a spoiled and arrogant fairy. In a way, the two characters match. Diaspro was upperclass and was obviously mentally browbeaten by her own king to become a fantastically-skilled assassin and spy. Naturally, her own self-worth was high.

The king declared she must woo his three sons, in a reversal of this trope. If one chose her, she could live. I don’t know if I would take that deal, since she would be tied to her enemy for life (which might only last hours into the wedding bed).
⁃ Atlas: middle son, quiet, competent, and the one she thinks is tolerable
⁃ Cedric: youngest son, likeable, bookish, and most-likely-to-pop-the-question
⁃ Lochlan: oldest, bitter, angry, and will shoot his own foot if it will hurt her, too.

But there were too many logical questions on my part to truly enjoy the story. At least one was answered by the plot twist, but there were more:

⁃ Why would the king require her to beg for marriage? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the king to require his 3 sons marry and place her as a candidate? Then he would get an heir.
⁃ How does she think she has any choice? She spent enormous brain power on making a choice when only a tiny amount of time was spent in their company. And she was too cold and calculating.
⁃ How can two of the princes fall in love if they barely interact with her?

I enjoyed the clever parts of the story and finished the novel. I think Abigail Manning’s writing is designed for quick summer reading. You can enjoy the story without being bogged down with the language.
Do I want to continue? No. I am not fond of Diaspro’s character and don’t want to live in her head.

I’ve read all of Abigail’s books—and still I am left in awe every new book. She is truly a wonderful writer and I love how she never falls into the trap of overused tropes of the writing work nowadays—YA and otherwise. That makes her characters fresh and original.

Fit for a Prince was no exception—Diaspro is a political prisoner and pawn (much of her life you can say), and she has no qualms of making difficult decisions to survive and help her fallen kingdom and its citizens. She is a morally grey heroine (leaning towards good). Now this is where I was expecting a typical heroine who has determination but is pathetically naive and incapable of controlling her emotions and just being rude and unlikeable but calling it sass and cleverness. But thank goodness she was the opposite of this.

She knew the risks and dangers and played her cards accordingly. She didn’t give up control, kept her dignity and still played by the rules and understood her actions had consequences which couldn’t be reversed. And she still made her voice heard. It was good. I can’t wait to see more.

The three royal brothers aka Diaspro’s last chances—no matter how each one is portrayed, I am not trusting each of them yet or judging them truly. Abigail is a master writer and even besides that, it’s clear that they are not what they seemed in this book—especially towards Diaspro. So I’ll withhold any judgement. (But obviously I am so curious!!!)

Anyway—it ends on a cliffhanger and can’t wait for the next one!!

Is it possible to give a book more than five stars? I had every intention of just reading a few chapters of this whilst eating my breakfast. I did NOT intend to read the thing in practically one sitting, but I couldn’t put it down.

Manning is a “master of surprise.” This title is not be confused with the similar-sounding old movie title “Master of Disguise,” though I suppose she does disguise her true purpose, so maybe it’s apt. The plot twist in this blew my mind. There is nothing quite like such a jaw-dropping moment when you have been completely blindsided, in a good and suddenly very believable way. If there has been a book I wish I could read for the first time again, it would be Fit For a Prince, just so I could experience that thrill again.

Violence: fighting, some glimpses of war. A burning building. A character presumably dies, though it’s inferred and we don’t see it.

Romance: clean, not so much as a kiss, though it’s not needed and would actually feel rushed. My one complaint would be that this definitely has love triangle vibes. On the other hand, without the plot being what it is, it wouldn’t have been nearly so impressive and able to keep my on the edge of my seat THE ENTIRE BOOK.

I did receive an early copy from the author, but my this review is entirely my own thoughts and opinions.

Okay but five stars?? Really?? Why do we have to be so limited when books as diabolically brilliant as Fit For A Prince exist?
This is Abigail Manning's first book that isn't some kind of retelling, and I am chomping at the bit for more originals! As usual the twists had my brain in knots and the suspense, drama and banter were total perfection! The king was the evillest character I have ever had the misfortune to meet and his sons were infuriating and intriguing. Lochlan had me wanting to step into the book and murder him myself, Atlas stole my heart and Cedric is the older brother I never knew I wanted! There were so many close calls in this book where I had to keep reminding myself that as the FMC Diaspro couldn't die - cause she certainly danced on the edge of death a lot! And the end answers a lot of questions but adds more, so I cannot wait for book 2! Oh and before I forget - the descriptions of the battle scenes were absolute FIRE! I felt like I was in the arena watching Diaspro duel with her opponents in the biting cold! Somehow Abigail makes me forget I'm reading and actually gets me to experience every moment with her characters! She's magic!
If you haven't read this book yet. go pick it up now cause it will make your brain BURN and you will love every second of it!!

You know it’s a good book when you panic halfway through and realize you never checked to see if the next one’s out and waiting just isn’t an option. And I hadn’t even reached the cliffhanger ending!

This is a fast paced, immersive Romantasy. (And clean unlike so many others in the genre.) There’s not much romance in this book, but the tension kept me on the edge of my seat.

I loved Diaspro as a character. She was the perfect tough girl who had emotion and love for the people around her. At no point did I find her inhuman unlike so many other strong female protagonists these days.

The three princes kept me guessing. Lochlan, Atlas, and Cedric are all unique. I loved the contrasts between them. I’m excited for them to be more developed in the next book.

I am pulling my hair out about that ending! Why are you doing this to us, Abigail?! I need the next book!

The tension, mystery, and immersive POV pulled me in immediately. I wish there was a bit more explaining though. I was left a tiny bit confused at the end. I believe she’ll clear it up in the next book, so I’m waiting to judge.

There was no bad language and the violence wasn’t gory or glorified. No kisses (yet) and no SA.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Romantasy but wants something cleaner.

The perfect, angsty, no-spice "must choose" book!

I fully believe that there is no trope that Abigail Manning can't twist into a superb book that will stay no spice and will undoubtedly feature outstanding banter, an incredible plot twist, and a book hangover that will last days, if not weeks!

Fit for A Prince was no different!

I loved how tough Diaspro waist the face of insurmountable odds, and she didn't allow herself to be ordered around, even when it was dangerous to speak her mid. But even with all her toughness, she was still kind and protective of her people and those who attended her.

The whole dynamic with the "must choose" between the three princes was absolutely superb! I think I changed my mind half a dozen times about which prince she should end up with, and now I'm DYING for book 2 so I can see if I'm right!

I can never review one of Abigail's books without mentioning her beautiful prose. I always feel like I'm RIGHT IN the world she's built, like I can smell/ feel/ see/ hear exactly what the character is experiencing. And just like all the other of her books I read, the plot twist punched me in the face in the best of ways. I'm still reeling over it and can't wait to dive into book 2!!!!

HIGHLY recommend! I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

I can’t believe what I just read, this was absolutely phenomenal and I wish I had the next book! The twists and turns that this book takes, I have to say this might be my new favorite series!

With the loss of her kingdom, she is kidnapped and taken as a prisoner of war. Diaspro has always fought to prove herself, becoming a fighter, a math genius, and to never give up. If being starved in a prison cell wasn’t enough, she was given the opportunity to live as long as she married one of her enemies three sons. With so many mysteries that surround her, there’s so much more to Diaspro than anyone knows, which intrigue her suitors.

I’m curious to find out which of the three she chooses and how this story will play out. Abagail Manning has a way of shaping a story masterfully that you won’t predict what happens. When it does, it surprises you, just as much as the ending! I’m so eager to know what will happen!

There is art work in the stories that was absolutely incredible, it depicts the characters and story accurately to how I thought it would look like. I hope there will be more of the artwork in the future.

This ARC copy was given for my honest opinion, thank you so much for this opportunity!

There are very few plot twists that have caught me so off guard as the one in this book. It was AMAZING. Like many of the best plot twists, it's a mystery with cryptic hints dropped here and there up until the grand reveal, but looking back you feel like it was so obvious, hidden in plain sight.

As for the romantic aspect of the story, I have mixed feelings. The general personalities of the three MCs were what I expected, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. I still liked them even though I was hoping for something a little more unique. You never know, though. Maybe they'll still surprise me. I have a guess about who Diaspro will choose.

Compelling intrigue and powerful characters

Intelligently written. Wonderful pacing. I usually go for fluff romances…. Yes they’re predictable, but they’re fun. This is not that. This is thoughtful storytelling that bonds you to the characters And keeps you wondering what their truth is.

Is there promise of romance in this book? Yes. But is that what keeps me in the story? No. And I don’t even care… because what the author serves is so good.

Truthfully, the romance is second to the real lure of these books… or it is in this first book…. And for someone who usually requires a strong romance line to maintain interest, it says a lot that the way this book is crafted kept me glued and compelled me to continue without any desire to put the book down. Well done. Truly.

The characters are all powerfully written and their motivations are a mystery that keeps you turning the page so you can learn more. Who are they really? What are they hiding? Who will survive the cruel manipulations of the palace?

I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Amazing! So, I went into reading this book already expecting some type of twist, but I didn’t know to what extent. Abigail has such a great way of writing a story that convinces the readers of one thing and then throws a curveball somewhere near the end. And, after finishing the story, the reader has to just contemplate for a little bit. That definitely happened in this story!

While the story starts with the destruction of one kingdom, it takes place mostly in another kingdom. The dead prince left a fiancée, Diaspro, who was captured by her enemies. She was given a choice to live, only if she could convince one of the king’s sons to marry her. Diaspro fights for her life as she uses her brain to figure out ways to work on the princes. So many questions were answered, and yet, so many more are still to be uncovered. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I received this as an ARC book; however, the thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

I'd rate this book 6 stars if I could. This book has been my most anticipated release of all of 2025, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It delivered on or exceeded all of my expectations, and the plot twist and ending literally made my jaw drop and had me gasping.

I loved that Diaspro was a damsel in distress while also doing everything possible to save herself. She's clever, determined, compassionate, willing to stand up for herself and others, but also cautious and very secretive. She's a very well-rounded character!

I love all the princes, too. I love their banter and dynamics with each other, as well as their individual dynamics with Diaspro. The banter between them had me giggling so much!

I'm so excited for the rest of this series! And I can guarantee that I will be regularly rereading Fit For A Prince in the meantime!

Fit For a Prince by Abigail Manning
🤴A race against time
🤴Treading carefully
🤴Capturing a heart
🤴A dead prince
🤴No romance, yet (no spice)
Genre: Fantasy romance
On a fateful night in the kingdom of Ivalon, Diaspro’s entire world burns as the king of Aemastia destroys everything in sight...
Whoa, that ending! This one isn't quite as whimsical or cute as the other books I've read from this author, but even with the more serious tone I quite enjoyed it! I definitely didn't see that ending coming, but logistically it left me with a lot of questions. Went back to read bits again, and its really quite well done! And the must-choose romance is fun too, I'm still weighing my options. Book 2 better be coming soon!
Book 1 in the Fit for a Crown series
Opening line: "He’s dead. The prince is dead. But there was no time to mourn."

So Many Secrets!

I normally HATE love triangles, and this book is really a love square! After her kingdom is conquered and her fiancé, Prince Damon, is killed, Diaspro is imprisoned for several weeks before King Septimus gives her an opportunity. She has one season to show his three sons why their enemy had chosen her and get a proposal from one of them. If she succeeds, she still gets to marry a prince. If she fails, she’ll be executed.

This love square definitely leaves you guessing on who will be right for Diaspro. I wanted more romance, but the politics and the myriad of secrets kept me turning pages desperate to know what would happen next. I can’t wait to see what happens in book two!

Content: clean (mild violence-war, duels, no language)
