About the author

Kristin is the proud Mum behind the Hendrix and Rocket series. Inspired by her beloved Weimaraner's, Kristin wants to help young readers discover and fall in love with this beautiful breed. Kristin calls the southernmost part of Australia, Tasmania, her home. Here she balances her time between writing, running her own consultancy and raising two human children. When she's not driving around Hobart with her two noisy woofer's, she wages a losing battle with her husband's ever growing guitar collection, adding a touch of music to their household chaos.

A charming picture book about a Weimaraner pup named Hendrix, his big brother Rocket and learning to be brave.

Hendrix has never slept anywhere other than with his human mum and dad at night. When mum tells him to go to the office with Rocket, one night, because he’s big enough, Hendrix is scared!

This story is about how Hendrix gets help from Rocket and learns to help someone else that he loves when a night turns dark and rainy.

Hendrix and Rocket had a big day - wrestling, chicken-watching, and supervising Dad’s lunch (a very important job). But when bedtime rolled around, Hendrix faced his biggest challenge yet: sleeping without Mum and Dad! Hendrix learned that bravery isn’t about never being scared - it’s about showing up for those who need you, even when the rain is pouring and your own paws feel a little shaky. This is a sweet story with an important message for little people to hear: it's okay to be scared sometimes. Hendrix fears sleeping without Mum and Dad. He doesn't realize that being brave is not about never feeling scared at all. Bravery is about feeling scared sometimes, but overcoming it, especially if it means showing up for others like Hendrix does for his human brother. It is only then that Hendrix realizes his own strength, which had been tucked away and was only revealed when someone else needed him.

Hendrix and Rocket: Being Brave is a sweet story about two Weimaraner canines that live with their loving family. Hendrix is the younger of the two. When told that he must now sleep in Dad's study with Rocket, because he's no longer a pup, he becomes scared. To top it off, his first night not sleeping in the safety of his Mum and Dad's room, is a rainy one. Hendrix wishes he could be as brave as Rocket. That night he realizes he can be by helping his little 'boy' brother brave the dark, rainy night. Young readers will enjoy this story of courage and its playful illustrations.

Lovely tale of growing up. Hendrix’s ‘dad’ tells him that he is not a puppy anymore and he has to do things that big dogs do. What makes it worse is that it is raining outside. What happened that night? Cute tale and lovely illustrations of Hendrix the Brave. (I am sure Mickey will get his guitar.)

Hendrix and Rocket Being Brave is a great story to help reinforce children to be brave. Sometimes the best way to learn bravery is by helping someone else who is scared. This lovely adventure with our favorite Weimaraner pups gently shows how bravery can be shown in the little things we do to help others. The illustrations are adorable, and they bring Haynes's story to life.

What a great SEL picture book that addresses fear and helps little readers gain self-confidence. Hendrix is afraid of the dark, and like many children, he wants to stay in Mom and Dad's room. With the help of his brother Rocket, he not only conquers his fear but also helps his human brother conquer his fear, too.
