Life doesn't come with guaranteed second chances, so when you get them...Peter Busch-McGinley is a self-employed handyman in Max City. For the last eight years, life has been a downward spiral of loneliness and self loathing. But that's about to change...
Peter's second chance comes at the cost of his very last family member. Grandpa Joe passed away, leaving him a farm in Mineral Village. Although Pete is filled with regret about missing his grandfather's end, he decides to accept his inheritance and start a new life in the village where he spent every summer as a child. But things aren't what they seem.
Pete is soon approached by the patron deity of the Fertile Valley and Mineral Village—the self-described Harvest Goddess. She reveals his destiny as her chosen one, the man who will save Fertile Valley by marrying its available women. As shocking as that is, the real surprise comes from his childhood friend, Queenie.
They have a daughter.
Can Pete navigate his new destiny alongside his new role as a parent? Can he become the kind of person his grandfather would be proud of? Or will the Queen of the Mines figure out how to corrupt him?
I want to state up front that I am a huge fan when these two authors collaborate. The Master Class series is sublime. Which is why I was shocked and dismayed by how much this book's MC and premise put me off.
The MC is a person with a sex addiction he does pretty much nothing to control. He's left a tsunami of broken marriages in his rear view from all the times he's had a housewife cheat with him. This paints him as exceptionally weak, and not the kind of MC I can get behind. By page 10 I was already massively apathetic to the MC. I'm really not into a serial loser having some change of scenery and suddenly they have a loving harem falling in their laps.
I'm going to skip this series, and wait for the next installment of Master Class to come out.
Wasn't my kind of book. Mc was unlikeable to the point of unreadable. I like fantasy, but this was point less. The Mc is supposed to be have sex addiction. Well the author tries to prove it.The story is not interesting, but if you like inerdialog of a supposed sex addiction this is your story. I worked to read the book. After finishing it,I was hoping it would have a good point. Nope didn't.
Neither of these authors has ever had a kid withheld from them. I genuinely am so disappointed because I adore both of these authors and respect them.
When one of the big issues in your story is a child that was hidden from a man for 8 years, I feel like it better be handled with more care than I felt was given to it in this book. Probably not the best genre to have such an issue in, but if one could do it well and give the characters plausible reactions... Then fine. This isn't what happened here. The whole situation basically gets swept under the rug. There's no real anger at all and what little there is, is there and gone so fast it's like having whiplash. It's completely unbelievable from a human behavior standpoint.
I think this series isn't for me. I'll see if I can let it go in the next book, but we'll see.
This was a wonderful story. Definitely slice of life and easy to read, but there's a depth to the characters and their relationships that goes beyond that simplicity. I have to say, I really enjoyed this book and recommend giving it a read. There are some RPG elements in there, but they are really not intrusive and blend with the story pretty well. The quests that Pete gets are hilarious and it was great to see him trying to fulfill them for the Goddess. The elves and their songs though! Those were perfect and made me laugh. I think the relationship between Pete and Kylie Ann is one of the best parts of the book and I hope to see more of their growth along with the rest of the valley in the next one!
2.5/5 I enjoy LitRPG and am very fond of farming sims like Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Stardew Valley. I am also an unapologetic consumer of smut. So I honestly hoped I’d get more out of this. The first few chapters were good before the plot got too thirsty.
Pete’s quest is less about rebuilding the farm and community than it is about fucking every woman in town. He also has to continuously please all of the harvest fairies and pixies at one point using a “Tinkerbell” statured woman as a fleshlight. I figured since it was harem game lit that it would turn out this way I just thought I’d enjoy it more. Ah well.
This is one of those books that causes the reader to actually hope for a second. Book 1 introduced the main characters and set up the storyline. As a standalone work it was good enough to be complete. However, it left many questions unanswered, hence the need for book 2. The quality of writing leads me to hope that the story will continue with additional volumes. I want to thank the authors for providing me with an enjoyable reading experience
Pete has nothing left in the big city, so he returns to the place where he had always felt good and alive, on his grandfather's farm. The quest is to save the valley and the village from fading away, and perhaps ease tensions between the Harvest elves and the Dark elves. Above average editing. Will buy book 2.
4.5 stars; better than I expected, particularly with the characters. A lot of emphasis on multiple characters, and aside from the slutty elves there was good depth to the MC and his various relationships.
This one is rated on a curve, as, let's face it, we know what we're getting into here. The sex stuff didn't overwhelm the story though, and the random elf booty-calls were pretty amusing. We'll see if book 2 can keep things rolling.
First off, I'll preface with saying childhood love/friends reuniting always makes me cry happy tears. But honestly, I did that many times throughout this book (especially the last chapter, no spoilers 😉) this book was a very lovely wholesome ride for most of it and I look forward to the next book!
This was a heartwarming story, that made me smile. Good character development, the MC embraced everything he selfishly ran from. Reconnecting with the woman who had his little girl and falling in love with her. Now he takes on the quest for the Goddess of Fertile Valley and all the responsibility that that entails. I'm looking forward to book two.
Never have a seen such a great fusion of cute, wholesome, sexy and raunchy. I honestly can't get enough of stories where the mc already has a child and they get back together with the mother. I just love watching badass MCs being dads.
I really enjoyed this story. It reads so easily that I finished it in a day. The characters were fun to read and I got to care about. I highly recommend you get this book.
Loved the tale of Pete arriving at the Fertile Valley. Love the fantasy. Love the humor. Great steamy scenes. Eagerly looking forward to more of the story in future books.
Story begins somewhat strange with the initial location but as the story continues it is explained. I personally look forward to the follow along story and the adventures of Pete and family, love journeys in his quest.
The author has down a masterful job. Good premise. A solid hook to draw the reader in. It is well written and edited. I love the characters and eagerly await sequels. Here is to hoping they arrive soon.
I enjoyed this story because of the characters. Each one a slight variation of standard tropes but enough to make them work well together and enjoy our time with them.
The characters are amazing. They are so human in their flaws and so capable of being more than what the eye sees. The characters are very relatable because of their flaws that we can see ourselves in. Very strong writing.
Great light story with lots of twists and turns. It willl be interesting to see how everything progresses unlike cough cough First Quest.... Cough cough 🤣
