0 Five Minute Somatic Exercises

The beauty of this book is the presentation and format are easy to follow. The author emphasizes throughout that these can be done anywhere, anytime and does not require any specialized equipment.

The beauty of somatic exercises, which appears to be a form of yoga, is the goal to not only enhance body awareness, posture, balance, coordination, while instilling an overall sense of well-being. The author reminds us. It’s more about how it feels as opposed to how it looks. In performing these slow and deliberate movements we learn to better understand and regulate our body awareness.

The three basic components of somatic exercise exercises include breath, work, gentle movement, and mindfulness. All of this is defined within the book.Several easy to follow five minute routines are included throughout.

Wow!

Normally, I expect these books to be lacking on being very informative, but with this one the author has given me a lot to ponder and great tips to help with different aspects of my anxiety. I suffer from some childhood ptsd, and my brain is stuck in flight or fight mode constantly. I hope as I use this book and work on taking the time for me to work through the material I will find some peace in my head.

This was a great little book to pick up exercise tips for people that sit at a desk all day like I do. It shows you things you can do while you are literally at work to relieve pain and stress and I’ve actually been trying them out at work and no one has even noticed! Back, neck and shoulder pain has been relieved.
