Luke turns back to me, giving me a quick, teasing once-over. “You’re sweaty.”
“Yeah, I burned some calories.”
He smirks, his hand brushing up and down my waist. “Would you like to burn some more?”
I laugh, shoving him playfully. “Oh, please.”

Julie’s life is finally falling into place. She’s found Luke—a man who makes her laugh, refreshes her, and makes her believe that she deserve everything better. But, just when she’s beginning to believe in love again…
The universe must truly hate me.
It’s like every time I find joy, Ryan’s always there to ruin it.
“You both will pay,” he says. “You’ve started a war with me.” Julie doesn’t flinch. “You think you can win a war against me? Well, game on, Ryan.”
She wants a divorce and let Ryan get out of her house with his mistress and their baby!
Wait, is the baby even Ryan’s?

Julie stands strong, determined to put her past behind her, but Luke reveals a secret that shakes her to the core.
“It’s… the fifth anniversary of my son’s death.” I freeze. Luke had a son. And he died.
Book two picks up right where the first left off—but not before a lengthy recap. Since I had just finished book one, the recap felt a bit too long and identical to the final chapters I had just read. That said, once the new content kicked in, I was right back in the thick of it.
This book had me fully invested in the budding romance between Luke and Julie. I loved that we got to see both of their perspectives—learning more about the mystery behind Luke’s guarded heart while watching Julie finally step into her strength and find her voice after all she’s been through.
The storyline stayed engaging, and I found myself reading late into the night—literally until I couldn’t keep my eyes open. The emotional pull was still strong, and the characters just as compelling. This one ends with quite a few surprises!
By the time I reached the ending, I didn’t hesitate. I was already flipping pages in book three!
Only disappointment was finding the first six chapters of book two and thress were the last six chapters of book one and two. This could have been just two books instead of three. Otherwise the story was good. You dislike Ryan at first and fully root for Julie. But in the end see his growth is just as good as seeing the romance of Luke and Julie.
I didn’t have high expectations for this given it flew onto my radar in one of those facebook smut ads, however since I started it and stand firm on dnf’s, I ended up INHALING it in 2 days. I’m not sure whether it was because it was actually good or me being stuck in a hotel room OR Luke just sounding like an absolute dream but I couldn’t get enough of it at the time.
I enjoyed the buildup to the characters getting intimate. It did get a little bit off track I feel towards the end with the attempted murder and then kidnapping? Like probably could have excluded those plot lines all together and wrapped up earlier.
At points I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to just giving up on the book altogether if I had to read the phrase “turn on my heel” one more time, but for how I came across it - it was a decent read.
