An alien diplomat on a mission to Earth shares in a candid account the lessons learned over a life and career spanning millennia. The pages of this travel journal provide readers with food for thought as the envoy reveals ancient mysteries, extols the virtue of freedom, expounds on universal truths and imparts wisdom. The often prosaic nature of these musings reflects the basic motivations that drive all sentient beings.
• Still sprightly 3,500-year-old alien. • Officer in the Galactic Alliance’s diplomatic corps. • Occasional visitor to Earth on professional assignments. • Informal code name: “The Singularity.” • Notorious for spilling the beans to random strangers. • References unavailable upon request.
I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway. It started with a fair amount of backstory, which is ok but felt excessive for such a short novel. By page 25 I was getting ready to quit but decided to soldier on since I got it for free. Still no real activity by page 40, roughly 1/4 of the way through the book, despite some lead up several pages earlier. The premise of the book seems interesting enough, but the delivery just didn’t do it for me.
