Isabella Delacroix's expertise in art authentication helps wealthy clients build perfect collections through Devereux Private Bank. But when she discovers shipping manifests that don't add up, she turns to the bank's maddeningly uptight chief counsel, Colton Moreau, for help.
When their investigation reveals a trafficking ring hidden behind art acquisitions, Isabella and Colton must decide if exposing the truth is worth destroying everything they've built. But before they can act, Isabella is taken—and Colton must use every skill he's gained to find her before she becomes just another statistic.
As they fight to bring down the trafficking ring, Isabella and Colton discover that real love isn't about being perfect—it's about being perfectly imperfect together. Even as they prepare to burn the bank's carefully crafted world to the ground, they find something unexpected rising from the hope.
Thank you so much to Rachel Avery for the opportunity to read and review this book!!
Silence and Surrender is a standalone dark contemporary romance and book three of the Steele Enterprises series. Colton works for the rich elite of Europe. He’s used to art acquisitions and possibly questionable transactions. But when he finds impossibilities in his paperwork, he needs to work with his art expert Isabella to figure out exactly what’s going on
This was a good addition to this series. I enjoyed Colton and Isabella’s story. This book expanded on the world building started in previous books and I enjoyed the new story with cameos from previous characters. This book had some tropes that aren’t my personal favorite, but overall it was a good story
Overall this was a solid 4 star read. While I enjoyed the story and the characters, I would have enjoyed seeing their relationship develop outside of the tropes I struggle with. But that’s absolutely a “me” issue and not a book issue. This book does have some darker elements so please check triggers if you’re sensitive. This book does have spicy moments throughout, so overall three flames for spice
If you’re a fan of strong women, possessive men, and a dash of dark romance danger, then absolutely pick this one up!! Even though this can be read as a standalone, you’ll get the most enjoyment out of the characters and story if you read them in order.
Thank you so much to Rachel Avery for the ARC copy of this book!
I really enjoyed Colton's story. He had a lot of development between the last book (Temptation and Tyranny) and this book. It was enjoyable to watch him interact with the other characters that we've grown to love (Steel, Ashlyn, Cooper and Allegra) and I enjoyed seeing the HEAs continued for the other characters.
There are some darker themes in this book, and I feel like it's a bit darker than the other books, but necessary for the story and the growth of Colton.
Spoiler alert:
This has a surprise pregnancy trope, so if that isn't your cup of tea, you'll want to pass. I personally enjoy it, but not everyone does. This one was handled well and was an integral part of the story and the journey to heal, but know that it is there.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was a five star book for me.
Silence and Surrender is book 3 in the Steele Enterprises series. Not surprisingly, it follows Colton, Cooper's twin, from book 2. Colton and Isabella work for the same bank as a lawyer and an art expert, but from page one, they are both aware that the bank is not doing everything legally. They don't especially like each other, but work together to solve the mystery. As the two of them uncover secrets, they also fall in love. This book is an enjoyable spicy romance. You get to see a lot of Steele and Cooper from the previous books, and Colton gets his HEA. We are also introduced to a new character for book 4. There are some intense parts, so check those trigger warnings, then sit back and enjoy. My only small complaint is some repetitive language and a trope I just don't like, but that is personal preference. The story is solid. 5 stars!
I loved this book! It is an amazing completion of the trilogy. I am not going to spoil anything! It has intrigue, romance, and so much more. Make sure to clear your schedule! Thanks Rachel for once again upping your game and surprising even me!
I did receive and ARC but, I would buy anything she writes!
This had everything that I love about dark romance...mystery, organized crime, a possessive MMC, and even a little bit of trauma. Isabella's and Colton's relationship was EVERYTHING in this book. Absolutely shattering and beautiful. When Colton and Isabella find out the baby is Colton's, I legit cried even though I knew it had to be his. This was a really deep journey and I loved every second.
