Suzanne lives in Middlesex, England with her husband, two children, a crazy cocker spaniel and a rather aloof cat.

Her writing journey began at the age of twelve when she completed her first novel. She discovered the fantasy genre in her late teens and has never looked back. Giving up work to raise a family gave Suzanne the impetus to take her attempts at novel writing beyond the first draft, and she is lucky enough to have a husband who supports her dream - even if he does occasionally hint that she might think about getting a proper job one day.

Now an author of four fantasy novels and three short story collections, Suzanne hopes the dreaded ‘W’ word will never rear its ugly head again!

She loves gardening and has a Hebe (shrub) fetish. She enjoys cooking with ingredients from the garden and regularly feeds unsuspecting guests vegetable-based cakes.

Suzanne collects books, is interested in history and enjoys wandering around castles and old ruins whilst being immersed in the past. She loves to escape with a great film, binge watch TV shows, or soak in a hot bubble bath with an ice cream and a book.

In a Nutshell: A sweet collection of holiday short stories. Covering varied characters and emotions. Utterly feel-good and perfect for the festive season. Recommended.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This collection contains eight short stories. As the title promises, each of them contains “a little Christmas magic”. The word ‘magic’ is used in both its interpretations: figurative and actual. Goodreads shows this book to be a part of the Winter Warmers series, but the series comprises short story collections that are independent of each other and hence can be read in any order.
As feel-good stories set during the Christmas season, the tales are obviously heartwarming. You might even assume that these are predictable, and many of them are. BUT this genre is anyway not meant to be twisty. AND there are a few stories that offer unexpected surprises, so it’s not as guessable as you think.
The stories covers various narrators: male and female, young and old. They are written in first-person and third-person POVs. Moreover, each story has a distinct situation even if the whole set takes place around Christmas time. As such, there is no feeling of déjà vu while reading this book.
I usually am a Grinch when it comes to Hallmark-kind of stories, though I used to enjoy them back in the day. As such, it came as quite a surprise to me that I enjoyed almost every story in this collection. Honestly, the author should feel proud of this. Making this grump happy with a set of Christmas cozies isn't an easy task.
The only thing that I think would have enhanced this book further is some kind of an introduction or foreword. I am a regular reader of story collections/anthologies, and always look forward to hearing the author’s thoughts on the theme or the intended direction of the collection. It helps in setting the right expectations from the tales.
As always, I rated the stories individually. Of the eight stories, only one received less than 3 stars, and that too was mainly because I am not fond of alcoholic protagonists. The rest of the stories were all at 3.5 stars and above, with three stories reaching 4.5+ stars. A highly satisfying performance. These are my top favourites:
🎄 Poppy's Christmas Wish: Seven-year-old Poppy has a Christmas wish, but her mother is worried that it might not come true. Sweet, straightforward and heartwarming. "Christmas would be nothing without kids" - 100% agree. - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 💫
🎄 Last-Minute Dash: A really short, utterly predictable, and absolutely sweet Christmas story. This is what Christmas is about, not expensive gifts and grandiose decorations and larger-than-life lighting. Narrated in first-person from a young mother's point of view, which makes her feelings even more touching. - ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
🎄 A Christmas Toast: Oh this was so beautiful! The start was gorgeous; the end, stupendous. Loved its narrative perspective. - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🎄 Taking Care of Belle: I don’t know what I expected from a story with such a title, but I certainly didn’t expect this. Heartwarming all the way. - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🎧 The Audiobook Experience:
The audiobook, clocking at a little more than 2 hours, is read by Colette Davies-Kerwin. The narrative time for the individual stories ranges from 5 minutes to 37 minutes.
I usually don’t prefer listening to short-story collections as these often contain twisty elements that work better for me while actually reading. However, as this was a set of uplifting Christmas stories, I went for the audio version and had no problem comprehending the narratives.
Unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about the narration. To be clear, the narrator reads fairly well, and barring a couple of characters, she voices the rest with enough variations in the tone and accent. However, having only one narrator for the whole set feels a little awkward, especially as a couple of the tales have male perspectives that don’t sound ‘manly” enough. My biggest issue is that the narrator’s voice is utterly sweet and grandmotherly and calming, which would be outstanding for a children’s bedtime story, but felt like a lullaby to me. (In my defence, it's turning out to be a busy Christmas season, so my tiredness succumbed even more to her restful voice.) She was also a bit too soft; I had to keep my earphones at full volume and warn my kids not to make too much noise in the background so that I could understand what was being narrated. Again, she isn't a bad narrator, but perhaps not best suited to this book. I hope others feel differently.
All in all, this has been a wonderful collection. It offers the right dose of Christmas spirit in a year where most of our spirits have been suffocated by the happenings in the world.
Much recommended to anyone looking for a touching set of stories filled with the *magic* of Christmas. Readers of women’s fiction and cozy romances will also enjoy this set of festive stories.
3.8 stars, based on the average of my ratings for each story. (If you are familiar with my ratings, you know that an average coming close to 4 stars is wonderful for an anthology.)
My thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and author Suzanne Rogerson for a complimentary audio copy of 'A Little Christmas Magic'. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.
The digital version of this book is currently available on Kindle Unlimited.
This was the most adorable collection if short stories!
If you're looking for feel good, sweet and cozy stories that will warm your heart and get you in the festive mood, look no further!
This is a short audiobook at just under 2 and a half hours, so it was a perfect afternoon listen on a wet and rainy day. The narrator was fantastic. Colette Davies-Kerwin was a new narrator for me, but she had a lovely engaging voice, perfectly suited to the stories she describes.
I enjoyed this anthology of short stories. They range in length and topic. The main theme seems to be kindness. There are stories of strangers coming to someone's aid, friends reconnecting, remembering your youth, trying something new, and even a little romance. I thought each story was emotional on different levels and left me with lots to think about. There was a little Christmas magic, when a missing cat is found, a man remembering his own humble roots to help a mother in need, and even a story of a man who overcomes his fear to help an elderly neighbour. I found the stories, light and easy, but with good messages. They were also realistic and relatable. At all times, but especially during the Christmas holidays, we should reach out and help others, take some chances and do good. If you are looking for a lovely, quick, uplifting read, pick up this anthology, A Little Christmas Magic. I was able to listen to this book narrated by Colette Davies-Kerwin, and was pleased with her performance. She read the stories giving voices to many various characters, of differing ages and both male and female. Her voice was easy to listen to, and I enjoyed listening to these stories.
This is a cosy festive short read at under 100 pages filled with heartwarming tales of love, family, hope and reunions. The 8 stories are filled with sweet characters, and explore the kindness of strangers, new ventures in life, friends reconnecting, unexpected romance, and people coming together in times of need.
It's filled with emotion and empathy, and each story feels relatable and endearing, and some will definitely make you teary.
This is the second set of charming festive short stories I've read by this author and I'm definitely looking forward to more.
✨ My favourites were - Poppy's Christmas Wish, The last train home and Taking care of belle.
I did not expect that with the end of year I would end up with 30 pieces of any-lenght texts in my brain – excuse me, better say – in my one and half working neurons. And I am glad that the last book was this one.
Yeah, you would probably won't find anything extra deep in these stories, but they feel cozy and slightly unrealisticly magical. And to be honest, this one short story pick was the very best thing I needed to close up a rollercoaster year and melt my heart a little.
What a beautiful collection of short stories.
I’ve given each story is own rating & mini review.
Poppy’s Christmas Wish - 5 ⭐️
Absolutely adorable story. Sweet & innocent.
Made me smile throughout.
The narration is perfect. She has a calm, gentle voice that’s easy to listen to. And I loved hearing Mike’s muffled voice. 😀
Beautiful story for Christmas Eve.
Last Minute Dash - 5 ⭐️
The narrator does a wonderful job at changing her voice to represent a new character.
Such a sweet short story that’s full of Christmas spirit.
Narrator again does a fabulous job at conveying the characters emotions.
Driving Home for Christmas - 5 ⭐️
Fabulous story to read during the run up to Christmas. Funny and I loved the mystery element. Loved the emphasis on the word ‘delicious’ said as a parent would say it.
The Honeymoon Period - 4.5 ⭐️
I would absolutely love this gift! It’s another adorable story that made me smile.
The narrators accents were brilliant and so cute.
I wish this was longer so I’m pleased there will be a series that features this couple.
Check out The Mermaid Hotel Series in 2026.
A Christmas Toast - 5 ⭐️
This was heartbreakingly beautiful. Oh, my heart!
Again, can’t praise the narration enough. Does an amazing job with the accent.
Short but powerful and got me teary.
The Last Train Home - 5 ⭐️
Such a lovely meet-cute.
The narrators accents were, again, great.
It was easy to distinguish between the characters. Does male and older voices very well.
The Wrong Post - 3 ⭐️
Not my favourite, too short but the couple were cute and funny & I liked the reunion.
Taking Care of Belle - 5 ⭐️
Aww so sad as I know this does happen a lot.
Grace is lovely and stubborn. I love Belle (very clever). Jack is a beautiful neighbour and made me smile.
This was a wonderful story to end on.
Overall rating ~ 4.6 rounded up to 5 because it was a wonderful experience and the narration was perfect. I will definitely look for more books narrated by Colette Davies-Kerwin.
And, of course, I’ll be reading more from Suzanne Rogerson as I love her writing and story telling.
I was sent a copy of this audiobook for review.
This was a beautifully sweet and poignant mix of short Christmas stories that really pulled at my heart strings. It had 8 different stories of various lengths but all of them showcased the importance of being with your loved ones at Christmas, being kind to one another and finding the spirit of Christmas (and two of the stories featured ghosts so the embodiment of Christmas spirit was there ha-ha).
There were stories about good Samaritans where a stranger helped a mother pay for her shopping to help her make Christmas perfect for her kids, there was a surprise purchase for newlyweds that brought a smile to my face and there was an adorable meet cute on the last train journey home that hinted at a new romance (plus the guy was into books so he was definitely a keeper). So, there's something for everyone.
My favorite story was the last one - Taking Care of Belle. It involves an elderly lady who has a fall in her home and her nice neighbor reluctantly agrees to look after her pets. He is worried about caring for her cat but has a fear of dogs. As he spends time in the lady’s house, he grows to love the dog and feels less alone in his life. There is also a side story of a burgeoning romance between him and the lady’s carer who visits her in hospital and drops into him to lend a hand.  The general message of this story for me was not to close yourself off from people or opportunities but to reach out and embrace others, especially around the Christmas holidays.
The narrators were perfect for the stories as they added depth to the characters, really brought the different personalities of the people featured throughout all the stories and made me emotional as I listened, even laughing out loud at some points and shredding tears at another. Overall, it was a wonderful mix of magical Christmas moments, and I would recommend it to everyone.
I always start the festive season by enjoying the Christmas hits in shops, admiring the Christmas lights, and carefully selecting gifts I think will truly make loved ones smile. But when there’s just a week to go before the big day and I haven’t wrapped a single present, have missed the last post for cards, and have developed an eye twitch every time I hear “Merry Christmas, Everyone” played yet again, my festive joy has left the building.
So when I saw the opportunity to review A Little Christmas Magic, I deliberately signed up to try and be different this year. And I have to say, this collection of stories couldn’t have a better name! I’ve had my faith in Christmas restored as each story is a like a big hug followed by a warm mince pie.
There’s a sense of wonder and kindness throughout, with something for everyone. My favourites were Taking Care of Belle and Driving Home For Christmas, both of which will stay with me, I think.
The narrator, Colette Davies-Kerwin, has a wide range of accents at her disposal which helps bring the characters to life.
It’s a short audiobook, the perfect length for a Christmas present wrapping session. Or for making a couple of batches of Christmas cookies for neighbours and friends. Or just to bring you back to the essence of Christmas.
I’m giving this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and recommending it to both those who wait all year for Christmas to come, and anyone looking to find joy in a tinsel-adorned jumper again.
Thank you LBT for having me on this review tour and for my gifted copy of this audio code.
I love and hate short stories. I love them because they are that short stories but I hate them cause I want more of said stories. To me this even better was I got to listen to it. I love listening to books. So good. I loved the narrator on this. It was such a fast listen and I flew through this I couldn’t put it down. I had to just keep going. Colette Davies-Kerwin is the narrator and she was so good.
This is a heartwarming story. I don’t think I had a favorite one cause I loved them all. I really liked how we had a variety of different from kindness to friends to remembering your youth and I loved the messages that came with this book. Really makes you think and I’ve been doing a lot of that this holiday season!! Christmas is such a magical time of year I love it but also makes me miss loved ones I’ve lost especially my mom. She loved the holidays and I miss her.
This is definitely an audio book to listen to this holiday season especially with a cup of coffee and a fire going !! Definitely what I did may have to listen again just cause I need it !!
Another collection of christmassy short stories to warm even the coldest of hearts comes from this lovely author.
First, a runaway cat and her little girl are reunited. Was it Santa? Full of childhood magic, this is a lovely read.
Then, a stranger remembers his humble beginnings to aid a stressed-out mum. Reminding us all to be kind.
Next up, a job on Xmas Eve turns a little spooky - not my favourite this one.
A Christmas break heralds a new beginning for a pair of newlyweds.
A very emotional read up next about the importance of making family memories.
Then, a few vinos too many results in an unexpected introduction.
Old friends are reunited after a Xmas card delivery goes missing. Reminding us the importance of friendship.
Finally, one man overcomes his fear to help his elderly neighbour and gets an unexpected christmas in return.
The underlying theme across all of these is kindness. They vary in length from a couple of pages to 18 pages, so they are very easy to race through.
It's a great read to curl up with your christmas cuppa and enjoy.
This audiobook is great for these busy weeks and I really enjoyed dipping in and out of the selection of short festive stories. They are a good mix of situations and characters, all featuring people near Christmas who are at different stages of their lives. You also see families who are faced with sad circumstances, such as the family who are remembering their father who has died but whose voice you hear as he observes the scene, The first story shows a how a missing pet has worried all the members of the family who are anxious to find their lost cat. You see the different pressures which people are under.
Ultimately, the overall tone of the stories is a hopeful one with new starts and new relationships on the cards for some. The stories are clearly narrated by Colette who captures the different voices and she makes the stories such a pleasant way to spend some time.
In short: festive treats
I chose to read this book as a member of Rosie Amber’s Book Review Team and received a copy from the author but that doesn’t alter my review in any way.
I am a fan of short stories and despite it not being the festive season this collection were a delightful and comforting read. There are eight stories in this book which cover tales from a missing pet to a father trying to get home for Christmas.
All these stories are sprinkled with some Christmas magic and are a stress-free read which is just what you need at this manic time of the year. As my reading tends to be towards the darker end of the spectrum there was something incredibly relaxing in knowing that each story was going to work out happily in the end.
Recommended for when you need something easy to read and calming for the mind.
This book of 8 short, festive stories was perfect for my limited concentration span thanks to winter illnesses. We've just put the Christmas tree up, and I curled up under a blanket to read them.
My favourite was Driving Home for Christmas, I loved the mysterious cottage in the woods, and the inhabitants who seemed to disappear.
I also enjoyed Last Minute Dash, I've been that parent in the supermarket, trying to decide which thing to put back, when a stranger paid for me. I "paid it forward" when I could. And I loved Poppy's Christmas wish that Kitty would come home.
I'm looking forward to the full length series based on The Honeymoon Period, and will be looking out for that next year.
As a fan of short stories especially Christmas ones I couldn’t wait to listen to these stories. The audiobook was approximately 2 hours and 26 minutes and included 8 stories. They certainly put me in the mood for Christmas and I will definitely be listening to this audiobook again.
I loved listening to each of the stories because I was introduced to lots of characters and their stories. Each story was different and memorable. From a missing cat, last minute shopping, a delivery, a romance story, a story about family, pets and a woman falling asleep on the train.
My favourite stories were Last Minute Dash which was heartwarming and The Last Train Home which was cute and adorable. The Last Train Home in particular would be loved by any book lover. I listened to both of these stories more than once and wished they’d been longer.
Festive short stories not to be missed.
I thoroughly enjoyed all these tales and completely got lost in them while going for a walk. Everything else blurred into the background as I was so absorbed. The narration was captivating, clear and read with emotion.
I think my favourite tales were Driving Home for Christmas and The Wrong Post, but now writing that I’m thinking, but what about The Last Train Home and Taking Care of Belle?? As you can tell I really enjoyed them all. I must say A Christmas Toast was incredibly moving and very emotional, there may have been a tear or two during that one.
I loved the magical and mystical element of Driving Home for Christmas.
All the stories show warmth and kindness, but some also grief and other difficult issues, but all are written sensitively and show the very best of human nature.
Definitely one to listen to while preparing for Christmas time.
This little collection of eight short festive stories is so heartwarming - an easy 5 stars from me! Each story was perfect for an easy, cosy read at this time of year 🎄 the author has beautifully captured what this time of year is really about, even in such short stories. I found them all to be believable & relatable - I didn’t want them to end! Each one was different in its own way, but they all encompassed happiness, good relationships and the Christmas spirit ✨ my personal favourite was Taking Care of Belle - I could see this one being a little novella in itself 🥰 I think this would be a lovely gift for someone for Christmas 🎁
If you enjoyed A Christmas Wish by Suzanne Rogerson, this book should be next on your TBR. A sweet collection of eight Christmas themed short stories. My favorite was the story of the man who helped his elderly neighbor. He found her after a fall and got her to the hospital but this meant he needed to take care of her dog. Not only did he get over his fear of dogs in this story but solidified his friendship with his neighbor and her caretaker. This book is perfect to carry the Christmas spirit with you all year! One of the stories even leads into a 2025 book.
A little Christmas Magic is a heart warming collection of short stories.
There are 8 short stories to choose from and I liked that you can pick up whichever you want to read first. The stories are all different but they all have that cosiness to it and they are all a different length.
I can't choose my favourite but the cat one, I loved I have a cat myself and if she ever went missing I would cry.
Whichever story becomes your favourite you'll find that they all pull on your heart strings.
Perfect for Christmas lovers
This is my first read by Suzanne Rogerson and it was a thoroughly enjoyable one.
A collection of festive short stories which cover all the Christmas themes of love, kindness, family and friendship.
I loved the fact that you could just pick the book up read a cute story and put it down again as needed.
I’m not sure I can choose a favourite story out of this lot - if forced to it would probably be Taking Care of Belle - such a heartwarming story of neighbourly love.
This book was such a beautiful winter heart warmer. There is something for everyone to share the love at Christmas. From pets to helping others for me this really made me feel the true meaning of Christmas.
I loved every single story and quite honestly couldn’t pick a favourite. Each one brought something different to be book which I loved and the only true theme running through this book was Christmas. This was a very quick read which I read very quickly as it was less than 100 pages.
Here’s another wonderful collection of holiday shorts to uplift us and bring in the spirit of Christmas. Tales to show that people can come together as family and as a community. Since there’s only 8 stories, this book is the size of a novella but perfect for that hint of reading when you don’t feel like having a thick read but want something with that touch of Christmas cheer.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'A Little Christmas Magic' Written By Suzanne Rogerson and Narrated By Colette Davies-Kerwin.
This is the first book I have listened to by this brilliant author but it most definitely will not be my last and I am looking forward to reading more of her books! I listened to the audio version of this beautiful, magical and festive short stories and Colette did an absolutely stunning job of narrating each and every story. It is also the second book in Suzanne's 'Winter Warmers' series but can be read as a standalone.
An beautiful and eclectic collection of 8 short stories filled with stories filled with Christmas, family, friendship, love and goodwill. As I always do with books of short stories or poems I will rate them individually and then give an overall rating at the end. These are the stories that are included in order, a short description of what they are about and my rating:
Poppy's Christmas Wish: After watching her daughter Poppy's lovely Christmas concert Lauren arrives home to find that their cat Kitty is missing. Lauren and her husband Mike search and ask everywhere but have no luck. Lauren and Mike leave it as long as possible to let Poppy know but when she finds out Poppy is devastated. Poppy wishes that Kitty will be home for Christmas. Will she get her wish? A sweet story about a child and her beloved cat 5/5
Last Minute Dash: A lady is at the supermarket checkout when she realises she has to put something back as she cannot afford her whole basket due to money problems. She is struggling to decide whether to put the crackers or chocolate back but doesn't want her son to be upset as he loves both of them. The man behind her with a trolley filled with expensive items is getting frustrated with waiting for her to decide. However, it turns out that he is a guardian angel in disguise. A beautiful story about doing something nice for a stranger. 5/5
Driving Home for Christmas: Nigel takes an extra job on Christmas Eve after promising to his partner Michelle that he wouldn't. He has one more drop off but cannot find the place anywhere and has no signal to get help. All he wants to do is get back to his family to spend the rest of Christmas Eve with Michelle and his family. His last drop off is to a reclusive millionaire who lives in Oxfordshire. He cannot find the home anywhere but does find another house where he stops to ask for help. Fred and Betty live there and after feeding him and giving him a hot drink they tell them where the address may be. He finally finds the home of his client's, Lord Kranley, home who is not happy that he is so late. He completes his delivery of furniture and when telling Lord Kranley about the help he received from the older couple to find his home he is shocked to discover that there is no other homes close by. Nigel receives a large tip for his help making a beautiful Christmas gift for his wife and decides to see the old couple's home on the way back. He is shocked to discover the home he first found is derelict and run down. A beautiful story with a hint of mystery. 5/5
The Honeymoon Period: Elowen and Stan head to Cornwall for a belated honeymoon on Christmas Eve. Stan wants to move to Cornwall but Elowen hasn't been sure. When she finally decides she would be happy to she is devastated that her indecisiveness may have lost them the house they found. However, Stan has some Christmas magic up his sleeve. You can read more about Elowen story 45 years later in Suzanne's 'The Mermaid Hotel Series' where Elowen's story continues. I am definitely looking forward to reading that myself. It will be coming out in 2026 and I cannot wait! A sweet and romantic short story. 4/5
A Christmas Toast: Cathy, Harvey and Jane gather in the garden to make a toast to their beloved Husband/Dad who sadly passed away. However, they do not realise they are being watched over by him. John has returned to his favourite spot to watch over his family on this Christmas. A sweet paranormal story. 5/5
The Last Train Home: Athena falls asleep on the train home and it turns out it is the last one. However she discovers that "hot book guy" Elliott is also on the last train home, which isn't the right train! However, Elliot didn't fall asleep and has been wanting to get to know Athena. Elliott pretended to fall asleep to make sure she was OK and got a taxi home safely. They end up sharing a taxi home. A romantic meet cute. 4/5
The Wrong Post: Kaz and Paul are eagerly awaiting their Grandson's home made Christmas card. They take their caverpoo Benji for a walk to distract them and to drop their new neighbours mail to them after it was mistakenly posted to their house. They spoke about retirement on the walk, Paul wants her to but she doesn't as it will make her feel old. When they arrive at the new neighbour's home it is to discover the doors and windows all open on the home. It turns out the new owner has no hot water or heating. They get chatting and it turns out that Kaz knows the new neighbour Nina and it definitely cheers up Kaz. I wasn't a fan of the "Welsh"? accent on this one but the story was heart-warming. 3/5
Looking After Belle: Jack is woken up at 6am by his neighbour's dog Belle barking. He becomes concerned as it isn't like Grace to leave her dog Belle barking. He calls her to check on her but there's no answer so he goes over to check on her. When there is no answer at the door he lets himself in using the keycode he was given when he was cat sitting for Grace. He finds Grace at the bottom of the stairs where she had fallen down them. He calls her carer Kate after Grace asks her to and an ambulance is also called. Jack is left to look after Belle and Grace's cat Gus. Grace volunteers Kate to help with Belle and Gus. Jack has a fear of dogs after being bitten by one many years ago but Belle is a sweetheart and they get along well. It isn't just Belle that Jack starts bonding with though! A sweet and romantic short Christmas story.
An absolutely fantastic collection of intriguing, sweet, emotive and festive short stories!!! An absolutely huge success by this fantastic author whose incredible and emotive writing skills really brings the reader into his stories ensuring they feel what his characters are. I loved the wide range of "lessons", "morals", magic and festivity intertwined in each of these beautiful and magical stories filled with generosity, kindness, magic, festivity, Christmas and so much more. The narrator Collette Davies-Kerwin does a beautiful job of narrating each story, bringing each of the characters to life and really portraying their emotions through her voices.
An absolutely amazing collection of short stories with an excellent range of situations, characters and narratives. My favourite three just have to be 'The Honeymoon Period', 'A Christmas Toast' and 'The Last Train Home'. These stories include family, friendship, animals, adventures, community, Christmas and much more! There is a great mix of stories so there is definitely something in there for everyone. This book is ideal to be able to pick up and read a story during a break or while making a cuppa! I am definitely looking forward to picking more of Suzanne's books up. As I previously mentioned this is the second book in Suzanne's 'Winter Warmer' series but can be read as a standalone but I cannot wait to go back and read or listen to the first book in this series which is called 'A Christmas Wish'.
'The fact that these are short stories also allows you to pick it up and read a story at a time or read/listen to it in one sitting which is perfect for those who like to read multiple books at one time. Suzanne has excellent writing skills and Colette brilliant narrative skills and I look forward to reading and/or listening to more of their work! This would make a perfect gift for any book lover and you can get a kindle or audible copy in time for Christmas.
Grab your copy of 'A Little Christmas Magic' and discover which stories you love!!!
Congratulations Suzanne on a beautiful selection of stories and on yet another beautiful success!!!
Overall a beautiful selection of fun, sweet, magical, festive and unique short stories perfect for Christmas.
If you are looking for some feel good festive listening then this is a must.
The short stories are perfect for filling those little gaps in time while you are getting festive ready.
Each of the stories is uplifting and although some have an element of loss or sadness that is never the overriding final feel.
The stories vary in length from about 5-40 ish minutes.
The narration of each story is clear and was a really calming effect.
I would highly recommend this collection to others.
This is the second book in the Winter Warmers short story collection series and it follows my read and review (last year) for the first book in this series, A Christmas Wish.
Here we have another collection of 8 short stories, all with a lovely festive feel which I flew through in just two sittings.
Normally with short stories, I spread them out more, but as an audio book, this was perfect to pop on whilst I ate lunch or had a cuppa and relax each day.
I loved the different themes within this collection - although all festive - each one showed what the festive period really means to different people in different situations - reminding us to think of others at this time of year too.
I can't choose my favourite story as each one brought something different - but all so relatable and with enough to them that I could connect with each character.
(I did love the little runaway cat though)
This was such a lovely book to read over this run up to Christmas though - in among all the stress and chaos of the season - it was nice to relax and remember what it's all about - kindness to all, friendship, family and love!
I loved the narrator who had the most calm and relaxing voice.
This made is so easy to just sit back and immerse myself into the stories for an hour or so and think of nothing else for a short period.
A great little quick read.
Aw, what a wonderful heartwarming set of Christmassy short stories! A family’s cat goes missing before Christmas; a woman struggles to afford her Christmas shopping; a man delivering a last minute order on Christmas Eve finds himself lost, these are just some of the scenarios that begin this brilliant set of short stories.
This book contains eight short stories with each of them set around Christmas and while each of the takes is different, they all have some wonderful and heartwarming endings. The book begins by mentioning the author’s cat, along with a picture of her as she’s the inspiration for the first story, Poppy’s Christmas Wish. I love how all of these stories go, including this first one, with a few of the stories having some fun twists.
The stories:
-Poppy’s Christmas Wish – A family’s cat goes missing a few days before Christmas.
-Last Minute Dash – A woman is struggling with affording her Christmas shopping and is having a dilemma on what she can keep and what she has to put back at the check out.
-Driving Home for Christmas – A man is trying to make a special delivery late on Christmas Eve but gets lost on his way to the house, but luckily gets help from a kind couple.
-The Honeymoon Period – A story set in the 70s this shows what happens when a couple go away on a holiday for Christmas. I loved this romantic tale and it interested me that it contains characters from the author’s new romance novel which will be publishing next year.
-A Christmas Toast – A beautiful, short but more emotional story as a man watches his family during Christmas as they make a toast to him.
-The Last Train Home – A woman ends up faling asleep on a train near Christmas time but finds herself not alone in making that mistake.
-The Wrong Post – A couple end up delivering a letter that was posted to their address by accident to its correct recipient but learn something when they get there.
-Looking After Belle – This story follows a man as he has to look after his elderly neighbour’s dog, even though he’s not a fan of dogs.
Every single story you read leaves you feeling happy and makes you smile and I do have my favourites such as Driving Home for Christmas which has a brilliant slightly spooky atmosphere as well as having a fun twist to it. And I really love the stories featuring animals, especially Poppy’s Christmas Wish and Looking After Belle which is a lovely story to finish off the collection and one I especially related to with the slight dog phobia.
Overall this is a wonderful selection of short stories which I recommend to everyone wanting to read some short tales set around Christmas time. It’s just as good, if not even better, than the other book in the Winter Warmers series, A Christmas Wish, and I’d recommend both books for anyone looking for some festive stories to make you smile!
-Thanks to the author for a free copy.
A Little Christmas Magic is a series of eight short stories that remind us about the magic of the holiday season and the unexpected moments that can happen along the way. The stories are heartwarming and poignant.
The audiobook of the collection was excellently narrated by Colette Davies-Kerwin, voicing multiple characters and showcasing their emotional journeys in each of the stories.
This collection is ideal for listening to while getting ready for the holidays. Readers looking for a cozy and quick read will enjoy the collection.
The stories included in the collection are:
Poppy’s Christmas Wish
Last Minute Dash
Driving Home for Christmas
The Honeymoon Period
A Christmas Toast
The Last Train Home
The Wrong Post
Taking Care of Belle
These collection features stories with a variety of themes that span multiple generations, showing how each generation uniquely experiences the holidays. There are, however, unifying themes of joy, anticipation, and wonder. There is also honesty about the hard times and feelings that can happen during the holidays.
In each of the stories, the kindness of others is shown throughout. Kindness to people the characters know and to those they do not know. The Christmas season is a time of year that reminds us about kindness. In several of the stories, the characters experience new and unexpected connections, forming new bonds, relationships, friendships with people in their hometowns or people met briefly on travels. They are all impactful.
Thank you Suzanne Rogerson and Love Books Tours for the advanced copy of the audiobook and opportunity to read and review the book! I was provided a copy of this book for free and am leaving an honest review.
This was an incredibly beautiful listen for the holiday season! The title is absolutely perfect and fitting. The collection of short stories really is an examination of different kinds of ways that Christmas - or life in general, but during the holiday - can be magical. While everyone knows that the holidays can be really hard for a great deal of people, it is also full of little bits and pieces of miracles that make us feel closer to those we've lost or like we've met an angel here on Earth.
Each of these stories brings a true little piece of holiday magic - from bringing old friends back together after a lifetime apart to introducing potential love matches over the minor injury of a beloved older neighbor. I really loved each one in their own way, but I think my two favorites were "The Last Train Home" and "The Wrong Post." Both were about connection with others and how sometimes we just need a little push to connect and possibly find a great connection. Really, broken down to their base, they were all about connection in different ways.
The narrator, Colette Davies-Kerwin, had a very smooth and calming voice. Honestly, being that I'm so tired lately with my AS and my new puppy - she almost soothed me to sleep a couple of times, not because the stories were boring, just because her voice was so delightful. She should get a job on some of those calm nighttime stories if she doesn't already.
I highly recommend this short listen - only two and a half hours - to bring you some holiday cheer this season.
A Little Christmas Magic is the second in the Winter Warmer series and it knows how to get a listener ready for Christmas! Comprised of eight short stories ranging from a few minutes to just over half an hour, you can get this novel finished a quickly as you want or you could spread the cheer out over eight listens (one listen per short story!) Each story brings out a meaning of Christmas and a listener will definitely choose a favorite for their individual preference! My favorite was one of the shorter stories: Last Minute Dash. It just spoke to me more than the others. It shows the kindness of a stranger while also sharing in the joy of Christmas and memories of childhood. Not a bad story in the novel, this was an enjoyable listen that can help get anyone in the Christmas spirit.
The narrator Colette Davies-Kerwin did a great job with her narration in these stories to help spread Christmas cheer!
Many thanks to the author and Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources for a copy that I could listen to for the Audible blog blitz.
