Becoming a lifeguard at Sea Side Cove was never in Carly’s plans, but it’s the one thing in her life that’s going right. At least, until the new guy shows up and knocks her off her game in the middle of a rescue. Ryan Harris might be the most amazing man she’s ever met.
There’s just one problem. She’s not available.
Her relationship is, at best, complicated. She hasn’t been happy in a long time, but she can’t just walk out either. And if Ryan knew the truth about Carly, he wouldn’t want her, anyway.
Now she just needs to convince him of that. Then Sea Side Cove finds itself in the path of a Category 5 hurricane, and suddenly they have much bigger things to worry about.

Katya has called Orlando, Florida, home since 2013. If you’d told her she’d fall in love, adopt her dream dog, lose her dream job, find a new one, and then lose that and start writing romance novels, she never would have believed it.
She and her husband have two Golden Retreievers named Buffy and Skipper, and a cat named Brightheart. When she’s not writing, Katya spends most of her time at theme parks, playing video games, or reading.
This story was okay. I liked the setting. The day-to-day lifeguarding aspect was cool. Carly really got on my nerves with her TSTL act at the end of the book. Her insecurity grated on me. Ryan was just too perfect, almost like a robot. I was glad Diana got her comeuppance. Wish Travis had, too.
Audiobook — Lifeguards • Insta-love/instant attraction • Stormed-in together • I really liked the lifeguard aspect of this story. I wasn’t a fan of the narrators but they did a decent job. Carly’s feelings toward her current bf made sense but also F all that. Yuck. I wish she had gotten out way sooner without needing that final…push..we’ll say. Saw it coming though. Otherwise, I found it kinda funny, cute, and endearing, with a splash of spice at the end.
super easy read. carly is a lifeguard at this resort in florida and she’s coming back after being gone for two weeks and she meets ryan whose superrrr yummy and is a new lifeguard. they hit it off right away but carly has a shitty boyfriend who she lives with but is basically their maid/cook so it’s not a real relationship at all but she feels like she owes him so she stays with him. a few weeks at work go by and carly and ryan r close and they go out together but her bf is still a dick but right before this huge hurricane she finds out her bf is cheating on her so she moves out and is trying to leave during the storm. she goes to this storm party to see ryan kissing another girl but apparently she like forced herself on him but she runs away in the middle of this hugeeee storm and for hours she’s mia and ryan is like freakinggg the freak out but like i love how patient he is with her throughout the book and everything. anyways she ends up crashing her car with all her stuff in it and it all gets damaged from the rain and she calls ryan to come save her. it’s a clusterrrr but he finally gets her and they manage to get back to his apartment and the finally fuck like literally they didn’t fuck until like 90% but the tension went crazyyyyyg. anyways so the storm finally passes and they bitch of a boss gets fired and carly gets the promotion. ryan gets to become a dolphin trainer like he was originally promised and they announce their relationship. overall it was a super cute book, minimal steam but cute
Two lifeguards, a hurricane and a burning desire between them. What can go wrong?
Plenty.
I picked up this book because the premise caught me. Lifeguards, a hurricane…simmering romance. It sounds like a great read. So I picked it up. I’m glad I did. These characters were fresh and fun. Carly is determined and seemed to have a lot go wrong for her. She’s relatable. Sometimes life just gives you a gigantic turd and it’s up to you to figure out how to handle it. How she does is interesting and relatable. I liked Ryan, too. He’s sweet and seems almost too perfect. He’s the quintessential romance hero. For sheer fantasy, he’s the one.
There were times when the writing wasn’t my cuppa, but it was the cadence of the sentences that drew me out of the story a few times. That might not be a deterrent for everyone, but it was for me. There were moments I questioned what Carly did and the lots life threw at her, but again, not everyone will feel this way.
If you’re looking for a romance where there’s hope and sweetness while in the midst of a hurricane, then this might be the one for you.
The story was about a young lifeguard, Carly who was attracted to another lifeguard, Ryan, but she had a boyfriend, Travis and didn't want to cheat on him. Fighting her attraction against Ryan, she vows to make it work with Travis, in spite of his abusive and careless nature towards her. It seems as if Carly doesn't have much of a social support system, as she is even estranged from her own family, and has been victimised by many people in her life. At first, I didn't like Carly because she didn't have much back-bone or much of a personality, but she slowly grew on me as she attempted to sort out her life, and failing miserably. Her life got worse after a hurricane and a misunderstanding between her and Ryan. I also didn't like Ryan much at first, as he acted like a stalker in the beginning and would not give Carly much space. I also found a third of the story had too much description, and a lot of it could have been cut to move the story forward. Generally, an entertaining story with a happy ending.
I loved this story. Ryan is a brilliant character and eberuthing you'd possibly want in a guy. When he sees Carly, he's absolutely besotted with her, but unfortunately she hasa loser of a boyfriend. Trying to understand why she's with him, leads him to discover what a complete arsehole Travis really is. So Ryan sets out to build Carlys confidence up and give her the time needed to make the right decision for her. His compassion, patience and willingness to be there, is what finally makes Carly realise she wants Ryan just as much. But then a hurricane hits and causing devastation. These scenes are brilliantly written. Only down side for me was the chapter before the first life guard save was unnecessary, so I skipped alot of it.
Coworker romance is my jam but it gets tiring reading about the same old office and boss dynamics. Sea Side Cove is totally different, and our main leads are true coworkers. Neither is ranked over the other, just one's a little more dedicated. It's love at first rescue, but our female lead's got to get her head on straight and figure out what she wants in life. Our male lead has to convince her that she deserves better than what she's settling for. Good pacing, decent steam, this is one beach read you'll love no matter the time of year.
A fun, provocative, and satisfying read, with likable characters (except Diana!) and tangible chemistry between them, both when they can't stop thinking about one another and when they'd rather be thinking about anybody else. A good way to escape from the day-to-day monotony of real life for a weekend! I definitely recommend!
I enjoyed this book. It had both sweet and dramatic moments. The author did a good job with the suspenseful parts. I did think that there was some explanations needed in the ending regarding the situation with Diana because that left me curious.
Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review

Loved this!
At first I thought this book would be a little cheesy, but man did I get sucked in! Finished it all in one go and was definitely not disappointed. There was a little more description about certain things than I preferred, such as the description of the lifeguard stations, but overall I was hooked!
LOVEDDDD THIS BOOK!! Loved Carly and Ryan and thought their story was amazing! The writing was fantastic and loved the spice!! I was in such a reading slump but now I am flying onto book #2!
This was really cute! Sweet and tense moments to keep you reading. Perfect read if you're holidaying at a seaside resort! The couple were clearly perfect for eachother and I really loved the setting! So different from usual contemporary romance books I pick up.
I would have liked it more if Carly had headbutted Travis or pushed him down the stairs! 😆
Instant attraction, no such thing especially if you’re a girl with intimacy issues,or so you believe. Throw in a dead end boyfriend and flatmate, a boss with a grudge, a spiteful colleague then why would you believe the hottest guy you’ve ever met would look at you once let alone twice. Then again maybe it could happen but of course a hurricane hits worse than expected and you get caught in it. I enjoyed this book, moved along well, lots happening and watching the main character Carly grow and change for the better. Who doesn’t loves hot, compassionate, protective guy like Ryan. A recommended read.
Rating: 2.5/5 🌟 Spice level: 1.5/5 🌶️ Edited because I dont like giving harsh reviews to books with not many reviews and didnt realize there wasnt many reviews till I got the random reply trying to pick a fight lol. Book wasnt terrible, just not my cup of tea and I did see some things I was less than thrilled about. If this is a smaller author though I'll definitely be checking out some of her newer books because I did enjoy their writing style and thought the premise was unique and interesting!
