Twelve years. Two hearts. One love that refuses to fade.
Jake
Twelve years ago, I let her walk away.

For one unforgettable summer, Charlie and I were inseparable—camp counselors sharing stolen laughs, late-night talks, and a bond so rare it left a mark. But when the summer ended, we said goodbye, thinking the world was too big for us to hold onto each other.

I chased my hockey dreams, she built a life oceans away. I thought it was the right thing to do. Turns out, the NHL doesn’t have a trophy for the one who got away.

Then one night, I see her in the crowd at my game, and time folds in on itself.

She’s back. A single mom starting over, her fire burning brighter than ever. Except this time, she’s got two kids, mile high walls, and a toxic ex who doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as her.

Winning her heart will be the toughest play of my life. But if I fail, I lose the future I've only ever imagined with her.

Fate’s handed me a second chance, and I’ll take every shot to prove she’s always been my endgame.

I let her go once. Never again.

Charlotte

Moving halfway across the world with two kids and a mountain of emotional baggage wasn’t exactly on my vision board, but here I am. Fresh start. New city. Zero interest in dating, especially after my ex-husband shredded my self-worth like one of those paper-thin contracts he never honored.

But after one mortifying moment involving the jumbotron and a soggy pretzel, Jake Brooks storms back into my life. The boy from summer camp who became an NHL superstar. The boy I never quite got over.

Except he’s not a boy anymore.

He’s taller, broader, and maddeningly persistent. My kids adore him. My ex loathes him. And my heart? Doesn’t stand a chance.

Falling for Jake wasn’t part of the plan, but he looks at me like I’m the only thing that matters. Even though I still house heartache, even though I have deep battle wounds. He’s tasted them, and he wants me anyway. Despite them. Like I was always meant to be his.

Jake’s dismantling the walls I built to protect myself, brick by brick with relentless care. But my ex lingers like a shadow, desperate to tear down what little control I have left.

But maybe letting go isn’t about losing control—maybe it’s about letting the right person back in, the one who was always meant to stay.

Charlotte divorces her husband and moves from New Zealand to the US with her two children. A friend invites her to a hockey game, where she meets Jake—the guy she spent a wonderful summer with 12 years ago. Back then, they were camp counselors; now, he's a famous NHL player, and she's a single mom.

This is a very sweet and heartwarming story. I loved all the main characters. Charlotte was brave to leave a husband who didn’t appreciate her or pay attention to their kids. Jake was amazing—he immediately connected with the children, and those moments were incredibly cute. He constantly supported her and helped in every way.

The book left me with a pleasant aftertaste, but at times, it felt too sweet and a bit boring. Everything went smoothly for the characters from the very beginning—they confessed their feelings almost right away. There was some drama with the ex-husband, and those chapters really hooked me, but I wanted more of that tension.

Still, I think this is a great debut novel, and I’d love to read more books in the series.

"She's everything. I love her in the cracks of time, in the pauses, in the places people forget to look. Even in the dark spaces where nothing else exists, she's there. Filling everything."

Charlie and Jake meet at a summer camp, and over the weeks, they forge a wonderful connection. When it’s time to go separate ways, they promise each other to chase their dreams. Charlie heads back to New Zealand, while Jake pursues his passion for hockey. Fast forward 12 years, and they cross paths again—realizing that the spark between them is still alive! Jake is determined to win back Charlie’s heart.

Charlie is a smart, strong, and independent woman, but her confidence took a hit after a tough marriage. However, landing her dream job inspires her to move to the U.S. with her two kids. Jake, at 31, is a seasoned hockey player and one of the veterans on his team. Lately, he’s been feeling lonely and questioning whether hockey is enough for him—until he sees Charlie again, which reignites a sense of purpose.

The bond between Charlie and Jake is truly special! I loved the flashbacks that took us back to their summer camp adventures. It was heartwarming to see how honest Jake is about wanting a real relationship. He tells Charlie he’s all in, wanting to be part of her life and her kids’ lives, and he consistently proves how serious he is about them. The way he interacts with Noah and Meadow is just lovely—he’s caring, patient, and sweet, which makes it so easy to root for him. At first, Charlie hesitantly tries to push him away because she’s focused on rebuilding her life for her kids. Gradually, Jake helps her to let her guard down. It’s so touching to watch Charlie start to trust him, seek his help, and learn to lean on him.

There are so many unforgettable moments in this book! One of my favorites is when Jake, Charlie, Noah, and Meadow share a cozy Christmas in Jake's cabin. And I can’t forget about Zoe—Charlie’s friend, who is just fantastic and always supports her! This book was a joy to read, and I’m already looking forward to the next one!

"The dream I've been chasing my whole life is to feel the way you made me feel back then. Happy, safe. Cherished."
"You're my dream too, Charlie. I'm convinced I was always made to love you."

Twelve years ago Jake and Charlie spent a summer dancing around each other as camp counselors, never quite crossing the line they both so desperately wanted to.

Now in Denver with her two kids for a fresh start, something like fate has thrown her and Jake back together again, and like magnets they’re drawn to each one another once more.

Seal the Deal was a swoony and steamy second chance romance that had me squealing and kicking my feet the entire time. The connection between these two was something else, and I just loved their love so much 😍

Jake was an absolute dreamboat, and I loved how patient he was with not only Charlie, as she struggled to let him in past the walls she built thanks to her awful ex, but with Noah and Meadow as well. He was all in from the start, and he proved that time and time again.

& Charlie was seriously such a strong FMC & absolutely fantastic mother. She picked up her entire life and moved halfway across the world on her own to make sure her kids would grow up happy, healthy, and safe.

I only have one thing to complain about: it's finished, I would have liked at least a thousand pages of the two of them.

I'm obsessed, if you love: second chances, sports romance and single mom this is for you.

I love romances where children are super present and loved by the protagonist (protagonist who among other things is under a train for her).

thank you for give me this arc 🩷

This book is everything and more. Jake & Charlie have quite the love story. Add in Noah & Meadow and they make the story whole. I was all up in my feels whilst reading this book. The side characters are chef’s kiss!

Read it, you won’t regret it.

Excited for book 2 (Chase & Zoe).

There were so many elements of this book that I absolutely loved. It’s filled with real emotion and lots of small moments.

- no third act break up
- no miscommunication
- MCs are 31; he’s a professional hockey player and she’s some kind of marketing person w two small kids; recently moved from New Zealand after a messy divorce
- flashbacks - these were done really nicely. The main characters got to know each other during a summer 13 years ago when they were 18 yr old camp counselors. Each flashback is very short and points directly to something coming up in the next chapter. It’s v well done.
- dual POV; HEA
- no OM/OW drama. Her ex husband comes back but doesn’t cause jealousy; just problems in general. He threatens to take the kids back and she briefly wonders if she should take them back to NZ to avoid more problems w him.
-moderate spice, starts around 50%ish.
- mental health rep- it touches on depression (not MC’s) and panic/anxiety

These two had a connection that very first summer and the story is of them meeting again years later and re-finding that connection. Learning to trust each other and build their life together.

Jake is all in w the kids and doesn’t want to risk losing her again. Charlie is understandably worried about making sure that she’s realistic about their relationship and is more wary to jump and trust. He never wavers and lets her know early on that he’s all in.

I dropped a star for two reasons: 1) her doubting him, even if for good reason, wore a little thin. It gets a bit repetitive. 2). I didn’t understand their back stories v well- Especially hers. Where are her parents? Why was she at that camp in the first place? How are she and Zoe such great friends when they literally live on opposite sides of the world? Why did he never introduce her and the kids to his mom, who lives like 5 mins away? Also, at one point he’s struggling w how he’s going to balance hockey, her, etc and then ‘poof’ it’s just never mentioned again. There were just a few too many holes/dangling strings.

But overall, a really sweet sweet hug of a book. An excellent debut novel.

Favorite parts:
- cute nicknames: lady lightening/little lightening captain (?) thunder, Charlie girl - altho they were a little over-done lol
- his grandmas secret brownie recipe that she learned
- when she went to his apt to support him after his loss.
- when he shows up repeatedly to support her - eg. when Meadow has a fever, when Noah is lost.
- the cozy Christmas at Jake’s cabin; the hot tub 🌶️

This touching second chance romance follows Charlie and Jake, who unexpectedly cross paths again 12 years after forming a connection during summer camp. Now a devoted single mom, Charlie is focused on creating a better life for her two kids, moving to the U.S. for a fresh start. When she reconnects with Jake, she’s wary of letting him in, still healing from a toxic past. But Jake’s patience, unwavering support, and genuine connection with her children slowly break down her walls. He becomes the missing piece in their lives, something they never had but always needed. With a swoon worthy MMC, heartfelt family moments, and just the right amount of spice, this is a romance you won’t want to miss!

"Every small thing he’s done in the past few hours stitches a part of me back together. I have someone here, someone who steps in when things go sideways. I’m not alone."

This book was the absolute sweetest way to drop a debut novel and open up this series. Hailey Rodger really stole my heart with this book! Between the relationship these two share when they were younger to the "You're might now and I'm never letting you go again". It was all so sweet!

"Twelve years, Lady Lightning. That's 4,514 sunsets since the last one we had on that hill. Countless games… A lifetime of moments without you."

Jake is top notch book boyfriend material. Even from the first chapter, I was completely swooning over this man and the way he noticed Charlie and how special she was! Fast forward 12 years and this man still has it soooo bad for her. Regretting his decision to ever let her go. And boy does he make his intentions apparent this time around! Not only for her but her two sweet kids! Even though Charlie's life now came with many more hurdles she was facing he was determined to make sure she knew she was no longer alone in anything she ever did. It didn't matter if he was miles away or in the same city he was next to her fight her battles with her. And my gosh, did Charlie deserve that! Especially after being let down as many times as she was in the years previously! And after packing up and moving her kids to another country to give them the life they deserve. She was such a strong FMC. But I loved that she had Jake to lean on and count on!

“I’m gonna worship you every day for the rest of my life.”

This book was beautifully done. And I can't wait to see where Hailey takes this series.

Beta/ARC review for Seal the Deal by Hailey Rodger

Thanks to Hailey and Luna Literary Management for the Beta/ARC opportunity!

Featured tropes: second chance, MCs in their 30s, teenage friends to lovers, he falls first, found family, protective cinnamon roll, questionable use of a brownie...

Trigger warning: divorce and custody threats, emotionally abusive/manipulative/controlling ex, cheating (in past, not between MCs), anxiety/panic attacks, lost/missing child

Review: 5/5

If you handed me this book and told me it was Hailey's debut novel, I would absolutely not believe you. I did a late beta read of this book and I was simply blown away as I read it. Hailey truly knocked this one out of the park and I'm so excited for it to enter the world. Now, *cracks knuckles* let's dive in.

Things I liked:
- Obviously, I loved it. So I liked a lot of things. Charlie is such a strong FMC, doing what she thinks is best for her kids and always keeping them at the top of her mind. She moves across the world all by herself with two kids in tow. I sometimes don't want to take my one two year old to the grocery store. Despite obstacles from her past, she stays strong through it all.
- Jake frickin' Brooks. This man is such a simp for Charlie and, after her POS ex, she deserves it. Jake is endlessly supportive of Charlie but has an intuitive sense for when she needs his help or when she needs to handle something by herself. And the way this man shows up for Charlie's kids in literally every way their father doesn't and never has just makes my little momma heart sing. And the forearms. Damn, I'm a sucker for some good forearms and Hailey delivered those to us in the form of Jake Brooks.
- Meadow and Noah are national treasures and need to be protected and loved at all costs.
- I will forever love a found family and there is a great cast of characters making up this one. We get glimpses of future book's MCs and start building those relationships. Jake and his team are clearly family. And the sweet and fierce friendship Charlie has in Zoe is amazing. Every girl needs a Zoe who will verbally abuse your shitty ex at dinner. Also, how could I not love a cast of characters who celebrate Thanksgiving and don't hold back on their deeply entrenched food loyalties? Thanksgiving is the superior holiday and, honestly, Ocean Spray should sponsor this book.
- There's some great spice in here and questionable use of a brownie (no FMCs were harmed in the use of this brownie). Honestly, the brownies are basically their own character. They're part of Jake's personality. Like, I'm expecting character art for them.
- The chapter titles are just chef's kiss. I love me some good chapter titles and you don't see them like you used to.

Things I disliked or missed the mark:
- I. HATE. Alex. Not a book problem. Truly, probably a compliment more than anything because I have never raged so much against a fictional character. To me, the truly despicable characters aren't the typical villain but the ones that could really be every day people you'd maybe work with, pass at the grocery store, etc. People who definitely exist in the world and, while they aren't breaking laws or anything like that, they're truly just trash humans. THOSE are the characters I hate the most. Alex is one of those characters. And then, on top of all that, he's not only a trash human but a trash father too. I cannot. Every time I came across his name in the book, I gave him a new mean nickname. I got 175 monikers in (trust me, not all of them were winners) before I got to chapter 44 and got just so FRICKIN' pissed that I literally couldn't anymore. Like, I was so mad. I hate that Alex guy.
- Jake was mean to the Goo Goo Dolls and I will not stand for it!

Okay. All that to say, I really, truly adored this book. I felt ALL the feelings while reading it. I laughed, I squealed, I said a swear word or 400, and I might have had a sniffle or two (if you tell anyone I will deny it!). Yes, it clocks in longer than what I find a typical sports romance to be but I didn't find the story dragging or any pieces truly unnecessary at any point. I felt like everything flowed well and had its place.

Really, if you want to feel it all, this is a great choice. I loved every second and I'm not-so-patiently waiting for book two.

Also, no one asked but, in my beta read, I clocked Jake's dad mode activating 27 times, gifted 175 nicknames to the man I hate the most before I got so mad I couldn't do it anymore, and made 13 pop culture references in my comments ranging from Disney to sitcoms to books to music. Honestly, I'm shocked Hailey is still taking my Instagram messages.

Cute but that was all. I don't even think this can be classified as second chance, since they met 12 years earlier and nothing happened.

Even though this novel had all my favorite tropes I felt it was a bit boring and lagging after a bit. They started dating straight away, a lot of monologues repeating over and over the same things.

If you’re looking for a sweet romance without a lot of tension or drama but lots of heartwarming moments and tons of hot, steamy scenes - this is definitely the book for you!

✦ single mom + hockey player
✦ second chance romance
✦ MCs in their 30s
✦ he falls first
✦ found family
✦ “good girl”
✦ dual POV + flashbacks

Charlie and Jake met at just 18, while serving as camp counselors together. The connection was instant and heartfelt, but they were both young with so much life ahead of them. Being torn in different directions, fate brings them back together 12 years later. Now in their 30’s, Jake is an NHL superstar, and Charlie is a Marketing Exec plus a single mom of 2. Starting over after fleeing an emotionally toxic relationship with the kids’ dad, Charlie is afraid of love. Jake lets her know he’s all in and continues to show it and show up for her and her kids. This man is why the word swoon exists. He would burn the world down for her but also takes charge in the bedroom. The spice is spicy!

"𝘚𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥. 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘐 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳."

Told in alternating POV’s and with flashbacks sprinkled in, we get a good look at how their relationship evolved 12 years ago and now. This is the kind of second chance romance you can root for. It’s the right person, wrong time. No one was in the wrong - there was no cheating or miscommunication. Just two young kids figuring out where they belonged in the world.

During the dual POV’s, we’d sometimes get a look at the same scene but through the other character’s perspective. At times this was cute, and other times it felt repetitive. This is a debut romance from an incredibly talented indie author. She put so much heart and emotion into the story. You can feel it! If I had one critique, it’s that the book could have been considerably shorter. The story drug on in areas, and while I understand why she carried on the storyline as long as she did, it was hard as a reader to stay fully engaged throughout. I think this is an area she’ll learn over time with future books, but I’m definitely excited to read more from her! I’m also hoping that book two features the feisty-as-fire Zoe finding her love. This side character/best friend is so much fun!!

Thank you to Hailey Rodger and Luna Literary Management for the opportunity to read this digital ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up!

“i love her in the cracks of time, in the pauses, in the places people forget to look. even in the dark spaces where nothing else exists, she’s there. filling everything.”

this was one of the CUTEST romance books i’ve read, and it’s a hockey romance? swoon.

charlie was so, so protective over her kiddos that the fierce way she loved and cared for them melted my heart. dealing with her unserious and emotionally abusive ex is a feat all on it’s own, especially with two young kids. although she’s strong, she isn’t the best at asking for help, which is totally understandable. when jake comes in and stands his ground saying that he’s on her side and not going anywhere no matter what, she has no choice but to accept his help (help that she secretly wanted to ask for). charlie has become one of my favourite book characters, and i’m so very glad i got the opportunity to meet her!

jake was everything charlie needed, and charlie and her kids were everything jake needed. they all complemented each other so well, and jake didn’t miss a beat when interacting with meadow and noah in the slightest. his insistence on being there for them and getting to know them was quite literally unconditional. not to mention how protective he became over them (and charlie) in such a short time. but honestly, i’d fall head over heels for those kids too, especially meadow (my fav!). his ability to lift charlie up and help her grow into her new life was everything to me, and she helped him be the best version of himself even when she didn’t know it. oh, and the stars that jake drew in his notebook? i. was. done. for.

i absolutely adored their little inside jokes and nicknames, and the brownie thing??? so freaking CUTE! i can’t wait to read more of hailey’s work soon!

thank you so much to luna literary management and the author for the e-arc! 🌙

Hailey Rodger’s Seal the Deal is a captivating second-chance romance that blends the high-energy world of professional hockey with an emotional, slow-burn love story. This debut novel, and the first in the Colorado Storm series, delivers the perfect mix of heart, humor, and swoon-worthy romance.

The story follows Jake, an NHL star with a heart of gold, and Charlotte, a determined single mother who’s had to navigate life’s challenges on her own. After a summer fling at camp twelve years ago, their paths unexpectedly cross again, forcing them to confront unresolved feelings, personal growth, and the possibility of a future together. Jake’s unwavering patience and Charlotte’s cautious vulnerability make for a compelling dynamic, and their chemistry is undeniable.

Rodger excels at character development, creating a well-rounded cast that adds depth to the narrative—especially Charlotte’s children, who bring warmth and authenticity to the story. The banter is charming, the emotional beats hit just right, and the romance unfolds naturally, making it impossible not to root for these two.

For fans of sports romance, single-parent love stories, and slow-burn relationships with plenty of heart, Seal the Deal is a must-read. It sets a strong foundation for the Colorado Storm series, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

For a debut novel, this was pretty good. And the tropes were checking all my boxes. There were a lot of things I loved about it: how they were summer camp friends reunited years later, or Jake’s fondness and protectiveness for Charlie’s kids, and the spice! Omg can she write spice. Like the best spice. 😮‍💨🥵

But the relationship started very fast and made it drag a little later on and I found myself skimming parts. It was very monologue heavy, and the conversation seemed superficial and didn’t flow naturally at points, so it felt repetitive and boring at times. Until the ex comes back and drama ramps up.

But with that said, I still enjoyed it and teared up at every interaction with the kids. Those emotional moments throughout the book really tugged at your heartstrings and had you reaching for the tissues. The lengths that Jake would go to for them.. that man is superior. 🤌🏻

Well done for a debut! I’m very excited to see how her writing progresses in the works to come.

“For anyone who's ever felt like they’re too much and not enough all at once, or felt they need to prove they're worthy of love. You aren’t. You don’t. I’m glad you exist.” I’m unwell 😭😩🥹

This was SOOOOOO cute, are you kidding me. Jake and Charlie had me literally crying multiple times. At the first 20% I wasn’t sure If I was going to like it, but boy have the tables turned

Charlie (Charlotte) is a single mom with two adooooraaableee kiddo’s Meadow and Noah and she moves from New Zealand to America to get a new start from her shitty ex husband. Jake is an NHL player with his own struggles but falls again head over heels for his Charlie girl. They met 12 years ago when they were working at a summer camp.

Also Zoe, her best friend, I’m obsessed. “"And if he rocks your world, I expect a full report. Charts, graphs, and a dramatic reenactment."

And the kids, Noah and Meadows are so freaking adorable. When Jakes calls Meadows princess 🥹. How Jake always shows up for Noah 🥹 SO CUTE

Before I begin I want to thank the author, Hailey Rodger, for giving me this ARC.

This book had its positives and its negatives. I liked the base of the story and the little details. I really liked the chapter titles and characters. The fluffy-ness was what kept me reading.

Before I start listening some of the negatives please keep in mind that I did enjoy the story. I don't hate it. I known all of this is going to sound harsh but I'm just trying to be honest.

The negatives about this was that everything felt very predictable and I have the feeling like it's done before. I don't know I just felt like some things were very similar to something else. For example Captain Thunder and Lady Lightning that is just a bit too similar to the nickelodeon series "The Thundermans". It's just those kind of things that I feel are too similar.

This book was so. dang. cute!!!

I love seeing the time jumps, I loved seeing our characters reunite and jump through all their hurdles to be with eachother. The MMC falling for her , the love for the kids, the love for her and protecting her? I’m done. Saw a woman looking for a romance where it’s a single mom and a man who takes care of her and her kiddos without hesitation and falls first - immediately recommended this 😭💓 can’t wait to see more from this author.

Thank you for trusting me with a honest review and for letting me read this early!

I have such a soft spot for second chance romances!

Can you imagine after so many years you meet up with your first love from when you’re 18? But this time you are a divorced mom of two and he’s a professional hockey player, will the instant connection be there? Will the ex husband give any issues to you and your nee budding romance? Will your kids love him as much as you do?

DNF @ 23%

Good writing for a debut but very repetitive, especially in Jake's feelings. And look, I love a MMC who is gone for the FMC but this was over the top and he could barely think about anything else during his POV chapters. I'm also personally not a fan of flashbacks and it didn't feel like the ones here were doing anything to enhance the story.

Arc Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Where do I even start…
Hailey absolutely nailed it with her debut novel she had me at second chance and hockey romance way back when she released the trope list! Haha

Before I received my arc I read the “freequel” which was super cute it really helped set the scene for Jake and Charlie’s story. I absolutely adored seeing them as teens while working at a summer camp it was a great setup before getting stuck into their book.

Seal The Deal was so swoony and full of so much romance and so many emotions. I loved how all in Jake was with Charlie and her kids we love a devoted MMC.
Charlie was such an amazing mother I loved watching her find herself again after starting over in a new country away from her ex (such a prick btw haha I was so ready for Zoe to slap him!)

Amazing plot with great flow, entertaining side characters and I’m such a sucker for true love and second chances. These two were so beautiful together. I wouldn’t have known this was Hailey’s first book if I went into this blind.
This has made me super excited for the next one I can’t wait to hopefully she Zoe stir things up! Haha

Thankyou so much Hailey and @lunaliterary.management for the arc 💋

💕 Right Person, Wrong Time
🏒 He Falls First

This book and these characters absolutely ROCKED my world!! The love that was shared between Charlie and Jake was astronomical and blew me out of the water and into the stars 🌟.  The love that these two had was not only astronomical but also the love that extended to Noah and Meadow. My heart melted all over this book as I read and somehow my eyes kept leaking liquids 😢.

Jake was literally the most ideal man that anyone could ever hope to marry. He was attentive, wasn't scared to show his love with his WHOLE chest,  and made sure that Charlie knew that he was all in at every turn. Jake was such a wonderful human being, and all around man who loved his people with everything in him. He made it very clear that he wasn't going anywhere, he was there till the very end. He didn't care about whatever mountain there was to climb, Charlie and her kids were more than worth working through the problem for. This man literally took his whole being and put it into everything he did when it came to Noah and Meadow. He showed them the love he was never showed and they showed it back 10 fold! My heart ❤️ was so full during this book! I couldn't have loved 💕 Jake more for this family. He made this family so much better for being in it.

Charlie is such a beautiful soul 💖. I loved her heart so much. She truly felt every small thing and wanted to make sure that she went through every scenario to make sure that she was doing best by Noah and Meadow. Even of she wasn't do best for herself. Bless her, she struggled with the games that her ex played with her mind. He played her like a fiddle and wanted nothing but the worst for her because she was no longer his. 👿 I found so much of myself in Charlie when she was trying so hard to do the best by her kids and everyone. But unfortunately that isn't always possible, but she already had the best option in front of her, Jake.

Charlie and Jake's love story ❤️  was like no other. They shared so much that couldn't be found with anyone else. They were the yin to each others yang. They were the balm to each others wounds. I loved this whole family and book so freaking much ❤️.

I absolutely cannot wait to see where the next book will take us if we get one!

🔥 Let's Talk About Sex Baby 🥵: 🌶️🌶️.75 /5

Wooton Y'ALL 🥵🥵🥵 Jake and Charlie had the CHEMISTRY ⚗️! They were so hot 🔥! We had some soft Dom moments, You're Min  coming out frequently. I love me a possessive man, honey. We got some hand Necklaces, along with him telling her when she can O! Like yes Daddy!! I was WAITING for her to call him Daddy. But alas it never happened. But that's totally okay because these two were absolue FIRE 🔥 in the bedroom, countertop, shower just to name a few 🤪.

Happy publication day to Seal the Deal by Hailey Rodger!!!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from Luna Literary Management and the author, and listen. This book was ADDICTIVE. I am a sucker for sports romance books, but I think this one might top the list. I'm so glad I listened to Uncle Gary on Threads (IYKYK) 🥹🩷

Seal the Deal follows the story of Thea and Jake. They met and fell in love while they were camp counselors one summer as teenagers, but life, being the cruel mistress that she is, pulled them apart. Cut to now: Thea is a single mom who has just moved herself and her two amazing kiddos from New Zealand to Colorado so she can work in marketing at a great new job and get away from her toxic ex. Jake is a star hockey player for the Colorado Storm. Thea and Jake reconnect through their mutual friend/marketing agent, Zoe, and the rest is kind of history 😉

Seal the Deal is my favorite kind of romance because it's real and there are problems (because of course there are!!!) but Thea and Jake communicate with each other so well. From the beginning, Jake is all in, and that means with Thea AND Thea's kids, too. Jake Brooks is the best protective cinnamon roll MMC that I've read in SO LONG, and his interactions with Thea's kids make my heart melt. ALSO there are some intense hockey scenes which really put this at the top of the list for sports romances.

➡️ 4.75 stars ✨

Seal the Deal is absolutely for you if you want:
🏒 A bad*ss single mom FMC
🏒 A protective cinnamon roll MMC
🏒 Two amazing kiddos
🏒 Excellent communication
🏒 Second chance sports romance
🏒 Found family
🏒 Interesting uses for a brownie

Go get a copy of Seal the Deal (it's even available on KU!!!). You won't regret it.

✨️Arc Review✨️
🌶🌶🌶.5

This debut by Hailey has actually blown me away. She really is setting up this series quite lovely because this was sweet and funny, and I absolutely fell in love with Charlie, her kids, and Jake.

The story starts so adorabley with Charlie and Jake at camp 12 years ago, friends, but wanting more just never taking that step. Coming full circle 12 years later when Charlie and her two children, Noah and Meadow, move to the States from New Zealand after she accepts a job. (Moving away from her unattentive horrible ex😒) Charlie and Jake run into one another
at his NHL hockey game with the chemistry still there 12 years later, sparks fly.

Charlie has been through it marriage, divorce, and raising her kids alone even though her ex is still around. She's a bit defeated when we find her, and I felt so bad for this sweet human. I kept rooting for her and the kids' happiness the entire book. Her and the kids truly deserve the world.

ENTER Jake🥵😮‍💨this man is husband material and such a cinnamon roll and absolutely in love with Charlie. He has continued for the past 12 years to remember his time at camp with Charlie doodling stars in his journal, thinking of her. When he meets her kids, he instantly falls for them, and their bond was something so special in this book. Noah and Jake
stole my heart. He instantly became a new favorite MMC.

This is second chance, and healing and found family done to perfection. can't wait to see where Hailey takes us in the next book in the series! I have a feeling Chase and Zoe are going to deliver us something special. I'm a sucker for the goofy reformed playboy.

Wow, wow, wow!
Who’d have thought I’d be so down bad for the most romantic love story I’ve ever read? I was lucky enough to ARC read this book, and I’m obsessed! I’ve been telling all my friends about it in person so they’re hyped to read it too!!

Jake completely stole my heart with his unwavering certainty, and Charlie’s journey was so deeply relatable as a single mum who just wants the best for her kiddo’s.
The emotional depth in their story had me hooked from start to finish.

The way the past and present weave together is beautifully done, adding so much richness to their connection. It really helped me understand the protagonists more, especially Jake and his connection with Noah.

The spice is spicy (in the best way) the characters are well fleshed out, each have their own unique personality, Charlie is so brave, strong willed and determined, and so is Jake but for totally different reasons. They have been very cleverly written and it’s a true shock that this is a debut novel.

This book kept me on edge in the best way—there’s one chapter in particular that had me on tenterhooks (IYKYK). The only reason it wouldn’t be a full 5 stars for me (it’s more like a 4.75) is that one subplot left me with a few lingering questions.

One thing I absolutely love about this generation of authors is the way they write amazing communication storylines. The way these characters listen, hold space for each other, and navigate challenges feels so real and refreshing. Jake isn’t afraid of hard conversations, and sometimes, that kind of bravery is exactly what’s needed.

I can’t wait for the second book and to dive into the next couple’s story—I just know it’s going to be just as addictive!
