CHRISTIAN FICTION THAT TAKES YOU ON A POWERFUL JOURNEY!
Knowing the emperor strikes disloyal provinces with drought, Avi must journey to the world capital to win the girl he loves and save his village from a forced famine before it’s too late.
MORE ABOUT AVI'S JOURNEY
Avi can’t talk to girls, which really complicates his plan to marry the prettiest one in town. His only hope is an arranged marriage, but before his father will arrange it, he challenges him to make a pilgrimage to the capital, the center of the world, and home of the worldwide emperor. The pressure builds when Avi discovers that his province is toying with rebellion against the emperor, and will soon be struck with a forced drought. Avi’s trip may be the only thing that stands between their way of life and a devastating famine. The challenges he faces, the people he meets, and the wonder he shares change him forever.

This book is a great fantasy book in all the right ways! It is refreshingly open about its theological basis as a story of God’s free grace set within the context of a coming Kingdom, but it doesn’t sacrifice the quality of a well crafted story for a watered down religious narrative - it can walk and chew gum too! As such, it is able to carry any fan of the sci-if/fantasy genre with a story line that draws you in through an adventurous and imaginative plot.
I’m really glad I gave it a read, and I’m sure you’ll like it too!
I tried. I read 47 percent before I finally gave up. The writing style wasn’t to my taste but I pushed on because the story was strong enough to keep my interest but so many typos and poor word choice got through that I felt like I stopped at least once per chapter to edit the book in my head in order to understand where it was going and since I picked this book for entertainment, I don’t feel the effort is worth it to me. If it gets a good edit and an updated version, I might just try again.
The story is unique, something rarely seen these days. The story took a long time to get going, but once it did, it was enjoyable. I would like to see more world building and less telling of the story, with an increase of showing through dialogue, description, and action. These are books such as 'Show don't tell that can help the writer to learn this important skill. I would like to see more books set in this world.
A great read! I saw this book pop up on Amazon for free and was intrigued and am so glad I got it. I am not as educated on the Millennial Kingdom as I should be but this book has inspired me to study more and also has given me even more of a desire to share Jesus with the world around me right now. Would definitely recommend and plan to share with it 10 and 12 year old boys who are very into fantasy.
Wow! Lucas Kitchen is definitely my new favorite author! This book filled my spirit with so much joy! As a creator, I love the truth and importance of shining our light (Jesus) through our creative gifts! The light, love, and joy make this an amazing feel-good book! I also love the example set for our relationship with the King!
This book inspired me, with every page, to pursue a closer relationship with Jesus! After reading this, I can’t wait to experience the millennial reign of Christ. The author opened my mind to possibilities I had not considered. Read it! You won’t regret it!
What an awesome tale of what is to come. The author brings the millennial reign of Jesus to life and I could not put the book down. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed the characters especially Avi who often felt less than able which struck close to home. The story pulls you in while connecting with the characters.
I got my copy for free but the opinion is my own. A work of fiction, telling the story of a "young" man coming of age as a result of a pilgrimage during the millennial reign of Jesus.
I knew that this was a Christian book when I began reading it, but I didn’t realize that it was not just a book in which Christian values were adhered to. The overall story is okay, but it felt a bit heavy handed and read more like a catechism than an adventure.
This story adaptation of the millennium reign of Christ is beautiful. The story made me think and reflect on my stewardship of the gifts that God is giving me. It’s a wonderful read well written and enjoyable.
