やさしくも、せつない。この物語は、心にそっと寄り添ってくれる。

最愛の弟が急死した。29歳の誕生日を祝ったばかりだった。姉の野宮薫子は遺志に従い弟の元恋人・小野寺せつなと会うことになる。無愛想なせつなに憤る薫子だったが、疲労がたたりその場で倒れてしまう。
実は離婚をきっかけに荒んだ生活を送っていた薫子。家まで送り届けてくれたせつなに振る舞われたのは、それまでの彼女の態度からは想像もしなかったような優しい手料理だった。久しぶりの温かな食事に身体がほぐれていく。そんな薫子にせつなは家事代行サービス会社『カフネ』の仕事を手伝わないかと提案する。

食べることは生きること。二人の「家事代行」が出会う人びとの暮らしを整え、そして心を救っていく。

The younger brother who had the smile of an angel and was loved by everyone he met. He just passes away - as if in his sleep. Things are not what it seems. Human being can’t really never understand each other even if you are family .. you can’t take things for granted. When you are too tired and have no strength to go on it could be just one home cooked meal cooked with real thoughtfulness and care and a clean comfortable space that give that person strength to keep going. That’s what Kafune provided. It was the girl who probably most needed that help that was saving the brother and sister. There’s few more things I want to say but it could be spoilers. It was a great read.

温かい気持ちになり、美味しいものが食べたくなるお話。心や体が弱った時は食べ物だよね〜と思い出させてくれました。柚木さんの『BUTTER』と同時期に読んだのも良かった。

世間から良しとされる女性としての幸せを追い求めることを親に押し付けられ、期待に沿って生きてきたにもかかわらずそれが報われずに唯一自分を愛してくれる存在だったはずの弟を失い、更年期の感情の波に苦しみながら生きていく主人公の辛さが痛いほど伝わってくる作品だった。ただ、痛みを持つ者同士が互いに支えあいながら生きていく展開は少しありきたりで展開も少しCheesy。この凡庸さから星はマイナス１。

久しぶりに本を読んで泣いてしまった。色んな社会問題がぎっしり1冊に詰め込んであるけども、ふんわり、優しい気持ちになれる本。他人に優しくなれる本。ボランティア偉大さ。支え合う大切さ。支える人、支えられる人、傷つく人、傷つける人、認める人、認められる人-全てバランスが絶妙に取れていてこその人生。

I love this book because I can reflect myself on this woman.
