What if love is the key to all the stars aligning?

Book Three of A Conclave of Crimson: A Queer Vampire Romance picks up where Book Two ends and brings the events of a gathering of vampires to a dramatic conclusion.

Teal and Éric have exactly what they fought for — a chance at life together. But all hard-won conflicts come with a cost, especially of the heart, and the fallout has left Teal separated from his brothers, Gabriel and Moth, now back in the inhospitable fortress called Gehenna.

Éric, though head over heels in love with Teal, the ethereal young vampire with witch blood in his veins, has his own trauma — how to navigate the dynamics of his rapidly-evolved relationship with Vauquelin: now their romantic ties have been severed, and they all must live under the same roof.

But the boys are not the only ones trying to come to terms with the new normal that has ripped them apart. Clove must make a crucial decision. There’s a question he will pose to Vauquelin…the answer to which would rock the core of the vampire world.

A Conclave of Crimson is a Gothic, queer, horror romance trilogy with strong, dark academia vibes: it unites two literary vampire worlds (Gabriel Davenport and Beguiled by Night) into a multiverse, but can be read as a standalone. There’s more if you want it…

For fans of The Night Circus, Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, and The Song of Achilles, A Conclave of Crimson offers a unique character driven exploration of love, jealousy, and the dark magnetism of immortal desire.

Nicole Eigener is the author of Beguiled by Night: A Vampire Tale (Polidori Press, 2020) and Citizens of Shadow: Beguiled by Night Book Two, in which Vauquelin’s story continues. They are also co-author, with Beverley Lee, of Crimson is the Night: A Vampire Novelette and the novel series A Conclave of Crimson: A Queer Vampire Romance Trilogy (on sale now), featuring a meeting of characters from Lee’s Gabriel Davenport series and the Beguiled By Night series.

Nicole is a lifelong student of French history and the macabre. Their love for haemovores became a beautiful marriage to their obsession with French culture, specifically of the seventeenth-century, which (along with themes of historical queerness) features prominently in their work. When they aren't writing, they are most likely editing, reading, dreaming about male vampires kissing, trying to avoid the sun, and/or desperately missing Parisian cafés and rainy walks through Père Lachaise cemetery.

Nicole writes in Southern California...for now. Visit their website for book extras including French pronunciations and a soundtrack.

This is the final instalment of the Conclave trilogy and I can say without hesitation that it is my favourite of the three. If you've read my reviews of the previous two books, I have praised the pacing of these books and this one is no different. There is a lot of movement, not just within the plot but in other ways that I won't spoil, and it keeps you reading through the turns trying to guess where it will go next. It's such a fast read because there is a lot going on but it feels like a rollercoaster in the best way.

The arch of the characters is probably the best part of the book. I would say that if you haven't read the previous two in the series, I would highly recommend it first. The book is the final one in this story and I will praise the authors for really making sure that the callbacks to the previous books were clear but without having read the previous two books, I think that the reader will be robbed of the opportunity to see the growth of the characters and really get the full experience of the emotional pay off. There's a lot that comes to light in this part of the story and seeing all those pieces connect is a huge part of the satisfaction that I don't think would mean as much without the context.

For the spice lovers, you have much to look forward to. Because of the aforementioned movement in the plot, there is a lot going on around the intimate scenes, but rest assured, if you have come here looking for the high heat, you will still find plenty of it and the authors will not leave you wanting. That said, there is a lot of really tender moments between as well that will draw on your emotions, so be prepared in a lot of ways for that rollercoaster to take you to places you might not have expected.

This series is a blending of two worlds but it ends up being a world of its own, rewriting its own rules in a way that has a brilliant conclusion and does so with a flair for the dramatic. If you like lush prose, you probably already have read the previous two and will be delighted to know that this lives up to their high standards. If you enjoyed the drama of the series so far, or if you are someone who wants a romance that keeps the tension high, you will love where this takes you. The authors have set their world apart from any other vampire stories you know and even if you see shades of influences, these three books really do establish these seven characters as all their own. I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good, lush, bombastic vampire drama, complete with all the beauty and intimacy that you could want.

This book was kindly given to me as an ARC by the authors. It has been my privilege to give this book and the previous two a fair and honest review.

Beyond grateful to have had the chance to read this book in advance, hence thanks from the bottom of my heart to the authors who made it possible. 🥹

I am happy to report that I have loved this book to pieces. I am extremely satisfied with the development of the story and the characters, even though at the beginning it’s been a little hard.

I was a little wary because the second book felt like it was too slow but rushed at the same time, however, this last instalment gave the series the perfect ending.
In retrospect, I would say that the fact that the second book fell a little flat was for me a blessing. This one was a hell of a rollercoaster and the in-depth analysis of the characters in the previous book helped to understand and make things work perfectly in here.

I loved the dynamics, the exploration of identity and individuality, I loved loved loved loved loved the fact that Flynn had more on-page time because he’s an amazing character and deserved every single word the authors dedicated to him.

I resonated deeply with V. He had my heart this time around (although second to Moth because Moth is my one and only) and the hard path he had to navigate was extremely challenging even for me. My heart broke for V, but healed with him and I am forever grateful for this too.

Moth is Moth is Moth and I loved how the authors compared V to a flame, a bright fire, and Moth to… a moth. It was clear how much these two are kindred spirits and there isn’t anything that could give a better picture than this. I am thrilled to see where the future brings them (because I refuse to accept that this is it, you know?)

Clove and Gabe are the sweetest and the best found family ever. I love what they created and how well it mixed with V and Éric despite the hardships. I think that V, Clove and Gabe are a powerful trio and the foundation of all balances, including my own mental peace 😂 there is a little bit of each of them in each of us and it’s undeniable. Seeing how Clove and Gabe’s bond fortified made my entire week.

I am still not sure about Teal and Éric, mostly because in my brain Teal is… Teal. And considering the topics brought forward in the previous books, his development here felt a little rushed and I for some reason didn’t resonate with him as much. It broke my heart but it’s also true that it’s always been like this, even from the original trilogy Teal belongs to. I love Teal and I love Éric, yet my heart and soul belong elsewhere and it’s a love so consuming it doesn’t have space for anyone else.
I have to say though, that I am happy with how things turned for these two sappy babies 🥹 they grew on my and now I need to protect them with the same fierce energy that Gabe and Moth bring to the table when it comes to them two.

This was a powerful book, even more than the first one. I loved the points the authors discuss, the story itself and the found family they all build together. The secondary characters (Flynn) are even more special and somehow they are the key to make everything work and make the story complete.
It is also astonishing: You can easily see that even though they are all vampires, they still hold on to a human part deep inside of them and the authors are amazing in making the reader empathise with supernatural creatures dealing with every day life and challenges.
It is comforting, a light in the dark that screams that you’re not alone, that there’s happiness after the struggle and that not all things are meant to be, nor meant to be happy endings. It is a reminder that we are one even when alone and that we are an even stronger unit when surrounded by love.
Love is powerful, a force that defies time and mortality and fate. It comes in many shapes and when we least expect it. And more importantly, it’s always within ourselves, even during the darkest of the nights.

My only regret this time around has been with the explicit scenes, which as always are delicate and extremely passionate, but I was not in a frame of mind that allowed me to appreciate them as I usually would. But it has nothing to do with the authors abilities to write about passion and love and intimacy with such depth and respect and gentleness. It’s just me on the aroace spectrum and I just wish I had appreciated them as I did in all the other books, so I could experience the full package of emotions.

I guess my fangirling over Flynn is a good compromise 😂 I did enjoy that waaaaay too much! Might even start writing fanfic about him to satiate my need to have more of this character.

I also really hope this third book is actually the beginning of something more, perhaps the scene for a future series of adventures that our friends will have to deal with together? Maybe dangerous and scary, that keep you up at night and on the edge of your seat?
Perhaps a spin off on Moth and Flynn as a balsam to my soul, the same one I sold to Moth on his first appearance on page?
Who knows. Dreaming is free and so is giving ideas to two amazing people who generated in my an insatiable hunger for more and more of their works.

This is the third and final(?!) book in the Conclave of Crimson vampire series and friends, this one had me absolutely hooked from start to finish!

This series needs to be read in order (so if you haven’t read the first two, go do that now!) and I think this was a perfect wrap up of the trilogy, which still leaves plenty of space to explore future storylines, should the authors decide to do so!

This series is heavily character-driven, following a group of seven vampires over the space of roughly two weeks as their worlds collide and their bonds with each other break and form. The writing is beautifully atmospheric and full of lush imagery and sweeping prose.

After Eric meets his soulmate, Teal, he is afraid that it will alienate is previous lover and maker, V. He and Teal are living under V’s roof in Paris and the tension is palpable, especially when Moth, Gabe, Clove and Flynn return home to the UK. But Clove has a plan that will mean the Bloody Little Prophets can be together forever, as well as uniting the three master vampires who watch over them…

This book focuses a lot on the new bond formed between Teal and Eric and dang, these baby vampires are completely in love with each other and they show it in all the ways they know how 😏🥵

I loved this conclusion to the series and I really hope we get to see more of this coterie; particularly Flynn who we see more glimpses of in this book, and I am intrigued to say the least!

A Conclave of Crimson book 3 wraps up this gothic, dark academia-infused trilogy with all the drama, tension, and yearning I could have hoped for.

The writing is rich and atmospheric, totally giving Anne Rice meets The Night Circus vibes. The romance is messy, the emotions are raw, and the world is so immersive I didn’t want to leave. If you love queer vampire stories filled with longing, betrayal, and gothic decadence, you need this book in your life. A stunning, dramatic conclusion to an unforgettable series!

I was lucky to be given an ARC copy of this book the third (and final?) of A Conclave of Crimson. So here is my honest review. I try not to give spoilers but sometimes it’s impossible. This book touched me in a different way than the previous two. It started very dark and focused on the fulminating love between Éric and Teal and their ignoring of V… I didn’t like that and was glad when they realised they owed V their happiness and made an effort to let V know they cared for him. V struggles with seeing these two so obviously immersed into each other but tries to be the better vampire. Teal misses his brothers and they all miss him. Eventually Clove takes them back to Paris and their reunion finally makes them complete. The Masters’ plan to form a coterie with the seven of them including Flynn and ask them if they agree. Without the need to think long about creating this new family, they all agree. And their vows to each other are just beautiful and my heart sings. La Coterie des Sept Étoiles is formed thus joining the two coteries, sworn to protect each other and to look out for each other. They are finally happy together as a coterie but mostly as the family which they’ve been craving for. A sense of finally belonging of loving and being loved. Nothing like this has ever happened in the vampire world. This union is bound to soon be murmured into the Bloodvyne… They all need to take care and watch the reactions…
There is a lot more in this book but I’ve already given so much away so no more spoilers.
As I said at the beginning, this book was very dark for most of it. Inner struggles, unintentional deceit, selfishness… I could go on. The light came into this story when Clove, Gabriel and Moth (oh Moth) went back to Paris to stay. You can feel the joy in these beautiful boys and your own heart feels this joy as they have all become part of your heart such is the talent of these two writers. I know this is a book. But the writing is superb and so vivid and you get immersed in it all even if you don’t want to. I hope there’s more to come or I’ll be missing them - Clove, Gabriel, Moth, Teal, Éric, Vauquelin and Flynn. These 3 books are part of my best reads of 2024 and now 2025. Superb story telling from Beverley Lee and Nicole Eigener.

While it’s sad to see this trilogy end, I was excited to see how things ended from the second book. The lore to this series and the world created is honestly so cool. It’s like walking into an old gothic mansion with shadows in every corner but the dark and gloomy atmosphere is somehow comforting.

The characters bring the light into this book. The relationship development is wonderful, there is heartbreak, healing, and love all throughout. There is also a lot of spice, which felt a lot more loving in this book. The characters mainly Teal and Éric had a lot of things to work through but they found such great comfort with each other; their spicy moments were a bit more endearing and heartfelt in this book compared to the last; it showed so well how far their relationship had progressed and how they became each other’s comfort person.

And of course, I loved seeing more of Moth, he’s still my favorite character so I was happy when he made a few appearances. Overall, I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a dark academia-like atmosphere with gay vampires, high spice, and well rounded characters.

A big thank you to the authors for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A fitting end to this trilogy, as it leaves the doors open for more (hello Flynn and Vauquelin, was there something going on right at the end? I can only imagine how chaotic these two would be if they embarked on a hunting trip of their own...)
These books are character driven, so if you're looking for intricate plots, forget it, this is not where you'll find that, this is an exploration of the human soul - even if the characters are all vampire.
I was left with a few questions I'd hoped to see answered, and am now convinced I was the one who missed something (read this book twice to make sure, but I still couldn't find the specifics I was looking for, so I may have to go back and read the previous instalments) but I have to say that, of all the characters Moth remains the one I identify myself with the most. Moth is that one particular individual who is just... Moth. Common as pebbles, Moth flitters around a group of people who are all special in their own ways, while he remains the common one (his heterocromia does not make him special) for he lacks what the others have (Gabriel and Clove are the Necromancers, Teal is half vampire half witch, Vauquelin used to time-travel and has been alive for a long, long time, Flynn has an uncanny way of sorting out their shit. I still don't know what makes Éric special, but since book 1 it has been stated countless times just how special he is, so this is the bit that I'm convinced I've missed something - I was hoping for answers on this book, but didn't get them, perhaps they rest in a previous one and I failed to register). But Moth, he is just Moth, and if you've spent your life being that person who has nothing particularly amazing going for them, who has no particular talents, who is common and forgetable but exists in the midst of truly amazing people who shine brighter than the sun, then you will indeed relate to Moth, like I do. He's mean, petty, loyal to a dot, envious and jealous, very possessive and terrified of losing those he loves for the fact he is just not special and they just met very special people. He lives in dread of being replaced, and how does he deal with it? Becomes more rebellious, more difficult, more possessive, antagonising those he feels are a threat to him. I usually find myself in Moth, and not in a good way, but this is why I believe he's one of the best characters ever written. Flynn has also left a strong impression on me if only for the fact this damn vampire is elusive AF and a total mystery.
If you're into character driven studies of the human soul, this series is for you.
