Slow-burn sexual tension explodes into passion amid adventure and intrigue in Evie St. John's debut novel featuring the Grim Security team.

For decades, aliens called Controllers have created a gambling empire out of turning their ancient enemy's planet into a gladiatorial stage. Over the years, other races have been made slaves and pitted against each other in a variety of cruel games where survival and slaughter tend to be the only rules. Humans from Earth have fallen in and out of fashion with the bettors. The Bounty Hunters come seeking new Fighters to sell, and they couldn't pass up mercenary Jeremiah Cole.

The MercJeremiah, known to his team as Grim Reaper, has been plucked out of his familiar surroundings and dropped onto an alien world where if the brutal gladiatorial games don't kill him, the planet just might. A man focused on always working, he left his painful family history behind him. What happens when he's not able to keep chasing the next job with his chosen family?

The CourtesanSeraph has only known the life of an enslaved courtesan and is gifted to the newest fighter. Knowing mostly pain, he brings happiness into her life which she's not willing to give up without a fight. Will she be able to convince him that her life is better with him than without for however long they may have together?

The mercenary and the courtesan will need to work together to survive without letting their pasts get in the way of their future.

The Merc and the Courtesan is for mature audiences only (18+) and includes graphic language, violence, and sex. Trigger warning list included. If swearing, detailed sexual encounters, violence, and other triggers bother you, this book probably isn't for you. But if you don't mind gruff, buff heroes who swear and headstrong heroines, this book may be what the doctor ordered.

Mind blown! I am not generally an avid sci-fi genre reader but this book was so fun. Just thought of all these parts being imagined like the scenes being quite vivid is crazy. What kind of mind creates these things? It was a super easy read as well. I would try to read a chapter every night but always ended up 4 chapters further because I didn’t want to stop. I plan to read the next 2 books in this series.

The story line is a fun and interesting twist. It's an easy read, making it the perfect kind of book to curl up with on the couch. There were a couple of parts I had to push myself through, but enough half open story lines that im excited to see where these Merc's will lead.
