Book: Aghori 2: The Untold Journey

Author: Mayur Kalbag

Review: 'Aghori 2: The Untold Journey' is the riveting sequel to the bestselling Aghori: The Untold Story. This spiritual adventure follows Subbu as he returns from the Himalayas, having received three powerful mantras from the enigmatic Aghori sadhus. The story focuses on the daunting task of transferring these mantras to his guru, a journey fraught with challenges from spirits and mysterious creatures. Along the way, Subbu encounters telepathic starfish, a massive Naga, and the profound wisdom of the Aghoris. The book combines mysticism, spiritual exploration, and captivating storytelling to offer readers an extraordinary glimpse into the esoteric world of the Aghoris.

I was fascinated by the book’s vivid portrayal of the mystical realm and its seamless blend of spirituality and adventure. The detailed descriptions of the Aghori sadhus’ wisdom, their interactions with Subbu, and the surreal encounters with otherworldly beings made for an enthralling read. The telepathic communication with the starfish and the Naga’s imposing presence added an imaginative and thought-provoking layer to the narrative.

The book's pace is engaging, and its spiritual undertones left me reflecting on themes of inner strength and the pursuit of higher wisdom.

Aghori 2: The Untold Story Continues is a sequel to Aghori: An Untold Story.

In first part of the book 3 powerful mantras were embedded in Subbu. And also it talked about Subbu's meeting with the Aghori Sadhu's. And now in second part you get to read how these mantras are extracted and transferred to Subbu's guru and how Subbu gets to interact with more of extraordinary Aghoris.

I have already read and reviewed the first part. And i was pretty excited to know what the 2nd part has to offer. So when i started the book i had huge expectations. I thought this will be better than the first part. But sad to say that 2nd part just didn't live upto my expectations. The story felt monotonous and i couldn't connect with the narrative. I was struggling to keep myself engaged in reading this. I gave many chances to this book as to something interesting will come up. But nothing could revive my interest. It felt slow paced and the scenes all felt highly unbelievable to engage me and also the character development is poor. The spiritual and mystical world portrayed by the author surely made me think if something like this really exists..and although yes i got to know much about Aghoris, i think the narrative could have been better to immerse the readers.

aghori 2 the untold story by mayur kalbag

genre : spiritual supernatural fiction

My 💭:
[5/4/25 7.27 PM]

Everytime I read a book from 'Aghori' series, I'm transported to a world where ANYTHING is possible. It's a world far beyond the realms of possibility yet present just within our grasp if we looked for it.

Absolutely loved reading and experiencing this book. Along with Subbu I got to know so much about the mystical powers and secrets of Nature. Never in my wildest imagination could I come up with the kind of rituals described in this book. Like swimming with a ghost who was your friend in a past life or bonding with a serpent queen having human eyes or telepathically communicating with a starfish 😵. And the level of trust portrayed in this book omg! I wish I had a spiritual guide like Swamiji too! Honestly, while writing this review I'm almost feeling emotional and sad that THIS is what I want to experience from life and that this mystical world is the "real" life. What I'm living so far does not resemble a life at all. One day, maybe, I'll try to seek out this spiritual path as well...

Ah what a book! A big thanks to author for bringing the life of 'Aghori' sages to light by creating this book and this series. And yes, this time as well, I'm not quite ready to accept that this is fiction. Loved it! 💯

Aghori 2: The Untold Story Continues attempts to build on the gripping foundation laid by its predecessor, diving deeper into the esoteric world of Aghoris, Tantrism, mysticism, and Indian spirituality. It ventures into territories rarely explored in mainstream literature, offering readers a lens into the arcane practices and inner philosophies of the Aghori path.

However, as a sequel, it doesn’t quite live up to the narrative strength and cohesion of Aghori 1. This second installment feels more like a loose narrative exploration than a structured story. Several chapters seem forcefully stitched together, almost like standalone essays or thought fragments which at times disrupt the flow of the book. Character development takes a backseat, and some plotli`nes feel undercooked or abruptly inserted.

Despite its structural flaws, the book has a certain raw magnetism. Its strength lies in the vivid portrayal of the spiritual and mystical aspects of the Aghori tradition. The philosophical depth, the inner conflicts, and the spiritual surrender required on this path are all captured with sincerity. It challenges mainstream perceptions and provokes deep introspection, which is rare.

Recommended for readers curious about Aghoris and Indian mysticism, but best approached with moderated expectations regarding plot and storytelling finesse.

Mayur Kalbag’s Aghori series attempts to blend spirituality, mysticism, and adventure, but ultimately falls short in delivering a compelling narrative. While the books introduce readers to the enigmatic world of the Aghori sect, their execution feels uneven. The prose lacks the depth needed to truly immerse readers in the protagonist’s transformative journey. Character development is superficial, making it difficult to connect with their struggles and growth.

Additionally, the philosophical aspects, though intriguing, often feel forced rather than seamlessly integrated into the plot. The pacing is inconsistent, with some sections dragging unnecessarily while others rush through potentially rich themes. While Aghori may appeal to those curious about spiritual fiction, it doesn’t quite reach its full potential due to its lack of narrative finesse and depth.

A sequel to the first book. A lot of it seems like a fascinating tale. None the less a gripping story.
