Botched: to fail in attempting a scripted move or spoken line by miscalculation, mistake, or error in judgment.

Aurora Bennet wants to be a professional wrestler. She’s been grinding on the independent wrestling circuit, trying to get her name out there. So far, nothing. She knows that one day she’s going to get there.

Theodore Abrams has made it. He’s the world champion. He’s on TV weekly. He’s rich. He’s…well, he’s not beloved. Theodore plays a bad guy on TV, but it’s not just his character. He really is that awful.

After their paths cross one night, Aurora swears that she never wants to see him again. But when her dream job comes calling and the condition is she has to work with Theodore, she has hopes that maybe it won’t be that bad. Maybe they just got off on the wrong foot.

Spoiler he is and they didn’t.

All she has to do is survive this storyline, earn her contract and put Theo in her rearview.

ARC review

I adored this book so much, it was so good.
Theo is an as*hole, that is never not in question, he never denies it. But the way he cares about Roo and would do anything for her, really got to me. He knows he's the villain, she knows it too and she loves him despite that. She sees behind the tough exterior and as*hole attitude, she sees someone worth loving and someone that loved hard. She had a dificult time accepting that love but eventually she did.
Theo was hard to love at first but by the end of the end, I was sold. That man was in love before he realized it and didn't try to change that.
I just loved them together, they really worked

really liked and enjoyed!!!
Indigo Queen does great with building this fictional wrestling world and writes the scenes for it so well! She makes it a lot easier to understand what's going on than one would think for scenes in the ring to simple backstage interviews. My only complaint was I felt like the first get together on Theo's birthday was sudden, if there had only been one more chapter before it would have been golden! After reading the epilogue I found myself wishing I got more of Roo and Theo together!!! Loved seeing Theo and Tobias together and knowing he was making progress at the end!! This was my first wrestling sports romance and I am so hooked! A very smooth, easy, and enjoyable read! I love a will they won't they vibe and seeing the two pros go from wanting/hating to reluctant friends to a great couple!

Botched is an instalment of the Breaking Kayfabe series by Indigo Queen.

Botched is where professional wrestling meets romance as our FMC, Aurora Bennet, is climbing the ranks as an aspiring wrestler. Theodore Abrams, our MMC, is at the top of his game as world champion. When Aurora and Theodore meet, it is very much a one-sided affair. Aurora immediately sees Theodore for who he is: a jerk who thinks he has the whole world in his hand. Whereas, Theodore immediately becomes fascinated with Aurora who is focused yet aloof.

I really don't like Theo. The opening of this book is basically him breaking up with his fiancée after she finds out he cheats on her. He shows no remorse and immediately moves on with his life as if it means nothing to him. I understand we are not supposed to like Theo to feed into the enemies-to-lovers trope, but wow he is insufferable.

Aurora is the saving grace of this book, to be honest. I like her as a character! She is career driven and knows what she wants. She doesn't give into Theo's demands despite him being in a higher position of power and influence. Theo eventually helps Aurora gain promotion, which she is grateful for, but she is still hesitant to befriend the man.

I grew up watching wrestling (and still do!) so I thought the elements of the industry and sport were the most interesting part of this story. I love Queen's writing style and the dialogue was done well. The pacing didn't affect my read either. I also feel as though the romance between Aurora and Theo was very lacklustre.

Overall, this book wasn't anything groundbreaking, but if you enjoy wrestling and are looking for something new to try, then definitely give this a chance!

Am I in my Wrestling Romance Era?

Indigo Queen is a wonderful writer. Theo and Rory were such wonderful characters to follow. Theodore’s character is raw and true to his faults which just makes him wonderfully relatable. I was already engrossed in this universe from reading Getting Color (and boy was that book everything), but this book was also just... Wow. The dual POV's are perfectly balanced, I didn’t feel as though I was missing out on part of the story because I got equal parts from both MC’s. The “not so much” character development was so fun to read. Theo and Roo are both honest and vulnerable with their true nature and it is shown through their actions and conversations between each other. It is truly a breath of fresh air. Although we get our HEA, there is no sugar coating the realness of two people who have baggage and admit their flaws. Theo doesn’t claim to be a good guy, and he does not change that core personality trait throughout the whole book. The villain gets the girl and I am all here for it.
On top of the main storyline taking place, I also really enjoyed reading about Roo's home life. I loved how much her father meant to her and the pages that captured her taking care of him were some of my favorite scenes.
A special recognition Rumour, that wonderful little fur ball💖
I cannot wait to read more from Indigo Queen.

Happy Release Day!!!

5/5☆'s 🌶🌶🌶 Spice Level.
Red flag level: -1,000
Green flag level: ♾️ aura

Despite being straight forward to being an (sorry for my language here) asshole. Theo is a green forest to me 😏 who doesn't love a man who changes his ways for his girl 😌. I just couldn't hate him especially cause he did more than most MMCs in other novels. (Might also have to do with the fact that I love when men are only soft for their girl 😅 yes yes I know I know I'm a red flag. Good thing my favorite color needs red to be created 😏).

Roo is the most interesting FMC I've read in a while. She's confident in herself but still shy. She works hard to reach her goals and despite her past she never gave up 🥹 I love this girly so much 😭

Overall I definitely recommend this one!! Especially if u love enemies to lovers (me me I love it!! *haha ofc I had to*) and wrestling 😏. This was my first book based on wrestling and boy was it 😮‍💨 (I'm talking about the storyline *cough cough Theo*)

I need this book to recieve all the love in the world because I desperately need this to be made into a series or a movie!! Like yesterday 😭

Thank you Indigo Queen for the copy I was screaming when I recieved it and all the goodies. I absolutely love the book and I'm so excited for your future books can't wait to read them!! (You've gained a fan and I'm glad I got to read your amazing work 🥹👏)

(Recieving bookmail did not alter my rating. I rate based on the story line, writing and characters (& how this book made me feel *I felt butterflies like girl me when 😭*))

"But we're not friends, Roo. You know that."

"Then what are we?"

"To be determined."

Theodore Abrams is a jerk. Plain and simple. He plays one on TV in the wrestling world, but it also translates to real life. Aurora Bennet has been working her tail off on the independent wrestling circuit, trying to break through to get a chance at the big leagues. Aurora meets Theo one night at an event, and she wants nothing to do with him. He wants her. When Aurora is finally given her chance to move up to the main event, she's excited beyond belief - until she learns that she is now teamed up with Theo. As I always say, I'm a sucker for good banter, and the banter between Aurora and Theo is fantastic. She does not give him any ground, does not let him get his way, regardless of how hard he tries and how many innuendos he throws her way. Theo is still a jerk throughout the book, but that facade begins to slip as he starts falling for Aurora. Especially during the thunderstorm. All of the wrestling scenes were done seamlessly, and fit the flow of the book. I grew up loving wrestling, and Botched is the perfect combination of banter, spice, spandex, and moonsaults. If you're a fan of forced proximity, enemies to lovers, he falls first, and wrestling, this is definitely one for you!

Botched is a wonderful enemies to lovers wrestling romance.

Theodore Abrams may be a total cocky jerk, but he has his moments where you forget he is the villain in this story. He is unapologetically himself. The moment he meets Aurora he is a goner. He just has to have her. Things don't go according to plan and his jerkish ways get the better of him. I loved that he just wanted to take care of Aurora and make her life better. His methods were a little unconventional.

Aurora Bennet is fierce and independent. Her dream has always been to be a professional wrestler. She finally gets the chance. Of course, it had to involve Theodore. I loved that she stood her ground with Theodore. She did take a little more time to trust and fall in love with Theodore. But it was worth the wait.

These two had so much tension and chemistry. They got under each other's skin and truly formed a beautiful connection. The banter between the two was also top tier. It was sarcastic and witty. Aurora definitely knew how to put Theodore in his place. I loved every minute of it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the wrestling aspect of this book. It was central to Theodores and Aurora love story. Indigo Queen made me want to know more about the world of professional wrestling.

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to Indigo queen for an ARC of this title.

From the start MMC is an asshole and he knows it. FMC is a rising star in an indie promotion. Their relationship begins with a rough start, Aurora pretty much hates Theo and they are forced to have a love interest storyline. She keeps telling herself she can fake it for her job and dreams of making it big, but their undeniable connection keeps pulling them closer and closer. The way the point of views from behind the scenes, cutting promos, and during and after matches is so amazingly written. Gives a depth feeling that is indescribable. If this was a real wrestling promotion I would be immediately sucked in, I can't wait to read more of this series! It was such a fun read in such a unique niche that has barely been done! Absolutely loved it!!

So, I saw this book on TikTok page and I was this seem like a good like romance novel to read so I took a chance on reading my first ever book by this author. LET ME TELL YOU EVERYONE that everybody should pick up this book to read it written so beautifully and it had be laughed out loud of the very couple of pages I could not put it down at all. I love the concept of this book because I don’t see that maybe romance story about wrestling and I freaking love it. The characters that are in this book were so perfect for each other and they kept each other on their toes that for sure. I love how he took care of her when she is very strong head but for good reason. I love their story and the ending of the story. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings out for the characters I can’t wait.

Thank you for the ARC!

Also this cover 😍

Okay wow!! The setting being wrestling is so different for a romance novel, but it works so well!! The enemies to lovers is so real in this & the tension was top tier. The MMC is a real ***hole, but I love how the FMC doesn't put up with it.
Reformed playboys are my favorite, and Theo did not disappoint. Aurora had so much spunk, & I love how she never gives up in her wrestling (& life) journey.

Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
Forced proximity
Cat dad
Wrestling
He falls first

This is an ARC review.I love wrestling and have been eager for a wrestling romance. So to this heel version of Cody Rhodes was great. The MMC Theo was a prick at first, but it was justified at times. I loved Aurora and would love to watch her in the ring. Side characters are also loveable. I wish the author would have included a character that explained how the picture came to be, i feel like that would have been great for supporting Aurora starting to feel something toward Theo. This was an easy read, and I love that it references so much wrestling.

absolutely loved it, as a God fearing woman the intimate parts had to be skipped over.

Great writing, adorable story. Thought that more could be done and kind of want more of their story. Also, skipping over the intimacy parts is not on the author, that’s my own situation, did not take away from the book, just means I probably missed some of the emotional aspects of some of it, still though. Great book!

Wow finally a book based on my favorite sport wrestling.
It was fun to follow Aurora's career from the beginning.
The wrestling background info was spot on although the term "Breaking Kayfabe" i
isn't one I am familiar with.
It was definitely a steamy book which isn't my cup of tea but the story sure was.
I did like the way the author brought her characters to life so quickly.

Absolutely amazing! So nice to read about a jerk MMC that is actually a jerk when the book starts. Watching Theo go from what seems to be an irredeemable start to who he is by the end of the book is a great journey. Aurora is such a badass and reading about these two falling in love is so so good. Also the wrestling is so well integrated (I say this as a lifelong wrestling fangirl.) I feel everything was done in a really well written organic way and can't wait to read more of this series!

*I was given an ARC copy of this book. All opinions are my own.*
