Many iconic brands—like Rolex, BMW, Louis Vuitton, and the New York Yankees—use logos designed over 100 years ago. Tracing the origins of the trademark and gathering more than 3,000 logos from the mid-1800s up to 1980, design expert Jens Müller’s exhaustive anthology is a must for anyone fascinated by the evolution of modern corporate identities.
Jens Müller was born in Koblenz, Germany, in 1982 and studied graphic design. Recipient of numerous national and international design awards, he is a partner of Vista design studio in Düsseldorf and professor of corporate design at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Excellent book on logo; it is more for watching than reading, but there are two texts about the history of logo in the beginning and modernism; there are also short introductions about styistic features like form, geometric, typographic, which themselves are divided according to characteristic features - one letter, two letter, round, white on dark and so on. There are few biographies in the end, and for me it is good that they are few, because the book is about logo, not biographies.
