A group of seven children from Stillwater County go on a trip to Granite Peak. Something they have done before but this time the trip turns into a dangerous twist and they all wonder if they can survive the mountains which are noted to have bears. One of the children is a diabetic and will the insulin pump last?
The parents along with the Forest Rangers form a search party after they have not returned home the first night. The second night more then 100 rescue trained professionals are looking and now the growing fear of are they alive or hurt is one everyones mind. They think they might of seen them but it is now dark and not in an easy area to reach. They think they might of seen something and so they throw down more then twelve backpacks of food, water, blankets, first aid kits and several insulin pumps. Luckily, one of them, Juliet is lucky to climb a dangerous tree and get some of the packages for them. They are now comfortable and decide they can rest a little easier that night.
By the third day the along with the National Guard they are all rescued and considering what they went thru only one of the boys suffered a leg injury, the other was treated for his diabetic condition but was ok.
On the one year anniversary so much has changed for each family, one of the boys fathers had died which was not a surprise as he had been lingering on. Another is having a baby while and will be getting a divorce. Another has moved to Denver to be closer to her family with one of her sons while the other son is working on a ranch for the summer. Another of the mothers is thinking of getting married and yet another couple who had divorced seem to each be moving on.
Losing a child can be a life changing event but even though they all survived each of the families impacted have suffered in different ways. Easy and fast read.
