Let it Happen

Rate this book
What happens when a single moment challenges everything you thought you knew about yourself?

For Jessica Brielle Westin, the answer to that was life-altering. As one of the most sought-after models in the country, it seemed she had everything. A-list parties, first-class flights, and designer everything was her reality. As amazing as those advantages were, her lifestyle’s biggest perk was the ability to live a complete lie. After enduring a long and trying health journey, Jess learned she would never be able to build her own family as she had always dreamed of. Resigned to her childless fate, she used her success to mask her longing for love. Most people who knew Jess would say she wasn’t the “settling-down type,” but Julian Tate would say they were a liar.

From the moment they had their first argument, Jess and Tate were drawn to each other. Their connection was beyond even their own comprehension but undeniable, nonetheless. Tate wanted her heart, but Jess was only willing to offer him her body. Her mouth told him she didn’t want a relationship, but her eyes told the truth—she was head over heels in love with him. Unwilling to allow Jess to play with his heart any longer, he cut her off completely, and that worked—until it didn’t.

One passion-filled night bonded them forever and reignited Jess’s belief in miracles. Now that her worst fears were behind her, would she finally surrender to the power of love? Or would she allow new challenges and dangers to cheat her out of forever?

4.5✨ “Let It Happen” was a story that stressed me to the max because the characters were so stubborn. Jessica and Julian reconnected on her birthday, and the tension and sparks were flying. The universe did its thing, and that one night changed everything for them. History be darned, Jessica was not going down without a fight, and I wanted to hold her hand while yelling for her to let that good man love her! Julian was so dreamy - the quintessential man who exuded strength, kindness, BDE, and a protective nature. Jessica was a model who was content with having fun and never settling down. I will say that I understood the ‘why’ behind Jessica’s behavior, and in a way, her story resonated with me. It has to be challenging to have the love of your life at your fingertips, but fear is holding you back. For Jessica, being told she would never have children due to fibroids made her feel less than worthy of being with someone of Julian’s caliber. Buuuut God!

The story was beautiful. It is a slow burn, but I think it was balanced. There was angst, spice, healing, and funny moments. I loved that Julian’s career with the FBI was intertwined in the story because it explained his character and why he went to many lengths to protect Jessica. I think both characters had their flaws, but they were better together. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride with this one, and I could feel the different emotions of the characters. My one concern was I still had questions about Valerie; there was an opportunity to explain the consequences of her actions on the page. Nonetheless, Jessica and Julian reached their HEA, and I loved that for them. Let It Happen was another fantastic addition to this author's catalog.

Friends to Lovers. Hookups to Relationship. Unplanned Pregnancy. Crazy Stalker. This book had it all.

Tate is all in on Jess he just needs to convince her to stop playing around and give them a true chance. Jess wants to be with Tate but has a medical issue that she's withholding that is preventing her to fully commit to him.

There is alot of 'will she won't she' from Jess that truly gets annoying as hell at some point. For the most part Tate is patient with her and allows her to come to terms with her feelings on her own.

Jess and Tate are a super cute couple with awesome friends and a loving family/support system.

Tate and Jess!!

The back and forth that Tate and Jess took me through while reading their book was definitely a thrill ride. I thought both of them were pigheaded and petty. They had a lot of passion between them but both were unsure if love was there as well. Jess did get on my nerves at certain points, and I was glad when she got herself together because she was about to let a good man get away because of her behavior. I loved how Tate and Jess finally admitted their love for each other. The way he called her pretty had my heart melting every time so I know it melted Jess' heart as well as other places. 😊 This book has everything a romance book needs - chemistry, passion, drama and humor. I also loved the friendships that were also included in the book. I need to go back and read the books of the other couples mentioned in the book so I will know how they got together too.

This book was a "will they won't they finally get some act right" slow burn that probably could have been shortened by at least an hours reading time, but was edited very well so that kept me engaged with the storyline. Communication could have solved 100% of the issues for Jess and Tate- especially Jess, because she was getting quite irksome as time progressed, and she allowed her insecurities lead. The author did touch on an important health issue that plagues many women, so that was interesting and commendable, and she also added touch of faith to make you feel good. There was a bit of drama and a lot of sexiness and several cameos from characters from her other books. Overall, this wasn't a difficult read, and with the exception of the MAC situation, issues were resolved relatively quickly between the characters.

10/10 do recommend!

These two been down bad for each other forever!

Jess and Julian couldn't be more perfect for each other or more in love. They were some knuckleheads though cause all those years wasted?! Come on now!

I loved everything about this book from the relationships and friendships, to the pining, the longing, the culture, the Blackness, it was all amazing!

Jaimsss P. Is really showing out!

They way she can combine Black Culture into romance in an authentic way and still hit all of the tropes I love and make them angsty is unmatched!

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have been waiting for this Story since A Love That Restores. Jessica has always been about her family and Davi. Jess doesn't play when it came to Davi, that is how her and Tate met. Two players not looking for love. Julian and Jessica have been doing this song and dance for 4 yrs. They love each other but someone is keeping them apart. Jessica is keeping a secret from Julian and keeps passing him away. Julian wants to build a life with her. I love how their love story played out. Great Job James's can't wait for your nest book.

So good

This book was so good. From the suspense to the steamy scenes, the enemies to lovers and friends with benefits, it had it all, including the sweet scenes. I loved how Julian went hard for Jessica, and she overcame her insecurities to find healing and love with him, and she gave him the same. Beautiful story of physical and spiritual healing.

Jessica and Julian have been friends with benefits for years, but Julian wants more. Julian loves Jessica and is ready to commit to her exclusively, but due to medical concerns Jessica shuts him down. Jessica feels broken and incomplete.
She feels like her fertility issues prevents her from being the woman Julian deserves, but all he wants is HER no matter what.
The only gripe about this book for me personally was the lack of background information on the stalker... I felt like I was missing the why in regard to that situation. However, despite this the story was still good and kept me engaged throughout the entire book.
As an author, I love that Jaimsss writes about normal characters with a soft girl type of love story. Sometimes I just want to read realistic stories with realistic people, and she does just that! Especially for the girlies who have real regular men that still stand on business.
Let It Happen was well written. I did not notice any grammatical errors, and the dialogue was easy to differentiate between characters.
