Yup, can't do it anymore. I've reached my limit. 😫

For someone who liked insta-love, I really couldn't get on board with this. These two went from 0 to 100 in a flash! Add in the eye-roll-inducing lines. I think those dialogues are supposed to be sweet/romantic, but they only came off as corny and cringey. I can't do it anymoooore. 😭 I've read way better novellas than this. 🫣

As for safety, I think this is safe, at least based on how far I've gotten. They both just got out of the relationship, more so the FMC, like literally a week ago. As for the MMC, I think it was only a few months. His ex cheated on him, that's why he traded teams.

And again, I want to emphasize this is insta-love right off the bat. This is especially true for the MMC. He said it was love at first sight for him. The FMC was attracted to him as well, but when they met, she was in a relationship with her crap boyfriend, so…

Also, ngl, while I know the ex-bf was awful, it still gave me the ick that she's having this attraction to someone else. Sure, her relationship sucks, but the point is, she's still in one. 😒

Anywaaay, if insta-love isn't your jam, you're probably not going to enjoy this. And once more, that's coming from someone who usually reads books with this kind of trope.

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
SPICE: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Welcome to the chat Ellie K Drake, nice to have you here! This was a fantastic hockey debut and I am GIDDY for what’s to come next… I love this team and these characters and I ate this book up!

ATE IT UP.

Hayes and Olivia are adorable and Hayes is my literal dream book boyfriend. This man is obsessed, and he’s a spicy little golden retriever who just wants to shower his girl with love. Ans Olivia, she deserves this journey after her tool bag of an ex.

✨ Hockey Romance
✨ Insta- Love
✨ Singer FMC
✨ Golden Retriever MMC
✨ Toys as Teammates
✨ No third act break up

Listen, I know I’m in the minority but I am a sucker for insta-love if it’s done right, because there is nothing more attractive than a man who meets a girl and goes “that one” and then spends the book proving it’s real. And that’s Hates and Olivia’s journey. I loved seeing her come into her own and show a little bit of her dominant side.

And let’s talk about the spice. Because it was so good. I was sweating and panting and then I was a puddle. RIP me. I am ☠️.

So if you are looking for a new hockey author that balance sweet and spicy so well, writes actual hockey and fills your pages with witty banter, then you need to read this!

Also I cannot wait for book 2.

I loved this book - it was sweet and funny and spicy. I really liked Olivia and Hayes - they had great chemistry right from the start. He was so sweet and supportive and completely swoon worthy. I really felt for Olivia when she got dumped by her ex…but wow, talk about an upgrade!

I loved that these characters were a little older and I definitely connected with them. I really enjoyed the banter and found myself laughing out loud several times. I will be on the look out for the next book in the series!

ARC REVIEW

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Ice Contact is the author’s first book, and I can honestly say I’m going to be a fan of her work because I really enjoyed this one.
If you want a book where the MMC is determined to show the girl that she deserves the best—she deserves to be loved, cared for, and appreciated for who she is—then this is for you.
Hayes has just moved to town and decides to go out for a drink. He ends up at a bar where he hears a voice that completely captures his attention. The voice belongs to a woman stuck with a terrible boyfriend, who leaves her out in the rain to carry her things for singing at the bar. Being the nice guy he is, Hayes offers to help, and they share a short but meaningful moment before it gets interrupted.
Olivia loves singing, writing music, hockey, and performing the national anthem at the Riders' hockey games. Then she realizes that the new guy on the team is the same man who helped her that rainy night.
I really loved how their relationship grows after she finally gets rid of her awful ex. Hayes adores her and isn’t shy about showing it every chance he gets. The friendship between Olivia and Maggie, along with the bond she forms with the WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends), is great. It’s also nice how the guys on the team make Hayes feel like part of their close-knit family.
This book is sweet, fun, and has some spicy moments. What I love the most is how Hayes makes Olivia feel special, but also how she’s able to ask for what she wants and needs because Hayes gives her the confidence to do so, with no limits.

ELLIE KAY! What a fabulous debut, sister! Where do I even start with this?

Okay, I'll start with the obvious: the beginning! And by "beginning," I mean the actual title of this novel. I love the meaning behind "Ice Contact"... and no, I'm not going to spoil that to anyone reading this review. Very sweet, and I loved the little nuggets leading up to it.

If you hate laughing, you're going to hate this book. I giggled countless times at the banter and the inner monologues. Very cheeky, sometimes cheesy, altogether smile-inducing! I enjoyed the quips and the wit!

Let's talk about these characters:
-Olivia is a loveable FMC who has a LOT going for her: she is sweet, gorgeous, and has an outstanding singing voice. But there's something about Olivia that I enjoyed more than anything else (and it might sound weird): I loved how relatable she was by being imperfect. Even though this book was funny and swoony, it touched on some deeper issues, like insecurities and traumas from past emotional abuse. Her ex did a real number on her with her confidence; even when she was finally in a loving relationship, she had so much self-doubt, so much uncertainty... and MY GOSH, I identified with that. But don't you worry about Olivia; go read the book and find out.

-I'm trapped in a pink Hayes... get it? Haze... Hayes... Okay, I'll stop while I'm ahead. This man. THIS MAN. Talk about SMITTEN. He's a hockey player that was just traded to the Milwaukee Steel Riders, but I think fate had something to do with him ending up there, and her name is Olivia Brooks. This man knew what he wanted: her heart. He pursued her, romanced her, protected her, and most importantly, he loved her. He chased all of her negative thoughts away, replacing them encouraging truths of who she really is.

-Love the side characters! All of them! The moment I met the characters for book 2, I just knew they HAD to be a couple, and with the ending? I'm even more excited about the next book.

-Oh, and Cay-Cay... he can eff right on off. There aren't enough horrible words to describe that waste of a human life. What a disgusting troll...

Let's end on some happy notes: the spice was HOT and the dirty talk had me blushing! I think I gasped a few times! LOL And the ending was absolutely precious-- the perfect ending to a lovely story! I hope we get little snippets in the future of how these two are doing!

From the very first line—"Chest Bush is coming in hot"—this book had me completely hooked. The writing was engaging, the humour was fantastic, and the chemistry between the characters was so well done.

Olivia Brooks, the national anthem singer for the Milwaukee Steel Riders, and Hayes Larson, the team’s newest star center, are such a perfect match. I loved how Hayes consistently made Olivia feel supported and comfortable in herself. Their relationship felt genuine, and I enjoyed seeing them grow closer as the story progressed.

One thing I have to highlight is that there was no third act breakup. As someone who finds those frustrating at times, I was thrilled to see a romance where the conflict didn’t rely on a predictable trope. It made the story feel fresh and all the more enjoyable.

The side characters were also a standout. Maggie, in particular, was hilarious and brought so much fun to the story. I’d love to see more books featuring the other characters because they were so vibrant and memorable.

Overall, Ice Contact was an amazing read. The pacing was perfect, the mix of humour and emotion was well-balanced, and the romance was swoon-worthy. If you are a fan of hockey romances or just love a feel-good sports romance with strong characters, I highly recommend this one.

“To all the girls who’ve been called clingy...don’t settle.
Your Hayes is out there waiting for you.”

With a dedication like that, we know we’re getting the book boyfriend we all deserve.

From the very beginning of this book, you can tell Olivia’s boyfriend is THE WORST EVER.
But in come Hayes and that instalove we all love.

If you want a book that is going to make you so happy, this is it.
Olivia gets the man she deserves and Hayes gets the woman of his dreams.
These two may only know each other for a little bit but when you know, you know.

Also, we love a man who loves when his woman is a brat. 😏

One of my very favorite nicknames in books is Siren, so when Hayes calls her that after hearing her sing, instantly melted.

These two are so freaking cute!
Hayes is definitely the golden retriever hockey player we all love and Olivia is right there with him.
Hayes is a sweet baby angel and no one can tell me differently.

The found family in this was amazing.
The hockey team and Maggie were so great in this.
I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Yes, yes, yes! I don't think this book was long enough for me!!! The pace was consistent and not much filler needed in between scenes.
You follow a hockey athlete and a singer. They meet the night he moves in to town but she's dating someone else. I love their story and the vulnerability they have with one another.
I can't wait for the next couple!!

Olivia is stuck in a terrible relationship, and trying to keep her head up between him, her annoying coworkers, and squeezing in time to enjoy her passions. Those passions lead her to crossing paths with Hayes, a new sign-on for the local NHL team, while she's singing at a local bar. Sparks fly as they walk away from each other, not realizing their bound to cross paths in a professional capacity, which could absolutely destroy her.

*****

This started out so fun and sweet, with entertaining banter and a genuinely fun setup to them crossing paths. Sure her cruddy bf was almost comically bad, to the point it was borderline overdone, but I was invested.

They very quickly went sideways. I'm not sure I expected the insta-love to be so aggressively mutual, and to have their relationship and huge milestones moving at lightspeed. I had whiplash and was wondering if we'd find out this dude was a lovebombing jerk as a twist because it was so obscene. The weirdest part was how on board every single side character was with the rapid pace they were moving, and they just accepted this is normal. It was baffling and kept me ripped firmly out of the book.

I also really struggled to get into the male leads head. Whether it was the screaming when he came while getting off thinking about her, or just him constantly thinking of her as "siren" and referring to her as "siren" an unhinged amount. I just couldn't feel connected to any of the dialogue with how awkward and forced it all felt. The words, phrases and general conversations didn't feel genuine between them at all. It was as if we were told there was a massive connection, and they were spitting out the sappy and cheesy words, but it wasn't really shown where the base of that intense infatuation was coming from for both of them.

In the end it all felt so unrealistic and overdone, that I couldn't relate. However if you love insta-love, love at first sight, obsessed leads, and the like, this is definitely the book for you.

*****

Olivia and Hayes have a relationship like no other, they fall hard for each other. It's not hard after the previous act that Olivia dated. The banter between these two couldn't have been better. It was *chef's kiss 💋 *. I laughed and giggled out loud so much my husband quit asking what I was laughing at 🤣.

There is so much in Olivia that I think so many of us carry inside of us daily. I couldn't he'll but be a little teary eyed at some of the advice that Hayes gave Olivia. He was such a supportive partner and I loved ❤️ that so much for her.

I'm a firm believer in things will happen for you when you least expect it. In Olivia and Hayes's case that's exactly what happened. I loved their meet cute 😍, no one ever expects to find someone that they just click with right off the bat when you first meet. Hayes was that for Olivia, and I was fist pumping all the way for these two 🩷.

I loved that Hayes gave her some of the best advice of "Live your life without fear." Living in fear and worries will never get us anywhere but for some it is just second nature. Olivia is just a natural worry wart! But I loved that about her, it means that she cares so much about everything that is going on. He was the perfect balm to her anxiety and worries!

These two were definitely dynamite 💥🧨 in the bedroom! I loved that he was always assuring her to make sure that she was comfortable in being herself. Not just in being herself, but also in what she wanted.

Olivia got so comfortable that she brought lingerie into the bedroom and didn't feel self conscious about it in the least. It gave her the boost that she needed and deserved!

I loved that Hayes was also thinking ahead to what they could do next. Especially when he brought out the Bluetooth toy and showed her how it worked. Not only for at home but also for when he is away 🥵🔥.

Aspiring singer and full time ad copy editor Olivia walks over to join her not very attentive boyfriend between sets when he informs her he’s going back to his place to hang out with his bros. Disappointed that he’s choosing again not to spend time in her company, she reminds him gently that she could use help reloading her equipment back into her car when her gig is over, but his mind is set on leaving. Enter a gorgeous blonde man who offers to help her at the end of the night. Reluctantly, she agrees, although she feels guilty at the surge of attraction she immediately has for the stranger.

Newly traded to the Milwaukee pro hockey team, Hayes is captivated by the lovely redhead with the beautiful singing voice gracing the patrons of the bar he visits his first full night in town. When her creep of a boyfriend implies that he got her the bar gig, Hayes isn’t buying it and he’s especially incensed when the l0ser refuses to stick around until the end of the night to help the lovely singer out and to ensure she leaves the establishment safely. Unable to resist helping her, Hayes helps her pack everything away and finds himself unable to think about much other than her for the next few weeks. At the season home opener, who wanders out to deliver a stirring rendition of the national anthem but his dream girl Olivia.

After a disastrous turn of events, Olivia’s bum of a boyfriend gets her fired as the voice of the hockey team then he unceremoniously dumps her in the next moment. Enter Hayes to console her and offer to rearrange her ex’s face. Hayes is not just attracted to Olivia, he really likes her and can see a future with her. He embarks on a campaign to convince her that she’s it for him and he’s all in.

This was a moderately spicy hockey romance with some humor mixed in. Hayes is the ultimate good guy, and Olivia is the talented bombshell riddled with self doubt.

I received an advance reader copy from The Author Agency, and I’m sharing my honest review.

It has been a HOT MINUTE since I’ve read an MF hockey Romance, and man oh man, I missed it. Hayes and Olivia were perfection, wrapped up in a hilarious, fun, spicy bow. This book was so much FUN!!

Olivia and Hayes literally have a love-at-first-sight moment when they see each other at the bar where she’s singing one night. They hit it off with the chemistry IMMEDIATELY. The only problem? She’s dating an absolute LOSER who is a huge waste of her time. Well Hayes is here to change that, and he won’t stop until Olivia is HIS.

Hayes is a walking green flag of a man. This dude literally is the definition of a golden retriever puppy who is down bad for his woman and never fails to tell her how grateful he is to have her. It was almost TOO sweet at times.. if there is such a thing. But WOW I ate it UPP.

Olivia surprised the crap out of me with her dominant side coming out to play. She really had such a great character development arc in this book, and she really came into her own. It was hot as hell, and beautiful to experience.

This book had me laughing and giggling over the funny internal thoughts, inside jokes, teammate banter, text messages, and honesty between these characters. I feel like Olivia is me, I am Olivia.. (if I was a year younger and fell in love with a hot as hell hockey player 🤣)

This book has everything you could want from : she wears his jersey, toys as friends, a little spanking, some big ✌🏻 out to my ex onto the next energy, inside jokes, banter, a very cute meet cute, actual hockey playing, and much more !

Ice Contact is the perfect Hockey Romance to read when you want something equal parts spicy + sweet. It was a fun Rom Com with delicious dirty talk, and just a light hearted love story about two fated mates who get a case of insta-love, and a very sweet HEA.

Bring on book 2! I can’t wait for Maggie to hate her man 🤣😌

Picked this up at A well Red Damsel in Wauwatosa, WI. (Awesome bookstore) Interested to try a local author. I really liked the storyline. It felt like the characters (particularly Olivia) had interesting and unique backgrounds. There was some great, funny dialogue and some really annoying dialogue, particularly Hayes toward Olivia. So my rating is more 3.5-3.75. Would try the next book in series.

Ellie Drake’s debut novel is absolutely adorable! I fell in love with Olivia and Hayes and couldn’t get enough of their story. They meet after Olivia’s boyfriend dumps her, and Hayes is instantly captivated. Unlike her ex, who treated her like an inconvenience, Hayes is supportive and encouraging from the start. The only catch is as a hockey player and the team’s national anthem singer, they’re forbidden from fraternizing. So, they have to decide the fate of their relationship and what's best for everyone. Their journey is sweet, heartfelt, and full of just the right amount of spice, definitely one to add to your TBR!

⭐Characters
Olivia (FMC) and Hayes (MMC) are perfection, just like this first book in the Milwaukee Steel Riders Series by Ellie K Drake.

Their relationship may seem rushed; however, they know what they want, and they definitely think, feel and grow in realistic ways. Olivia has more recent trauma and shows the most growth, and Hayes is in an excellent position and mindset to help her through it.

- Olivia is a talented singer/songwriter and copywriter. She's beautiful, sassy, and no thanks to Cayden, she has a lot of insecurities. She's known as "The Weapon" by the Milwaukee Steel Riders because of her prowess singing the national anthem and the effect it has on the game atmosphere.
- Hayes is a pro hockey player for the Milwaukee Steel Riders. He's a protective, dominant guy with "who did this to you" and "touch her and die" vibes but also a golden retriever in the best way. He's devoted to our girl Liv from the very start.
- Cayden is the antagonist, and he's a douche. He thinks Olivia is clingy for wanting to see him more than once a week, and he can suck it.
- The primary side characters are also strong and lovable. We meet Olivia's bestie Maggie, some of the hockey team like Vladi, Reeves, Boucher, and Walt and Johnny from the bar Olivia sings at.
- Attachment theory-wise, Cayden would be a dismissive avoidant narcissist, Olivia was probably a fearful avoidant at the start of the book. Hayes seems securely attached throughout.

⭐ Plot
It's compelling, never boring, includes foreshadowing within this book and through to the next.

⭐ World building
I was utterly immersed. I've never been to Milwaukee, but I guarantee I "get" what it's like to be there based on reading this book.

⭐ Originality
I've read a few sports romances now, even hockey romances, and this story is original. It feels unique and stands on its own.

⭐ Writing and flow
The writing is high quality, and the story and character conversations are natural (also FUNNY) and flow well.

Spice🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 - Sweet and Spicy with some dom exploration

See chapters 7, 23, 24, 26, 29, 32, 34 (7 chapters with steamy scenes across 46 total chapters)

The scenes are believably well written and steamy - they fit the growing relationship of the MCs well and progress the story. They vary and show increasing confidence and intimacy.

Quote: “Sometimes it doesn’t take long to figure out life has brought you exactly where you’re meant to be.”

Omg if these two aren’t the cutest two people in the world. I fell in love with Hayes and Olivia’s characters immediately. Hayes a professional hockey player new in town, after a trade due to a rough break up is at a local bar when he hears Olivia singing - he is immediately drawn to her (basically love at first site) but she has a boyfriend, who albeit is a real jerk especially to her, she believes they are in love. There is interaction between Hayes and Olivia and they both feel a connection and can’t stop thinking about each other but nothing happens. Several weeks go by and their paths cross again, as she happens to be the Anthem Singer for his hockey team but that doesn’t last because not only does her jerk of a boyfriend get her fired he also dumps her because to him she’s clingy. This is Hayes’ opportunity to swoop in and show her how real men treat a woman. Their relationship is moving fast and they both fall fast and hard for each other. Will her insecurities, and self doubt affect their relationship or are they truly soulmates, who can get through anything?

Thank you to Author @elliekdrake and @theauthor.agency for this ARC copy. This is my honest review.

Firstly, congratulations to Ellie Drake on her debut novel!

I love hockey romance, especially when the MMC is such a sweetheart like Hayes is, even better when they have a dirty mouth in the bedroom 😍🥵

Ice Contact starts off with the insta-love trope where Olivia and Hayes meet for the first time at a bar. Hayes was smitten from day dot. Olivia was as well but she had a shitty boyfriend.

I do understand it's insta love and he falls first. However, I felt like it was too soon. In the span of a few hours of Olivia's bf breaking up with her, Hayes is taking her home and ends up kissing her pretty intensely. Then they agree to hang out, and they end up sleeping together. It felt so soon with not a lot of push and pull considering as she was with the ex for over a year? I know he wasn't good and the best way to get over someone is to get under another person but I really missed having the slow burn and getting to know you development.

When the spice hits, it was really good and explored a lot of different things such as spanking, and Hayes dirty mouth of course. I am thankful there was no third act break up as well though, it was really refreshing to just read a story when two people meet, connect, and heal together through their relationship.

Also, I LOVE how they're in their 30s. It makes me feel so seen 😂

Thank you to Ellie K Drake and The Author Agency for an eARC Version of this book in exchange of an unbiased review 💕

4.25 ⭐️ and Ellie absolutely crushed it with her debut novel! Ice Contact is the perfect hockey romance if you enjoy instalove where he falls first and with no 3rd act breakup!

Hayes is sweet, right from the start and I absolutely love him! After an almost kiss on his first evening in a new city, he's left wondering how he can possibly find Olivia again because he cannot stop thinking about her. Little does he know that she sings at the rink and is pleasantly surprised when he sees her before his first game!

Meanwhile Olivia is also surprised, but her night becomes overshadowed by her boyfriend's wrongdoings and she feels like nothing is going right. Enter Hayes - coming in to check on her and ultimately turning her evening around. I love how their relationship starts to grow and I love how easy going they are with each other. They are simply just so perfect and work through their obstacles together.

Thank you so much to Ellie Drake for letting me read/review an early copy in exchange for my honest review! Ice Contact releases February 4th and if you're a hockey romance fan, add it to the TBR!

ARC Review: 5⭐️

Ice Contact is book 1 in the Milwaukee Steel Riders series featuring Hayes Larson & Olivia Brooks.

Hayes moves to Milwaukee to join the Steel Riders hockey team. The day he moves to town he goes out to grab a quick drink at a bar close to his new place. He is immediately drawn to the auburn haired women performing on stage but her boyfriend is also in attendance so he leaves it at that.

Olivia who’s relationship is less then ideal, performs during happy hour many Friday nights at the bar. Her boyfriend almost never comes but that night in particular he shows up, only to quickly ditch to play video games with his friends.

She meets a friendly man at the bar who winds up helping her load her gear in her car after her set. They part ways without sharing anything more then first names.

That is until the first game of the season when Hayes discovers his mystery women is the teams anthem singer. After the game he stumbles upon Olivia and her boyfriend in an argument, where the boyfriend winds up breaking up with her after causing her to be fired.

Hayes swoops in to save the day and the two become fast friends. They start spending time together and Hayes wants to help Olivia get her anthem singing job back. But will that come at the cost of what could be something special?

This book was phenomenal and I could not get enough ! What a debut novel from Ellie - I was so honoured to become a member of her street team and I can’t wait to see what comers next ! Thank you so much Ellie for the ARC!

“Ice Contact” by Ellie K. Drake is a funny, sweet and spicy hockey romance.

Thank you The Author Agency for the ARC. Opinions from this review are completely my own.

What you can expect:

🏒He falls first (and hard)
🏒Instalove
🏒Hockey Romance
🏒Steamy
🏒Witty Banter
🏒Funny Dialogue
🏒Love against all odds
🏒Main Characters in their 30’s
🏒She wears his jersey
🏒Healing from past relationships
🏒No third act breakup

Hayes is a hockey player that is newly traded to Milwaukee Steel Riders hockey team. He falls in love at first sight with Olivia, when he hears her sing in ai bar. The issue is that she has a boyfriend (an awful one). Olivia is also singing the national anthem at the beginning of the hockey games and is a big fan of the sport. After her boyfriend gets her fired and dumps her, Hayes is there for her.
He is so sweet and treats her so good. I liked their interactions, they have chemistry and witty banter.
The relationship between them develops fast and they heal each other from the past toxic relationships. Olivia is smart and ambitious and there was a sweet scene when she takes care of him.

The story has a good blend of sport, romance and funny moments. I also liked Hayes’s teammates that became his friends fast and helped him when needed.

The next book will follow the story of Olivia’s friend and one of the other players from the hockey team.

"I want her future. I want her smiles, her joy, her everything."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟

I absolutely adored this debut from Ellie K. Drake.
The chemistry between Hayes and Olivia was perfect; with their banter, their lust, their support for one another and, ofcourse, their love.

While it may have been instalove (definitely in Hayes' case), everything in their relationship felt so real, and seeing how Hayes was supportive of Olivia was perfection.
I loved that he could read her like a book, and was so in tune with her to know what she needed and how to give it to her.
I definitely lived up to the SwoonAndScroll name reading this one!

Seeing Olivia's confidence grow over time, both during the time their relationship evolved, as well as on her own, was really refreshing to see.
I loved that she came into her own and refused to be pushed around by *insert one of the many hilarious nicknames Hayes used here*

I had a great time reading every single page of Ice Contact, and can't wait to read more about the Riders!

Thank you Ellie K. Drake and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read this eARC!

Ice Contact was perfect. It was a fun and spicy book that had me upset that I have real world obligations because I couldn't devour it in one sitting. Olivia staying in a toxic relationship longer than she should have is so relatable it makes me want to cry. Hayes is the best. Literally perfect. The way he fell for Olivia so fast and wanted to help her heal from her past was so sweet.

Ice Contact had me blushing from the spice and cracking up because of the quick witted banter between Olivia and Hayes. I cried and yelled at Olivia through the book as if she could actually hear me. The jury is still out on if there's a better book boyfriend than Hayes Larson. I can't wait for the 2nd book to come out! 5/5⭐

While I am not a fan of insta love, it works in this book! Hayes just knew Olivia was the one.

The writing, the characters, and the story are all above my expectations for a new author. Olivia could be my best friend, she is not perfect, she has self doubts, just like us! Hayes, the man is book boyfriend material. He has just been traded to the Milwaukee Steel Riders, and is immediately smitten with their Anthem Singer. Their story is recommended by this reader.

We do get hints for the next book and I am excited for it to get here.

I love finding new authors, and when I get the privilege of finding a debut author with promise, they will have a hard time shaking this stalker! I am looking forward to reading Ellie K Drake for a long time.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

4 stars!

What a great debut novel, full of sweetness and spice! I’m in love with the Riders already and can’t wait to read Maggie’s story next!

Tropes: Insta-love, Sports romance (Ice Hockey)

Triggers: Crappy cheating exes

Liked: It was so great to read about 30+ MCs! Plus no miscommunication or 3rd act break up! I just wanted to wrap Hayes up, he’s not just book boyfriend material, he’s book husband material. He’s all in with Olivia and isn’t afraid to tell her that. And don’t get me started on his dirty mouth (…sir)!

Disliked: I was really not a fan of the ‘siren’ nickname, kinda made me cringe every time he said it.

OW/OM: FMC has a douchey boyfriend at the start, they break up pretty soon into the book. He tries to get her back, very unsuccessfully! MMC briefly mentions ex who cheated on him. No virgins/manwhore.

Thank you Drake and Author Agency for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute and fast read. But for 305 pages, it was so lovely dovey and I feel like "falling in love" this quickly is unrealistic and very corny for my liking.

I just don't see Olivia with a lot character... she has 2 jobs, one as a national anthem singer and the other at a marketing company (which is never talked about since the beginning). There was little to no development. She just moved in to the next relationship.

Hayes was a sweetie though, and his background was sad ...the nickname his teammates created for his ex was actually brilliant. But again, no development.

The spice was good, but a little OTT for my liking.

What a fantastic read! I don’t know anyone who could not fall in love with Hayes - hello new book boyfriend. The main character are absolutely smitten with brilliant banter between each other and their friends. A real good laugh and all the spicy feels, if I wasn’t smirking my way through the book, I was definitely giggling! Olivia is gorgeous and so deserving of Hayes, and Hayes is simply the best, what a guy!! It’s a great book and I’m looking forward to the series developing further with stories for their friendship group. An excellent first book for Ellie.
