Ein Urlaub in den Tropen endet in einer Tragödie, als ein Senator und seine Familie von einer Gruppe gut ausgebildeter Söldner als Geiseln genommen werden. Die Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten will die Situation ohne viel Aufhebens unter Kontrolle bringen, daher werden Mercer und sein Team engagiert, um sich der Sache anzunehmen. Die professionellen Unterhändler sind allerdings nicht die Einzigen, die mit der Lösung dieses Problem beauftragt wurden. Auch die örtliche Polizei will mitmischen, und als dann noch ein amerikanischer Spion auftaucht, werden die Verhandlungen immer komplizierter, und ein Happy End deutlich unwahrscheinlicher.
Während alle anderen Beteiligten sich darauf konzentrieren, einen Weg zu finden, die Situation und deren Folgen unter ihre Kontrolle zu bringen, geht es Mercer vor allem darum, die Familie zu retten. Tod, Zerstörung und Chaos brechen über die Insel herein, als er sich mit den Geiselnehmern einen blutigen Wettstreit liefert und sich auf sein bisher tödlichstes Kräftemessen einlassen muss. Und noch nie stand so viel auf dem Spiel.

Julian and his team are hired to recover a senator and his family and staff, who are vacationing in the Caribbean.
The team is up against more than they thought, with the kidnappers being former military. They manage to get back the senator and his wife, but there’s a ransom for the son that includes about $3.5 million dollars and a bunch of classified information. L
The informations ends the 4 K&R specialists in a muddle, involving the FBI, a drug lord, the kidnappers, and crooked police.
Lots of twists and adventure, really great books.

The K&R team has been hired to negotiate the release of a senator and his family. They meet resistance and new players at every turn. The senator and his wife are ransomed but the 11year old son was kept. They finally get the truth out of the senator about what they really wanted and retrieved the information. The team doesn't know who to trust but will do almost anything to get the innocent child back.

This is one fabulous series. I cannot wait for the next book comes out. The suspense in this book went all the way till the end of the book. This is a can't put down book. I highly recommend this series.

Politicians!
A politician's family is kidnapped & Mercer's team are hired to rescue them.
Then the plot twists, turns, gets thicker until no one knows who to trust.
Friction within the team leads to quite an explosive mix. But again the wrongdoers lose out in the end.

This is my favorite Julian Mercer novel to date. So much action, especially at the end. I can't wait for the next one.
