Craig offers a horrifying yet captivating study of a serial killer's mind and motives...Reader's Favorite Review Jenny Hershberger has returned to Apple Creek, the small Amish Village in Wayne County, Ohio, where she spent her childhood. She purchased her family home and hopes to find peace there. But then a horrific new mystery comes her way. Three random killings, all marked by the bloody signature of a ruthless serial killer, electrify the little town of Wooster, Ohio. Elbert Wainwright, Jenny’s counterpart on the Wooster police force, puts his team to work and quickly hunts down the man they think is responsible—a mentally disabled Vietnam War vet. All the evidence points to Steven Lambright. But when Elbert calls Jenny and her old friend, retired Sheriff Bobby Halverson, to help, the case against Lambright starts to go south as Jenny discovers there is much more to the story than meets the eye. One by one, Jenny uncovers secrets hidden for forty years, secrets deeply connected to the Amish community. And as she brings them to light, Jenny finds the past can reveal much about the present—in terrifying ways.

3 X 3 + 30 = 7. This is the formula for murder that Patrick E. Craig bases his newest novel on. Jenny Hershberger, a.k.a., the Amish Miss Marple moves back to her childhood home in Wooster, Ohio and becomes involved in helping to solve the latest crime. Alongside her Uncle Bobby and the local law enforcement, she calculates how a group of teens with difficult home lives become involved in a mind-bending mystery. She figures out through keen observation that the perpetrator calculated an algorithm of jealousy and revenge. The team has to find the greatest common factor of all the suspects and victims to decipher the true killer. The ratio of suspense and intrigue will result in a thrilling read.
I could never get into this book. I could set it aside so easily and not want to come back. I have not read the previous two books in this series. But Jenny felt familiar to me. I liked the good guy characters. However, there was just something off. The plot never gelled for me.
For me, a book has to pull me in and keep me engaged to be a 5-star book. I have read two of this author's books, each in a different series. I gave them both 5 stars. Sadly, I just can't do it on this one.
This book was very well written and thought out. A lot of Amish is very much as described. The thought process of the main character was very believable I will read more in this story line.
