Fabulous! I love the research behind it all and how to use groups effectively. While written for how to do small groups in a general ed classroom, there is a lot of resources and tips for intervention (pull out) groups as well. Hoping to continue to look through the resources and share with my fellow resource room teachers for some additional work we can do with our students!
Every teacher who is struggling with what small group should look like with the science of reading should read this book. I can’t wait to support teachers in the classroom with my knowledge gained from this book! It’s practical and full of ready and easily implemented routines.
Julia has a refreshing way of carefully reading the evidence then turning it into something any teacher can apply. Her style of writing is like being in an easy-going conversation, but backed by research. By naming routines that teachers can add to their repertoire, she gives teachers a way to pair the science of learning with the science of reading. Bravo!!
A great, practical and concise resource for supporting students in all areas of reading skill acquisition. I appreciated the “Does this sound familiar?” box and the teacher prompts and routines are easy to follow.
Julia Lindsey does it again-a firm research foundation transformed into clear, effective instructional plans. This is the exact sort of professional reading that working educators need.
