In a future shaped by the devastating Y Chromosome Virus, society flourishes under the rule of the matriarchal Council of Mothers, a seemingly utopian world where peace and progress reign. But the fragile harmony shatters when the virus resurfaces, threatening to wipe out the population and dismantle the world the Council built.
Imani, a determined rebel, uncovers a dangerous the key to eradicating the virus—and possibly humanity’s only hope—lies with the last man on Earth, hidden for decades. His existence is both a cure and a threat, capable of saving the world or unraveling the Council’s grip on power. As whispers of his presence spread, the Council will stop at nothing to eliminate him, even if it means burning their utopia to the ground.
With time running out, Imani must navigate a society teetering between hope and desperation. As she races to find the man before the Council does, she realizes the fight is not just against the virus, but against a history of secrets and control that may be impossible to undo. *"Echoes of Man"* is a gripping tale of survival and rebellion, where the future of humanity hinges on the echoes of the past and the re-emergence of life itself.
WOWWWWW. First and foremost.. I loved everything about the storyline as a whole.. BUT THAT PLOT TWIST. I didn’t see that coming AT ALL. The battle scenes were chefs kiss and the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I’m excited to see what happens in book 2
Oh and the AUDIO is a GRAPHIC AUDIO and it’s superb.
Loved Echoes of Man this was amazing the audio is top tier. This new world lead by Women men were wiped out by a Y chromosome virus. The plot twist and loyalty to Seraphine was wild definitely recommend headed to book 2
Echoes of Man primarily followers Mara, a 30-something woman who’s strong, beautiful, and whispered to be the world’s most dangerous Phantom Hunter, trained to hunt and eradicate men and Dr. Imani, a striking woman who’s brilliantly intelligent with scientific prowess. Both women are born into a utopian world unlike our own, where a dangerous, deadly, and silent killing virus, the Y Chromosome Virus has wiped out over half the world’s population of men. Soon after the virus struck, the Council of Mothers was formed and is now the primary power in control of the world. The world became a utopia and peaceful minus the fact that the remaining male species, those who survived were now being hunted and eradicated. Much has passed before something strange begins to happen, the virus has begun to re-emerge and this time it’s back with a vengeance. When Dr. Imani realizes humanities only hope could rest in the hands of 20 year old man Dorian who has been in hiding his whole life, its a race against time and those who would threaten his life to possibly save not only Dorian but also humanity. Will Imani be able to reach Dorian in time and find a way to outsmart an ever strengthening virus and the Council of Mothers or is all hope for humankind lost?
To start, I listened to this story in its audiobook format which turned out to be my first graphic audiobook. I loved the music in the background and the complimentary sound effects as they helped build the suspense and tension of the story up which added to further immersing me into the story. I would’ve loved to hear a human narrator on this story because I think it would’ve added to the rich, powerful, and emotional state of the story, so hopefully that is something the author will consider for future audiobooks. I loved the FMC’s of this story because not only were they beautiful, but they were also intelligent and fiercely strong in what some would consider male-dominated fields like Science and Hunting. The setting of the story primarily takes place in the city of New Lagos and the surrounding region which were picturesque, serene, and lush. The story had themes of political intrigue, corruption, betrayal, survival, and rebellion. Really the book as a whole was a cool concept especially in that the premise was a women dominated world. I found myself really hanging on by a thread wondering what would happen next because of the many twists and turns and I can’t wait to finish the series because it was just explosive. From the characters to the plot to the cliffhanger ending, it was all around exceptional! It will be interesting to see what happens with the characters going forward, will they be able to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way and most importantly, what will happen to the world with this ravenous virus?!? Would recommend this story to lovers of dystopian stories with an emphasis on diverse and female empowered characters.
Echos of Man is a good book with a good storyline. It's a book of the future where women rule over everything. It begins in the year 2174, where there is a virus that was spreading through the men and boys. They were led by the Council of Women, and the leader was named Seraphine. There are two women and one man that this story is centered around: Imani, Mara, and Dorian are three of the main characters. Mara was told that there was a special mission to send her on. Read the story to see how Imani, Mara, and Dorian's worlds collide, and will Dorian and Imani or Dorian and Mara become allies to fight the ferel creatures. Good book if you like reading about the future. Read to see who Dorian will end up with and whether they will ever defeat the feral creatures and the Mother Council.
I have not been disappointed by a single book I got from the #BRAE event this year. This was sooo good, I’ll definitely be reading book 2. What a concept! I’ll always love a good dystopian novel and one without men? Sure why not LOL
I just have 1 question for The Council… who hurt you? 😂
man I really hate that good reads does not do half ⭐'s because what I would like to rate this is 2 and a half stars. the plot was interesting and I liked most of the characters I just felt like it didn't keep my interest throughout the story. I'm not sure if I will finish the series
Navi broke me so many times throughout this book. Just when I got comfortable he would pull the rug up from under me. Just read it. The book is good!!!!
