“Someone has opened my box?” His voice was barely a whisper. “While I wasn’t there?”
Hellhound Kolton was having a rough couple of months. After the person he thought was his mate died in hospital, Kolton didn't know which way was up, or what he was meant to do next. So finding out from Lord Hades that his collar box, the one mate indicator that hellhounds could rely on, had been opened in his absence, was a huge shock. While he was inclined to just zap his box back to its hiding place and worry about it later, Lord Hades was adamant it was up to him to track down the person who would be his mate forever.
Is my mate a thief, or does he just have really expensive tastes?
Doctor Simon Teeg had been going through hell for the past month, watching the man he knew was his mate care for another terminally ill patient. When the young man dies, and the mate disappears from the hospital, all Simon is left with is a box with a fancy - and very big - collar inside. It certainly wasn't a situation Simon could ever claim to have been in before.
“Your mate should be the one you turn to when times get tough. They will want to help you. That’s what mates do..."
The situation wasn't ideal from the start, but Kolton and Simon did their best to make things work. Kolton worried that his bonds with Simon would never be like the ones he saw among his pack mates because Simon didn't need protecting or saving from anyone - and yet protecting was the core of who he was. Meanwhile Simon was hiding a huge secret that had serious ramifications about the core of who he was as well. Would they ever be on the same page? And what do eggs have to do with anything?
This mpreg MM Paranormal Fated Mates story can be read as standalone. It features a hellhound flying, cameo appearances from Lord Hades and Consort Ali (from The Gods Made Me Do It series), and enough wine bottles to sink a gargoyle. As always this story is intended for adults. Please store your ebooks responsibly.
Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. Kolton takes a little time to realise that Simon is his true fated mate. Simon is nothing like what the other hellhounds fated mates. They all are petit and needed rescuing. Simon is a gargoyle. He certainly doesn’t need rescuing. Kolton wonders what he actually has to offer this amazing mate the Fates have given him. In the meantime Simon is trying to hide the one thing his mate needs to see; his vulnerability. Somehow through communicating and effort these pair manage to bumble their way to their hea. Beautifully and emotively written, this book is just waiting to be read.
A lovely addition to the Hellhound Collar series. I did enjoy it and it was deffinately not predictable. For me there were two thing that kept it from a 5/5, First was Kolton's character, who was so sweet, did come off as more 'simple' at times than naive. The second was the story actually contained four separate plot lines running one after another under a really 'stretched' overarching plot line of the overall relationship. I enjoyed all of the parts, but I was left with the feeling of having experienced four resolutions in the same story - I was past ready for the HEA.
Simon and Kolton had some struggles but were so good together. I was so glad to see Warner appear later and then the sweet surprise when the baby was born. Always a treat to see Lord Hades and Ali and get some visits from the other hounds and mates.
I wonder if we will hear anything from the gargoyle clan in future stories?
I agree with Lisa’s decision not to include the next prologue, it would have been such a contrast to little Warner’s birth, but I will surely look forward to the next story.
Kolton, hellhound thinks he found his mate in a dying young human when it is really the doctor treating him. Their fated bond gets off to a rocky start but with the advice from Lord Hades and Ali, his consort, the claiming takes place. All is not smooth on the way to true love but they get there and they even become parents when the gargoyle egg hatches. It is a wonderful well written story with both old and new aspects of the hellhound series. Highly recommended.
Two very imperfect, vulnerable, and insecure characters that overcome the difficulties their meeting and mating bring with communication, compassion, and a little help from their friends.
I absolutely loved Warner, who, after the awful sadness of his young life, still was strong in spirit right at the end, and I can only hope that I have the strength and fortitude of this young man.
I have found that I enjoy stories with hellhounds. Really enjoyed this book. It’s rare to find a gargoyle as the fated mate. Fortunately for Kolton, he touched his mates arm. Each book has its own difficulties which are resolved with love and Lord Hades and Consort Ali’s help.
This was a wonderful story. Kolton was a joy and a breath of fresh air ; him being so straitforward with his questions and letting Simon know upfront about his lack of understanding certain things made me love him as a character. I can't wait to read more from this series.
Lisa Oliver never fails to deliver. If you’ve read any of the “Hellhound Collar Series” I needn’t say more. If you haven’t, settle down with “Collar and Scruff” ( the prequel to the series), and enjoy the rest of the ride with an incredible group of characters from a great author!
Simon is proof that bad things happen to good people. Kolton comes off as simple minded, but that is far from the truth.
This story is almost heartbreaking in what these two have been through. But with love and preserverance they muddle threw and are blessed with little Warner. A great story!
This book was AMAZING. I laughed at some parts and teared up at others. It exceeded my expectations for sure. I have to say Kolton is probably my fave hellhound so far. He was just so adorable and I wanted to hug him
Kolton is such a sweetheart. My favourite Hellhound to date. I enjoyed the cameos and home we get further information on our favourite God and Consort. Once the sorted things out Simon and Kolton were a good couple.
Oh my gosh, this book was so exciting and sweet. Kolton and Simon are made for each other. They have many obstacles to overcome to reach the happy ending they so desire and both deserve. 'His mighty appendage' made me laugh. Glad they were able to defend it, lol. Highly recommended.
These two are so cute together in their insecurities! But, love triumphs and life happens. I always enjoy seeing the other couples and keeping up with them. They are hilariously inept at times, but always have each other’s backs.
Lisa knocks another out of the park. I always look forward to each of her releases and this one didn’t disappoint. Kolton & Simon are perfectly matched with Kolton’s puppy nature helping Simon to let loose his tight hold on controlling his environment.
Read this book as fast as I could. Now just have to wait for the next book! This is the time I have to wait, I hate waiting! Can't wait until the next book comes out!
Kolton and Simon start off slow and cautious. Their communication is excellent as Simon takes the time to understand what Kolton is in a rush to get out. It was nice to check in with the other couples too.
