Hendrix Barry lives a fabulous life. She has phenomenal friends, a loving family, and a thriving business that places her in the entertainment industry's rarefied air. Your vision board? She's probably living it.
She's a woman with goals, dreams, ambitions-always striving upward. And in the midst of everything, she's facing her toughest challenge - caring for an aging parent.
Who has time for romance? From her experience, there's a low ROI on relationships. She hasn't met the man who can keep up with her anyway.
Until . . . him.
Tech mogul Maverick Bell is a dilemma wrapped in an exquisitely tailored suit and knee-melting charm. From their first charged glance at the summer's hottest party, Hendrix feels like she's met her match. Only he can't be. Mav may be the first to make her feel this seen and desired and appreciated, but he's the last one she can have. Forbidden fruit is the juiciest, and this man is off limits if she plans to stay the course she's set for herself.
But when Maverick gives chase-pursuing her, spoiling her, understanding her-is it time to let herself have something more?
I write contemporary romance and women's fiction. I always give my characters their happily ever after, but I love to make them work for it! It's a long road to love, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
I am wife to the love of my life, mom to a special, beautiful son, and a friend to those living with autism through my charitable foundation.
This one was my least favourite of the 3 books, probably because I couldn’t relate much to this independant girl boss narrative. However, I really enjoyed getting to know Hendrix, and loved how caring she is, especially towards her mother. The romance was intense, sensual and genuine. I loved how they were drawn to each other from the very first moment they met. I loved how Maverick was always willing to prove to Hendrix that she could trust him, with concrete actions. I just felt like the reason why they couldn’t be together wasn’t that deep, I thought it was gonna be a bit more chaotic. But knowing Hendrix it was still realistic so I guess it made sense. Overall, a good and enjoyable read, not my fav but still very pleasant.
Probably my least favourite if I had to rank them of the series but I still had a lot of enjoyment reading this book! I wondered how the character of Hendrix was going to end up with her mans and here we are!
As usual in these books, there is a softer insight and look into a more serious topic - a loved one suffering from dementia. I have a newfound respect and empathy for anyone who has a family or friend with dementia. It was heartbreaking to read and I definitely shed a tear or two.
The romance was alrightttt but they were also 40 and talking like they were 23 with no life experience at times. Also got super over the ex popping up every 5 mins.
Beautifully written romance - and like her other books, this is much more than a romantic story. This book is about loss and grief but also about friendship and found family.
The story didn’t connect with me as much as the two previous books of the Skyland series, but Kennedy Ryan is obviously a talented author and the story was well-written, touching and doesn’t shy away from dealing with heavier themes.
EASILY the best one of the series. Hendrix deserves the WORLD. I felt that I could more easily relate to Hendrix compared to our other two characters in previous stories. Would love to see more of her in romance.
Kennedy Ryan tackles such difficult but meaningful topics in her writing with such care and authenticity. So sad this series has come to an end but I feel this was a worthy end. Give us the kids all grown up next 🤭
I enjoyed this book and was so happy to see that Hendrix got her happy ending. However, I feel like a good bit of the story seemed rushed, especially towards the end. I wanted to read more about Hendrix and Maverick’s plans since they were living in two different states and she had to consider her mom and aunt in everything she decided to do… Idk
