Megatron Mansfield is my favorite.. this man asked for his tithes and offerings back, and don’t forget the cents 🤣🤣🤣

I knew it was gonna be emotional by the title but oh just break my heart.
Yes I’m crying !
💔 I loved the personal relationship with God that Mega was able to come back to. Ruth my girl, I love the friendship between her Shan, Fiona and Whimsy. 🫶🏾
The rollercoaster of life & faith is so delicate. This shows how trials can shake our faith.
Nice to see some other members of Christianson Enterprises present!

This one made me giggle, cry & laugh again.
✨ Mega interrogating Croya’s boyfriend.
✨Mega Rose Mega 🌹🤭😆
✨Mega getting fired, and Ned’s joking how you get fired from killing people 😂
✨Mega tossing Ruth on the floor took me OUT😆😂🤣

The loss, navigating grief, the representation of therapy, and your village support, oh and them secrets kept spilling ! I loved this friendship/family circle.♥️🥰😍🫶🏾

I went into this read ready for Mega and all his shenanigans and boy did he deliver! He is still as unhinged as ever with that sharp tongue and trigger finger. It made me wonder what on earth could turn this fool dark. Well.... you flipped the damn script, that's what! Nothing could have prepared me for the emotional ride that we were taken on with that devastating loss that was experienced. 🥹

The realism was so on point, that it almost felt like I was feeling the emotions right along with these characters. Although we are taught not to question God, it is a genuine human reaction to do so when we experience something we don't understand. The frustration, the anger, and the betrayal you feel toward "Big G" when he promises to always be there for you, protect you, and then the unthinkable happens, your faith can crumble to where it is nonexistent. This is what happened to Mega. He was doing well on his walk with God, and when he felt God had forsaken him, he walked away blaming him for the pain he was feeling. Mega wanted to be there for his wife, but how? He didn't know what to do with his feelings, and his fear of the unknown had him ready to take on every assignment there was to help ease his pain. 🥹

Ruth on the other hand was extremely hurt, but she leaned into her faith to try and find understanding and healing. She went through her period of depression, and the why's, but she also knew that God knows best, and that she had to learn to live with the pain.

With both of them dealing with their grief in different ways, and not effectively communicating, their marriage bond was beginning to break down and suffer. Hurt people, hurt people and if something didn't give soon, I was sure that they wouldn't make it. But lawd the village that they have held them up, smothered them with love, patience, and support to get them through this storm. I loved that they went to therapy, as they both knew that someone had to intervene and be the voice of reason to get them through this dark patch they were experiencing.

That damn Solomon!!! Sir why couldn't you have just stayed away? All that mess for what? 👀😤Then the bombshell with Rick.... I certainly didn't expect that! 🤯 This read will grab every emotion from laughter, sadness, love, loss, forgiveness, and faith. Great read!! 👍🏾👍🏾

Mega is a fool!!! But I love him!!!! This was good!!! Funny, emotional due to the loss/grief (TW:Stillborn), wavering faith due to the loss, and still Big G in the midst of it all!! 🤭😂
Definitely recommend ❤️

I loved this book. I absolutely adored it. And I cried a lot reading this book because I was there with Megatron. God spoke to me through a fictional character who was having a real-life moment of struggle with his faith. Baby, this book hit home for me, and because of that, it gets 5 ⭐️

Trigger warning: stillborn baby
Themes of black love, humor, religion, grief, anger, violence, mental health

Mega and Ruth learn to move forward together and restore their faith after a loss. I liked the first book better, but it was still a good story with colorful characters. This story had the same vibe as the first with some humorous scenes toward the beginning, but it got darker and more dramatic. Ruth's character has grown to be a little edgier than in the first book. Even though the author still had some elements of humor in the writing and dialogue, it brought my mood down. (Also, why did Solomon show up again? He didn't learn his lesson in the first book?)

Yup...💜💜

I am still in love with mega. This book def was a Rollercoaster of feelings. I laughed, I cried and I hurt like hell but it was all worth it to see mega and Ruth's growth as a couple and individually. Knowing everything that they had to endure really made their relationship 1000 times better. I loved that mega never changed who he was for others benefit but he tried to be understanding in his own special way. I also understood his situation with the Big G as he called him, sometimes we go through phases like Mega and Ruth when it comes to our faith but to really try to work and get back to a place that is grounded is hard but worth it in the end. In the end for them they were truly blessed abundantly, even though that hurt will always be they found a way to cope.

End of the day my point is GO READ THE DAMN STORY!!

Mel Dau did it again for me with Mega's World.

When an author leaves you walking away thinking 🤔 I have a few people who could benefit or can be helped by reading this book, they have done their job.

In this book, the author explored what happens when Mega and Ruth's faith and relationship are tested. Do they turn away from god because they think he turned away from them?

You will need your tissues handy, Honey to see you and them through this journey.

We also get some closure on some of Ruth's storyline. Also, meet some new and interesting characters I hope the author develops.

Mega is still Mega and hilarious. So to feel that man break... mehn. Well, I'll just let yall read it. Because I am still processing Ruth's outburst...

I said what I said and as always: don't take my word for it. Read the book, form your own opinions, and support your authors!

Trusting the dark

It was good catching up with Mega and Ruth and their family in friends in this end of their saga. Mega and Ruth endured some darkness but were able to find the light again. This book showed the power of faith and what happens when something happens that shakes that faith and puts you in a dark place and has you mad at and questioning God. I enjoyed the way this story was told and seeing how this couple with the help of their extended family were able to find their way to the light. This story also gave me plenty laughs because Mega does not know how to act and says whatever comes to mind. This book also revealed some family secrets, but through it all, they all stuck by each other.

An emotional rollercoaster

The employees of Christianson Enterprises are byke! The gang is all here and right on time as Ruth and Mega go through a dark time but it’s all hands on deck as their friends, family, and “Big G” help them weather the storm. Right when Mega thinks he’s about to graduate from the “sinner’s transition program” something or someone tests his growth, extending his stay in the program. Ruth, the “Mega Whisperer” does the best she can, but Mega is gon’ Mega! This one was an emotional rollercoaster but no less laugh out loud hilarious and the perfect ending for Ruth and Mega Mansfield.

I was so glad to see more from Mega and Ruth. I thought this was a perfect depiction of their love and relationship. I hate that they had that loss but I think the journey through and around their faith made it better. The point where Mega & Ruth were praying has me in complete tears. This was perfect. The found family aspect was great and it’s nice seeing how they rallied around Ruth & Mega when they needed them the most. This was such a good read.

Mel Dau does not disappoint!

This story was a good one. I laughed a lot. I also felt a little emotional with Ruth and Mega. I wasn’t expecting to feel that way. If you have been reading all of the books with these characters, I highly recommend this one!

Megatron is the true definition of unbothered. This man shed for his money back from a freaking church. Him and Ruths relationship was tested hard but I’m glad they got through the rough patch and received double blessings.

This book was sooooooo goooood! I love Mega, Ruth, and the gang. Mega is whole fool! Is Ruth having Mega work on his people skills for me. She knows damn well her husband is unhinged and have no type of filter. 😂😂😂😂😂😂. He had me laughing from beginning to end. My heart break for both him and Ruth after what they went through. I love the rawness and the situation is relatable in real life. Ms Mel Dau!!! This was good! You did your big one on this!

Rosy Rules

Where does one begin to effectively capture the essence of this larger than life persona Mr. Megatron “Mega” Loric Manfield⁉️..I actually had to read a few chapters twice, because the banter, shenanigans & the “rose” alert warnings although necessary to control that fool but were still hilarious 🤣😂‼️”Trusting The Dark: Mega’s World was def comedy jam on steroids, sometimes sad as well but primarily funny to witness the Manfield’s and their core family, community & friends support & love them at a moments notice. Nevertheless, if nothing else, there are constructive rules of engagement to successfully interact with & or occupy the space of the Mega man. However, consider carefully the potential consequences of any Mega ventured project 🤦🏾‍♀️ 🤷🏾‍♀️. …This was the man that told a pastor, dude run me my money😬🤭‼️ YUP! “Aye, Pastor Kirkland, do me a favor and call your financial officer in here, so he can cut me a check for $18,982.34. If I’m not welcome in your church then neither is my money. I’ll take that in a bank transfer actually.” …that was hilarious 🤭🤣😂🤷🏾‍♀️⁉️ Thereafter, it’s safe to infer Mega is/was definitely not a sanguine, his personality ain’t for the novice, diffident, obnoxious nor odiferously challenged and his candor will either strengthen your resolve or expedite the Christianson trio of recompense, and activate the eternal horizontal severance package 🤭🫣.

Hmmm 🤔, now the couples counseling session in Dr. McMaster’s office makes even more sense.

Nevertheless, Megatron is/was a man of values, principles & standards, most times sadistic but a foundation compassion was established🤔(ok, the trait is recessive 🤭). He commanded respect of his personal parameters. Now, his challenge was how to effectively communicate those customer service/people skills diplomatically to outsiders (“Baby, if your plan to help Mega’s people skills is to have him be a host or waitstaff at the restaurant, you might as well put the for-sale sign on the building now.”) the love for his faith, family, friends which supersedes the money, power & respect. Kryptonite is deactivated and all is rosy 🌹in Megaworld😉‼️

This book was excellent Ruth & Mega’s journey was an read cover to cover‼️Congratulations Ms. Dau, you deserve the accolades for this literary project 💐!

Emotional, healing, and deeper than the first book

"Trusting in the Dark: Mega’s World" hit me in a very different way than the first book. This one felt heavier, more emotional, and a lot more rooted in grief, healing, and what happens when a marriage takes a real hit. Mel Dau handled the loss of a child with a lot of care, and that part of the story is what stayed with me most. I always appreciate when a book does not just throw trauma into the plot for shock, but actually shows the hard work of trying to find your way back to yourself and back to each other.

What worked really well for me was seeing Mega and Ruth go through something devastating and not magically bounce back. Their pain affected their marriage, their faith, and the way they moved through the world. I liked that the book showed therapy, prayer, friendship, and personal accountability as part of the healing process. That made the story feel honest.

Mega still brought the humor, which helped balance some of the heavier moments. Mama Goldie was also a standout, and baby Maggie brought some much-needed light. I loved that this book really reinforced the value of having a strong village around you when life gets dark.

I also appreciated the faith element, especially because it did not feel flat or overly polished. The spiritual struggle felt real. Watching these characters wrestle with grief, anger, and belief gave the story depth.

The only thing that kept this from being a full five stars for me was the editing. But emotionally, this book still landed. It was tender, painful, funny in the right places, and very human.

If you loved Mega and Ruth in their first book, this one shows them on a much deeper level.

Double For Their Trouble

Religion and religious people would likely tell us one thing about this book, but relationship with God will tell us the most important thing which is this is probably the most factual and most realistic relationship, after a traumatic experience- with God, that someone has. Having lost a baby, all of these emotions resonated with me 100%. Reading about it on these pages felt like therapy all over again. Aside from the out loud laughs that Megatron Mansfield invokes, Mel did her BIG one, showing how traumatic grief can make you not only question but be angry with even God. But what she also showed and what is perhaps even more real is that even in that hurt and anger, Big G is still there, never turning His back and there to help you back to healed and whole and often time giving you double for your trouble in the process. I sometimes struggle when authors include scripture and God in a book full of sex and shenanigans, but like the original Mega book, Mel really combined the two worlds in a palletable way. There was, of course, some bang bang shoot em up, and some family drama and revelations, but there was also some on-page brotherly love and accountability and some amazing sisterhood. The epilouge was everything. I really liked the entirety of this book.

Okay, but...

Ain't nothing more aggravating than a n*gga that talks too damn much!

Mega was so annoying in this book and it was so bad that I couldn't even really feel a way about the tragedy that occurred. I'm no holy roller by any means, but there's something to be said about a person who uses their "relationship" with God as a shield to excuse their ignorance. Mega is ridiculously ignorant and really thinks he's smarter than a fifth grader, but the antics are no longer funny. In fact, it's corny as hell but one thing's for certain, and two thing's for sure, KARMA is a muthafucka and when she shows up, she doesn't have to hit the person directly, but someone closer to them instead. *CATCH*

For the longest I couldn't figure out how the title of the book and the storyline connected. The author took so long to get to the main plot of the book (almost the halfway point) that it was turning into a snooze fest. The friend circle is still doing the same ole stuff. All of the guys are proud to be hitmen 🙄. For some reason, the author felt the need to keep harping on this.

The best part of this story was Draco (Carlton)! When he bossed up on Mega, I was like YES!!! FINALLY!!! Someone who is not playing the reindeer games with that man and laughing it off instead of addressing the foolishness! Mega couldn't do anything but be that man's friend LMAOOOOOO!!!! I was here for all of it.

As much as I would like to give this one three stars, I can't. It's a 2.5 star read for me.

If you read Mega Man then this is a nice follow up. The reader is given an updated on Mega, Ruth, Goldie, Ned, Shan, Naomi, Rick aka Ned Sr., Croy, Fiona, and the rest of the fam.

This story addresses how the lost of a child can take a toll on the strongest couple and shake your faith in God-Big G. The reader is taken on Mega and Ruth's journey as they repair and heal from that lost. Mega's mouth is still reckless and there are funny parts to lighten some of the heavier topics. One of my favorite scenes is when Mega's pulls his gun out on Carlton aka Draco (their therapist) and Draco does the same while informing Mega he's been trained by the same organization that Mega works for. Classic.

When you get in that dark place, you got to trust something or someone that you can get out of the it. If not, that darkness will consume you. It's like, you have to trust that the dark has a purpose. To get to the light. you straight ass gave to trust the dark-Mega's answer to Ned about one lessons learned during this dark period in his life and marriage.

So good and I love the update.

This book was a testimony that you must make your way through the darkness to see the light.

Seeing Mega go through those emotions brought tears to my eyes (and I’m not even a crier). That battle with Big Folks? Whew, I know it all too well because I’m still fighting mine. It was so refreshing to read how he spoke with Big Sandals even while angry that’s me all day, curse words and all (don’t judge me, my nigga accepts me the way I am). I’m glad Mega was able to express his pain and fears so openly.

And Ruth… when she blew up? I had to hold my chest. Mel, you had me over here crying crying I wanted to hug Ruth so bad.

Shoutout to Big Draco.

Lawd knows I love Fiona she’s my favorite but OMM I would’ve slapped TF out of her for saying that goofy shyt to Ruth. Croy should’ve checked her and Ruth because, girl, what do you mean “you can have me divorce and remarried”? Bih, is you cool?.

I’m so glad Ruth and Ned Jr. embraced each other though. I’m here for the bond they’re building.

Mel, you’ve got a forever fan right here.

🖤 Book Review: Trusting the Dark by Mel Dau

This book picked up right where Mega Man left off, and it was everything I hoped for. Mega and Ruth’s story continues, and this time it’s tested in every way possible—their faith, their love, and their ability to trust each other through the darkness.

Mel Dau showed that even strong love can be shaken, but what makes it powerful is how you fight to hold it together. The challenges they faced felt real and raw, but the faith running through it all gave the story heart and hope. Mega and Ruth’s connection stayed solid, even when everything around them tried to pull them apart.

This story had me praying, clenching my chest, and rooting for them the whole way through. It was deep, emotional, and a reminder that real love doesn’t crumble when it’s tested—it grows stronger in the dark.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(For the faith, the fight, and the love that refused to break)
“Faith tested. Love refined. Mega and Ruth proved that even in the dark, God still moves.” ✨
