The first book in a coming-of-age series about the origins of evil on Earth and the supernatural struggle for humanity’s redemption. The epic unravels through the adventures and misadventures of 18-year-old Alexis Sharp and her unlikely friends as they navigate trials, quests, and secrets that transcend both time and space.
If Alexis were offered a choice, she probably wouldn't have chosen this destiny for herself. And yet, it proved to be the most exhilarating rite of passage she could ever have dreamt of.
Though initially antagonistic toward the crimes against all that is normal, natural, and proper, a skeptical Alexis slowly begins to embrace her new reality after being abruptly recruited to a mystical Island within the Kingdom of Euangelion where humans enjoy immunity and immortality.
Presently safeguarded from outside intrusion by an invisible veil, this Kingdom truly appears to be paradise. But a prophecy linking the demise of the evil exiled Diabolus to a human bloodline and a clandestine operation to obtain a mysterious artifact will soon threaten to change that.
UMM WOW! I honestly had no idea what I was getting into when I read this book, but it was not at all what I was expecting! If you are looking for a clean fantasy novel with incredible characters than this book is for you!! Alexis Sharp is the newest human recruit in Euangelion. She is struggling to find her place in this magical land until she settles into an amazing friend group. But when she volunteers for a dangerous mission, it will test these boundaries, and her thinning trust. With non-stop action, a magical world, amazing characters, and a beautifully written novel, I will forever recommend this book! It is by far one of my favourite books ever, and definitely my favourite fantasy book! And the ending. Ahh!! I can not wait for the next book!!!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Fast-paced, Christian-inspired story, origins of the earth retelling...
I love the cover; Alexis - her character made sense, she still made mistakes (and those also made sense) but fixed them, was strong and intelligent, etc...; and all the hints to the Bible. There were no plot holes, and the villain was actually villainous (you know what I mean).
What a fun debut novel! It gave me Marvel Universe vibes at the beginning of chapter one and quickly turned to Middle Earth vibes!
Alexis is minding her business when she's whisked away to a new world call the Kingdom of Euangelion, which seems to defy time and space. There she's introduced to a whole host of people and a new reality. She has a choice to make: stay (and believe) or leave (cut off forever). Sound familiar with another choice we all have to make?
So much is packed into this little book! We see - in a fictional, fantasy setting - the fall of humanity. We also see those who are battling evil and those who are evil! We follow Alexis through her process of coming to know her surroundings and what might be expected of her. The friends she makes just happen to be hundreds of years old. There's training to be done with swords, castles, and griffons. Can't leave out the fact that they go on a quest to find an item that's best kept out of Diabolus' hands
I loved all of the allegorical parts of the story. The good vs evil, how our enemy continues to try to lead us astray or keep people separated from God, how each person needs to make a choice whom they will serve, etc!
And let's talk about the cast of characters outside of Alexis. Aurelia is the perfect person to match with Alexis when the arrives in the Kingdom. Her kindness & patience are a draw for everyone... including Rufus who has heart eyes for her. There's also Phoebus, Aurelia's brother. He helps train and guide Alexis. Lord Castus is their sure and steady teacher who leads them in all manner of ways.
This is going to be an epic adventure and I can't wait for book two!
*I was sent the book for review. This is my personal opinion.
📚BOOK REVIEW: The Battle of Euangelion: Reborn by @shescribesbooks
⚔️Christian Fantasy (Origin Story Inspired) ❤️Redemption Arc ⚔️Found Family-How to Train Your Dragon Found Family Vibes
I really enjoyed the world-building inspired by the Bible and the banter between all of the characters. It felt like How to Train Your Dragon with how the friendship and bond formed between Aurelia, Phoebus, Alex, and Rufus. Each of them has a distinct personality/specialty and sometimes they clash—like Hiccup and Astrid at the beginning of the movie. It was a creative premise and I have to say I got pretty mad at Alex, but then remembered all of us tend to be stupid when we are stubbornly choosing our own path instead of God’s. I do wish that there was more of a lead-up to the cliffhanger, but overall this book was very intriguing! If you like Christian world-building/fantasy, redemption arcs, banter, and found family, pick up this book now!!
